With Jean embarking on Saturday night early, hopefully these won't get overlooked. Oldies but goldies, courtesy once again of Filmmusicman. The second is a nice jazzy score, not seen posted before...

Andre Previn "Goodbye, Charlie" (1964), LP @320:
http://rapidshare.com/files/166058919/AP-GoodbyeCharlie.zip
Jack Ackerman "Faces" (1968), LP @320:
http://rapidshare.com/files/166060741/JA-Faces.zip

And as a bonus, one for the Golden Age lovers. A super isolated DVD score rip, thanks go to the unknown ripper and cover artist. I dunno who, I just find these things...

Leigh Harline "The Girl In The Red Velvet Swing" (1955), isolated @320:

Here's a little something I put together for all you animation fans out there. Warner Bros. included some music-only and music-and-fx-tracks on the Golden Collection sets they released, highlighting their classic cartoons from the 30s, 40s, 50s and 60s. Here are rips of those tracks for your enjoyment. If you enjoyed the two Carl Stalling discs, you may find these appealing.

Bit rates vary, but keep in mind that these are archival quality tracks. My only hope is that you enjoy them as much as I do.

Franklynot should not be a problem with any ISP in Australia.
I have only had a problem this week with
http://beemp3.com/
still dead for me ?
and
http://www.tolontolon.es/
has just gone dead on me on Friday 22nd.
I don't know if anybody else has lost
http://www.tolontolon.es/

BitTorrent is the main target.

Oz ISP iiNet has just been hit with a lawsuit - 2 links below for info

http://apcmag.com/why_iinet_will_probably_lose_the_piracy_lawsuit.htm

I will nor recommend an ISP - It could all go bad for you @ my fault - your choice your fault.

Best of luck and i hope you like us.

New Settings About World of Soundtrack
Dear my blog readers,

As you know, it is impossible to continue sharing the links on blog anymore. Under this circumstances, making the blog private or changing the uploading server are not the solutions. Because my blog is watching by blogger. Whatever and whenever I published a post, they blocked or deleted the links.

From now on, I will continue to publish new albums on blog without any download links. All subscribers will be informed about the posts. However, for sharing links, I created a new and private mailing group.

All the current and deleted links of the posts on blog and new links will be published there. But, being a member of this group provided that payment. Otherwise, replacement of all archive is impossible. Because 99 % of my links have been deleted.

In this new format;
1. All deleted links will be reuploaded one by one.
2. Not only my own archive but also group members' archive will be shared too. So, requests will be more important and you will get your requests faster and easier if I don't have them.
3. Archive will be updated and published regularly as an excel file or as a web format.
4. Low bitrate albums will be replaced when quality ones are find.

To be a private member;
1. Donate 50$ on paypal donation button on the right side of the blog. You will pay this amount only once and for whole archive (current 4200 and upcoming albums)
(Use your email that you will use to log in the group.)

2. Send an empty e-mail to ; worldofsoundtrack-subscribe@yahoogroups.com
(Use the same e-mail address with your payment)

After the payment, your membership will be approved.

I know that, in this new format, there won't be much people. But it is not important for me. Just, I want to be sure that the people, whom I serve, deserve this effort.

Best,
PasliChaki

@Ruggo

you're not losing anything.

World of soundtrack goes private, but: in order to join, you have to make a not-so-small one-time-donation.(For me consequently, I'm out.)

There are no links at the blog anymore, just info.

He couldn't keep up, his links were gone within 24 hours, there was a lot of trouble.

That's for Info...

So, another round of blogs and forums have gone poof. I confess to having visited World Of Soundtrack more than once, so its kinda disappointing to see them gone. Hardly surprising though, it was almost inevitable. Perhaps if Franklynot also charged $50 a pop we could all retire in luxury ;)

@ all
At last the link summaries as of October 31 have been posted in the usual space.
I'd like to ask you to forgive me for not beeing as punctual as usual due to exceptional circumstances.
It's to be noted that October is a record month in terms of number of links. We achieved a total number of 527 links only for Filmscorium as opposed to 389 in September or 284 in August. The last month recording more links than the current one was September 2007 with 684 links. So it's nice to see that the crisis is not with us...
I'd like also to catch this opportunity to give you a reminder, in particular to the welcome and so productive newcomers.
If you appreciate what I'm doing you can be of a tremendous help to me in making sure that your links are clearly described with the album title and the artist(s) name(s), the way you would like them to be reported in the link lists I prepare.
In addition, if you use the hyper link technique, please report the complete link as the hyper link. Words like "here", or "click" oblige me to open the link to be able to copy and paste it. In this respect look at what filmpac is doing which is perfect for me.
Also, if you refer to a request, please repeat the album and artist name. If you just say, when answering the request, "here is what you wanted", it obliges me to go back to the request which sometimes was raised several days earlier, to identify the link.
So, you would oblige me by accepting to follow these little rules. It would save me a lot of time.
Thank you for your understanding and co-operation.

I've spent the last couple of years finding and downloading a few obscure soundtracks that I heard growing up.

One film eluded me. I couldn't remember it's name and I could never find anything online, no matter what search words related to the plot I used.

Tonight, I thought I'd give it another shot and it just popped up on IMDB.

It's called "Celia (1988)" and it has a terrific soundtrack by Chris Neal.

Does anyone have this or can anyone point me in a direction where I could get it?

@Prospero

Thank you for GRAND PRIX EXTENDED! I usually don't like extendeds, bootlegs, recording sessions, etc, but this cd is very good.
At the sixties, Jarre use to repeat ad infinitun the same melody at his works; there was always a valse and a march with different simple arrangements. At GRAND PRIX the repetition sounds wonderfully! Impossible not whistle the melody at the end of the audition. His new works are sophisticated melodies and he have always been one of my 4 favorites...

LALO SCHIFRIN (1932-)

Lalo Schifrin is a true Renaissance man. As a pianist, composer and conductor, he is equally at home conducting a symphony orchestra, performing at an international jazz festival, scoring a film or television show, or creating works for the Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra, the London Philharmonic and even The Sultan of Oman.

As a young man in his native Argentina, Lalo Schifrin received classical training in music. He also studied law. He came from a musical family, and his father, Luis Schifrin, was the concertmaster of the Philharmonic Orchestra of Buenos Aires at the Teatro Colon.

Lalo Schifrin continued his formal music education at the Paris Conservatory during the early 1950’s. Simultaneously, he became a professional jazz pianist, composer and arranger, playing and recording in Europe.

When Schifrin returned to Buenos Aires in the mid 1950’s, he formed his own big concert band. It was during a performance of this band that Dizzy Gillespie heard Schifrin play and asked him to become his pianist and arranger. In 1958, Schifrin moved to the United States and thus began a remarkable career.

His music is a synthesis of traditional and twentieth-century techniques, and his early love for jazz and rhythm are strong attributes of his style. In the classical composition field, Schifrin has more than 60 works.
He has written more than 100 scores for films and television. Among the classic scores are “Mission Impossible,” “Mannix,” “The Fox,” “Cool Hand Luke,” “Bullitt,” “Dirty Harry,” “The Cincinnati Kid,”and “Amityville Horror.” Recent film scores include “Tango,” “Rush Hour,” “Rush Hour 2,” “Bringing Down The House,”, “The Bridge of San Luis Rey,” “After the Sunset,” and “Abominable.”

To date, Lalo Schifrin has won four Grammy Awards (with twenty-one nominations), one Cable ACE Award, and received six Oscar nominations.

Today's UBI (Useless Bit of Information):
The identity of the first individual to drop slices of potato into boiling oil is unknown. The French claim it was one of their countrymen, while the Belgians fiercely hold that it was one of their own who first frenched a fry. Thomas Jefferson is reported to have served them at a White House dinner, but it took another 100 years for them to become a fast-food staple in the United States. It was American soldiers, having been stationed in France (or Belgium, depending on who you ask) during World War I who brought back a hunger for the fried potatoes they had eaten while overseas. Today, 1/3 of all potatoes sold end up as french fries.

Today's UBI #2:
The average McDonald's Big Mac bun has 198 sesame seeds on it.

Paskalya, dude, I can't tell whether to take you seriously or not. First, the reports of your death are greatly exaggerated, then without batting an eye you inform us that you eat McDonalds EVERY DAY! I am speechless.

A Happy Thanksgiving to all you posters. I have a few requests for some titles that have proved devillishly tricky to find.

So if anyone has any of the following, let me know or simply post them for all to enjoy.

Twelfth Night
-- OOP Shakespeare adaptation, music by Shaun Davey (review: http://www.filmtracks.com/titles/twelfth_night.html)

Swing Can Really Hang You Up The Most
--- by Alf Clausen, longtime Simpsons composer

Mach Go-Go Music Round 1 or 2
--- original Japanese underscore for Speed Racer. Only available as enormously overpriced imports from Japan

Final Solution
--- African-styled soundtrack now OOP by John Sponsler and Tom Gire (read a review at http://soundtrack-express.com/osts/finalsolution.htm)

The Lion The Witch And The Wardrobe
--- Royal Shakespeare Company (RSC) stage musical by Shaun Davey

And lastly a few unreleased that may be available as bootlegs... Wimbledon by Edward Shearmur, Back To Gaya by Michael Kamen (one of his last, incomplete scores before he died), and of course, Michael Kamen's rejected score to the first Tomb Raider film.

Companion piece for Isbum's share of "Winter Equinox", this one from a surfing flick...

Dennis Dragon "A Sea For Yourself" (1972), LP @160:
http://rapidshare.com/files/167796558/DD-SeaForYourself.zip

Blaxploitation.com had this to say:
"Thanks to Jonny Trunk for this tip, a superb and eclectic home-recorded soundtrack to a classic surf documentary from the early 1970s. This album is a double LP which (in the USA at least) you had to mail away to get hold of. Apparently there was a free single with some issues of the album, and there was also an Australian issue. The music is performed by a loose series of 'groups', most of which include the same lineup, all revolving around the Dragon brothers, Daryl and Dennis. There's a mix of funky rock, soul, great instrumentals, hippy psych... too much to describe! Very hard to find and very, very good. Pop quiz: Daryl later went on to become half of Captain And Tenille. Draw your own conclusions."

Today's UBI (Useless Bit of Information):
Benjamin Franklin, the great American statesman, thought the turkey was so American it should have been chosen as the national symbol rather than the eagle. A pity for the turkey, since few countries choose to eat their national symbol. More than 45 million turkeys are cooked and 525 million pounds of turkey are eaten during Thanksgiving. None of which will be eaten by Apache Indians, who considered the turkey timid and wouldn't eat it or use its feathers on their arrows. Which is doubly remarkable when you realize that the average mature turkey has some 3500 feathers.

Happy Thanksgiving to our American friends!

@ Everybody - I have you all to be thankful for this year!
Nearly every day I see some act of pure generosity here and it warms my soul.
Above the music given, the other amazement to me is the care and respect that is shared among all of you.
Thanks for proving to me daily that a small community of soundtrack fan's can thrive in a positive environment.
Oh yes, one other thing I have to be thankful for.
Thanks for saving me from being evicted in August of this year!
I wouldn't be here without you!

Happy Thanksgiving!

Thanks, Jersey Devil, for Twelfth Night. A low bit rate to be sure but good enough for my purpose -- listening to the album to see if the CD is worth the price it commands on the secondary market.

many thanks for the rare Tangerine Dream scores. The Soldier in particular is something I have been after for a while but I had lost my old VHS tape of that flick a few moves ago and its never been on DVD (at least not here in the uS). Ditto for Spasms (one of my favorite bad flicks ever; great TD "snake theme" over the end credits).

Thanks again and I hope everyone is having a happy & safe turkey day.

@ jadsterdad -
thanks for the rip of silent flute...here's a UBI (useless bit of info) on the Silent Flute...the movie was originally written by Bruce Lee, (before he made it big in hong kong) with good his good friends/students James Coburn & Stirling Silliphant. Sad thing is, even after Hollywood stole Bruce's other concept that was originally intended for himself (Kung-Fu), they even gave the role to the same guy responsible for taking his role as Caine. Can you imagine what Kung-Fu would've been like, had Bruce Lee played the role of Caine as originally intended?

Today's UBI: The Top 10 Most Frivolous Lawsuits:

1. 1991, Richard Overton sued Anheuser-Busch for $10,000. He claimed to have suffered emotional distress, mental injury, and financial loss because drinking beer did not make his fantasies of beautiful women in tropical settings come to life, as he claimed it had advertised, driving him to buy and drink more Bud Light. The case was dismissed.

2. 1995, Robert Lee Brock sued himself for $5 million. He claimed that he had violated his own civil rights and religious beliefs by allowing himself to get drunk and commit crimes which landed him in the Indian Creek Correctional Center in Virginia, serving a 23 year sentence for grand larceny and breaking and entering. What could he possibly have to gain by suing himself? Since being in prison prevented him from having an income, he expected the state to pay. This case was thrown out.

3. 1996, the family of Patsy Ann Byers sued Oliver Stone, Warner Brother, and others involved in the making and distribution of the movie Natural Born Killers for an unspecified amount. They claimed that the movie caused Sarah Edmondson and Benjamin Darrus to go on a crime spree which resulted in Edmonson shooting Byers during a robbery, leaving her paralyzed from the chest down. The lawsuit was originally filed in 1995, against Edmonson and Darrus, the actual perpetrators of the crime spree. Stone and the others involved with the film were added in 1996. The portion of the case aimed at Stone and his associates was dismissed in 2001.

4. 2000, Cleanthi Peters sued Universal Studios for $15,000. She claimed to have suffered extreme fear, mental anguish, and emotional distress due to visiting Universal Studios’ Halloween Horror Nights haunted house, which she said was too scary.

5. 2001, Linda Sanders and other family members of Columbine High School shooting victims sued 25 movie and video game companies for $5 billion, in a class action lawsuit. They claimed that were it not for movies includingThe Basketball Diaries and videos games including Doom, Duke Nukem, Quake, Mortal Kombat, Resident Evil, Mech Warrior, Wolfenstein, Redneck Rampage, Final Fantasy, and Nightmare Creatures, the massacre would not have occurred, and that the makers and distributors of the movies and games were partly to blame for their loved ones’ deaths. The case was thrown out and the plaintiffs were ordered to compensate the video game and movie companies for their legal fees.

6. 2002, Edward Brewer sued Providence Hospital for $2 million. He claimed that the hospital was negligent because it had not prevented him from raping one of its patients. The judge ruled that any damage Brewer suffered due to his crime was his responsibility for choosing to commit the crime, and that the hospital had no legal duty to protect him from that choice.

7. 2003, Andrew Burnett sued Sara McBurnett and the San Jose Mercury News, claiming they had caused him to suffer mental anguish and post traumatic stress disorder. Burnett filed the lawsuit while serving a three-year sentence for killing defendant McBurnett’s dog in a road rage incident, claiming that the incident had caused his suffering. The case was thrown out.

8. 2005, Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) sued Gertrude Walton, who had passed away the year before at the age of 83, after having received notice of her death and a copy of the death certificate. The RIAA claimed that Watson had illegally downloaded and shared over 700 songs. Watson’s daughter claims that she never even had a computer in the house. Although RIAA dropped the case against Watson, it was only one of over 20,000 similar lawsuits filed by the association beginning in 2003. While some of the lawsuits are legitimate cases of piracy, defendants have included a twelve-year-old girl whose parents wound up paying RIAA $2,000, and families who have never owned a computer. Defendants can face charges of $150,000 per song.

9. 2005, Austin Aitken sued NBC for $2.5 million. He claimed that an episode of “Fear Factor” caused him “suffering, injury, and great pain.” He said that watching the contestants eat rats on television made him dizzy and light-headed, causing him to vomit and run into a doorway. He judge said the case was frivolous and threw it out.

10. 2006, Allen Heckard sued Michael Jordan and Nike founder Phil Knight for $832 million. He claimed to suffer defamation, permanent injury, and emotional pain and suffering because people often mistook him for the basketball star. Heckard dropped the lawsuit later that year.

@ big rozsa - Found, your request of Francis Of Assisi. From a disc paired with Doctor Faustus, which I cannot find...

Mario Nascombene "Francis Of Assisi" (1961), @192:
http://rapidshare.com/files/168072096/MN-FrancisOfAssisi.zip

Today's UBI (Useless Bit of Information):
Francis Of Assisi was baptized as Giovanni by his mother, who had hopes of of him becoming a great religious leader, naming him after Saint John The Baptist. When his father returned from business in France, he was furious, not wanting his son to be a man of the church, and called him Francesco instead, in his enthusiasm for all things French. Mother still got her wish, with Francesco founding the "Order Of Friars Minor", more commonly known as Franciscan friars. Revered as the patron saint of animals, no Franciscans were harmed during the making of the movie. And in a wonderful case of life imitating art, there is the amazing parallel of the lovely Dolores Hart, who plays the noble woman Clare. In the movie, Clare forsook marriage to an earnest noble (Stuart Whitman) and followed Francis (Bradford Dillman), founding the Poor Clares order of nuns. In real life, Hart was on the verge of marriage in 1963, when she decided to become a nun."

@ jadstersdad - Top job on the Silent Flute, what a very great pity the music was never given a proper release.

@ tripmaster & prospero - LMAO, I see the UBI's have become quite a hit :))

filmpac said...

@ prospero - This is my all-time favorite frivolous lawsuit story...

A lawyer purchased a box of very rare and expensive cigars, then insured them against, among other things, fire. Within a month, having smoked his entire stockpile of these great cigars and without yet having made even his first premium payment on the policy, the lawyer filed a claim against the insurance company. In his claim, the lawyer stated the cigars were lost 'in a series of small fires.' The insurance company refused to pay, citing the obvious reason, that the man had consumed the cigars in the normal fashion. The lawyer sued... and WON! Delivering the ruling, the judge agreed with the insurance company that the claim was frivolous. The judge stated nevertheless, that the lawyer held a policy from the company, which it had warranted that the cigars were insurable and also guaranteed that it would insure them against fire, without defining what is considered to be unacceptable fire' and was obligated to pay the claim! Rather than endure lengthy and costly appeal process, the insurance company accepted the ruling and paid $15,000 to the lawyer for his loss of the cigars lost in the 'fires'. After the lawyer cashed the check, the insurance company had him arrested on 24 counts of ARSON! With his own insurance claim and testimony from the previous case being used against him, the lawyer was convicted of intentionally burning his insured property and was sentenced to 24 months in jail and a $24,000 fine.

PS. Widely considered to be a hoax, file it under "urban myth". A pity, because it is such a GREAT story, and in this lawsuit-happy age MIGHT have happened.

@ Dimich, Well I know you will not believe me, but the French soundtracks are the most difficult to have even for some of my friends French, because there are only few issued and they never reissued back. Why ? Exp: for the soundtrack La Boum 2 The price goes to $ 600.00 or Euro it's the same and on Tape . I see it right Now on Amazon.fr. Crazy NO.

And When you see that it's a very good reason to share. I will ask around me if it is possible to have this soundtrack " le Gitan" why Not. Sorry to not have this one in my collection if I got it you already receive them.

Dimich said...

@jean - Thanks for response. Of course I believe you :) Please don't take too much efforts to fill my request. By the way, I have some French soundtracks, including V.Cosma's (sadly, La Boum II is not among them). So if you want to have certain one, maybe I could help you.

That's one off my "to-get" list.

Did anybody buy the remastered scores for "Nine Hours to Rama" and "The Lion" by Malcolm Arnold?

I would like Lalo Schifrin's expanded score for "The Four Musketeers" too.

Is the new issue of "Is Paris Burning?" DRG Records 19117 remastered or enhanced at all?

Sorry, I have so many questions.
