and J Peter Robinson's score for the new film 'The Bank Job'

thanks

@ breton girl

Do you know how many tracks are on the version of HPATPS that you're looking for? I've had a 2-CD version - with minor FX - for ages but for some reason always assumed it was the one you didn't want. Anwyay, the version I have has 21 tracks on CD 1 and 14 tracks on CD 2. If this sounds like what you're looking for, just say the word...

bistis6 said...

Does anyone have ICEMAN?

Now that he's finally getting some respect via the new box...
here's a brand new rip from one of the original issue Lp's.

AWAY FROM HER- Jerry Goldsmith

Thanks!

@ isbum

Sometime back, but God knows where, I uploaded the original tracks bootleg of EYE OF THE NEEDLE (I found it in Footlight - there was also a boot of the original tracks to LAS EMBRACE, which I passed on. I kick myself often). I also have in a lossless EAC.APE.CUE format the V@rese Club EYE/LAST double-header. Would you like either or both?

filmpac said...

New links have been posted for the Bond Project, available from the FranklyNot Projects box on the main page.

Please note that volumes have been normalized to 92dB using Mp3Gain, to remove "clipping" that can result in high end distortion on some media players.

@ isbum
I did receive your 4 test emails today March 1st.
Did you receive the email I sent you earlier today?
Cheers

filmpac said...

@ elias - Thank you kindly for the "Endless Love" soundtrack. It was a pleasure to take a wander through your blog and pick up some other choice nuggets, very much appreciated.

And since it's a new month, I'll trot out some requests too, that continue to elude me. All have had some form of release, mostly vinyl..

Artie Kane "The Eyes Of Laura Mars" (1978)
Michael Hoppe "Misunderstood" (1984)
Georges Delerue "King Of Hearts" (1967)
Various "The Heartbreak Kid" (1973)
Various "Secret Admirer" (1985)
Various "No Small Affair" (1984)

Cheers to the max if anyone can help on these hard-to-find oldies!

Isbum said...

@ bistis6 - Down on the "Love Scenes" post, Dylan said he would upload the pair of Rozsa's when he had some time.
I wouldn't mind hearing both mp3 and the APE. If he doesn't get around to it and you defer to him, that leaves me wondering when.

I'd say just post it, perhaps dylan will be relieved that he's off the hook.

Isbum said...

@ quinlan - Just received an email marked Test 3 from you now.

Isbum said...

@ quinlan - This is all that I have received from you.

filmpac said...

@ isbum - Previously posted, the one I have is indeed the Tsunami release...

Isbum said...

@ filmpac - I did Kane's Eyes of Laura Mars, CD of King of Hearts was paired with Viva Maria!
"The Heartbreak Kid" was an Lp rip I did back around the time I got you "Little Big Man".
We were in a seriously chatty soundtrack run that also included "Bonnie & Clyde" and "Five Easy Pieces".

I'll have a look to see if any of those Megaupload links are still alive before I re-up @Rapidshare.

Yeeeeehaaaaaw!

By Gawd, you been busier than a fly in a cow pasture.

Isbum said...

@ quinlan - Goodnight, and good luck tomorrow.

@ ALL - We have 61 minuets of music for our "Love Scenes" compilation.
If you haven't submitted a piece of music yet, I'd suggest you do now.

For those of you that have already, I like to honor our absent friends nomwl1 and chimezatmidnight, so if you would like to offer something to add on their behalf, feel free to drop it in the "Love Scenes" comments with a note.

Dylan S said...

Isbum, lol, actually I'm just not in town at the moment and that's where the CD is, same goes for the superior "Tourist Trap" LP to CD transfer (luckily, I had the love theme from "Eye of the Needle" on my laptop for the compilation) ;) but I'll be back by Monday so I'll upload it soon enough, unless bistis6 wants to do it before. Meanwhile, I haven't heard the film version of the score, just the outstanding album recording by Rozsa for Varese.

And I had no clue the soundtrack for "Broadway Danny Rose" received a release of any kind. If anybody has that I would certainly be delighted as well.

Goonie said...

@bistis6 - Here is ICEMAN by Bruce Smeaton as you requested. My own cd rip@320. GREAT Main Title... enjoy!

I can upload TOY SOLDIERS for you.

Isbum said...

@ bistis6 - Is this similar to the Plot you sent recently?

Donovans Brain said...

Still hoping someone has the score to Paul Verhoeven's The 4th Man, composed by Loek Dikker. A stylish movie with an opening theme that grabbed me from the start.

bistis6 said...

@ isbum

If you mean separte tracks in WAV form, no. This file first has to be decompressed with Monkey's Audio (freeware or trial version) which will leave the tracks as one long uninterupted track. There is then a cue sheet which had to be loaded into Exact Audio Copy (also freeware or trial version). A CD can then be burned. It's kind of pain in the ass. Tell you what. Let me do it here and I'll re-up the whole thing.

Isbum said...

@ bistis6 - That would you be so kind!

@ donovans brain - I was hoping 7 Black Notes might have shown up with a new link. Normally, when we talk about him, he does. Before I drop him a request for it, are you certain it was from his site?

Ruggo said...

@bistis6

Can't seem to get the link to mega for Needle 7 Embrace to open and download. Have pleanty of programs to convert APE and breakout the tracks from the cue once I do.

bistis6 said...

@ ruggo

Sorry, I deleted it, figuring it was just to much trouble for people who might not have the programs. I'll have mp3 files up tomrrow.

Hep-Hep Steff said...

@ bistis6: i may could have wrong, but looks like you've got the HP i've already got. The only things who makes me curious are the sfx (there's none on the cd i've got) and the 14 tracks on the second cd (15 on mine)...
The HP1 i'm searching about got 34 + 24 tracks...

Hello, I am looking for some Euro Western soundtracks (rather German/Yugoslavian than Italian).

They were released twice, in a series entitled the Karl-May-Kollektion (5 discs) and as a CD box set called "Wilder Westen, heiBer Orient" (8 discs)

Does anyone have these CDs?

Ennioman,
Here’s yr. Morricone Western mini-fest (with much thanks to Benoit for most of the tracks in this post, and to Segroeg, H2o, & Alex3869italia for others).

OK. Western Trio is a great disc, with 14 of 19 tracks previously unreleased, but it has a couple of problems. The five previously released tracks have not been remastered; they’ve just used the old c. 1990 masters, which are significantly quieter. Where possible I’ve replaced these with the Japanese masters, which match, otherwise remastered myself. Secondly, the scores are not quite as complete as they could be, so I’ve included three or four more tracks that should’ve been on this disc. Also, rescued one or two *names* of tracks, from previous releases. Enjoy.

“Le pistole non discutono” (1964)
(Guns Don’t Argue)
http://rapidshare.com/files/96168167/EM64-LPND.rar.html

“La vita a volte è molto dura, vero, Provvidenza?” (1972)
(Life Is Tough, Eh, Providence?)
http://rapidshare.com/files/95081931/EM72-LVAVEMDVP.rar.html

“Ci risiamo, vero, Provvidenza” (1973)
(Here We Go Again, Eh, Providence?)
http://rapidshare.com/files/94828889/EM73-CRVP.rar.html

And a wee bonus: my version of Morricone’s first Western score. At 9 trax / 13 minutes, surely the most complete ever: ;)

“Duello nel Texas” (1963)
(Gunfight At Red Sands)
http://rs30.rapidshare.com/files/96415100/EM63-DNT.rar

.

I'm on the starting blocks to post the February link list with 389 new links and some goodies in them.
At your earliest convenience Sir.

Emails
Some hours ago, I did send for the fifth time that email answering your "Just a proposed idea" one.
Since I have no news from you, must I conclude that you did not receive it once again?
If this is the case, I must say that I don't understand and I don't know what to do.
I do receive your emails. Yesterday there were 4 test emails from you. I wrote a reply to one of them which you did receive.
This implies that the connexion between us works and that both of us have the write addresses.
The only difference with the reply to your test email and the email that I am trying so unsuccessfully to send you is that it contains a longer text.
But it's not the first time that I send you emails with a good length text and it always worked fine.
So here I am quite at a loss.
If someone reading this has an idea it will be welcome.
Cheers

@ ALL U.K. SCHIFRIN FANS!!!!!

Lalo Schifrin with the LSO
featuring soloists Alex Acuna, James Morrison and Pierre Boussaguet
10 April 2008 / 19:30
Barbican Hall

A very rare London appearance as pianist and conductor for the mighty Lalo Schifrin.
The Argentina born, composer conductor and arranger has had a glittering career via the Paris Conservatory, through his own big concert band in Buenos Aires, a crucial spell as Dizzy Gillespie¹s pianist and arranger and through the composition of more than 100 film scores including those for Bullitt, Dirty Harry and the theme to Mission Impossible perhaps the most instantly recognisable tune in the world.

Tonight¹s special programme entitled Jazz meets the Symphony puts Lalo and his band in front of a 89 piece symphony orchestra to explore symphonic variations on Latin Jazz and perform some of his finest compositions including The Fox, Enter the Dragon and The Dirty Harry Suite.

@ mr. remember - Had a good listen to your Witches bootleg, and overall I'm very impressed, many thanks for the time and effort involved here. Some further comments, made in good spirit...

(1) Your first post had track numbers, your second does not. I have numbered them according to the track listing you provided.

(2) Kudos for the later rip @256 bitrate. However, the first track is only @96 bitrate.

(3) As you yourself said, you left off the End Credits off the later rip. I borrowed it from the earlier rip, but it is only @128 bitrate.

(4) Couple of pops and clicks here and there.

Hope you don't mind some constructive criticism. I'm happy with what I have now, but a definitive version for all would be a welcome bonus. It's a great listen, and very much appreciated.

Reur post of "L'etreinte".
I remember seeing a film with this title ages ago (English title is "The Embrace". It was a Belgian film the subject of which being sadomasochism.
If it is this film the music composer was Roger Mores and the 2 co-directors were Paul Collet & Pierre Drouot.

Reur long post ending with 2 Josh Groban albums.
I understand it's two different albums, one called "Josh Groban" and the other "Josh Groban In Concert & Live at the Greek".
However you gave the same link for both of them which would indicate that one of them will be missing. Unless both albums are on the same link.
Thank you for your kind attention.

I have a request for anybody who might be in possession of the DVD of the Edith Piaf biopic "La Vie en Rose." The entire End Credits (5-6 minutes) is composer Christopher Gunning developing his main theme in its full glory, and it's an absolutely *GLORIOUS* cue but it's shockingly not among the Gunning pieces featured on the CD release. If anybody could rip that from the DVD, I would be enamored.

As long as someone's giving such non-by-rote Rota responses...

Does anyone here have...

1) Rota's War and Peace?

2) Rota's Waterloo?

3) Rota's Orchestra Rehearsal?

I spent my afternoon visiting with a brilliant 17 year old friend with Ewing's sarcoma.

I'm hoping he'll join us here -- what a funny, witty, gifted joy he is (which is the norm around blessedly abnormal here).

Hey -- if Scoredaddy's here and wants it...

I've got Hanson's Merry Mount.

@ chimez - I was working on the sign for your Classical Hall this morning just prior to your first post back.
THXjay had sent an email asking "who is Chimezatmidnight?"
THXjay actually thinks it's me because I reposted some of your remarks in the Hall.

He was also asking "who is Harry?" because I got a picture of Harry Nilsson in a bow tie that I want included on the sign.

Also gave him a shot of Orson Welles from the film "Campanadas a Medianoche".

Wait till you see the finished post. I am terribly grateful for all of the talented people who have become involved in this blog.

Scoredaddy has been away quite a bit lately (travel, lot's of travel) but he and filmpac are in for a surprise when they get back here.

In dedication to chimezatmidnight.
With your permission, I would like to tell the tale of the four candles.
Four candles were burning slowly.
The atmosphere was so quiet that their conversation was easily audible.
The first one said: "My name is Peace. Unfortunately no-one can succeed in keeping me alight. I guess I will soon go out".
Its flame declined rapidly and it went out completely.
The second one declared: "I am called Faith. From now on, it seems that I am far from being indispensable. It does not make sense for me to be kept alight any longer".
When it finished speaking, a small breeze blew and put it out.
Sadly, the third candle expressed itself in its turn: "They call me Love. I have no more strength to stay alight. People are ignoring me and do not understand why I am important. They don't even pay attention to the persons they are living with".
And without further ado, it went out.
Suddenly a child came in and saw the three candles out. "Why aren't you burning any more? You were supposed to keep alight forever".
And saying so, the child began crying.
Then, the fourth candle spoke: "Don't worry, as long as my flame is burning, we'll be able to light the other candles. I am Hope".
And with bright eyes, the child took the candle and lit the other ones.
As long as there is Hope, there will be Faith, Peace and Love.

Here is the music to accompany this little tale. Let's call it "The Four Candles Love Song".

http://rapidshare.com/files/97128774/The_Four_Candles_Love_Song.mp3

This is dedicated to our dear friend Chimezatmidnight, who was greatly missed.

Since it seems that we are in a Nino Rota mood, I remember posting a while ago at ydhtvtb an album by Nino Rota with musics from his main Fellini films: Lo Sceicco Blanco (The Wite Sheik), I Vitelloni, La Strada (The Road), Il Bidone (The Swindle), Le Notti Di Cabiria (Nights Of Cabiria), La Dolce Vita (The Sweet Life), Boccaccio '70, Federico Fellini's 8 1/2, Giuletta Degli Spiriti (Juliet Of The Spirits), Fellini Satyricon, I Clowns (The Clowns), Fellini's Roma, Amarcoed (I Remember).
The link is still valid here:

Composer Leonard Rosenman dies
Oscar winner helped modernize film music
By JON BURLINGAME
Leonard Rosenman, a two-time Oscar-winning composer who was credited with helping to modernize film music in the 1950s and '60s, died Tuesday of a heart attack at the Motion Picture & Television Country House and Hospital in Woodland Hills, Calif. He was 83.

Rosenman composed the scores for about four dozen films including the James Dean classics "East of Eden" and "Rebel Without a Cause," as well as such science-fiction films as "Fantastic Voyage" and "Beneath the Planet of the Apes" and period pieces including "A Man Called Horse."

He won back-to-back Oscars in 1975 and 1976 for adapting the classical music of "Barry Lyndon" and the Woody Guthrie songs of "Bound for Glory." He also received Oscar nominations for the original music of the mid-1980s films "Cross Creek" and "Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home" and a Golden Globe nomination for his music for the 1978 animated version of "The Lord of the Rings."

Rosenman emerged from the New York concert music scene in the early 1950s to bring a more contemporary approach to film music. He applied 20th-century compositional techniques -- including serialism, atonality and microtonality -- that were not then in common use among the more traditional Hollywood composers but are widely accepted today.

Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., he studied with composers Arnold Schoenberg, Roger Sessions and Luigi Dallapiccola and was writing chamber music and teaching piano when director Elia Kazan invited him to compose the score for "East of Eden" in 1954.

Rosenman, a frend of Dean's, was on the set during shooting and remained in California to score Dean's next film, "Rebel Without a Cause." His subsequent scores for "The Cobweb" and "The Savage Eye," among others, were notable for their complexity and dissonance.

The composer was also active in television, winning Emmys for his TV-movie scores for "Sybil" and "Friendly Fire" and scoring such prominent weekly series as "The Defenders," "Combat!" and "Marcus Welby, M.D." He wrote the music for about three dozen TV movies and miniseries including "Vanished," "Murder in Texas" and "Celebrity."

Throughout his Hollywood career, he continued to write music for the concert stage, including numerous chamber works, two violin concertos and a symphony.

Survivors include his wife, Judie Gregg Rosenman; three children and two grandchildren.

A memorial service is being planned; donations are suggested to the Motion Picture & Television Fund or to the Association for Frontotemporal Dementias (www.ftd-picks.org).

Isbum said...

@ Rocket from Mars - Thanks for that.
Our "Love Scenes" project will be dedicated to him. It will open with his love theme from "Rebel Without a Cause".
Contrary to the "myth", my friend Roger had a lunch with Mr. Rosenman and found him to be gracious and a gentle human being. Roger had been warned before meeting him that he was not to bring up James Dean in any manner. Roger told me that as they were finishing lunch, Rosenman opened up the subject and spoke freely of their friendship.

@ isbum - What is this Mannix re-recording of which you speak? If by French release, you mean the 16-track version listed on Soundtrack Collector, then I have @192 bitrate and am happy to post if nobody has a better bitrate. At least I *think* it's the French Warners release I have, the Aleph release seems the same except for a bonus remix track.

@ rocket - Bad news about Leonard Rosenman. Also in the news today, Patrick Swayze has (believed) pancreatic cancer. One report gave him about five weeks to live. He's 55, I thought him even younger.

Right you are isbum, and so right. I feel like humming "Where have all those flowers gone, one by every one..." all the time.

Like one of said before, I miss Bernstein, Kamen, Poledouris... The sad thing all the best ones, too. These days as you aptly suggested it's a mechanical thing, and sadly (my humble opinion) a lot of formula works, many of the works of newcomers resemble their contemporaries.

I'd say that we were truly blessed to have seen most of the good music "in the theaters" rather than on DVD's later on.

One huge misconception, propagated by studio heads* at the time, was that the best score was one you didn't notice.
Silly idea really. Would any of us be here passionately listening and sharing this music if we hadn't noticed it?

Dear, dear friends --

I've uploaded a cold and a contretemps with my hematologist as I got a rediagnosis which no one told me about and the one chemo whatever illness this thinks it is let push it around is now sitting on the curb like a fired studio exec.

I'd love to be uploading, I'm far from down and a good part of this is being here and receiving (not taking) all the loving kindness, those candles and just the presence I love to unwrap a few times daily of life here.

What I want to say is this. For all the changes and whatever unknown consequences decide to be the toy surprises of the moment...

I have resigned my longterm position with mere existence and have embraced --

Whatdoya call that thing -- ?

Ah, yes --

LIFE.

There have been a lot of people who contributed to that change of tides.

The ones who know me here are have their own hall inside not only my hard drive and iPod but inside me -- my soul in particular.

So I will be uploading here and in that hall with my name on it --

Which, for me, memorializes this positive sea change.

Also, it doesn't hurt to have a girlfriend who is a) a brilliant, warm, semi-pagan doctor, b) loves Russian and French poetry, sci-fi, opera and is giving the Criterion Collection a second home in her living room and d) looks exactly like Isabella Rossellini.

Isbum said...

@ chimezatmidnight - Check your closet's, David Lynch may be watching you. ;)

stubbins said...

isbum,

Of course, there's a story which (if any would like it) I could tell another time.

Here are the funny facts.

When I was three and my family was new to LA, wherever we went there was a lonely Ingrid Bergman, recently returned and still a social pariah.

One day I was reading picture books on a bookstore's floor... and a woman with a voice like honey and rosemary sits with me to read aloud.

It was, of course, I.B.

Many years later my daughter is three and she and I are at a birthday party on a roof in Soho. She is shy and holds my hand... until she kneels down to the gravel of the rooftop and I am pulled with her like a pouring pot of tea --

And come eye to eye with the next door neighbor of the celebrating family, Isabella Rossellini.

I tell her the story... she warms genuinely... and invites us, after an hour, to have dinner.

In her apartment there is a marvelous thing -- reconstructed from bones and skin and other things with thread and glue... a chicken.

Why?

It was from an early meal she had cooked for David Lynch: he had felt it to be so wonderful that he quietly collected the parts and made this unusual but beautiful keepsake.

I met him a few times. What a decent and quite conservative man. At that time he was truly upset in a private way over the film his daughter made, Boxing Helena.

It was not anger. It was a deeper sort of upset.

Oh, heck. I told the story anyway. (That means I'm feeling better!)
