hi, jean

dont forget about me: film music of nino rota, francis chagrin, shostakovich, from Chandos

Thanks for the another collection, I suggest marlon brando, gregory peck, bette davis, errol flynn, clark gable, gary cooper, anthony quinn, charles chaplin, vivian leight. There are great music about them

Jean said...

@ javier , No I don't forget , but I'm doing many things at the same times. Your suggestion are very good, But first it's to find the tracks, and for some Actors and Of course I love these actors, but the principle is to don’t have the same composer on the same disc, For Example, many of the Errol Flynn are composed by Max Steiner or Erich Wolfgang Korngold, by this way it's the same if you have the complete soundtrack.

Ask to ruggo it's not very simple , I must first print the biography and find the music who existing from the films or isolated tracks.

As I said it's just to not listening a complete soundtrack always, sometime I don't want them, Sometime I like to have an actor and remind me some of the best moment of the films he make or he play sorry my English is not very good at all.

But I keep your suggestion, they are all wonderful, and I love to have her picture on CD. :-)

@ all

Now that our transfer rate is up to snuff, I would like to request a re-post of "The Final Countdown". I don't remember who did it for me the last time, but I was never able to complete the download. Now, that should not be a problem. So, please please please whoever did that one, could you upload it again???

budarc said...

I'm looking for several rare soundtracks, and I don't know if this is the right place to request them, but here they are anyway:

Babe - Nigel Westlake
Big Top Pee-Wee - Danny Elfman
The Elephant Man - John Morris
The Great Muppet Caper - Joe Raposo
Matilda - David Newman
Pee-wee's Big Adventure - Danny Elfman (the complete score, not the 15 minute CD version)
Poseidon - Klaus Badelt
Savages - Stephen Trask
The Terminal - John Williams

I've looked for them everywhere, and I've tried to buy them, but no dice.

Also I just saw Step Brothers last night and the music by Jon Brion was great, but alas, no soundtrack. *sigh* Is there a rip or a promo available of that album anywhere?

Thanks LaraQ! That's one more than I expected to find. ;) A wealth of soundtracks at that blog.

The Curious Case Of Benjamin Button
Composed by Alexandre Desplat 2008

Changeling
Composed by Clint Eastwood 2008

plzzzzzzzzzzzzz

GrammFrance said...

Eastwood nominated for the Best Score of the year? Is it a joke?

Steve said...

@ lohit and GrammFrance

Eastwood's score to Changling is subtle, nuanced and melodic, and shows (not unsurprisingly) great feeling for the script. It's not showy or bombastic, but it is good film scoring. I too am surprised at this late blooming career, but taken on its own merits its well worthy of whatever gong this it's up for. As George Michael once said...listen withour predjudice!

Anonymous said...

I think Desplat should win. I haven't even seen 'The Curious Case Of Benjamin Button' yet, but I love the score. It's very elegant, like Desplat's other work.

John James was kind enough to inform me about a time (thank you again!!), when the blog 'the original just good tunes' was open for one week and one could get an invitation.
I took the invitation and participated a little (they share soundtracks too, but more than that)
Now the blog told me, I can tell franklynot's 'members' if they want an invitation, they can get one. So you just need to tell me if you want one and give me your emailadress, I'll send that to justgoodtunes and you'll get one..

:-)

I wanted to post that as soon as possible.
best wishes

I know, I know, and I'm appropriately ashamed let me assure you. I'll understand if you feel I haven't earned any franklynot previlages, please do feel free to ignor this request if you're uncomfortable vouching for me, no swet. So I'll leave this to you're discretion...

Does someone is having troubles today to upload files on rapidshare, with a free collectors account?
When i up a file, after a few minutes the time remaing clock turns to 99:99 minutes remaining, and then i lost my connection with the rapidshare site.
I have tested with others hosting sites, and they work fine. Only in rapidshare doesn't work.

Ruggo said...

Those of you who have been around this blog for a bit know my fondness for compilations. I have always tried to avoid the obvious when selecting representative tracks, whether from soundtracks or other sources.

When I set about to compile a Christmas album with the intention of having something unique to give friends and family a couple years ago, I found myself culling through hundreds of albums. Again, I hope I have steered clear of the obvious, and provided a distinctive collection for your holiday enjoyment.

Note: If some appear to be duplicates, it is because the arrangements were sufficiently different and too wonderful to eliminate.

Thanks a lot for your help, everyone! Still looking for:

Babe - Nigel Westlake
Big Top Pee-Wee - Danny Elfman
Pee-wee's Big Adventure - Danny Elfman (the complete score)
Savages - Stephen Trask
Step Brothers - Jon Brion
The Terminal - John Williams

And a new request (if I may be so bold). I've visited blog after blog and uncovered two links to the complete 27-track version of Edward Scissorhands. Unfortunately, both times the links were dead. If anyone can provide me with a working link, I would be ever so grateful. :) Thanks again!

You have been very helpful to me! :) I will try the Muppets blog again tomorrow, and as for Pee-wee, I have the Varese Sarabande CD release which is packaged with Back to School and contains maybe 18 minutes of the score. I know there is a score-only track on the Pee-wee's Big Adventure DVD, so I was hoping there was maybe a rip or something of the complete soundtrack. But thank you, nonetheless.

LaraQ said...

@budarc

Glad to be of help. Over the last month or so, I've been to a LOT of blogs and run across a lot of OSTs. Problem is remembering WHERE when it's stuff that I wasn't interesting in particularly at that time. It's nice to know I was able to find some of them.

budarc said...

@LaraQ

I greatly appreciate your time and memory in helping me find some of my personal favorite scores. :)

Holy God. I just went through the entire franklynot blog spreadsheet (from May 2007 to October 2008) at work today. I think I'm going to be sick. However, I wrote down about 85 different soundtracks that I'm going to follow up on. I'll be back in a couple of days complaining about all the broken links. :P

I can't wait to get home and download the shit out of them.

budarc said...

Oh yeah, I wanted to ask... Does anyone know where I can get some of Howard Goodall's music? In particular, incidental music from the Mr. Bean television series and the entire score for Mr. Bean's Holiday. No formal soundtracks have been issued for either works (what a surprise), but I know that some ingenious individual has found a way to rip some of the music by now (or found a courtesy promotional score floating around).

Mr. Bean's Holiday and Mr. Bean (TV), in addition to Jon Brion's Step Brothers score would be great finds. Thank you in advance, brave souls!

I was reading through the November archive (took me a good couple of hours - broken links, the Librarian, evil forward slashes, illnesses, and death! Wow, it was like a good novel), and I noticed that Synecdoche New York was posted as a "Saturday Night Special" (anyone care to explain?). Anyway, I don't request the entire album, only the last track: 19. Schenectady. The reason is I bought the MP3 album off of Amazon.com and they left off this track. When I informed them that it was available on the album but not in the electronic download, they curtly responded that it was an "album exclusive" (?). Which doesn't make any sense. And so, long story short, if anyone has the last track of Synecdoche New York, I would be pleased. Thanks.

budarc said...

Having now rifled through the entire archive of franklynot’s history (and lived to tell about it), I have a general idea of what’s been listed and what hasn’t. And so, I have compiled my ULTIMATE WISH LIST of soundtracks that have never been featured before on this site. If you guys can’t find them, then I don’t know where else to turn...

The Adventures of Brisco County Jr. - Randy Edelman
Big Top Pee-wee - Danny Elfman
Edward Scissorhands (complete, 27-track version) - Danny Elfman
Full Moon Main Title Madness - Richard Band
Leprechaun - Kevin Kiner
Mr. Bean (TV series, incidental music?) - Howard Goodall
Mr. Bean’s Holiday - Howard Goodall
No Way Out - Maurice Jarre
The Savages - Stephen Trask
Step Brothers - Jon Brion
Synecdoche, New York - Jon Brion (just the last track: "19. Schenectady")

I've compiled a bunch of links from franklynot's vast history (dated from May 2007 to December 2008) of soundtracks that I want, but I expect at least half of them to be dead. And so, I will update this list with all the re-ups I want, too!

I know... me, me, me, me, me. ;)

I promise I will share music if anyone requests a title I have. I have a collection of soundtracks locked away in a box under my bed. Not too many rare soundtracks (they were all store-bought legitimately), but possibly a couple out-of-print ones that no one can find anymore.

As always, thank you in advance for reading this post! :)

@ --mcc - Love the description on your SNS! Got a good laugh outta that! I need it bro, we're under the dreaded 3-day notice again.

@ LMG - I'm wondering why you are telling Quinlan to "Do not list" your posts? Your shares are quite out of print.

@ budarc - An auspicious debut new friend! Welcome!
Regarding SATURDAY NIGHT SPECIALS:

They are designed to add a bit of communal fun for everyone to share a some newer, In-Print scores for a 48-Hour period. The reason I ask you to add "Quinlan Do Not Post" is because these will be deleted from the blog on Monday evening following the weekend.

These will NOT be in the Monthly Spreadsheets. They are for the regular members here primarily.

I am aware that leechers can re-upload them at their blogs and take credit for them, but they will also be putting their blogs at risk of being terminated by Blogger.

We have always been about community and never about supplying the world at large new releases.
This is why I ask the community here to act responsibly and delete these links when the 48 hours is up.

I hope this is simple enough that everyone can understand how this works.

Feel free to voice any concerns to me privately via my email. I'm nothing, if not completely approachable and reasonable.

Heck, I'm just a regular music lover like you folks. :)

Do you still need that stationary earth thingy? Cause I found a source and am downloading now. Don't know what vbr VO means though as bit rate/source info.

Since it's on a forum I thought I should download/reup on SNS basis on my sendspace account.

Isbum said...

@ Andreas - Sorry if that came out bossy. I'm working on how to "keep my ducks in a row" without coming across like a jerk.

Call me isbum, your friendly guidance counselor. :)

Seems like "The Final Countdown" got lost in it's own time warp.
I'll upload it today for you Christine.

Isbum said...

@ Christine Cougar - Speaking of ducks in a row. I'll place "The Final Countdown" link in The Sci-Fi Planetarium.

MY LIST OF RE-UPS

Taken from the May 2007-October 2008 spreadsheet; links to these files do not exist anymore. Maybe if anyone around here still has them, they could kindly redirect me? :)

Let me just say that RapidShare sucks. They have the majority of deleted files (either "does not exist" or has been deleted because it "hasn’t been accessed in a long time.") Also, having to wait 15 minutes between downloads is criminal. And it’s "Still 50 seconds..."

On the other hand, MEGAUPLOAD has the biggest success rate for keeping old files up there. That place is like a rock.

Without further ado:

City Lights - Charles Chaplin
The Final Cut – Brian Tyler
Harry & The Hendersons - Bruce Broughton
Hocus Pocus - John Debney
Honey I Shrunk the Kids - James Horner
Jacob’s Ladder – Maurice Jarre
La Nouba - Cirque du Soleil
Liar Liar – John Debney
Lonely Guy - Jerry Goldsmith
Puppet Master I & II - Richard Band
Scrooged - Danny Elfman
Secret Window - Philip Glass, Geoff Zanelli
Shrunken Heads - Danny Elfman, Richard Band
Summer of ’42 – Michael LeGrand
Time After Time - Miklos Rozsa
Witness - Maurice Jarre

Thanks!

@ john james - Sorry friend, I think I was remiss when you offered up some Aussie music, and I never stuck my hand up. Would love to hear 'em, particularly "My Brilliant Career" and "Dad & Dave". At your leisure.

@ madman - Mr Bean? Woo-hoo, never thought this would surface :)

@ budarc - Not about to enter into that old chestnut of an argument about which file host to use. Except to say that an equal number of people will tell you Megaupload sucks, since it is banned in many countries. As for the 15 minute wait, you should have been around when it was a 90 minute wait, AND you had to jump through all kinds of hoops playing spot the kitty.

budarc said...

Yeah, I can't really complain (I've downloaded SO many files already), I was just commenting about my findings of downloading files from old links. Didn't mean to stir up any controversy. As long as the link works, I'm cool. ;)

For now, two of my favorite action scores of 2003.

"The Rundown" Cd @320
by Harry Gregson-Williams

http://rapidshare.com/files/172972434/HGW_TheRundown.zip

I had "The Rundown" before I had an ability to rip and save music. Hearing it again turned out to be a treat! I like it better than I did before!

Also

"The Italian Job" 2003 Cd @320
by John Powell

http://rapidshare.com/files/173224106/JP_TheItalianJob.zip

Oddly enough, I hear several nods to Quincy Jones in this score. Just funny that the Quincy score I hear is "The Hot Rock" and not the original "Italian Job".
Check "Planning the Heist".

But the link to the normal score (15 tracks)postet on the world of soundtrack blog is deleted.

But there is no difference between the 15 track and 23 track version. So you have all of the countdown.

Hello Everyone: I know this was talked about in these parts recently, but I am unsure if it was ever fullfilled. I, like many of you have downloaded "Santa Claus The Movie" by Henry Mancini about six times to find it's always the version with the same parts that skip. Several on the score and during Sheen Easton's song. So, does anyone have a link of the whole album without any skips. Sorry if this was fullfilled, I cannot not find out where, I'm usually very busy scanning for all of you in the artwork department so may have missed it. Merry Christmas. Thanks for any help.

Hi Folks,

This has been a lotta fun. 3 days without power, no heat, and all the stress that goes with it. We finally got it back Sunday, and trying to get up and running has been fun, what with furnace troubles, tossing out food, and all the rest. Hoping that Santa puts a generator on his sleigh for this house, (but knows that that won't happen this year).

Anyway, we all survived, just to let you know that we are all o.k. My best wishes to all of you, and hope that you and yours are well.

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

I noticed a startling lack of Philip Glass scores around :) So I got my cd-ripper and scanner a-working! :)

Here's the complete Reggio / Glass collaboration, all ripped and scanned by me in 320kbps with EAC/LAME (Logs included) and 300dpi.

Philip Glass - KoyaanisQatsi (Re-Recording 1998, released by Nonesuch in 2001):

Koyaanisqatsi Covers (Nonesuch 2001 Philip On Film Boxset)
PowaqQatsi Covers (Nonesuch 2001 Philip On Film Boxset)
NaqoyQatsi Covers
Anima Mundi Covers

The score for KoyaanisQatsi, especially, is a dream. I recommend you check out the accompanying movies as well. NaqoyQatsi also, is a trip to heaven, not in the least by wonderful Cello playing by mister Yo Yo Ma.

*******
Also, to get people in the Christmas spirit, here's John Williams' lovely but largely unknown score for Stepmom (320kbps EAC/Lame with logs). I never saw the movie, but I don't need to see it to know it stinks to high heaven. The music is a charm, however, and it has that subtle Christmas touch to it, as well as wonderful classical guitar by Christopher Parkening.

Here are my coverscans in 300dpi:

By any chance, do you have the soundtrack to Secret Window which features half the score by Philip Glass? There's a shiny nickel in it for you. ;)

I love listening to Glass during long car rides. It always seems to put me in a kind of trance - in the end, I don't remember the drive, I only remember the music. It's like, "How did I get here?" Minimalist music has that effect on me, I guess. Plus all of the alcohol... :P

I second the City Lights(1931) request: does anyone have a rip of the original mono score by Chaplin (does one exist?) as opposed to the readily available Carl Davis 1989 re-recording? I would love to get a copy of the original...

@ Budarc

Here's Philip Glass with Geoff Zanelli - Secret Window.

It's in 320kbps mp3, but it's not my rip. Also, it has no covers. If anyone can provide them you'd make me one happy puppy :)

Have fun with it, Budarc! I like it, it's dark and moody.

@ big rozsa - I think you missed my point. The Artwork Department also has a comments section, which is read by people who do not normally read THIS comments section. People who do artwork. Can ya dig it?

PS. Salome is (I believe) available from Buster's Big 10-Inch Record.

PPS. Curious, since your nick is Big Rozsa. Do you have ANYTHING by Rozsa? Or do we need to downgrade your nick somewhat? Think of this as a swap meet and you might meet with better success.

@Prospero

So this Mummy 3 is a rejected Debney Score?

Unknown said...

Soundtrackcollector says Debney did "additional music."

@ NOXTATIA

I cannot fullfill your wish for full Laurel & Hardy scores (as I don't have any) but you might like this album anyway.

This is "The World Of Silent Movies" -- it's a compilation cd of tunes from those good old silent films. (Soundtrackcollector)

It's performed by various folk, all on solo piano and it sounds very authentic. It does feature some golden oldies, including - as a sort of stipend I suppose - the well-known Laurel & Hardy theme.

Download The World Of Silent Movies here (320kbps, ripped with EAC/LAME by me)

Also, here are my coverscans for it - to please Filmpac and any other artwork lover - in 300dpi and complete. Also scanned by me.

Guess I should have clarified. Yes, indeedy, Debney did additional music for the latest Mummy film.

Such is the way of Hollywood these days, but I was surprised when Edelman was announced as composer.

I was less surprised when I found out Debney was brought in for additional / alternate music.

Remember when films didn't feel like assembly line productions?

budarc said...

I wasn't too surprised that Randy Edelman scored Mummy 3, as he usually teams up with director Rob Cohen on his films (Dragon: The Bruce Lee Story, Dragonheart, xXx, etc.). I'm guessing there were probably some reshoots, edits, or additional footage put into the film at last minute, and Edelman had committed to another project at the time, so they got the "filler guy" (John Debney) to do it. Crisis solved. ;)

budarc said...

No disrespect or anything to John Debney, whose work I love.

New page, new requests!

These are the last ones I’m actively searching for. They have eluded me constantly through thick and thin.

*Caveman’s Valentine – Terence Blanchard
*City Lights – Charles Chaplin (Carl Davis recording)
*Fight Club – The Dust Brothers (issued soundtrack, not the expanded score)
*The Final Cut – Brian Tyler
*Full Moon: Main Title Madness – Richard Band, et al
*Home Alone 2: Lost in New York – John Williams (issued soundtrack, not the expanded score)
*Liar, Liar – John Debney
*The Lonely Guy – Jerry Goldsmith (score and songs from the movie)
*Mr. Bean (TV series) – Howard Goodall (theme and incidental music from the series, no formal soundtrack has been issued)
*Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow – Edward Shearmur (issued soundtrack, not the expanded score)
*Step Brothers – Jon Brion (promotional score or DVD rip; no formal soundtrack has been issued)
*Waking Life – Glover Gill

I promise, as soon as these requests are filled, I will retire as rare soundtrack collector...

That is, until next week of course, when new soundtracks come out. ;)

Thanks for missing tracks! -- Best, LMG
