Here are some CD's of the great MARLENE DIETRICH, with songs from her movies in Germany and Hollywood, american standards, and german, french and brazilian beautiful and sad unforgettable songs:
Nice to see the blog doing so well (I doff my cap).
Two things:
(1) would anyone be interested in the long out of print Ennio Morricone promo soundtrack to City Of Joy? Just found the CD after a long absence, it's not bad.
(2) would anyone happen to have James Newton Howard's "Outbreak" in 192 or better?
I'll try to make up for the ultra laid-back Mangione record. This cat was super-popular back in the mid-to-late 70's, kind of a Don Ellis for the masses.
@ ruggo - I've only done this once or twice, and it was quite a while back now. The key to the exercise is the "cue" file, which basically lists the break points between tracks. You need that and a "track splitter" program. A quick google showed up this one, freeware:
http://www.medieval.it/content/view/28/70/
The only problem I ever found was that the cue file has to be absolutely spot on. A difference of just a second or two will result in the split falling in the wrong place. The software I previously used allowed you to adjust the timings to fix.
Good luck!
@ amadues - Freaky, I was just in the process of uploading Cromwell, which when originally released contained reams of dialogue. The version I have contains the closest thing available from various sources. It's quite good. I need to go out soon, so will be posted later in the day.
This compilation representative of his variety and intensity is only the tip a magnificent mountain of glorious music that we have already been introduced to in this blog. Here’s something to add to the collection. My rip @320.

Hello everybody! I don`t know if Luis Bacalov L`Ultima Chance soundtrack have been posted? If there is an interest,I can upload it. Also, anyone have Mondo Hollywood soundtrack by Mike Curb?
@ mel My deepest thanks for the two Jackie Gleasons which I did download, listen and appreciated very much.
@ isbum Also great, great thanks for thinking of me with Chuck Mangione. My compilation for you should come up soon. I have something being uploded for you at the moment. Should be ready for posting in half an hour.
@ ruggo I had to split up an .ape file a few weeks ago. This is how to do it (if yours IS an .ape). Forst of all, in addition to the .ape file, the image must contain at CUE file. If this is present, you need to download a program caled Monkey's Audio. with this, you can convert the .ape file into .wav. After this is done, process the file with EAC (exact audio copy), which splits it into discreet tracks as specified by the CUE file. All these programs are available for free on the internet. If you cannot find, let me know and I can get more specific with url's, etc.
I'm not doing too well at finding the Moross yet -- but I will get it.
Until then... want some Paul Creston?
ruggo,
Wonderful posts -- thank you.
While I was downloading the Giant, I listened to the Elmer Bernstein Tiomkin connection... which led to a pretty passionate thought.
boss isbum,
I think a Frankie Laine weekend would be SOMETHING incredible.
Can you think of one singer/songwriter/even social figure whose work connects so many great artists so uniquely... from Tiomkin to Previn to Carl Fischer to John Williams to Paul McCartney to Elvis Presley to Clint Eastwood to Terry Gilkyson and so many more...
There is just so much terrific music in and around his voice.
@ isbum I didn't see your request of July 19 for Ennio Morricone's OST of "Duck, You Sucker" fulfilled. But I may have missed it. Anyway here is my rip of it from LP @ 320 + HR Artwork (no back cover, it was a reproduction of the front cover in black & white)
Now... it may be rotten vegetable that once was my brain... but I remember seeing an extended Alamo set that WASN'T the excellent Silva Screen 4 CD Tiomkin set.
Am I nuts? Does anyone have that?
(Note... if anyone has the Silva Screen... well... I wouldn't complain if ya...)
Thanks for your help. Since I'm working on a complete set of Bach's Cantatas, I'm going to have a lot of stuff to archive.
First I converted the APE CD-image file to an MP3 file using one of my favorites, Easy CD-DA Extractor. Then I used the program filmpac suggested to split the MP3 file.
Worked like a charm! Now I have more than one way to skin this particular cat (whoops! Is Michael Vick listening in?)
@ amadues – As mentioned, most of the original LP release was dialogue, with only a few score tracks. This version was compiled by somebody else (all thanks to whomever), and contains the score tracks from the LP, one track from a classical CD, and 3 cues from a rare concert piece. All is explained in the notes. Please to enjoy…
Seems more than one of us is on a hunt for covers. I've just spent a fruitless half hour looking for a cover pic to Stu Phillips "Angels From Hell" soundtrack. Anyone have one, or a link?
Glad you are enjoying the first two Jackie Gleasons - you’re always welcome.
Here is the third and last one - Tawny - which, unlike the others, is my own rip – from a 10” LP which unfortunately doesn’t have a cover and I couldn’t find large enough artwork.
http://rapidshare.com/files/50687045/JGT.rar.html
I hope you enjoy this one as well – it’s just a little different (the first 4 tracks are a suite).
@ one bite - Thank you for providing the Luis E. Bacalov when I least expected it! I will download it now and make comment when i've heard it.
@ Quinlan - Thanks so much my friend, it's grand having you back with us!
@ chimesatmidnight - Great idea! Why don't we kick-off September with a trip down "Memory Laine". Get Sallie, Mel, Filmpac, Ruggo and ...everybody to see what Frankie Laine gems they can come up with.
Thank you for "GIANT"! By the way, to split tracks (amont hundred other funtions), I use SOUND FORGE; it's not freeware, but you can find the serial cracker at astalavista.com.
@scoredaddy Thank you for "RAGTIME"!
@Everyboby
Have you seen the comunities of mp3 soundtracks or discographies at Orkut? Make your profile first.
I used to collect Frankie Laine's 78s when I was little, always having been a big fan. I can post my collection which includes most of his popular stuff from the 1940s and 1950s. As it's not September yet, the question is: when to post?
@ warlock Firstly I'd like to congratulate you for your very fine new blog and thank you very much for your numerous contributions in July. The other purpose of this comment is to come back on some of your posts (specifically those of July 17) relating to David Newman & Jerry Goldsmith. As I already told you (and I do confirm it) the Sendspace links do not work. Strangely, on that very same date you have two other posts with Mediafire & Megaupload which are working perfectly well. This has nothing to do with the link being cut in 2 parts. When this happened, I made sure to copy the proper complete link onto the Excel sheet which I would like to publish ASAP now. I checked in your blog and found several of these links on your July 14 first contribution post. Same story: when taken from your own blog, the answer from these Sendspace links remains "Sorry the file you requested is not available". I noticed in the comments of this post that Alex made the same remark. Anyway this is not unusual, maybe some trolls were hanging around your blog at that time or more simply the links were valid for a limited time. The purpose of my comment was to tell you that I was going to publish a summary of the July links with invalid links coming from your post and I just wanted to ensure that it was not merely an error in the URL. It will still be time to correct them at a later date if you wish to.
Coming back to the links cut in 2 parts, we covered that subject in several occasions here before you became a visitor and a contributor. Cutting the links is absolutely unnecessary. Doing so, you're complicating your task as an uploader and the downloaders' task as well. I used to do it this way also because I wanted my entire links to be seen in my posts forcing the downloaders to copy and paste in 2 or 3 steps. The reason for it being that when you write or copy your link at the time you write your post you are under the impression that the link is truncated and therefore the readers (downloaders) won't be able to read it and properly copy it. But this is a wrong statement. It's just due to the narrowness of the thread and although you do not see the complete link, it is there (but partially hidden). The only thing the downloaders have to do is to highlight the line of the "looks like truncated" link PLUS the next line (whether this next line is blank or not doesn't matter). Then copy and paste. You'll see that the complete link is reproduced in the address bar. So again, make it simple. Post your links in one shot and don't cut them. The downloaders here know how to manage to get it straight. I hope I've not been too boring with this subject and would like to thank you again for all the efforts you developped to provide us with excellent music. Cheers
@ triryche – I found a small cover pic for The Night Flier, you can grab it here. Best I could come up with. H2O, thanks for your efforts on my cover pic, better than nothing mate.
@ quinlan - Sendspace links only have a short shelf life, if I recall correctly, might explain why they are dead and others survive from warlock's postings.
@ joshyr I failed to raise a question concerning your July 30 post of "Breakfast At Tiffany's" Expanded Bootleg. (It's relating to the July Excel link list). When clicking on your hyper link, I get the following message from Mediafire: "Invalid Quickkey". And if I copy and paste the link I'm directed to a Mediafire page where I could upload something from but not download. Could you kindly clear my mind since I not only want to report the proper link to the Excel sheet, but I'd like also to download the files for my own usage. Thank you for your cooperation.
@ quinlan - Just my 2 cent's here, but perhaps we should leave these links to Warlock and his blog. I fully support the efforts of other's who have been inspired to create blogs. As I enjoy seeing the progress of these sites, all blog's are welcome to let us know when they have updated. * bloggers- Please leave a link to your blog in the update notice.
Quinlan, my friend, out of concern for the mental toll this effort must take, please roll the end credits. :)
@ ruggo That Korngold/Gerhardt collection you requested a while ago has finally been posted at my blog. Sorry for the delay: http://scoredaddys.blogspot.com/2007/08/erich-wolfgang-korngold-classic-film.html
@ chimez Thanks, as usual, for the Chavez and for the Creston. Sure, I'll take Schuman, but please take your time.
@ chimez – Finally, after all your great posts, you have wandered into my domain and I get to give one back to you. I second your requests for either the 4CD Tiomkin best of set, or Alamo expanded, I only have the regular release.
I've combed my brain and concluded that the only extended Alamo set is the one that Sony issued with a few outtakes and the commercial releases of the songs.
I did a fudgy melding of that with a) my wishes and b) a brief glance at the Silva Screen set while hurrying through a Virgin Megastore a couple of years back.
However... the newly revised wish/fantasy would be a DVD rip of the original release (chemo brain thrill to share -- what were those first runs called that sold reserved seats -- not tent shows... sheesh!) with the complete Tiomkin score.
I believe it when Tiomkin wrote that this was his American Alexander Nevsky -- just as I totally embrace what David Shire wrote about Return to Oz (thanks again scoredaddy!) being his American Pictures At An Exhibition.
I found this first rate comment about "O Lucky Man" on Amazon by someone named Galina... with plenty of lyrics quoted...
"O Lucky Man!" (1973), directed by Lindsay Anderson (with Ralph Richardson, Malcolm McDowell and Helen Mirren) is a constant source of joy when I watch it again and again. Off I go with Mick Travis (McDowell) in his crazy surreal journey up and down, back and forth, "around the world in circles" along with the Alan Price's band that provide the music commentaries in the traditions of a Greek Chorus or Brecht's Theater. I love his songs to the film very much. It is possibly the best use of a rock soundtrack in a film. I am a proud CD owner and I listen to it constantly - in my car, at work, while exercising. It is short; ten songs only last for 25 minutes but what the minutes they are. Each song, every note and each word feel so perfectly simple and so joyously cool that you can't forget them. For many years, after I saw the film for the first time, I used to sing to myself from time to time, especially if I was sad or confused or would face the important and not easy decisions:
"Everyone is going through changes No one knows what's going on. And everybody changes places But the world still carries on." - and the song would always make me feel better. Eventually, it has become the important part of my life philosophy.
The most famous and deservingly so is the title song, "O Lucky Man" which was presented in the movie not once but two times, in the opening scene and in the final one. The second rendition is perhaps the best track on the CD, the most memorable scene in the movie and the best performance by Alan Price. I can go on forever about the disc, the songs, their melodies and the lyrics but it is better to hear them once than to try to describe them. They are all wonderful, as much as the film is and the film would definitely not be the same without Alan Price, his band and his songs and instrumental compositions for the film ("Pastoral", "Arrival"). I just want to name the songs and their lyrics:
"O Lucky Man!": If you have a friend on whom you think you can rely - You are a lucky man! If you've found the reason to live on and not to die - You are a lucky man!
"Poor people": Someone's got to win in the human race- If it isn't you, then it has to be me.
"Sell, sell" Running here, running there Keep it moving, sonny, don't despair Because the next one will be, the next one will be, the next one will be, the best one of the year
"Look over your shoulder" When everything in life seems just as it should be At last success seems just around the door Don't forget boy Look over your shoulder 'Cause things don't stay the same forever more
"Justice": We all want justice but you got to have the money to buy it You'd have to be a fool to close your eyes and deny it
"My Town": Down on the corner of the street Where I was born we used to meet And sing the old songs We called them dole songs
"Changes": Love must always change to sorrow And everyone must play the game, Here today and gone tomorrow- But the world goes on the same.
And that's what you may learn in the end of your journey to the top of the stairs, to the success: "Takers and fakers and talkers won't tell you. Teachers and preachers will just buy and sell you. When no one can tempt you with heaven or hell- You'll be a lucky man!"
Lindsay Anderson had a sincere affect on how I looked at life when I was a teenager... and MacDowell was the actor a lot of us could look at and see something of ourselves in. (I'll leave it to you to see if that includes or does not include "Caligula".)
And Price... he's one of those brilliant walking idiosyncracies who cannot make "product".
[speaking at age 61] "In the morning I feel about 50; then, depending on how the day goes, I might get down to about 22. When I'm directing on stage, I'm 43 and 32 when making a film because I feel less in control. Acting? Oh, then I'm 24. And when I'm on my own, I feel about 17 and think the world is all before me."
No wonder he affected me when I was 17.
It's time to get that affect going again, I'd say...!
In 1982 I saw this guy in a bar who was dressed in short-shorts and a tank top. It was October and everone else was wearing jeans, flannel, or leather. My partner and I had a few laughs watching him get all kinds of attention. The following day he came to look at the apartment across the hall from me that had just been vacated by my brother. He moved in and became my neighbor. Steven was born in Alphabet City in New York, and introduced himself by saying "I'll be the loud Italian across the hawl."
Within a year, my relationship had ended and Steven's ceiling in his apartment had fallen twice after it had rained. He wanted a better apartment and I needed to forget a bad relationship, so he became my roomate. A great friendship happened and he helped me get a good job where he was working. It was Lavern & Shirley at Le Bel Age Hotel in West Hollywood.
My only quibble with him was his energy level. He was always "ON". His music was too. So, I put together a tape of music that he could use to calm himself down. Way before the word "chill" turned into a form of music, this was his chill tape.

My Wisconsin friend did a makeover on Dr. "Frankenstein" and the Creature. He got a VHS and studied it to give "The True Story" some honest to goodness track titles. He then did some electronic tinkering to improve the sound. Finally, he redressed the project with an excellent front and back cover. Now reintroducing...
"Frankenstein : The True Story" by Gil Melle **In two parts**
Speaking of Lindsay Anderson and Malcolm McDowell, I believe Criterion has just reissued "If." Talk about an influential film! I just made a copy of it.
All this talk about Tiomkin's "Alamo" remindes me: I was in basic training at Lackland Air Force Base back in 1959 when they were filming John Wayne's flick nearby.
Wayne & Chill Wills came out to the base and gave a presentation in the assembly hall. Both were bombed to the gills and I thought the colonel in charge was going to have a stroke. But they invited any Airman who wasn't on duty to come out to the shoot (just outside of San Antonio) and be extras on the film.
If I thought Tiomkin would have been there, I would have gone. Instead I went horseback riding with the colonel's daughter in Breckinridge Park while he was distracted back at the base. Malcolm McDowell would have been proud of me.
I used to collect Frankie Laine's 78s when I was little, always having been a big fan. I can post my collection which includes most of his popular stuff from the 1940s and 1950s. As it's not September yet, the question is: when to post?
August 23, 2007 5:55 AM
mel said... @ isbum re Memory Laine
p.s. How I would love to have that Be@r F@mily set...
I can also post Jazz Spectacular, with Buck Clayton.
August 23, 2007 6:17 AM
p.p.s.: Actually, there's more than one Be@r F@mily set - one consists of 6 CDs and another of 9 CDs and there may even be a third.
You're more than welcome for the Spoliansky, my friend - I wish I could get more. I doubt whether you'd be interested in his Berlin cabaret songs - but if you'd like to hear them, say the word.
I'm still marvelling at the fact that thanks to you I now have that Saint Joan music that has been haunting me (and ruggo) all these years...
@ The Memory Laines - OK, quick update on what I have Frankie-wise. I have a live concert, and a Platinum Collection. I went through a wee Frankie phase, mostly because of his movie songs. Any DVD rippers care to rip "The Hanging Tree" for me, I would be eternally grateful.
I don't have the Be@r F@mily set (9CD's, gah!), but I can see what seems to be it, albeit at an assortment of bitrates. Man alive, that's a mission and a half.
@ janus - Thanks mate for Ashanti, grabbing it now. Jolly jolly:))
@ oh Mel, I was asking chimez about Memory Laine. :)
It was his idea, no? Yes I sure was encouraged by your remarks. I wanted to find out if everyone likes that we open September 007 with it.
Here's how that should go Mel. I wait until the clocks here turn a bit past midnight to open the new month's post. This will happen here on Friday night on the 31st.
If I am right you can post the first of your Frankie's at 8:00 am on Saturday, London time.
@ mr. t - Oh brother, you had to bring "The Devils 8" up! Theirs a store on Hollywood Blvd. that has two copies of that. He know's that they're rare, so he's priced them at 60 dollars each. Maybe I should panhandle in front of his store, you know, hold up a cardboard sign that reads "Need Money for Film Scores".
@ chimez Here is the London Cast Recording of Sondheim's Saturday Night. I will have anyone Can Whistle for you this weekend. http://rapidshare.com/files/50915136/sndheim-satnite.rar
It is indeed Mancini, one of his earlier efforts, from 1958, it's credited to several people on soundtrackcollector. however, on the back cover of the LP, other than one track, all the tracks are credited to either Mancini, or Mancini/Carey. Most of the songs are performed by Jimmy Daley and the Ding a Lings. NOt one of the best Mancini's, but interesting nonetheless. Hope this helps! JP
I have one more Schwarz recording of American music -- his Hovhaness CD. If you'd like, I'll post it.
I also can dig up a souvenir of his unfairly maligned runs at a) Mostly Mozart and b) the 92nd Street Y -- a recording he made at the latter of the former's 40th and 41st symphonies.
The next one I look forward to hearing is the much delayed official release of his Hanson Merry Mount recording. There was a bootleg of it around on one of those excellent opera cd/dvd sites which I heard pieces of.
As I mentioned some time ago, I used to have the Tibbett/Serafin Met premiere and loved what I could hear of it.
It's not very often I feel moved to download anything, but ASHANTI has long been a favourite of mine (for the main title mainly). A rather funky score to be sure. The film it was written for was crap mind you, but it wouldn't be the first time that the music turned out better than the movie:-)
So thanks again. Is there a track list for this anywhere by the way? I haven't been able to find one.
@ mr. t - If you want to go in on "The Devils 8" I'll give you the address to the store. Just send it Attention: Kevin Donan - "The Devil's 8" for Larry. At: As The Record Turns 6727 3/8 Hollywood Blvd. Hollywood, Ca. 90028
Store Tel# (323) 466 7273 Kevin's cell# (323) 251 4895 Those are in case you want to ask him about other records. He's a cool Asian guy who's worked for Quincy Jones for so long that he takls and sounds like "Q". It's the darndest thing, really.
I can chip in on it "t", but at the moment trying to finance a better needle for this turntable. That, and the "7-Ups"/"Wind&the Lion" purchases have set me back.
Let me know here if you want this, and I'll give Kevin a call to let him know what's going on.
@ ennioman - "When You Wish.." wasn't on either Lp, but at Soundtrack Collector I noticed several versions of these recordings available on Cd's. BBC Records no doubt instigated the initial release, but I have a feeling some other lables paid licencing fee's for re-issues.
Yes, it's signed "To Paul and Dorothy" and I have no idea how it ended up at a record store in Culver City, California.
Interesting, this Roy Budd album was released on CD I seem to remember it having a photo on the front of Indiana Jones, which I'm sure had that track on, can never find it these days though..
A damn good find for you my friend.
OK, here is a real favourite of mine, don't know if it has been posted here before, from Vinyl, no CD ever released, here's The Girl from Uncle, the original 1966 cover album from Teddy Randazzo, I can never get enough of this album version, hope it is new to someone and hope you enjoy it.
Lina Wertmuller's "Seduction of Mimi" is the basis for this "remake" as it were. Carl Gottlieb (Jaws screenplay) was in residence at Universal. + points for using a saw blade as an insturment in the opening of the track. Big Plus - The songs lyric's actually are about the movie that follows it. That almost never happens with movie songs.
play it funky now!
Can anyone find this in a better bit rate? It's the '12 inch mix at nearly 7 min.'s.
Just grab the track listing for the devil's 8 if you want to save your money, 'cause here it is, hope it's complete, not my rip, thanks to my friend Jim for this one!
Glad I made you happy with the Ashanti OST. How right you are about many films having music that is far better than the film itself. As for track listing, you should be able to find whatever you need at www.soundtrackcollector.com or www.italiansoundtracks.com
@ janus - Many thanks for Ashanti, a beautiful clear rip. I can't locate a cover picture or track listing anywhere either, so any help would be much appreciated.
Some time back, someone posted some Sven Libaek links. I missed them at the time, but am particularly interested in an Australian 70s TV series called "Boney". Did anyone snare this, and could do a re-up? TIA.
One other request: "Pretty Baby" (1978) Jelly Roll Morton & various
I'm new in your paradise... and this post is about: -"Follow me" John Barry -"Le Choc" Philippe Sarde and the none editing CD's of this composer. -The persuaders ( Amicalement Votre ) by Ken Thorne - Girls that does not like soundtracks :)
In English: I'm new here and I'm happy to see all the wonderfull comunity of the soundtracks fan sharing beautiful scores. I want specially to thanks the guy which a few months ago shared the absolutly beautiful John Barry soundtrack of "Follow me" the title song "Follow Follow" is one of the greatest peace of art made by John. I was looking for this soundtrack for months!!! So thousands of thanks for this present! I'm french and I'm looking for all soundtrack of one of our finest composer Philippe Sarde and specially the soundtrack of "Le Choc" with Delon and Deneuve... If anyone??? Someone also put a request 2 months ago about the Ken Thorne music for "The persuaders": http://plissken.free.fr/Covers/P/Persuaders%20back.jpg Any news about this CD??? I'm searching for these musics for years!!!
Sorry for this very long message it's my first one :)
Thanks again to everybody boys (and girls??? why girls do not like soundtracks execpt "Dirty Dancing"??? this is quiet a mystery from mother nature! if anyone has an answer i will be thrilled to hear it...) You are just all fantastic!
@ chimez Here is OCR of Anyone Can Whistle with Angela Lansbury, Lee Remick & Harry Guardino, which in my opinion is light years ahead of the Carnegie Hall concert recording with Bernadette Peters and Scott Bakula. I enjoy that one too but the original is so perfect, it would be difficult to top by any cast. http://www.megaupload.com/?d=8SQXOCJS
* this compilation from '01 features tracks from Quincy's film scores as well as popular film themes "What's New Pussycat?" "Baby Elephant Walk" "A Hard Day's Night".
@ one bite - Thank you sooo much for "L'Ultima Chance" by Luis E. Bacalov, I was alway's curious about where "Montreal Non Stop" came from. Track 2 has the feel of something from Schifrin's "Dirty Harry". Now don't be a stranger here. I love the crime/cop genre. Sounds like you do too.
I was reading my newly bought "The Unabridged Marilyn, Her Life From A To Z", and i've found something interesting in the "records"... GENTLEMEN PREFER BLONDES Lablel: MGM Records Date: 1953 reissued 1957 Songs included: "Bye Bye Baby" "A Little Girl From Little Rock" "Diamonds Are A Girl's Best Friend" "When Love Goes Wrong" Other musical numbers from the show.
HI all, I'm really looking for the following digit*ovies issues of the following Guido & Maurizio De Angelis scores. Any help would be so very much appreciated and the rewards should be good!
-La tigre è ancora viva: Sandokan alla riscossa
-Milano trema:la polizia vuole giustizia (aka The violent professionals)
I agree with you about the ACW recordings. Bakula is a much better musical performer than Guardino who maybe was cast as a hipper version of Sidney ("Is this the note? What about this one? Okay, does it matter??") Chaplin... but the original is definitely just that -- an original.
Is there anybody who can tell me what is the name of the last song in Jungle fever, the one that Stevie WOnder sings and which I think is not in the officiel soundtrack ?
@ chimez, ruggo, constantino Here is a recent work by Andre Previn, his violin concerto composed for then-wife, violinist Anne Sophie Mutter. The composer conducts the Boston Symphony Orchestra: http://rapidshare.com/files/51250349/andrprvn-violncncrto.rar CD rip @320
As promised, one of the earlier works from Henry Mancini. 16 tracks, 9 of them instrumental. A young Rod McKuen is credited as writer and vocals on two songs, and Bill Haley makes an appearance too. According to the notes, it’s a vinyl rip cleaned up with Cool Edit Pro…
@ ennioman - Not sure what problem your email refers to. I just got back from seeing "Right at Your Door". Tomandandy score was rather Tangerine Dream'ish.
@ filmpac - It's also Argentina day. I knew when I put Schifrin and Bacalov together that I was onto something.
@ chimesatmidnight - What are you muttering about? ;)
@ ennioagain - I have some version of "Sbrerro(sp!)" here that I can upload. But I have some Bollywood to drop here and a Hawaiian Luau to attend tonight.
The Mutter is Anne-Sophie... a very beautiful violinist who in her twenties pursued an affair with the 80 plus German conduct Herbert von Nazijan...
And who recently married (and even more recently) divorced our very own Andre Previn who is in his early 80's.
I'm just trying to figure out if Mutter will be able to find yet another conductor sufficiently elderly enough to do her fabled "hump-me-dump-me" dance with.
@ amadues – Time to cross another Steiner off your list mate. 17 tracks, 45 minutes. For some reason it compressed a fair bit more than usual, so I wouldn’t be surprised in the least if it’s in mono, even though Winamp claims it to be Joint Stereo. However, since this is the only way you are likely to find it, hope you enjoy…
That's incredible, now what's the history of that recording? It is obviously the cuts from the original CVox LP I think from 1973, but it's so clean, in fact if you listen to the DM version (The first 10 tracks being the original album cut) it is no where near the quality of this version, track 2 is the obvious giveaway, on DM version it sounds (rather poorly) ripped from vinyl as the quiet introduction to track 2 reveals a regular scratch mark, but this is not evident on yours..
@ One bite
Do you know the history of your version? If this was ripped direct from the DM disc, it suggests they done it rather badly??
As always thank you -- I had been hoping to hear this one day. My favorite Mutter recording, for what it's worth, is her Lutoslawski -- but I always recognize her warmth and precise vision when her work is on the radio.
As for Previn -- does anyone have any of his excellent Vaughan Williams recordings.
If you or anyone is interested, I'd be happy to post his recording of the Brahms Requiem which, to me, is as essential as the Klemperer.
ruggo,
Trebs is a charming singer and an actress who makes Sarah Brightman look like Meryl Streep. Her current beau is someone I know a bit -- the far more remarkable singer and actor Erwin Schrott. (You can look him up on YouTube.)
Also look up Rinat Shaham -- who can manage to be both the best Carmen
constantino,
You're always so kind. I have that one! And I love it. When my comp crashed I was able to restore almost all my files. The Alfven was one that was missing.
If you have the Chandos Georges Auric I posted, would you mind uploading that? It also got swallowed by the comp god.
What I meant to add about Rini is that she is the best Carmen around in the opinion of many -- and an excellent Mozart mezzo. (She sang Dorabella at Glyndebourne this summer and ate many sheep.)
I'd like to say a very big thank you to whoever uploaded ASHANTI, what a very nice clean rip.
It seems there is a problem finding any form of cover, so I have done this FRONT cover to get us going for the time being, if anyone can locate a track listing I'd be happy to go ahead with a back for CD case.
Regarding the ASHANTI rip... that's one of the best LP rips I've ever heard. You can hear all the detail in the music (I assume the original recording was a good one too). Excellent and (as I said before) thanks for posting.
And the cover that has been posted is a nice addition too thanks! Still can't find any track listing but hey - you can't have everything;-)
Mine version is from slsk, but I`m sure it is a DM CD rip, save one corrupted song-no. 13. I think that all you have to do is to find that song, the rest sounds fine for me.
Hi mate, please, don't think I'm questioning your post, no way. What I was questioning was DM first 10 tracks compared to the first 10 tracks posted by Isbum, the DM tracks (first 10) sound very tired to me and evident of surface noise, again compared to Isbum's post, I'm just curious as to if DM used a vinyl release as source for the first half of their CD..
Yep I agree with you 100% my friend. I just couldn't see DM doing anything on the cheap, they're too good a label. I suspect we have Isbum's first 10 tracks (taken from the DM release) and your tracks 11 - 20 also taken from the DM, just short with that track 13, but as I said, no-one is to blame for that.
Now, if we can just find those other 3 scores! :-)
I've had a lot of difficulty uploading, this weekend, but finally...
BRUNO NICOLAI, “Eugenie”, Roma, 1969, Deluxe Edition @224
Classic Lounge, Bossa, Mariachi, Psychedelic, and Rock styles, composed, orchestrated and conducted by Maestro Nicolai, featuring Edda dell’Orso, Alessandro Alessandroni (sitar, guitar, and vox), I Cantori di Alessandro Alessandroni, and two unidentified solo singers.
Featuring all 36 versions from the CD, plus 27 additional tracks, marked (#), (which include LP edits, reprise edits, a few dialogue excerpts and one unreleased cue ripped from the movie, and a few channel isolations, where musically interesting). Amongst the recent run of Piccioni’s we had, methinks this one didn’t get posted. From a most unusual Mafia flick, comes a most unusual Mafia score. Not at all what one would expect, this is a very laid back affair. Still, it comes with a bullet, highly recommended…
@ ennioman, I need your expertise, my friend. Nico Fidenco sings "Exodus" (Chronicles, disc 2, track 16). Please remind me which EM score used this theme. It's an obvious one, but I just can't put my finger on it.
@ quinlan - I checked my email, but nothing in their from you. Is the new excel word file ready?
I'll just set it up anyway.
@ filmpac - The trip to India was just me exploring a bit. Reza and another crew got my interest up. BTW - "Sa-Re-Ga Machan" by Shankar has some melodie's that are reminicent of Ennio Morricone.
Thanks for Serpico isbum, got some more requests. The Krays (1990) Michael Kamen Score Mona Lisa (1986) Michael Kamen Score Midnight (1982) Quintessence Razorback (1984) Iva Davies and any of the Ronald Stein Collections. If any one has Mad, Mod & Macabre - The Ronald Stein Collection. That would rock.
I don't think this was ever part of an EM soundtrack, it was released in Italy as a 7" 45rpm, and was arranged and conducted by Morricone, who I think at the time was contracted to RCA Italy.
I don't know if you may be confusing it with the track Exodus, which appears on the stunning Moses The Lawgiver composed by Morricone?
Thank you very much for L'Amica, I have tried downloading this twice and seem to have a problem extracting Track 11, I wondered if you could check this on a Download.
@ mel I quite agree with you pal for "The Torch With The Blue Flame". It's not with this one that Jackie has chance to win the King Of Swing contest. I'll try to wake you up with the next one.
Did you manage to get the complete score of Breakfast At Tiffany's soundtrack? If not it's available on sallie's blog, http://thevintageplace.blogspot.com/
Just click on the label "Audrey Hepburn".
And I wasn't kidding about Torch With The Blue Flame - it's great!
Apparently this came as a bonus CD on a giallo DVD set. A couple of tracks overlap on the Amorosa(s) posted previously, but not too many. Yep, it’s another Cipriani compilation, so y’all know what to expect by now…
@filmpac i knew that you were the first who wud complete my max steniers collection thanks alot man for Dark victory and about the battle cry i'll wait till u'll find it thanks again
Bacalov's "L'Anica". What a treat this music is! Like a souffle for the ears, light, lovely and warm.
Ferrio's "La Calandria" is a delight as well! It's like an Italian "Tom Jones". Thank you for these terrific posts my friend, they will be cherished additions to the collected works of two of my favorite composers.
@ h20 & 3410 - Very much looking foreward to your post's as well. Having one of those "what do I take first?" kind of days. Great!!

Hi all,
Been away for a while. Glad to be back!
All the best,
Paul

TECH HELP REQUEST
I have a number of downloaded albums which are in a one file CD-image format. They also include a seperate CD image with a designation .cue
I have no problem converting the single file from .ape or whatever format and burning a CD, Wave or MP3 (with a single file).
Does anyone know how to break these things up into the individual tracks that make up that file?

Hello everybody!
I don`t know if Luis Bacalov L`Ultima Chance soundtrack have been posted?
If there is an interest,I can upload it.
Also, anyone have Mondo Hollywood soundtrack by Mike Curb?
@ one bite - Bacalov's "L'Ultima Chance" was requested by me some time ago. Yes, I would love hearing this score!
Sadly, i don't have your request though.
@ mel
My deepest thanks for the two Jackie Gleasons which I did download, listen and appreciated very much.
@ isbum
Also great, great thanks for thinking of me with Chuck Mangione. My compilation for you should come up soon.
I have something being uploded for you at the moment. Should be ready for posting in half an hour.
@ ruggo
I had to split up an .ape file a few weeks ago. If you cannot find, let me know and I can get more specific with url's, etc.

scoredaddy,
I'm not doing too well at finding the Moross yet -- but I will get it.
Whaddaya think?
@ isbum
I didn't see your request of July 19 for Ennio Morricone's OST of "Duck, You Sucker" fulfilled.

@filmpac & scoredaddy

Does anyone have a link for artwork to STEPHEN KING'S "THE NIGHT FLIER" SCORE? Please help!
Seems more than one of us is on a hunt for covers. I've just spent a fruitless half hour looking for a cover pic to Stu Phillips "Angels From Hell" soundtrack. Anyone have one, or a link?
I've looked around at all my sources for "ANGELS FROM HELL" art but no luck. Anyone have "THE NIGHT FLIER"?
@ quinlan
Glad you are enjoying the first two Jackie Gleasons - you’re always welcome.
Here is the third and last one - Tawny - which, unlike the others, is my own rip – from a 10” LP which unfortunately doesn’t have a cover and I couldn’t find large enough artwork.

@ warlock
Firstly I'd like to congratulate you for your very fine new blog and thank you very much for your numerous contributions in July.

@ joshyr
I failed to raise a question concerning your July 30 post of "Breakfast At Tiffany's" Expanded Bootleg.

@ chimez – Finally, after all your great posts, you have wandered into my domain and I get to give one back to you. I second your requests for either the 4CD Tiomkin best of set, or Alamo expanded, I only have the regular release.

THANKS!!!!
PS. Does anyone remember that the script's title was "O Coffee Man"?
Brother filmpac,
Much gratitude and joy from the Tiomkin.
Chimes my friend, that's close enough for me ;-)
Hope it jogs a few memories.

"Everyone is going through changes
No one knows what's going on.
And everybody changes places
But the world still carries on." -
and the song would always make me feel better.
"O Lucky Man!":
If you have a friend on whom you think you can rely -
You are a lucky man!
If you've found the reason to live on and not to die -
You are a lucky man!
"Poor people":
Someone's got to win in the human race-
If it isn't you, then it has to be me.
"Sell, sell"
Running here, running there
Keep it moving, sonny, don't despair
Because the next one will be, the next one will be, the next one will be, the best one of the year
"Look over your shoulder"
When everything in life seems just as it should be
At last success seems just around the door
Don't forget boy
Look over your shoulder
'Cause things don't stay the same forever more
"Justice":
We all want justice but you got to have the money to buy it
You'd have to be a fool to close your eyes and deny it
"My Town":
Down on the corner of the street
Where I was born we used to meet
And sing the old songs
We called them dole songs
"Changes":
Love must always change to sorrow
And everyone must play the game,
Here today and gone tomorrow-
But the world goes on the same.
And that's what you may learn in the end of your journey to the top of the stairs, to the success:
"Takers and fakers and talkers won't tell you.
Teachers and preachers will just buy and sell you.
When no one can tempt you with heaven or hell-
You'll be a lucky man!"
@ Chimes
I'm guessing you're a Happy man! :-)
So pleased you are enjoying it.

ennioman,
I am!
Yup... I'm happy!!!!!
From imdb... Lindsay Anderson

Enjoy! JP

@ chimezatmidnight - I think you were looking for "Road Show" in that earlier post.
chimes@midnight
Malcolm McDowell would have been proud of me.
isbum,
You think good.

I used to collect Frankie Laine's 78s when I was little, always having been a big fan. I can post my collection which includes most of his popular stuff from the 1940s and 1950s. As it's not September yet, the question is: when to post?

p.p.s.: Actually, there's more than one Be@r F@mily set - one consists of 6 CDs and another of 9 CDs and there may even be a third.
@ janus2810

Here is the London Cast Recording of Sondheim's Saturday Night. I will have anyone Can Whistle for you this weekend. http://rapidshare.com/files/50915136/sndheim-satnite.rar
@ Mel
It is indeed Mancini, one of his earlier efforts, from 1958, it's credited to several people on soundtrackcollector. however, on the back cover of the LP, other than one track, all the tracks are credited to either Mancini, or Mancini/Carey. Most of the songs are performed by Jimmy Daley and the Ding a Lings. NOt one of the best Mancini's, but interesting nonetheless. Hope this helps! JP

scoredaddy,
Thank you for the Saturday Night.
As I mentioned some time ago, I used to have the Tibbett/Serafin Met premiere and loved what I could hear of it.
ruggo,
Thank you for that extended set of Mexican music -- you created my weekend's project of downloading it.
The absorption of the music itself is gonna take a leeeeetle longer than a weekend... and I'm kind of insanely h happy over the use of time.
Again -- thank you!!!
@Janus:

That, and the "7-Ups"/"Wind&the Lion" purchases have set me back.

-"Follow me" John Barry
-"Le Choc" Philippe Sarde and the none editing CD's of this composer.
-The persuaders ( Amicalement Votre ) by Ken Thorne
- Girls that does not like soundtracks :)
http://plissken.free.fr/Covers/P/Persuaders%20back.jpg
In English:

Now, I just need a cover picture (sigh).

Here is OCR of Anyone Can Whistle with Angela Lansbury, Lee Remick & Harry Guardino, which in my opinion is light years ahead of the Carnegie Hall concert recording with Bernadette Peters and Scott Bakula. I enjoy that one too but the original is so perfect, it would be difficult to top by any cast.

-La tigre è ancora viva: Sandokan alla riscossa
-Milano trema:la polizia vuole giustizia (aka The
violent professionals)
-Il soldato di ventura (aka Soldier of Fortune)
-Piedone Lo Sbirro
-Il Corsaro Nero
Thanks
Ennioman
scoredaddy,
Thank you again!
I agree with you about the ACW recordings. Bakula is a much better musical performer than Guardino who maybe was cast as a hipper version of Sidney ("Is this the note? What about this one? Okay, does it matter??") Chaplin... but the original is definitely just that -- an original.
A request...
Does anyone have Hugo Alfven's Symphony No. 3?
Thanks!

Just for the record, Bacalov is from Argentina.

Is there anybody who can tell me what is the name of the last song in Jungle fever, the one that Stevie WOnder sings and which I think is not in the officiel soundtrack ?

Wow, Olaf, that's was pretty quick, thanks a lot! :))
Thanks onebit for Guido & Maurizio De Angelis "Piedone Lo Sbirro", fantastic OST
@ One bite
Still listening to your generous upload, just got to track 13 which is really corrupted, maybe someone else could confirm?
Is there any chance this could be re-ripped, it's such a great score.
Ennioman
@ calmos - I hope you don't mind me sharing this with ennioman & some others here.
All credit to calmos for this highly entertaining score.

I must have missed the memo about it being Italian Day here at FranklyNot.
scoredaddy,
Thank you so much for the Previn violin concerto.
With von Karajan dead and her divorced from Previn... is there a major conductor on earth on earth is old enough for Mutter to love?
@ Clint's archive
Sorry mate,I see now that this track (13) is corrupted.
However,it is the only copy I have :(
@ One bite
Not a problem mate, I knew that could very well have been the case.
Ennioman
@ ennioman - Not sure what problem your email refers to. I just got back from seeing "Right at Your Door". Tomandandy score was rather Tangerine Dream'ish.
@ filmpac - It's also Argentina day. I knew when I put Schifrin and Bacalov together that I was onto something.
@ chimesatmidnight - What are you muttering about? ;)
@ ennioagain - I have some version of "Sbrerro(sp!)" here that I can upload. But I have some Bollywood to drop here and a Hawaiian Luau to attend tonight.
isbum,
The Mutter is Anne-Sophie... a very beautiful violinist who in her twenties pursued an affair with the 80 plus German conduct Herbert von Nazijan...
Max Steiner “Dark Victory” (1939), @320:

@ chimez - "hump-me-dump-me"... whatthe??

I have to shut up now or I'll get started on opera's STDiva, Anna Netrebko.
Hey everyone!
Just got back from a trip. Got to thank so many of you for great uploads, especially scoredaddy, ruggo and chimezatmidnight!

*this isn't complete*
I just hope that it containes the track you guys need.
Good luck
@ Isbum
Ennioman
scoredaddy,
As always thank you -- I had been hoping to hear this one day.
It also got swallowed by the comp god.
ruggo,
What I meant to add about Rini is that she is the best Carmen around in the opinion of many -- and an excellent Mozart mezzo.
Ennioman
@ Isbum
Thanks for the Deleriun comp ....very good reminded me of Psicedelico Jazzistico_Morricone

Ashanti Front cover
http://rapidshare.com/files/51407587/Ashanti_front_FINAL_DRAFT.zip.html
Ennioman
Regarding the ASHANTI rip... that's one of the best LP rips I've ever heard. You can hear all the detail in the music (I assume the original recording was a good one too). Excellent and (as I said before) thanks for posting.
And the cover that has been posted is a nice addition too thanks! Still can't find any track listing but hey - you can't have everything;-)
@ Ennioman
Mine version is from slsk, but I`m sure it is a DM CD rip, save one corrupted song-no. 13.
I think that all you have to do is to find that song, the rest sounds fine for me.
@ One bite
Hi mate, please, don't think I'm questioning your post, no way. What I was questioning was DM first 10 tracks compared to the first 10 tracks posted by Isbum, the DM tracks (first 10) sound very tired to me and evident of surface noise, again compared to Isbum's post, I'm just curious as to if DM used a vinyl release as source for the first half of their CD..
Ennioman
@ simon31 - Hello and welcome to our home.
@ ennioman - Thanks for "Whick Way is Up?" at 320 man. What a booty-shaker. I haven't a clue where the "Piedone Lo Sbirro" came from, sorry.

@ Ennioman
I suspect that mine version is vinyl, upgraded with bonus tracks (one corrupted) from CD reissue.
I don`t know,what do you think?
@ One bite
Yep I agree with you 100% my friend. I just couldn't see DM doing anything on the cheap, they're too good a label. I suspect we have Isbum's first 10 tracks (taken from the DM release) and your tracks 11 - 20 also taken from the DM, just short with that track 13, but as I said, no-one is to blame for that.
Now, if we can just find those other 3 scores! :-)
Cheers for confirming One bite.
Ennioman
I've had a lot of difficulty uploading, this weekend, but finally...

Does anyone have THE ROLLING STONE 500 GREATEST SONGS #'s101-200?
Just thought I'd ask.
Amongst the recent run of Piccioni’s we had, methinks this one didn’t get posted. From a most unusual Mafia flick, comes a most unusual Mafia score. Not at all what one would expect, this is a very laid back affair. Still, it comes with a bullet, highly recommended…
Piero Piccioni “Lucky Luciano” (1973), @256:
http://rapidshare.com/files/51506768/PP-LuckyLuciano.zip
@ isbum – I confess I find it hard to get into Bollywood stuff, but it must have been one interesting luau, Bollywood style.
@ ennioman – Thanks for the Ashanti cover mate, will do nicely until a real one comes along:)
@ ruggo - Think torrents, my friend, all available there.
@ isbum
Did you check your mail box?
Thank you for your attention.
@ ennioman,
I need your expertise, my friend.
@ reza - Impression's of A Patch of Blue is an excellent share.
Mel, check this one out.
Thanks for Serpico isbum, got some more requests.
The Krays (1990) Michael Kamen Score
Mona Lisa (1986) Michael Kamen Score

Ref Nico Fidenco sings "Exodus"
I don't think this was ever part of an EM soundtrack, it was released in Italy as a 7" 45rpm, and was arranged and conducted by Morricone, who I think at the time was contracted to RCA Italy.
I don't know if you may be confusing it with the track Exodus, which appears on the stunning Moses The Lawgiver composed by Morricone?

Do any of you (awesome foursome) have an old album by Jerry Murad's Harmonicats, called Theme from the Avengers & others
As I've found out in the past, its always worth asking ;)
Thanks dudes
SOMEBODY has a lot to answer for! Big time. When discussion of Frankie Laine came up recently, I realized that I had no Frankie Laine.
How could that be? In the late '40's, when I was just a kid, we had a neighborhood club. Our theme song was Frankie Laine's "Ghost Riders."
When the Frankie subject arose, I had to "Limewire" around to get the man into my archives.
Oh...My...God! Even "Champion, The Wonder Horse!" I'm 11 years old again today. Why am I crying?
@quinlan
Thanks so very much for your archiving efforts. Invaluable.
