Does anyone here know if there was EVER a soundtrack release for the film "Hangar 18"....official or otherwise? If so, can someone tell me where to find it?
@filmpac & JM's Enterprise - Thank you guys. I have successfully re-formated my 40GB & 500GB externals. It was scary but I did it. Both were empty so there were no concerns about losing any files. Now I have to move my files off of the 1TB drive and reformat it. This is going to take a while. I read online that there is a way to reformat without moving files (if I read the instructions correctly) but it is my main drive where EVERYTHING is stored and I just do not want to take any chance of losing things so a transfer is in order. Next time I get a hard drive I am going to make sure to take care of this before I fill it up.
Lalo Schifrin – Rare track! It gives me a huge amount of pleasure to able to share this with you – I don’t think I’ve seen this posted anywhere, ever, though I may be wrong of course! This is my rip from Where angels Go, Trouble Follows (1968), the follow up to The Trouble with Angels. It’s a terrific song, composed by Schifrin and sung by Tommy Boyce and Bobby Hart. Don’t miss this, its Schifrin at his swingin’ 60’s best. Enjoy...
@JM's Enterprise I also thought that I would have to rip separate MP3 versions of my discs for iPod listening or that I would have to convert lossless into lossy for iPod listening. Not true!! I use Winamp to load and maintain my iPod music library. Winamp automatically transcodes my lossless files into MP3 when I drag them onto my iPod! Works great every time so this is no longer a concern for me.
@ALL - Our friend Dusty has taken the time and effort to convert the spread sheet into html. This makes the links clickable and eliviates the need to cut/paste in order to download.
Please show your gratitude by giving him a thank you.
Thanks, guys, for your work. I'm sure that this will be very useful for people. I assume you're planning to continue updating in the future. Let me know if you'd like to offload some of the work - ie some of the non-Filmscorium threads, or a page or two each month from the Filmscorium.
Another one of those subjects I could have gone on for five or six volumes, but kept it down to one. Just posted over at Ruggo And Jean's House Of Fine Compilations:
I FOUND PEACE AT THE MOVIES

I play FLACs with Windows Media Player (and lots of other audio software) without a problem. If I want it on my ipod I create a copy at 192.
WAVs are ENORMOUS compared to FLACs or SHNs. I've not heard anyone trading in APE formats for years.
Yes, highbitrate 320 MP3s mostly sound no different from an uncompressed format... ...but the point that FLAC users are trying to make is that if a file is uncompressed the music is protected and its audio integrity is maintained and preserved at the best quality it can be for prosperity. It's more about archival integrity than just personal use and personal preferences.
FLAC IS the same quality as CD (using EAC as was suggested). FLAC can also be created at a much higher quality than would fit on a standard CD (this is aimed more at those who deal with mastering music from master discs).
I have to admit that I was surprised that people here shared such rare recordings in mp3 - in the majority of other music trading circles mp3 is banned.
All that said, none of this is a complaint, I'm very happy and grateful just to hear these wonderful soundtracks and thankful and indebted to those that share them.
Ultimately, however, if my vote was ever called for I would always vote for uncompressed. Not because I'm a snob or anything like that, but because the music is better protected and preserved that way.
I'd like to thank each and everyone of you who gave addresses and everything regarding my trip to L.A. Didn't find everything I expected, but some interestinf stuff indeed. Amoeba records is a definite place to go for OSTs. You have to search for hours (don't expect the people working there to help you, unfortunately) but it's worth the wait. So, thanks again!
Request: In the art dept, I've noticed the covers for "Conversation Piece: An Unvarnished Chat with Bernard Herrmann." Does anyone around these parts have this?
Sorry about the alove deleted comment...finger twitch at the wrong moment...try again.
Dumb question I know but is there aay to automatically continue to recieve e-mail follow ups after the monthly change ! other than posting & checking the 'follow up e-mails to'....box.
APE files - In my short time here I haven't come across any, but my other passion - Classical Music, takes me to several sites where the Monkey *is* alive and well & shares its space with other formats, mps3's flac, EAC etc.
I checked My email this morning to find This incredible artwork You have done - My wife is a Graphic Designer, and she likes Your work!
Thanks a Million Bro!
On a side note, Last night I attended a Y & T concert in a small club here in Sweden. The group of course performed the song "Summertime Girls" and it was as good as, if not better, than the one on the record. I was fortunate enough to be front row center of the lead singer and guitarist Dave Meniketti.
Dave was kind enough to pose for a snap shot with Me on stage after the gig, and to top that off, during one of the songs, He put the mike in front of Me to sing a line from one of their songs. I don't think I would have been this fortunate had it been in a large arena type venue, as this was in a night club that seats 300 persons. This also marks the 35th anniversary of the group, although only 2 original members remain.
I got the guitar picks from both guitarist as well as signatures from the band and the sound recordist, who has been with the band since '85. He was operating the soundboard for the nights performance. This group is from California and it was nice to chat with them about back home in the states.
This was My second concert in Sweden, My first being The Police in 2007 at the Globen - Stockholm.
I have been learning how to play the electric guitar the past few months, just for fun of course. So far I have learned to play Pink Floyds' Money, Breathe and Hearts' Barracuda. I guess I will take a look at Youtube tomorrow for some Y & T Tab lessons.
Anyways, back to soundtracks, just wanted to share and Thanks Again for the Cover.
I hope you don't think I'm asking an impertinent question - I really want to know exactly how music is better protected and preserved by being archived in a lossless format.
@ Mel - I've seen a few of those Peter Nero records. Good of you to list them. I can slip a note in my wallet for when I go out rooting around in the Lp bins.
Following Joeytino's example... here is the link for Richard Kelly's commentary for SOUTHLAND TALES (only on Blu-Ray), for those who may not have jumped to Blu-Ray.
A few weeks ago a few of us commented on our laser disc collections and I mentoned the banned Cr1ter1on James Bond commentaries. A few were interested in what was so wrong that the production company had them pulled.
Here is the complete "From Russia..." commentary with director Terrance Young, writer Richard Maibaum (who died shortly after recording this) & editor Peter Hunt.
It's broken into Disc1 & Disc2. I've tried to make the side breaks as invisble as possible for those REALLY dedicated and try to sync up their DVD to this audio. The full soundtrack is there and comes up full when there is a lull in the commentary, but it's always there in the background.
I have not yet listend to the new commentary on the DVD's, so I do not know how much of this may be repetitive. If there is any interest, I will follow up with the remaining two, Doc No, & Goldfinger.
This could be an interesting thing to collect as one of the ways studios try and get us to double dip is to include commmentary, or even MORE underhanded, a NEW commentary to get us to buy ANOTHER copy. For those of us interested in this kind if a thing, like me.
(How many times have they Re-released T-2 or Army of Darkness? I've lost count.)
Ik have a request. I saw on Artwork departmant the covers for the music of Hugo Friedhofer: The adventures of Marco Polo/The lodger/The rains of Rancipur/Seven cities of gold.
Maybe I missed the link somewhere on the blog. Please could anyone put it back on. I was searching for this one.
Hello buddies...it's the first time i'm visiting the forum and i'm really excited and amazed...i'm posting a little something as a first contribution. One of Victor Young's masterpieces...and it's the original recording...Best regards to all of you.
Do you own a Blu-ray yourself? If so, would you be willing to post some the isolated scores that are popping up on the format, i.e. Young Frankenstein?
A Man Called Peter - Alfred Newman Broken Lance - Leigh Harline Above and Beyond - Hugo Friedhofer The Seventh Sin - Miklos Rozsa I'll Cry Tomorrow - Alex North Valley of the Kings / Men of the Fighting Lady - Miklos Rozsa

THE TWILIGHT ZONE-Music From the 1985 Television Series Original Music from "THE LIBRARY" , "VOICES IN THE EARTH, "A ROAD LESS TRAVELED" and "QUARANTINE" Original Music from The TV Series Music by Dennis McCarthy
I don't currently have a Blu-Ray player... though if they keep putting on exclusive content as a hook, that could change - but not anytime soon, I'm afraid. The ST was pulled from a BRrip (not my own).
...I have not had a chance to up the Rosenthal TV discs yet. Here is my first attempt at doing a lossless FLAC and I still wasn't able to compress these files much. It's in answer to a request but this is REALLY the last lossless one I'm doing so people just DO NOT ASK me for these again!
John Debney-White Fang 2 [composer promo] Rip from CD @ 1200+
@pagemaster65 - Thank you very much for posting the Richard Band.
@kidflash - I just finished updating the spread sheet (download it from the main Filmscorium page). Mysterious Island appears twice. Sept. 3 '08 is the Cl@ud 9 release posted by Clint's Archive and Dec. 27 '08 is the Tr!but@ release posted by myself. I believe The 7th Voyage of Sinbad 2 disc was only posted for a limited time and is not on the spread sheet. Hope this helps you sort things out.
@kidflash - I had forgotten that my Dec. post of Mysterious Island was @192. I have since been able to upgrade to 320 and here it is for you. This is the Stromberg recording. This is not my rip and thanks goes to the original uploader. http://www.megaupload.com/?d=N03HD8R8
El Cid[Tadlow] by M. Rozsa is here... and much more, hurry up and scour because anything that wasn't downloaded for 90 days will be gone I have been informed by Rapidshare.
Dear newcomers and oldtimers of the Franklyes mansion...
I just have been anounced by Rapidshare, that because I have exceeded a certain amount of space at Rapid, any links on my blog which have not been downloaded for 90ormore days WILL AUTOMATICALLY BE DELETED on OCTOBER 20, just a few days from now.
Currently I am trying to migrate to MEGAUPOLOAD, but there is only so much one man can do on his own alone.
PLEASE GO TO http://moonsmood.blogspot.comand download as much as you please especially starting with the oldest.
My purpose is not to escalate my R.S. points but rather to keep my links at least a nother week or two longer so that I can get to retain and migrate them, before theyt are gone for good.
There will be a lot of stuff with artwork included and 99.99% is @ 320 kbps!
Go and help me helping others like yourselves by keeping these links survive the period...
I am not overly familiar with library music, but I happened to run into a 7-Volume collection titled:
"RICHARD BAND SOUND COLLECTION"
Interestingly, the downloads resolve themselves into 7 ISO CD images. I converted one to a regular CD and discovered a number of files; the sound files were SDS, which is evidently incompatible with almost everything.
After futzing around, I figured out how to convert the SDS to WAV files and those, ultimately, to MP3.
The music is exciting and evidently a full studio orchestra. The volumes are described as follows:
Richard Band Vol.1 - Action A thrilling collection of big-screen action soundtracks with huge impact. With furious percussive passages to epic orchestral flourishes, each recording has the scene-stealing energy to charge up your next car chase or cliffhanging battle. Features large, live studio orchestra.
Richard Band Vol 2. - Horror Haunting, large-ensemble film scores guaranteed to instill terror. Features blood-curdling strings and eerie, otherworldly special effects. Geared for the big screen, these chilling, professional recordings will make your next horror film so good, it's scary. Features large, live studio orchestra.
Richard Band Vol. 3 - Dramatic Symphonic masterworks designed to take an emotional dramatic story to the next level. A range of scenes can be scored with this collection: romantic, poignant, adventurous, and more. Thematic, memorable scores full of vibrant strings, woodwinds and brass. Features large, live studio orchestra.
Richard Band Vol. 4 - Suspense Tense and chilling orchestral tracks custom fit for mystery and suspense. Manifest all shades of danger with brooding waves of dark strings and tight percussion. A sophisticated cinematic sound sure to give your audience goosebumps. Features large, live studio orchestra.
Richard band Vol. 5 - Comedy Fun, peppy, and cartoony tracks made for the most playful occasions. These cues hop, skip, flop, and jump with wacky abandon. Ideal for animation shorts or any comedic sequence. Features large, live studio orchestra.
Richard Band Vol. 6 - Family An engaging variety of musical moods for family-oriented presentations. From touching passages to funny, quirky moments, this collection can cover many cinematic situations geared for young and old alike. Features large, live studio orchestra.
Richard Band Vol.7 - Scoring Suites Live, big and beautiful, three orchestrated sets of themed, dramatic music cues for film scoring. Styles include Action, Film Noir and Heartland Americana, each with adaptations thematically related to create a cohesive score from beginning to end.
As this takes quite a bit of work, I want to know if there is an interest before I go through processing and uploading all 7 albums.
Here's CD-1 RICHARD BAND SOUND COLLECTION (Action) @320
@ Ruggo: I'd like to see the Band set for one. These discs were licensed to be used as stock library cues for productions such as cable access shows & the like. Most of the cues come from Band's filmscores but I for one am curious to know what he chose & if there are any hidden nuggets in there.
Tony Banks-The Wicked Lady (1983) Atlntc 7 80073-1 Rip from Cassette to CD to mp3
This is only side two of the original album, featuring the orchestral score (arranged by Chris Palmer & conducted by Stanley Black). This is an absolutely beautiful score and that's probably due more to Palmer than rocker Banks. Side one of the album featured Banks playing themes from the score on synth but those tracks are not in this file.
Quincy Jones-Walk, Don't Run [Plus 4 tracks from that Harry Betts TV themes album (whose title eludes me): Ellington-Asphalt Jungle/Mizzy-Shirley Temple Storybook/Morton-Bus Stop/Goldsmith-Cain's Hundred] Mnstrm MDCD 605 Rip from CD
Stu Phillips-Beyond the Valley of the Dolls Snd Trck Clsscs SCL 1408-2 Rip from CD
This film should really be called Beyond the Valley of Taste, but it's such wild trash that one just simply cannot discount its power as a big guilty pleasure. It's silly & soapy, but the girls are all babes, and it actually has a neat score by Phillips & equally neat 60s songs (by Lynn Carey & Strawberry Alarm Clock) as well.
The first Rosenthal disc doesn't quite match the list published at http://www.screenarchives.com/title_detail.cfm?ID=1160 but disc 2 seems okay. A few tracks are missing from disc 1. But I ain't complainin'. It's excellent music.
I'm not promising anything, but maybe I'll get around to creating a track rename .bat for the Rosenthal discs tomorrow.

@ all: I don't get what is happening with Disc One of this set. It had 28 tracks going into the upload so it should have 28 tracks when downloaded. I have ripped it for 3rd time! If you download it & it is still has less than 28 tracks, I'm not sure what more I can do about it...
Laurence Rosenthal-Music for Television W1ndmr 42346 Rip from CD
@ The Alchemist Hey friend--I think the latest Rosenthal downloads are both actually disc 2 - not sure though. In any case I am very grateful.
Here are two rename .bats for the Rosenthal TV tracks and a "folder.png" 300x300 image that is not pristine but at least better than I found on the web: http://rapidshare.com/files/292011507/roserenmebats.rar
@ J.D. It took a while, but here is WRONG TURN by ELIA CMIRAL in lossless quality - my rip and up, enjoy! http://rapidshare.com/files/291970317/Wrong_Turn_OST.part1.rar
I'm posting this up here because the composer has been active in scoring internationally released films such as: "Be Kind Rewind" "The Science Of Sleep"
"Cinema Francais" 2000 Cd @320 (The History of French Cinema, it's Songs and it's Music) By Jean-Michel Bernard Lyrics by Alain Goldstein
@ Trident: They can't both be Disc 2. My disc one has 28 tracks & My disc two has 25 tracks. But at some point I'll go play them directly to see if there is some pressing defect going on.....
@ Those friends here who trust their hearing, and/or are familiar with sound manipulation and (re-)processing.
• NINO ROTA - WAR AND PEACE -- in remastering stage! uploaded file: Nino.Rota_-_4.x.Prelude (in FLAC)
I really could use some help here, as to what version to pick up as the winner.
Have spent this past weekend remastering the Prelude, track #1 of the V@rese release. It was chosen because it has the full orchestral dynamics, a mixed-choir portion, and a couple of moments with solo [mainly wind] instruments.
I had three totally unsatisfactory versions in my HDD and, thanks to GSW's spreadsheet, today I've found and added a fourth one -- that of The Alchemist.
isbum's “él” (Aug 9, 2008) and gsw's V@rese (Jun 15, 2009) are absolutely identical, both in spectrum characteristics as well as in their Peak volume -0,2 dB, and RMS: -13,1. With difficulty they managed to reach the 'poverest' 8 to 9.000 Hz! [Mind you that in spite of their dangerously high peak, none of them had any "clipped" top; a sign of rather sensible normalization. And anyway, as I said, they're one and the same.
H2o's “undisclosed” version (Mar 4, 2008) is even worse, though it had stayed clear of peak heights [Peak: -2,2 dB | RMS: -15,0 dB]. Finally, The Alchemist's version is a close relative of the first two, with just a slightly less distortion during the fff (forte) passages, possibly due to not ever reaching a peak of -2,0 dB.
That is the, say, historical background. ...
Having reached a more-or-less solid basis, which I've named "STEP 3", I tried some more experimentation till I settled for a "STEP 4". Seven delicate touches further on I had reached the proverbial hard wall1 The alterations had become so subtle that I no longer could distinguish the differences. [Need I say that my Hi-Fi equipment is defect, and my A-brand headphones broke, so that all I could do was to work with 2nd-rate headphones?]
The uploaded archive contains the originally converted source (of mp3 @320), the aforementioned solid STEP 4, plus the final two "touches" -- important for the overall warmer (in expertise lingo is called "wetter") sound. I have temporarily normalised my audio files, so that they may sound as loud as the original mp3. Also included are four snapshots of the Spectrum analyser's graphs.
As I cannot decide, being fed-up by now with the process AND with the music(!), I turn to you and ask:
Please tell me if I'm wasting my time, and thus "the fruit of my labour" is just as crap as the original 320kb/s rip... or not -- as I hope. Listen to them as flac, convert them or burn them; use your PC, headphones or stereo equipment. But keep in mind that this comes from a single source, not from a 48-track tape.
If you DO think and hear an improvement, please let me know which version you favour. If the responses are positive but indecisive, then I shall settle for myself to remaster the rest of the tracks in accordance with the “safer” STEP 4 version.
Thanks to all who patiently managed to read through this line! No text file is included in the upload, promise. To those who might undertake the testing, I say “Have fun!”. I'll appreciate any feed-back.
a) I'm glad this time my post will be right down at the end of a page.
b) Do you know that you sound wiser and wiser, AND wiser by the years?
c) If I haven't mentioned your angelic properties at GSW's spreadsheet page, it's because I would then should go on, to name Southview212 and filmpac for instance and so-forth; but might inadvertently forget some good ones. Wouldn't want to hurt any feelings.
d) I am collecting my "Thank Yous", a portion of which is reserved for you. Well, now I've spoiled the surprise, a voice from beyond deepest space :-))
@ Isbum (cc The Alchemist) I owe Th'Alchy more than a drink. Out of the blue, unprompted, he posted Blomdahl's Aniara at the Planetarium which I had sought for a long, long time. It pretty much made my year...
If this were a high-school class and we had to pair up for science projects, I'd approach Th'Alchy to make that dry-ice volcano model.
Folks, I am overwhelmed at the amazing amount of quality music here. Please subscribe to my little blog. There are only rarities there. I will continue to upload obscure stuff, both film music and pop/rock.

Does anyone have a score of Ray Cook's music for REBEL? Can someone repost Herrmann's IT'S ALIVE 1/2 scores?
Awesome share, my friend! Over at Golden Age of Hollywood blogger Jean also shared El Cid but missing the videos, so your generous share has been the icing on the cake! (thanx to the original uploader, too!)
@isbum: I was wondering, fellow Q-fan, if you have Quincy Jones' "You've Got It Bad, Girl". As far as I know, it's the only one I'm missing of his from that late-, late-60s thru late-80s era.
Forgot to mention (for anyone interested) that besides Miklós Rózsa's glorious music @320K, and video of the recording sessions, the share also includes the complete booklet. In the meantime hope the link is kept active by Rapidshare long enough for you to migrate it.
For those who expressed an interest (and those who didn't) here are the first four volumes of the
RICHARD BAND SOUND COLLECTION.
volumes 5 & 6 should follow in a day or so, however volume 7 (The Scoring Suites has turning out to be a monumental 3+ gigs of material, which I will need to sift through to find the actual music (which seems like quite a bit a first viewing).

Here's me expressing interest in this Richard Band set!!!! ;) ;) ;)
Gracias, but I'm not sure how much play the comedy album is going to get 'round the Goblin household - those cues on his Up & Down promo are grating as hell. But these action/horror/etc cues might be great fun!
@ Ruggo - Thanks for the Band! Not sure if you have or are posting covers, but if not I found the following on the web. It has a watermark on it, but I'm sure someone here is more than talented enough to clean it up!
I'll try and scan the sleeves and if they come out decently - my scanner is too small to fit the album sized sleeve in one pass - I'll put them in the artwork department and post a message when it's done.
Yeah, I saw those covers and I thought they were so boring it wasn't worth screwing around with them, but if anyone wants to manipulate them, they can.
I feel your pain. The three "step 4s" definitely sounds slightly better to my ears - a slightly brighter finish - but I can't really tell the difference between those 3.
Since the source is so poor, I can't see that you could do much more.
There've been an amazing amount of great and diverse shares around here lately! I'm way behind in my formal thank yous, but in the interim, here are a few things off the shelf. Nothing new, but pretty good just the same. Enjoy!

This one's probably pretty old-hat for many here, but maybe some of the "newbies" don't have it yet. ;) "Close Encounters of the Third Kind: The Collector's Edition" by John Williams Årîsta - CD rip @320 - outside of funky folding case scanned, but not the booklet inside http://rapidshare.com/files/292306451/ce3k_ce_jw320.zip
@gsw: I do have to put out a special thanks to you for the updated spreadsheet. I can't even imagine how...mind...numbingly...tedious...that...must...have...been...to...do. Thank you very, very much. And while we're on the subject (you), you're TWS shares rocked.
@ Steven64 - One blog lead to another and I ended up grabbing a fistful of Q's.
These are all from:
http://myjazzworld.blogspot.com
"The Three Sounds" are Gene Harris on piano, Bill Dowdy on drums and Andy Simpkins on bass. This LP, which is a musical tribute to the "soul" of Broadway's then current best, was released in 1962 on Mercury Records, musical director was Quincy Jones.
@ di(aphanous: Ever since someone said they had doubts my rips were at a precise 320, I haven't listed them as such. I'm using Windows Media Player to rip & the bitrate is set at 320 but either the CD drive or the ripping program seems to undercut what I'm trying to do. If it wasn't so durn time consuming, I'd just do everything in lossless. Meanwhile, I think it's great that you are trying to fix War and Peace. The score has always sounded like it was recorded at the bottom of a deep hole.
@ Trident: This cranky ole basterd appreciates anyone who is fooled into thinking he can make the dry ice volcano work ;-)
Bernard Herrmann-North By Northwest (either studio tape or DVD iso rip w/both the film & longer alternate versions of Mt. Rushmore & two cover versions of the love theme)
Rapidshare is threatening to dump any of my links that haven't been downloaded in 90 days. Many of these in this post haven't been downloaded since August. Also, they were pulled from a box, ripped, and put back into a box so it would be hard for me to re-up them if they expire, so think of this as a possible last chance to acquire these.
@ J.D. thanx for the info on FEAR ITSELF - i look forward to see it at TWS
@ Ruggo seems to be great RICHARD BAND collection! Your efforts are really appreciated! Will start to download it today! Who ever is interested in his work - and is able to read German :-) - is invited to have a look at my Cine-Soundz Blog. I published an interview with this great composer, I did back in the mid 90's ...
@ di(aphanous: It's going to take several hours to upload all the files over the course of the day, but I decided to provide the V@re$e War and Peace to you in lossless at a supposed bitrate of 1400 (raw, no FLAC) to aid in whatever it is you are trying to do. Here are the first 3 cues:
Hell Everyone: Thanks for all the great shares and work lately. This place truly is my second home. I'm trying to fill in gaps in my collection. So, I am looking for "Jason X" by Harry Manfredini and "Rapid Fire" by Christopher Young. Thanks in advance for any help. Have a great week.
@isbum: Sweet! Glad I could help out. ;) I found a couple of other goodies where Quincy's "You've Got It..." was lurking. I still haven't quite mastered the art of 'blog searching' yet, so the tips you (and others) pass on here is great. Serendipitous Coincidence #9: I downloaded "You've Got It...", immediately listened to it, jammed on Dizzy Gillespie's "Manteca" twice and then went to eat and watch TV. What happens to be on? A documentary on PBS (of all places) about Latin Jazz in America. And who just happens to be on? Dizzy talking about..."Manteca". They even had a clip of his band performing it. Strange but welcome synchronicity, man. Brrr... lol!
(Sorry for the off-topic rave. We now return you to your regularly scheduled blog, already in progress.)
@nightflyer: I posted this a couple of months ago so here's a re-up: "Rapid Fire" by Christopher Young - my CD rip @320 http://rapidshare.com/files/286231595/rapidfire_cy_320.zip Artwork http://rapidshare.com/files/286312275/rapid_fire_scans.zip Enjoy!
@Rebecca: I have a "Phenomenon" promo with much of Newman's score (including the track on the commercial release). I'll post it shortly. ;)
@Rebecca: Well that was a lot faster than I thought! (Rapidshare must be in a good mood today.)
"Phenomenon [Promo Score]" by Thomas Newman This isn't my rip so thanks got to the original uploader. I forgot to check the bitrate, but I think it's 192. There's some art in there, too. Enjoy! http://rapidshare.com/files/292544189/phenomenon__promo_newman.zip
Here are volumes 5 & 6 of the RICHARD BAND SOUND COLLECTION.
No immediate promises regarding volume 7. That set unpacks at over 7 gigs of material, and it will take some time to determine if some of it is a repeat of previous stuff, or all new.
RICHARD BAND SOUND COLLECTION (@320)
Richard band Vol. 5 - Comedy Fun, peppy, and cartoony tracks made for the most playful occasions. These cues hop, skip, flop, and jump with wacky abandon. Ideal for animation shorts or any comedic sequence. Features large, live studio orchestra.
Richard Band Vol. 6 - Family An engaging variety of musical moods for family-oriented presentations. From touching passages to funny, quirky moments, this collection can cover many cinematic situations geared for young and old alike. Features large, live studio orchestra.
I tweaked the Richard Band image a bit. But in removing the watermark I also removed the volume info as well. There are four image files here, one the original, one blown up and cleaned up, one 300x300 that I'm going to use as my "folder" image, and lastly the record company's logo. If someone wants to adapt the large image for individual volumes that would be cool, but I don't think it's worth the effort.
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=LJ1SS73V
While I'm tossing images out there, here's a 300x300 "Brain in a Box" image that beats what I've found on the web. Would'a posted it at the Planetarium, but I'm not going to be poster #666:
A few day ago Dutch TV broadcasted Spiderman 3. Kirsten Dunst performed two songs 'I'm through with love' and 'Falling in love is wonderful' Lip-synched or not, I don't know and it don't matter to me. But it sounds nice and is there anybody who has the recordings and is willing to share. I don't know if they are ever recorded
@ Steven64 and Stereoelf: Thank you both for such fast responses. Elf; There sure is numerous Friday the 13th items to chose from on that site. It's like a Jason Vorhees buffet. or slaughter in his case. 64; Thanks for the link. I was certain I had downloaded it before and did try looking back. So thanks for making it much easier for me. You both have a great week. Take care.
@ stereoelf: Thank you. I'm interested in any David Newman from Coneheads too.
I overlooked your v/s request for Lee Holdridge. Is the album you requested 8 tracks on lp and 13 on CD? Beastmaster, JL Seagull, Going home, etc? Got that one if you want.
Things have gotten more interesting. Evidently this is a product of Sm@rt S0und Music. Each Volume retails for $99.95. With discount everything comes up to $560.
Volume 7 is a treasure trove comprising of 10 additional collections (gigabytes-worth of material). One of those collections is evidently a sampler of the other 9.
For now, I have processed and converted this sampler volume which includes the following unnumbered tracks: --Cinematic Action 1 --Cinematic Action 2 --Cinematic Action 3 --Film Noir 1 --Film Noir 2 --Film Noir 3 --Heartland Americana 1 --Heartland Americana 2 --Heartland Americana 3 --Heartland Americana 4
I'm putting together a personal Halloween-themed project compiling a CD of versions of Krystof Komeda's lovely theme for "Rosemary's Baby." So far I have the main titles from the film and the score cues that include the theme, a pop single featuring Mia Farrow, an Enoch Light Orchestra version from an LP, Claudine Longet's magnificent "Sleep Safe and Warm," a great toy piano variation from the band Twink and a nice lounge version by Harvey Averne. Any other suggestions would be incredibly helpful. I will share the end result with everybody here when it's finished. Thanks in advance!
@ Dylan http://www.megaupload.com/?d=E1Y82XEM It's Hugo Montenegro's Rosemary's Baby. I stripped the .mp3 extension off the name so you'll have to reattach it
@ Trident & stereoelf - thanks so much for the Wood and Line! I'm repeatedly blown away by the generosity of everyone here...
@ Trident again - I agree with Ruggo the Band cover's not the greatest, but I shudder at the thought of a "naked" album on my iPod. Thanks for the great cleanup work!
@ Dylan - Here's the theme by Mike Patton's band, Fantomas. It's more than a little bit wilder than Enoch or Hugo's versions, but in the interest of completeness...
IT´A WONDERFUL LIFE (1946) - DIMITRI TIOMKIN BUDMOVIES (BUD4005)
Tracklisting:
1. Overture 2. A prayer for Bedford Falls 3. Big brother saves life 4. Father and son 5. The good old building and loan 6. George gives up college 7. George and Mary meet again 8. George and Mary get hitched 9. A run an the bank 10. Potter's job offer 11. World War II 12. A hero's homecoming 13. Uncle Billy's crisis 14. The plea to Potter 15. Clarence's leap of faith 16. George Bailey doesn't exist 17. Answered prayers 18. The richest man in the world 19. Buffalo gals
@Trident It's the 13 Track CD Catno. VCD47244 - first track Wizards and Warriors and tracks 8-13 East of Eden. Apologies for not making that clearer. Be great if you have it.
Does anyone have (or remember) the password for the J@HN W!LL!AM$--THE F@LK YEARS (1969-73) link? (Was it a SNS? I don't remember)Won't open without it. Thanks.
Our continuing adventures with the RICHARD BAND SOUND COLLECTION takes us into the depths of volume 7 (Scoring Suites), which is comprised of 10 seperate collections. I posted one yesterday and here are three more today, indicated by the titles
@All: I have a repeat question -- someone posted John Powell's promo score for "Bolt" a while back and either didn't supply the password, or I just missed it. Does anybody have it? (abby's request reminded me of this anew.) Thanks!
@stereoelf: Thanks for the tip. Count Zero beat you to the punch by about 9 minutes, but thanks just the same. Count gave me a different password, but it worked and the file is, indeed, the one you listed above. Thanks again!
I'd also welcome a place to share these tracks. Great idea. I like listening to the directors comments especially veterans like John Frankenheimer John Carpneter or David Cronenberg. I pop them on my ipod and if its a movie I've seen a few times I'll listen without even watching the movie.
Thank you so much for the additional "Theme from Rosemary's Baby" versions!
So far, here is what I have:
From the OST:
Main Title (with Paramount logo) Main Title (extended with no Paramoung logo) "Decorating the Apartment" and "Finale" from the OST (and any other cues that feature variations)
And by other artists:
Claudine Longet (with dreamy lyrics & vocal, full orchestra and chorus) Twink (toy piano and organ) Hugo Montenegro (full orchestra and voices) The Enoch Light Orchestra Fantomas (hard rock) Harvey Averne (seventies lounge) Mia Farrow ("single LP version" - very neat, orchestral lounge)
It's looking good! Any other help with more versions will be much appreciated!
I'm with you on the commentaries. Maybe Isbum can set up a spot for the commentaries to keep from clogging the filmscorium. I'm surprised how many commentaries are recorded but later omitted from the DVD for one reason or another. South Park season one comes to mind, although I've heard newer pressings included it. Aronfsky had the commentary for The Fountain on his website, and I've heard rumors that there are commentaries for Buck Rogers in the 25th Century the complete series, but Universal did not want to include them on the DVD.
After Bond I was thinking of posting Jack Lemmon's commentary from Glengarry Glen Ross as it was not on the DVD released after he died. I'll make a list of what I have and gauge the interest.
One thing about this group is it got me back into my Laserdiscs, something I have not done since my boys were born, as some of them have isolated music tracks and I was looking for things to post. This a great group and I am glad I stumbled upon it.
@isbum: I'm with Goldiemusic and joeytino, et al re: a shop for commentaries. And there's no way in hell I'm volunteering to help run it!! (lol) Honestly, I would have little to offer anyway, but I'd enjoy seeing/listening to more of them. (Plus - it sounds like a pretty unique idea, as in no one else seems to have done it. Yet.) My two cents'...
@Trident - You said "any" David Newman? I have the scores to the 2 Bill and Ted flicks if you want them, and I'll throw in his Sundance Film Music Fanfare. :O)
@ Roryseber Did I write "any David Newman"? Didn't mean to but I'm glad I did. I have B&T's 2 but lack B&T's 1, but I'm sure a lot of folks would like both.

@Jon: I haven't downloaded the "King Kong" tracks but I was thinking, "Wait a minute...Howard Shore's score wasn't rejected!" Thanks for the clarification.
@indigoblue: However, I thank you for "Panic Room" which I did download and have already listened to. I'm ssssllooowly becoming a Howard Shore fan and your share is a welcome addition.
@Roryseber: Thanks so the "Bill & Ted" tracks. Nice material (and great sound quality).

Perhaps we can send another cake... one with dancing girls inside!
I second the plan for putting out of print commentaries on their own seperate page.
I'm especially interested in those out of print criterions LDs.
@joeytino Thanks for those Bond Comms. been looking for a copy of those for years. But.. I downloaded Dr.No and it appears to be the isolated music and effects track and not the directors comm. Is this what you meant to do?
@gsw re your offer at the last SNS about the FZM scores, been searching for Eye of the Devil Gary McFarland and Goodbye, Mr. Chips John Williams. If it's possible to upload these during any future SNS, would be much appreciated.

I suppose this is probably pushing it, but does anyone have the Mysterious Island rerecording and the double-disc release of Seventh Voyage of Sinbad?
Or better yet, who posted them earlier, so that I can differentiate between the various uploads on the spreadsheet?
Apologies, and thanks in advance.
@JM's Enterprise,
I understand exactly what you mean!
Have by myself an ipod.
Hi Everybody:
I wonder if anyone is willing to upload/share the recent Tadlow re-recording of Miklós Rozsa's El Cid @320K?
Thanx!
@JM's Enterprise:
Because wav is much bigger than ape or flac. And Windows Media Player sucks...
btw. i also prefer lossless flac rips :) (if they're are correctly encoded with EAC and CUE).
@ all
Does anyone here know if there was EVER a soundtrack release for the film "Hangar 18"....official or otherwise? If so, can someone tell me where to find it?
@Mel
my only other Nero is
Peter Nero Plays "Love is Blue" and Ten Other Great Songs, RCA, 1968
i'll upload ASAP
Enjoy...

@JM's Enterprise
I also thought that I would have to rip separate MP3 versions of my discs for iPod listening or that I would have to convert lossless into lossy for iPod listening.
@ GSW & Dusty,
Thanks, guys, for your work. I'm sure that this will be very useful for people. I assume you're planning to continue updating in the future. Let me know if you'd like to offload some of the work - ie some of the non-Filmscorium threads, or a page or two each month from the Filmscorium.
@ gsw and Dusty,
You fellas are most thoughtful. I, for one, really appreciate what you are doing and I thank you for your care, time and trouble.
Not a Merchant-Ivory film, but might as well be... Great music in this Meryl Streep movie about five sisters in Ireland in the 1930s.

"Mr. Cranky" has a very funny and irreverent review here:
http://www.mrcranky.com/movies/dancingatlughnasa.html
Much of Bill Whelan's career has been in "Riverdance" projects. It's ironic that "Dancing at Lughnasa" has nothing to do with dancing...

Absolutely a MOST sincere thank you Dusty and gsw for the spreadsheet. I can't tell you how many times I've already consulted it!
@ all :
I'd like to thank each and everyone of you who gave addresses and everything regarding my trip to L.A. Didn't find everything I expected, but some interestinf stuff indeed. Amoeba records is a definite place to go for OSTs. You have to search for hours (don't expect the people working there to help you, unfortunately) but it's worth the wait. So, thanks again!

Cheers \ ( ^ • ^ ) /

I hope you don't think I'm asking an impertinent question - I really want to know exactly how music is better protected and preserved by being archived in a lossless format.
@ Mel - I've seen a few of those Peter Nero records. Good of you to list them. I can slip a note in my wallet for when I go out rooting around in the Lp bins.

Something different today.
Enjoy this experiment

I'm new to blogging. I've started a modest one here, with a number of obscure items:

IS IT WORTH THE WORK?
I am not overly familiar with library music, but I happened to run into a 7-Volume collection titled:
"RICHARD BAND SOUND COLLECTION"
Interestingly, the downloads resolve themselves into 7 ISO CD images. I converted one to a regular CD and discovered a number of files; the sound files were SDS, which is evidently incompatible with almost everything.
After futzing around, I figured out how to convert the SDS to WAV files and those, ultimately, to MP3.
The music is exciting and evidently a full studio orchestra. The volumes are described as follows:
Richard Band Vol.1 - Action
A thrilling collection of big-screen action soundtracks with huge impact. With furious percussive passages to epic orchestral flourishes, each recording has the scene-stealing energy to charge up your next car chase or cliffhanging battle. Features large, live studio orchestra.
Richard Band Vol 2. - Horror
Haunting, large-ensemble film scores guaranteed to instill terror. Features blood-curdling strings and eerie, otherworldly special effects. Geared for the big screen, these chilling, professional recordings will make your next horror film so good, it's scary. Features large, live studio orchestra.
Richard Band Vol. 3 - Dramatic
Symphonic masterworks designed to take an emotional dramatic story to the next level. A range of scenes can be scored with this collection: romantic, poignant, adventurous, and more. Thematic, memorable scores full of vibrant strings, woodwinds and brass. Features large, live studio orchestra.
Richard Band Vol. 4 - Suspense
Tense and chilling orchestral tracks custom fit for mystery and suspense. Manifest all shades of danger with brooding waves of dark strings and tight percussion. A sophisticated cinematic sound sure to give your audience goosebumps. Features large, live studio orchestra.
Richard band Vol. 5 - Comedy
Fun, peppy, and cartoony tracks made for the most playful occasions. These cues hop, skip, flop, and jump with wacky abandon. Ideal for animation shorts or any comedic sequence. Features large, live studio orchestra.
Richard Band Vol. 6 - Family
An engaging variety of musical moods for family-oriented presentations. From touching passages to funny, quirky moments, this collection can cover many cinematic situations geared for young and old alike. Features large, live studio orchestra.
Richard Band Vol.7 - Scoring Suites
Live, big and beautiful, three orchestrated sets of themed, dramatic music cues for film scoring. Styles include Action, Film Noir and Heartland Americana, each with adaptations thematically related to create a cohesive score from beginning to end.
As this takes quite a bit of work, I want to know if there is an interest before I go through processing and uploading all 7 albums.

@ Ruggo: I'd like to see the Band set for one. These discs were licensed to be used as stock library cues for productions such as cable access shows & the like. Most of the cues come from Band's filmscores but I for one am curious to know what he chose & if there are any hidden nuggets in there.
Tony Banks-The Wicked Lady (1983)

Rip from Cassette to CD to mp3
This is only side two of the original album, featuring the orchestral score (arranged by Chris Palmer & conducted by Stanley Black). This is an absolutely beautiful score and that's probably due more to Palmer than rocker Banks. Side one of the album featured Banks playing themes from the score on synth but those tracks are not in this file.

@ isbum,
a) I'm glad this time my post will be right down at the end of a page.
b) Do you know that you sound wiser and wiser, AND wiser by the years?
c) If I haven't mentioned your angelic properties at GSW's spreadsheet page, it's because I would then should go on, to name Southview212 and filmpac for instance and so-forth; but might inadvertently forget some good ones. Wouldn't want to hurt any feelings.
d) I am collecting my "Thank Yous", a portion of which is reserved for you. Well, now I've spoiled the surprise, a voice from beyond deepest space :-))

Riddim1903:

Here's me expressing interest in this Richard Band set!!!! ;) ;) ;)
Gracias, but I'm not sure how much play the comedy album is going to get 'round the Goblin household - those cues on his Up & Down promo are grating as hell. But these action/horror/etc cues might be great fun!
@ Ruggo - Thanks for the Band! Not sure if you have or are posting covers, but if not I found the following on the web. It has a watermark on it, but I'm sure someone here is more than talented enough to clean it up!
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=4LPJDBHS
I have noticed a problem with the John Williams 2 disc The Fury.
1. The back cover lists track #8 (disc 1) as running 1:48
2. Soundtrack Collector lists the same track as running 1:48
3. The actual track runs 3:41
Is there a typo on the back cover which was carried over to STC when the tracks/times were entered?
I have downloaded files from 3 different uploaders and all three contain the 3:41 track.
I am going to assume the back cover running time is truely a typo that was carried over to STC.
Will someone confirm/deny/offer an explaination or just tell me to shut up and worry about more important things.

I'm using Windows Media Player to rip & the bitrate is set at 320 but either the CD drive or the ripping program seems to undercut what I'm trying to do.
@ Ruggo
seems to be great RICHARD BAND collection!

@ The Alchemist
thanks for having a look on it! Yeah, although if it's not a Tarot card, but I like this cover very much, too!
@sorei,
I will put a link in our "Chess Club". In about an hour.
Does anyone have the Phenomenon soundtrack? It contains tracks by various artists although there is a cue that is composed by Thomas Newman.

Sweet!
@ Alchemist:
Thank you for the Monte Walsh! You rock! :)

I posted this a couple of months ago so here's a re-up:

I have a "Phenomenon" promo with much of Newman's score (including the track on the commercial release). I'll post it shortly. ;)
@Rebecca:
Well that was a lot faster than I thought! (Rapidshare must be in a good mood today.)
"Phenomenon [Promo Score]" by Thomas Newman
This isn't my rip so thanks got to the original uploader. I forgot to check the bitrate, but I think it's 192. There's some art in there, too. Enjoy!

5 - Comedy
Fun, peppy, and cartoony tracks made for the most playful occasions. These cues hop, skip, flop, and jump with wacky abandon. Ideal for animation shorts or any comedic sequence. Features large, live studio orchestra.
http://rapidshare.com/files/292526835/Richard_Band_Vol.5.rar.html
Richard Band Vol. 6 - Family
An engaging variety of musical moods for family-oriented presentations. From touching passages to funny, quirky moments, this collection can cover many cinematic situations geared for young and old alike. Features large, live studio orchestra.

@ Ruggo
@ PatQuid

@ Steven64 and Stereoelf: Thank you both for such fast responses. Elf; There sure is numerous Friday the 13th items to chose from on that site. It's like a Jason Vorhees buffet. or slaughter in his case. 64; Thanks for the link. I was certain I had downloaded it before and did try looking back. So thanks for making it much easier for me. You both have a great week. Take care.
Hi.
I have a request...for the Robocop trilogy, any version, please!
@gsw: Huh. Apparently, I missed your post over the weekend. That's what I get for skimming the posts!
In any case, thank you very much for the update and the link.
@ stereoelf:
Thank you. I'm interested in any David Newman from Coneheads too.
I overlooked your v/s request for Lee Holdridge. Is the album you requested 8 tracks on lp and 13 on CD? Beastmaster, JL Seagull, Going home, etc? Got that one if you want.
More on the RICHARD BAND SOUND COLLECTION:
Things have gotten more interesting. Evidently this is a product of Sm@rt S0und Music. Each Volume retails for $99.95. With discount everything comes up to $560.
Volume 7 is a treasure trove comprising of 10 additional collections (gigabytes-worth of material). One of those collections is evidently a sampler of the other 9.
For now, I have processed and converted this sampler volume which includes the following unnumbered tracks:
--Cinematic Action 1
--Cinematic Action 2
--Cinematic Action 3
--Film Noir 1
--Film Noir 2
--Film Noir 3

@ Ruggo:
WOW! These Richard Band do-dads are great. Thanks for the effort. An amazing discovery!
Thanks in advance!
could someone please post the latest version of C*i@dr@n of t#e C*#N , and if it has already been posted please point me in the right direction.
Thanks guys!!
@ Dylan

It's Hugo Montenegro's Rosemary's Baby. I stripped the .mp3 extension off the name so you'll have to reattach it
@Steven64,
Thank you for the prompt response! This is exactly what I wanted.

Sorry to hear of your deletion probs. Thanks for the heads up. Lots of good stuff there. A treasure trove of Michael J.Lewis, for example!

@All:
I have a repeat question -- someone posted John Powell's promo score for "Bolt" a while back and either didn't supply the password, or I just missed it. Does anybody have it? (abby's request reminded me of this anew.)
Thanks!
@ Jadstersdad - If riddim doesn't have an upgrade of "Baskervilles"(sp)
put a request in to Southview212.
@ Steven64:
Try here:

Does any one have the complete or ultimate Back to the future soundtrack to all three films with no SFX.
I think Alan Silversri did a release
Cheers
@Steven64
I didn't post the Bolt but I have downloaded a "complete" version of the score that, when unpacked, had the title "promo score" with this password:

@isbum
thanks..I should have thought of that!

cheers
@Count Zero:
Thanks for the password AND the link! (I don't know why I couldn't find the original posting. Hysterical blindness!)
@stereoelf:
Thanks for the tip. Count Zero beat you to the punch by about 9 minutes, but thanks just the same. Count gave me a different password, but it worked and the file is, indeed, the one you listed above. Thanks again!
@ joeytino
Thanks for those hard to find Bond commentaries.
Main Title (with Paramount logo)
Main Title (extended with no Paramoung logo)
"Decorating the Apartment" and "Finale" from the OST (and any other cues that feature variations)
And by other artists:
Claudine Longet (with dreamy lyrics & vocal, full orchestra and chorus)
Twink (toy piano and organ)
Hugo Montenegro (full orchestra and voices)
The Enoch Light Orchestra
Fantomas (hard rock)
Harvey Averne (seventies lounge)
Mia Farrow ("single LP version" - very neat, orchestral lounge)
It's looking good! Any other help with more versions will be much appreciated!
I look forward to posting the end result.
Adding credit where it is due to my thanks above:
@ Trident and PatQuid
Once again, any more help in directing me toward other versions or more posts of other versions will be very appreciated.
@DonovansBrain:

I'm open to the idea of opening a "shop" for these.
Who here want's to RUN it?
Email me or tell me here if you want to be an active participant in overseeing the shop.
Id love a shop for these ...
@isbum:
I'm with Goldiemusic and joeytino, et al re: a shop for commentaries.
RE: Commentaries
This guy has a pretty massive collection online.

But it wouldn't hurt specialize in the rare lazerdisc / "banned" commentaries. I'm enjoying those VERY much.
@Trident - You said "any" David Newman? I have the scores to the 2 Bill and Ted flicks if you want them, and I'll throw in his Sundance Film Music Fanfare. :O)
Requests - Does anyone have Classical Hollywood I and/or II?
@ Roryseber
Did I write "any David Newman"? Didn't mean to but I'm glad I did. I have B&T's 2 but lack B&T's 1, but I'm sure a lot of folks would like both.
