Does anybody know if there is a soundtrack to "The Last Place On Earth?" This was a Granada film circa 1985 about the race to the South Pole between Scott and Amundsen and the music is by Trevor Jones. Thank you

@ simon underwood - Happy to report the two tracks from the Dracula compilation arrived safe and sound, no errors unzipping and playing. We can put the hammer and stake down now, thanks for the speedy response and good result:)

@ ennioman - One Mummy down, and one to go, coming soon...

Carlo Martelli "Curse Of The Mummy's Tomb" (1964), @192:

@ quint - Sad to report there does not appear to be any official releases for your request, not even bootlegs. Pity, coz they would be mighty fine indeedy.

@ all - Welcome to the new people at Franklynot the last couple of days. Please don't be discouraged if your request does not appear immediately, some take a little longer than others, but few go overlooked. Enjoy your stay!

@ALL - I thank everybody who helped with our HAMMER fixation this weekend. Some great scores were shared. Tried to up SHE/VENGEANCE OF SHE & TASTE THE BLOOD OF DRACULA but our speedy friends got there first. I had demons and boogey men to fight last night. It was tough going but I made it out alive!!!:)

@Simon Underwood - Thanks for re-upping the 2 bad tracks.

THE MUMMY will be up in about 20 minutes. Sorry no scans or covers, tracks only. There will also be a suprise horror upped along with it.

@ Keving

Please mate, covers are not considered the priority here and are usually considered a bonus. I think you'll find that a lot of people who keep music on file are usually happy just to have a 300 x 300 image for their folder, usually obtainable via soundtrack collector.

As it is, I can scan front and back covers from these 2 cd's in my collection, but not just yet bud. As Isbum can tell you, I've been away from here the best part of 8 months, working on a project, which involved me working a great deal of that time at a bloody scanner! ;-)

So the very last thing I want to do right now is stand at a scanner to be honest.

I'm just trying to spend a bit of time back here giving something back... in the shape of music.

If the music I put up comes from a folder and that folder already contains artwork or booklet or cover scans I'll always include it in the upload.

Please be patient, your request is noted and the next time I have to plug the scanner in, I will in deed scan those 2 covers for you.

One last "horror" from my Hammers is available if anyone's interested - The Hammer Comedy Film Music Collection. Not quite up with the rest of our shares, and if you're outside the UK then On The Buses, Love Thy Neighbour and Man About The House probably don't mean much to you, but if anyone's wants I'm happy to up it.

Yeah, that's a good shout actually mate, never had this CD and loved those 'Buses' movies, ever spot the lovely Caroline Munro on the Navy Rum posters outside the bus garage?? ;-)

I do have a nice Hammer rarity to put up later after I find the CD, I say rare as I have never seen it since I obtained it from a Car Boot sale for about £2.00! In fact, SC only lists it as an LP..

Have I got you curious yet?
Pop Quiz:
The LP was released on EMI around 1974..

Legend of the Seven Golden Vampires with Peter Cushing narration? Can't think of any other late hammers that would have had tie-in records?

Hammer Comedy will be up in a couple of hours (trying to fit it in between work!)

Clint's archive said...

@ Simon Underwood

You are so close bud, funny you mention that, I have that album too, and there's a story behind that. I have a digital recording of that particular LP but its on MD! I don't have all of my equipment set up at the moment to convert it to CD, but this recording was available on the first ever R1 DVD release of the movie as an extra, and from where I dropped it to MD.
Great recording, great album.

No, it's the other Narration LP mate, 'Hammer presents Dracula' with Christopher Lee a great nostalgia piece, plus four musical sections 'Four Faces of Evil' with music from:
Fear in the Night
She
Vampire Lovers
Doctor Jekyll and Sister Hyde

Anyway found the CD and about to rip it now at 320, that's if interested mate? ;-)

Sad news indeed, Morricone Lover & Musica del Septimo Arte kaput (:

Benoit & Josereal, our thoughts are with you, if I can assist in any way please do not hesitate to ask.

I am a little loathe to mention this, last time I did so the feed also got yanked. So, I won't post my link, but here is a quick how-to access the Morricone Lover posts. The trick is to sign up for a subscription to Google Reader, if you don't have one already. You then add a subscription in there to the old Morricone Lover link. All past postings will magically appear via the stored RSS feed. If you need more help, just ask.

Sadly this trick doesn't work with Septimo Arte, as it was a private blog.

Hope that helps ease the pain a little.

The CITY OF PRAGUE PHILHARMONIC, frequently aided by the CROUCH FESTIVAL CHORUS has been at the forefront of newly recorded film music that is nothing short of spectacular in its interpretation and sonic quality.

This is part 1 of a major compilation which includes almost 400 tracks ( 4 gigs) of some of the best recordings in modern history. I will parcel this out over a period of time to facilitate downloading and collecting.

It will also relieve me of the chore of having to type (hunt-and-peck) an impossibly long track list at one time. Hopefully, any deficiency in the track list will be made up for by the tags in each MP3.

I asked about the players on this Lp at the F@M board, and here's the reply:

Some great West Coast jazzmen on that soundtrack, many familiar to us all for their sterling work on other film scores:

Ted Nash on alto sax.
Heinie Beau (also arranger) on clarinet and alto sax.
Plas Johnson on tenor sax.
Milt Bernhart on trombone.
Conrad Gozzo, Pete Candoli and Cappy Lewis on trumpets.
Lou Levy on piano.
And, to top it all, Shelly Manne on drums!

Thank You.

@isbum

While I know the music is the most important thing, I like to have cover art for my CDs when I can. I think it adds to the experience of being a soundtrack collector.

I have a collection of 2000+ covers I would be willing to upload if you approve of the idea.

Some are my scans, some are artwork found online done by others.

I don't want to step on any toes, so I'll go with whatever you say...

Thank you soooo very much! I'm downloading it now. I was just listing to Howard Shore's score the other day... with some fava beans and a nice chianti. But seriously, I do have the score if anyone wants it.

I have a funny, random story to go along with it. I'm a huge fan of the movie The Silence Of The Lambs. I was walking down a long hallway at the military base at Quantico - where some of the movie was filmed (in the city, not the hallway) - to get my photo taken for a military ID. I was walking slowly looking at the photos of generals ext. on the left side of the wall. Just as the music gets to the EXACT second where we first see Hannibal in the movie, in the last cell on the left, I was at the end of the hallway and the last photo on the left side looked like Hannibal Lector! I broke into hysterical laughter. The person I was with also noticed the photo looked like him but didn't see why I found it so hilarious.

Isbum said...

@ Mel - Sorry pal. I'm not a fan of the Jackie Gleason style.
I am surprised that only 2 people downloaded Mancini's "Combo!".
It has one of the most mesmerizing tracks I've ever heard, "Far East Blues". It's like Hank channeled The Doors "L.A.Woman".
Also has the young John Williams jazz riffing on harpsichord.
As stated on the cover, "The Original Peter Gunn Sound!", this should be considered the 3rd record in Mancini's GUNN series.

I do hope Lounge Legends puts it up at his blog so it gets a little more attention than it received here.

A cracking Jazz score though nevertheless, and a very popular one going by its 176 downloads so far!

ref Dracula CD:
Ahh there you go, the first person 'I know' who has that CD.. one to hold I think mate..
Which begs the question; did you buy it here in the UK, I've never known where you are based?

I've always had this amusing thought that some people here, talking over an international network, could simply be sitting in the same town..or just a few streets away. Guess I've been watching too many Outer Limits

Although MI6 has me jet-setting all over the globe engaging rogue agents that need "silencing" I do have my main hollowed out volcano pad in England (what d'ya mean there aren't any volcano's in the UK :)

P.S.
So where is that crime thriller link hiding then? I couldn't find it going over previous comments, maybe I'm just jetlagged after my last assignment ;)

I've also pondered the wonders of internet communication as well. We build up these images of other people based on their avatars and typing skills (or lack of in my case) and it's usually way off the mark!
Funny that we use a "worldwide" network to speak to some people who may even be in the same street :)

What do you reckon the chances are that if I knock on the wall here it would be your wall too....!!!!

@ isbum - The Fred Karlin "Homeward Bound" you shared is actually from a 1980 TV movie, that starred David Soul. There were a few others too, but you've picked the cream of the crop. Nice to see you giving those promos a re-airing, some fine music from a very under-rated composer.

Sorry, never seen the Fred Karlin Collection Vol 1, although Vampire appears as a lengthy suite on the "Vampire Circus" compilation. Second your request there bud.

Isbum said...

@ filmpac - Ok. IMDB lists "Homeward Bound" by Karlin.
By coincidence, the producer of
Homeward Bound is Jon Avnet, who has directed Pacino and DeNiro in this weeks "Righteous Kill".

Those Karlin Volumes are about as rare as they come. They were issued in 500-1000 copies.
Actually, lot's of stuff today comes out in those amounts! ;)
We're friggin' rare Filmpac!
Only 1 of each!!

Andreas said...

bistis6 said...

@ all

I'm not really sure that there is a "missing track" on DRAGONSLAYER. The original LP release was 2 discs, and those of us on the board old to remember will recall that for double-LP editions one LP was comprised of sides 1 and 4, while the other LP was sides 2 and 3. When the CD of DRAGONSLAYER was released the track titles were a mish-mash of the sequence of each individual LP . I didn't explain that very clearly but to make a long story short, the track titles were a disaster, so this missing track may be a MacGuffin.

Isbum said...

@ bisti6 - I hope your correct. The version I have is 21 tracks and darned if I want to toss a disc to add one more track.

Ever had a Big Mac-Guffin?
I keep thinking it's actually food.;)

20. "Destroy That Amulet!"/Ulrich Explodes/Vermithrax's Plunge (6:40)
21. The White Horse; Into the Sunset (End Credits) (4:30)

Thanks for posting it, my copy was low-quality anyway.

Jim Barg said...

Oh, and I'd like to make three requests:
Jerry Goldsmith's Hoosiers - saw this in an earlier forum post, but the link was dead.
Any NFL Films compilation CDs - the season's started, and I find myself in a football frame of mind...

and my shot in the dark:
The original orchestral score to Fritz Lang's Metropolis, as heard on the Kino DVD from a few years back. I'm hoping someone, somewhere has a rip. (I have both the soundtrack LP and the LD rip of Giorgio Moroder's 1984 version, if anyone's interested.)

If I've broken any forum rules, I apologize. Thanks anyway, and keep up the excellent work.

@kidflash & bistis6 - Thank you guys for clearing up this mystery. I thought my file was complete but I went to STC to check everything before I uploaded and it listed 22 tracks with #5 as "The Lair". I based not having #5 on this info. Seems like STC is wrong.

I noticed Barry DeVorzon's LOOKER was requested recently. There's no official release and the version posted some time back was a rip in mono so I put together a stereo rip using the DVD.

Some tracks are choppier than others, (especially the first) because of removed effects and dialogue but it's still decent. I included the Sue Saad songs and Vivaldi excerpt too for those who might want them.

Fresh off the scanner here are the front and back covers from Amazing Stories volume 2 and 3.

I did scan the backs through the cd case because I just couldn't bring myself to the point of trying to get them out without accidentally tearing something.

Thanks for the welcome, Isbum. I'm the same J who used to post stuff at Parzival's Melancholia Subobscura and JoseRael's Musica del Septimo Arte. I miss Parzival - he doesn't sound like he's having too good a time at the moment - but he used to mention this site which is what brought me over. I don't think I have nearly as huge a collection as you guys seem to, but I have enthusiasm, and if there's something I can contribute, I will!

@isbum

No problema, compadre. I know exactly what you mean. When you put a lot of time and effort into a project, you go back and give it a listen and damn: your cleaned and almost-like-new child can stand proudly beside the original as a work of art in and of itself.

I felt the same disappointment about the number of downloads from my Bernard Herrmann project. I had gone very patiently through and extracted all the "good stuff" from every soundtrack, then carefully edited the selected material into cohesive suites representing each film's essence.

I may not have gotten the number of downloads I thought such a project deserves, but I did get a greater appreciation for Herrmann's incredible talent. And a repeated listening confirms my feeling that I have a created something which frequently exceeds the sum of its parts and gives the listener a new experience.

Sometimes the self-satisfaction of a job well done has to be sufficient reward.

@Donovan's Brain - Much thanks for your LOOKER rip.

@cigarous - I think the mystery of track #5 has been solved so don't worry about uploading. I have all 21 tracks. Soundtrack Collector totally threw me off with the 22 it lists.

@isbum & THXjay - Thank you both for your work on WICHITA TOWN. Don't remember that TV series.

@keving - Those AMAZING STORIES covers are great. Thank you. Like you I like the covers/booklets etc. but rarely ask for them.
I am going to post my copy of HOOSIERS since you asked for a higher bit rate. Mine is 192kbs.

Thanks very much for the improved bit rate on the HOOSIERS. Plus a bonus GLADIATOR, that's great.

Glad you enjoyed the covers, hope others can use them also.

Could you post the link for your Bernard Herrmann projekt?

@isbum

Thanks for the warm welcome. I am collecting soundtracks since 1977. The soundtrack blogs are a great opportunity to get soundtracks, completetd scores and bootlegs which are very expensive or you would never get on the music market in europe.

Sorry to come so late to answer your so kind proposal of September 7 about the records which were given away (!?!?!? - This is a mark of my amazement. It must be happening only to the blessed ones and you are one of them).
I tell you what I already have: I have the Nelson Riddle (LP) and Henry Mancini's Combo (CD - a great one).
So I am interested by the rest of your list, with priority to the Bobby Hackett.
But please keep cool, no hurry, take your time. Whenever they come, they'll be welcome.
Thank you mate.

Glad you're enjoying the CITY OF PRAGUE PHILHARMONIC film collection. I love the sound quality as well as the magnificent performances of this group and am happy to share it.

Hopefully, there are not too many repeats. Although some track titles may be similar, I have tried to include different cues.

Part 5 is currently uploading and will be available later.

A great individual effort to contribute to a great group of folks. Your efforts are truly highly appreciated. Thanks from the heart!

riddim1903 said...

A question for our technically savvy ones :)

Sometimes you download a soundtrack or whatever piece of music but, while you have the entire music, it's all one big track containing all the individual cues.

So, how do you break this big one track to the actual number and individual tracks as is printed originally on the CD?

Thanks very much in advance...

Peace

I got around to listening to it and the last two tracks are messed up.

Does anyone have Pack you Bags and the End Title, tracks 32 and 33 they could share with me? I have the bootleg but would like the better sound of the re issue.

Thank you in advance.

@riddim 1903

Simple solution when entire CD is in only one single file and there is a seperate cue file.

MEDIEVAL CUE SPLITTER

http://www.medieval.it/content/view/28/71/

This is a very simple to use FREEware. Download, install. Open the program and drag in the single file and the cue file together and voila! It breaks it down and throws the new separated files into the original folder.

Clint's archive said...

@riddim 1903
Just wanted to add to what Ruggo said, usually this would be done by the uploader or original ripper and should be an automatic procedure with most programs?

Is this just a one off or are you getting this with most files you download?

George Greeley was a name I was totally unfamiliar with, up until a couple of months ago. He worked on quite a few TV sitcoms during the 60s, most notably "My Favorite Martian". This disc features his work on that show, rather than a series of short cues, 21 episodes are presented as suites mostly ranging from 2-6 minutes in length. Plus the obligatory opening and closing titles. Enjoy...

George Greeley "My Favorite Martian" (1963-1965), @320:
http://rapidshare.com/files/144307345/GG-MyFavoriteMartian.zip

@ score-brother - Hope this is what you are after, songs only, no score tracks...

VA Soundtrack "Fire, Ice & Dynamite" (1990), LP @192:
http://rapidshare.com/files/144265556/OST-FireIceDynamite.zip

@ quint - Admire your enthusiasm, and hope you can accept this in the spirit in which intended. Your requests don't exist. You lucked out totally with "Looker" (excellent rip too, thanks Donovans Brain). But you need to know that doing a DVD rip isn't like doing a CD rip, you don't just drop the DVD in the slot and hit record. These are a hugely time consuming and fiddly affair, even when they come with isolated score tracks, which most don't. Repeated requests (and in your case several times a day is most definitely repeated) don't sit well with some folk.

@ scifisoundtrack - A score collector since 1977, I hear you saying. Wouldn't have been Star Wars, by any chance;)

@ ruggo - Ruggo, Ruggo, Ruggo, what can we say. Lack of downloads do not equate to lack of appreciation. Some good news, I have completed your Rozsa collection, and will soon be embarking on the Herrmann sweets. They are super jobs mate, no doubt about it. Since you mention you compiled some of the suites yourself, well, that's above and beyond the call. An outstanding job my friend, received with deepest appreciation!
