@ All - I noticed that the previous Rapidshare link automatically breaks in two parts.

I surmise they've figured out a way to show the entire link in this comments format.
Copy & paste puts it back together.

No more people saying "Hey! Where's the rest of the link??"

Sorry dear filmpac, I feel my comment. Of course I feel somewhat by Rózsa, a large admiration. He´s the best composer of film music. Is a genius. Working as a journalist and I like to write articles Rózsa and his music in diferents music´s magazines.
I am a lover of music and film especially Miklos Rózsa.
I want the job Rózsa be recognized as deserving.
Which can be adhered to wait patiently for my order as a nice Christmas present.

@ Filmpac: Thanks so much for "Norhtfork". It is very much appreciated. Yes, every cd cover I share is from my private collection and scanned and owned by me. I do not share found covers, because I am trying to make them the quality everyone here has taught me to do. I have never shared a music file because I do not have a rapid share account. I use a free collector's account for my cover scans though. If I knew how, I would happily private share it with you and then you can spread the wealth thereafter. Have a great night. Merry Christmas.

@ Bram... and any other kind uploader with sensitive ears, eyes and soul. My heart bleeds — well, figuratively speaking:

Quinlan is the person who, each month, painstaikenly updates our Excel Archive Spreadsheets (see isbum's Front Page).

He repeatedly has pleaded to all, and ... "in particular to the welcome and so productive newcomers.
If you appreciate what I'm doing you can be of a tremendous help to me, in making sure that your links are clearly described with the album title and the artist(s) name(s), the way you would like them to be reported in the link lists I prepare.
In addition, if you use the hyper link technique, please report the complete [download-]link as the hyper link. Words like "here", or "click" oblige me to open the link to be able to copy and paste it. In this respect look at what filmpac is doing which is perfect for me.
Also, if you refer to a request, please repeat the album and artist name. If you just say "here is what you wanted", when answering the request, it obliges me to go back to the request which sometimes was raised several days earlier, [in order] to identify the link.
So, you would oblige me by accepting to follow these little rules. It would save me a lot of time. ~ Thank you for your understanding and co-operation
. [~ Quinlan]”

And, elsewhere, isbum has once again shown his talent for concise expression by summarizing:
“Please post the [album-] titles & composers with all your links. It makes Quinlan's job of compiling the Monthly Excel Archive Spreadsheets so much easier.”

Now ready to copy/paste:
Various composers - The World of Silent Movies (2000)
http://rapidshare.com/files/174375635/_Compilation___2000__Various_Artists_-_The_World_Of_Silent_Movies.zip
___

@ Quinlan & isbum - I hope that you will forgive both my unsolicited aid and the re-editing of your texts. Could not help it after all. Perission granted to declare me insane :-(

@ isbum - I saw your post while previewing mine. Why did you have to mention Chimezatmidnight? He's always in my heart, and very often he springs up in my mind. I was unaware of the main page widget, but had spoken about Chimez to my sister on the phone, just 1½ hour ago! What were the chances of me being here again, and why? I'll tell you: I wanted to check for a possible response to my latest post at his very own Classical Music Hall. This is so... inexplicable!

nightflyer said...

Filmpac: That would be fine. But I am still confused about bitrates. I know the higher the bitrate the higher quality, but I am unsure how one changes the bitrate or would want to for that mattter. I just would like a small tutorial so that I am not making my bitrate less by accident. Do you understand this. I'm sure you do, I became a professional scanner thanks to everyones help. "Santa Claus The Movie" without the skips would be amazing. Heck, I'd be willing to purchase the original poster of the skippy version a new record needle. Ha! Ha!

Isbum said...

@ di(aphanous - My world has been filled with coincidence as of late.
I just said this to Filmpac yesterday regarding these events:

If Chimez were to come back again, I would be just as surprised as I was seeing that.

Lot's of odd coincidences happening lately. I bought a Don Ellis Cd on the 30th anniversary of his death.
(It's in Quinlan's Jazz shop)
I called out Breton and she'd just gotten back on line. Today I called out for Reza and he was reading Franklynot when I did it!

It's like I'm randomly tuning people in and they aren't all alive. Me weird, yes?

@ di(aphanous - My comment "they aren't all alive" meant Don Ellis, not Chimez. I will say this though, it's a heartache not knowing if a friend is alive or dead. I had hoped after Chimez saw the outpouring of emotion here over his first disappearance, that he could have entrusted someone to let us know if he had gone to a place so very lucky to have him.

I don't wish dampen anyone's holiday spirit with this.

As to your reminder of how to post links, I have nothing but appreciation for it. I'm certain Quinlan does too! :)

filmpac said...

@ nightflyer - The preferred bitrate is of course 320. In the program you use to rip music will be a setting where you can set the bitrate, just as you set the dpi in your scanning software. Also please make sure you select "mp3" as the format. Without knowing which program you use it is difficult to say exactly where that might be, but it is usually easy enough to find, just have a hunt around.

For your info, a 3-minute track ripped @320 will be approximately 10Mb. I see the first track is 3:11, so use this as a guide. If your rip results in a file of 10Mb approx in mp3 format, you win today's golden ripper award :)

PS. No rush at all, please take your time. I'm quite surprised you have not done this before, do you actually play your CDs?

nightflyer said...

@ Filmpac: Yes, I still play my Cd's. I have been busy putting all my lp's onto cleaned up cd's, which I thought was my top priority, that I have not then amassed a digital collection of my cd's. I usually use Windows Media Player to extract and put onto my computer. I just never messed with the bitrate. I will have to see where that is in that program. Now youv'e made me feel arcaic for still playing my cd's. If you don't shut up, I'll whip out the 8 track or reel to reel player. Ha! Ha!

Henry Mancini "Santa Claus: The Movie" (1985), LP @256:
http://rapidshare.com/files/175023276/HM-SantaClausMovie.zip

Now, a little background. Like you, I had a half a dozen copies of this, at various times. Normally I record where I get things from, but not this time. Which has me a little worried, did I save the non-skip version or not? Sounds ok to me, so let's hope this is the right one. I'm losing my marbles yes, but I have this feeling it came from a blog, a good blog... either The Inferno Crypt, The J Projex, The Manchester Morgue, or maybe even Poppa Tate's Soundtrack Shop. All places I used to visit regularly. Or maybe not, I honestly don't know for sure. So THANKS WHOEVER YOU ARE! Please advise if this is better than what you have, I'm dying to know myself. And let me add that the final track "Thank You Santa" has to be one of the most annoying songs EVER, did Mancini really write this??

Filmpac ducks the flying 8-track on his way out the door :)

@ filmpac - Reporting For Service ;-) —–-–— I simply quote your words 'n' music from that memorable post of December 1, 2007 1:54 PM — where you had said...

“I won't be doing too many overtly Christmassy postings, but this one is just too good to let slide. Comes in two flavours, with narration by Bernard Cribbins, and without. Look for it under the tree over in the corner...

Howard Blake "The Snowman" (1982), @256:
http://rapidshare.com/files/73642774/HB-TheSnowman.zip”

I found your link to be still valid/active/hot and... terribly soothing. Absolutely worth to re-expose it, delighting those newer old boys and girls who've joined recently.
:: Tracks 01-03 = Narrated version | Tracks 04-06 = Soundtrack only ('Walking In The Air' sung by Peter Auty, boy soprano) ::

The scanned booklet that I had promised to make a few day AND ONE YEAR ago, has now landed at the Artwork Department (blame it on my damn slow paper-kite delivery).

@ Filmpac: Thanks so much for this much, much better version of "Santa Claus The Movie". Excellent time for it. I will be anoying the whole family with that last song. Just like you said, it is very anoying. Not only is it hard to believe Mancini did it, but it's like they brought together every anoying kid you hate from your church, school, boy scouts, or girl scouts choir and told them to out sing each other. Because if you listen, they all sing very loud trying to outdo each other. Just think about that one "know it all" kid in your neighborhood you'd like to slap in the jaw, and that song is them times twenty. Ha! Ha! It's funny you have called me out on playing my cd's. I started collecting cd's before most people knew what they were. Back then, many soundtrack collector's got all over me telling me how I was ruining the sanctity of the Lp and the "pure sound" and I should be damned. I never went to another convention since then, and have really never had much contact with collectors until I found your site a few months back. But, everyone said the same thing about my watching widescreen laserdiscs too! I couldn't convince them the picture was 100% better than vhs, and you were getting the whole picture. I am sharing all of this not to make you or me feel bad, but to give everyone a laugh at my expense. So eveyone laugh away, and watch out because the 8 tracks and laserdiscs are a flying in this place. You can take an 8 track to the head, but a flying laserdisc, and it's to the hospital with you. I truly have come full circle, as I used to be ahead of the curve, and now I am way behind it. I just don't have the time to transfer 1,000's of cd's to my computer as of yet. By the way, I see someone has shared a link for "crimes Of Passion". Let me know if that is at 320 or not and I will still grant your request. Thanks again for all your hard work. Have a great day.

Jeff said...

Crimes of passion is coming from my CD.
So I guess it's 320 ?
On a MAC I don't see this bitrates.

Maimone Digital said...

@Jeff

Assuming you're using iTunes, just select the album, hit the Apple key (command) and "J" to select view options and put a check mark in "bit rate"

If you're using default settings, you're probably going to end up with AAC files at 120 bit rate. That's great for iPpds, but others who don't use a Mac will probably want MP3 so it can be used in most other players.

Just curious, outside of Stuffit, anyone know a Apple software to unpack rare files? Last time I looked, WinRar doesn't have a GUI for Mac, only a command line. I like things to be EASY.

It's rather unusual Mancini's score - more Italian by mood :) Sometimes reminds film music of Carlo Rustichelli or Armando Trovajoli.

I've sort of given up in trying to find some of the more rare scores on my "wanted" list (The Lonely Guy, Mr. Bean, Step Brothers, Liar Liar), except that I found this outdated link to something called "Jerry Goldsmith - The Rare Collection Vol. 1." I don't know if this has ever been posted on this site, but looking over the track listing, I do see the three composed tracks by Jerry Goldsmith for Lonely Guy.

Here: http://www.zona-musical.com/postt69285.html

Of course you know how disappointing it is to find something, after hours of searching, only to discover that the link is deader than a doornail. That sort of dropping feeling in your heart. Anyway, you guys know what to do: If you have the link, provide it! Thanks!

This indy drama about recovered memories comes with a moody, tense and at moments melodious score played by a small group of musicians. Closest in tone to Carter Burwell's "Fargo". A discovery for me!

"The Bed You Sleep In" 1993 Cd@320

Hey, it's Saturday night! Is it too late to request a score?

The 2-CD version of The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, which was apparently released on December 16.

I haven't seen the movie yet (obviously), but it's something I've been looking forward to all year; dark, haunting, moving, and a little bit weird. How can it NOT be great? Plus I've read the short story by F. Scott Fitzgerald and my mind is just fascinated to see how they adapt it into a film. I hear they hired the Forrest Gump screenwriter, which means it will have that Forrest Gump epic feel, except told in reverse.

I've seen the bootleg version available online (1 disc), so I'm looking for the full version released in stores. Hell, I'll probably end up buying the score myself, if the film (and the music) moves me much as I think it will.

GSW said...

@Ms Boricua - You have all of the ANNE tracks that there are (only 6). Side "B" of the LP has never been issued other than the LP. Plus side "B" is not Delerue's music but actual Tudor compositions performed by the New York Pro Musica. The only way to get these tracks is to rip them from the LP. I have the LP but cannot rip. I have requested time after time for side "B" but nobody has ever posted them.

When I said that I was missing ANNE tracks I simply meant that I had divided the MARY/ANNE cd tracks @320 by title so I could have 1 combined file and a seperate file for MARY and a seperate file for ANNE, all 3 files @320. I had uploaded all 3 files but somehow lost the ANNE @320 tracks. I had previously uploaded the ANNE tracks @192 before I had found a 320 upgrade, but I decided to just post the combined cd @320 instead of the single ANNE file @192.

Trust me, you have all of the ANNE tracks that are available.

I hope this clears up any confusion.

That does it. I've found all the released scores I've been looking for since I first visited this blog. I'm working on a "source" for music from Mr. Bean and Step Brothers (which have never been released), but that pretty much concludes the items on my hard-to-find wish list. I want to thank all of you for all of your dedicated hard work in helping me find these long-lost (and sometimes still-in-print) soundtracks I've been looking for. I couldn't have done it without all of you, or without this blog. I'm still going to hang around and check out what's new and upcoming, but I'll sort of gradually fade out into the background. Unless anyone asks for something I can contribute, of course.

All right, there it goes. Merry Christmas, folks, and a Happy New Year! I've got plenty of film scores to listen to... :D

Remastered for Cd.
Not a soundtrack, but I learned from the liner notes that the final track, "Nicole", was written for the bicycle girl Popeye Doyle beds in "The French Connection". I guess it didn't make it into the movie or onto the F@M Cd.

Anyway, it's a terrific album!

Many Thanks you are 2 precious gemms

I have only one wish but i don't think it is possible
I remember a cartoon in my chilhood it is called : the secret lives of Waldo Kitty (Waldo Kitty)

It concerns several stories of a cat which has to find his courage to save the lifes of his friends from a nasty dog.
He found his courage through his dreams (he became a super hero) and finally when he comes back to reality he find the way to save his friends

It will be great if someone have a soundtrack of this cartoon+film realised

Merry Christmas for the communauty

Several independent film scores.

The first one tries for a jazzy crime score sound.
Film description: A tragic comedy starring Mark Boone Junior (Batman Begins, Trees Lounge) and Bill Moseley (The Devil's Rejects), photographed in B&W Panavision by Hiro Narita, ASC (Never Cry Wolf), with music by Mike Patton (Peeping Tom, Faith No More, Mr. Bungle).

"A Perfect Place" 2008 Cd@320
by Mike Patton

NOTE: Skip the two tracks titled "Car Radio (AM & FM)" you'll thank me for it.

Also this one:

"Venice Dawn" Cd @320
by Adrian Younge

http://rapidshare.com/files/176010715/AdrianYounge_VeniceDawn.zip

Here's a description from MusicDish:

If you like the sounds of Air, Portishead, and Ennio Morricone, You will love the psychedelic and errie sounds of Adrian Younge's score for "Venice Dawn." The score was nominated "Best album since Virgin Suicides," by Kirk Waders of Music Machine.

I would like to have an invite to tv-soundtracks too. I didn't know they went invite only too. :(

I mean obviously they can do what they want, but I hate not telling us first, so we can like ask to be added and stuff. Like example justgoodtunes asked for like 3 weeks b4 going invite and that gave us a chance.

Johnny Williams music for the television show "Checkmate"
get's interpreted by Shelly Manne.

From a fan:
"Manne had a way of assembling just some of the hardest swinging musicians he could find. Conte Candoli on trumpet, Richie Kamuca on tenor saxophone, Russ Freeman on piano, and Chuck Berghofter on bass. This in my opinion was the best lineup Manne ever recorded with."

Hey Jean, I know I didn't request it but thanks for the beautiful 320 version of "Spellbound" I have been looking for a better copy for years now. I am hoping to assemble as complete as possible a Hitchcock film score/soundtrack collection eventually. Some films of his I do not know if there ever was an official release of the soundtrack, such as "Saboteur", "Notorious","shadow of a Doubt", "Rope", "Rear Window", "Stage Fright" etc. Anyone know?
