Does anyone have the V@rese Club release of Jerry Goldsmith's "Justine"? I'm ripping my copy for Library209 and need some cover scans to put into the file. I'll take Lp covers if that's all you have. Thanks in advance!
Regarding Dr.Who: In my case changing it to .rar didn't work at all. So thinking along the same lines I changed the downloaded filename to who.zip and, low and behold, it worked.
@Southview212: I've got Mr. Elfman's "Vol. 3" @320 with artwork. I'm uploading it now but it's a big file (370 MB!) so check back in a couple of hours.
I said earlier, "today is a Danny Elfman day". Here is an array of Elfman scores that I don't remember being shared in a while (if ever). These are all new rips from my CD's @320...
Night Breed..... http://rapidshare.com/files/289529841/NightBreed_DE.rar
Had a chance to see Von Trier's Anti Christ the other day. I didn't realise until the end credits that he'd dedicated the film to Andrei Tarkovsky. It got me thinking of this, Tarkovsky's first feature, Ivan's Childhood. Full title of release is:
Andrei Tarkovsky Volume 1 - Ivanovo Detstvo - To3i Music (1995) - Vyacheslav Ovchinnikov.
(Don't worry that's not the rar name).
The file contains both a FLAC and 320K, which gives you an indication how short the score is.
I visit this forum since the end of August and found some interesting music here. Therefore I want to thank all who shared the files.
While I was reading the comments last month, I realized that you prefer the files as mp3 at 320. I imported my CDs with iTunes at 192 because I did not know that 320 was possible. But you showed me how it can be done. Unfortunately, I had already more than the half of my CDs imported as mp3 at 192 at that time. Now, since I have to start again right at the beginning, I would like to ask you what is the best way to preserve his CD collection in the best digital way.
The intention is as follows:
At first, I want to convert my CDs in a digital file (lossless or mp3). Preferably the best of the both which would be lossless, I think. Because I want to store the digital „discs“ on an external hard drive so that I can store the physical CDs somewhere else. And if the storage of iTunes or more likely my iPod gets full, I can compress the lossless files to mp3 anytime later. When I have converted the CDs I would like to import the files into my iTunes for further preparations (adjusting the tags and lyrics and so on).
Can you please advise me which software and which setting I should use? Which file format should I use so that there will be no loss of quality when I import them into iTunes. I know that iTunes can't import flac and wav will be converted.
And last but not least, I would like to know how you can eliminate the gaps between two tracks which actually segues into each other if you listen to them on CD.
I hope you can help me because I would like to preserve my music collection in a good condition.
So, I'm looking forward to hearing from you and in the meantime I will look what gems of shared files are presented here. ;-)
Best regards
Peter
PS: As soon as I have all my music imported as mp3 at 320 (or lesser where unfortunately appropriate) I will actively join this forum.

@Richard-- Okay, took a while. Here's the Stromberg re-recording of "Fahrenheit 451" @320. I noticed someone posted the artwork in the art dept in the past.
@Richard - I'm pretty sure that Ruggo included the Fahrenheit 451 suite I spoke of in his Herrmann compilation so we will pass that one over. The Ts@n@m! & S@undst@ge I will post ASAP.
I will also post the V@r@s@ The Egyptian ASAP and the F@M The Egyptian I will post this weekend as a weekend special.
@Joona - Be on the lookout this weekend for The Egyptian. I either did not remember or did not see your previous request. I'm sorry.

Blatant Tie-in! some time back i did a film rip of the original Rocky pic Somebody Up There Likes Me (1956) with a great score by Bronislau Kaper http://rapidshare.com/files/162087111/Somebody_Up_There_Likes_Me__1956__-_Bronislau_Kaper.rar
I saw Von Trier's Antichrist today. The first 6 minutes had to be one of the most bravura pieces of film making I have ever seen (I watched this prelude 8 times and it doesn't hurt that the music for this segment is also my favorite opera aria).
Unfortunately, I felt the rest of the film didn't quite live up to those first six minutes, however it was a startling exercise in two-character development, an almost claustrophobic mental coming apart of the husband and wife.
For great vintage Von Trier, watch Breaking The Waves.
The dedication to Tarkovsky is quite appropriate, especially when you consider the themes he explores in Solaris.
@Southview212: Here it is finally! Megaupload was acting hinky, so if you have any problems with the link, let me know. This is not my rip so thanks go to the original uploader.
"Music for a Darkened Theater - Vol. 3" 2CD @320 - complete artwork included http://www.megaupload.com/?d=O9777878
@Richard - about the Stromberg recordings: Wm. Stromberg and his, (and my) friend, John Morgan, have reconstructed and re-recorded several classic film scores. Their Adventures of Robin Hood is especially good, and recorded on a DVD so as to take advantage of surround sound. Go to John Morgan's myspace or facebook page to find out more. You can also check them out at Soundtrack Net. You should also hear their original works - I suggest Trinity & Beyond - very nice stuff.
@The Alchemist - Thank you very much for the Rosenthals.
I have a question. I downloaded the 2 disc TV Music and they are IDed as disc 1 and disc 2 and each have 28 tracks, but when you look at STC disc 1 has 28 tracks and disc two only has 25 tracks. Did you mistakenly upload the same disc twice and name them differently?
Unfortunately the "Music For Television" links are all jumbled up I'm affraid. Some of the tracks are the same in both CDs, but after looking through the running times on the tracklist, I believe tracks 2-9 of CD1 are missing. They are as follows:
(All from MUSSOLINI - THE UNTOLD STORY)
2. Claretta (2:00) 3. Matteotti's Death (0:53) 4. The Family (3:38) 5. The Squadristi (1:20) 6. Ciano And Edda (1:26) 7. Rachele (1:37) 8. Riots (0:46) 9. The Farmhouse/Milan (3:49)
Your CD1 has tracks 1-8 of the tracks from CD2. And CD2 has tracks 1, 26-28 of tracks from CD1. Additionally there is a mystery track 9 on your first CD that I cannot identify by running time. But as I said, tracks 2-9 of CD1 are missing.
Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but I thought you'd like to know. :(
Appreciate your efforts just the same though buddy, take care. :)
Hi Dear Friends, please can anyone help me with those soundtracks?
- Scaramuche (FSM) - Victor Young This score is posted in vagos.fm but I have very bad sound (192 kbps) and the tracks 13 (Trap Door) and 23 (Chase) contains noises and distorsions. Please, can anyone upload the score to 320 kbps and very good sound. - Le Soldatesse - Mario Nascimbene - Cronaca di un Delito / Operazione Mitra / La Valigia dei Sogni (Beat Records)- Mario Nascimbene - Samson and Delilah (1949) - Victor Young From LaserDisc's mono isolated music and effects track. 28 tracks. Total time: 01:13:15 - High Noon (includes suites from High Noon, Cyrano de Bergerac, 55 Days at Peking and The Alamo) BMG Classics/RCA Victor Red Seal - The Best Of Victor Young & The Brunswick Studio Orchestra 1932-1934 - Cinema Rhapsodies - The Musical Genius of Victor Young (Hit Parade 13501) - Jesus of Nazareth (Expanded Score) - Maurice Jarre
Many, many thanks and sorry for the inconvenience.
"Prophecy" !1979! Leonard Rosenman I'm looking for the 2001 promo/boot, not Master Cylinder's rip. Urgent! I need this for a good friend of mine who just underwent a critical eye operation. He needs some sophisticated distraction over the weekend, and I know he wants this score so bad...
And two humble wishes for this weekend's SNS or one of the next ones:

Here you go, John - THE CARETAKERS and THE YOUNG DOCTORS. Not my shares, just some links I found on my intrnet travels, so thanks to the original uploader:
@ Tlkjwe - Here is the first of your many requests. "The Greatest Game Ever Played" - Brian Tyler. A really fine Big Orchestra score. Probably one of Tyler's best efforts. It's lossless-FLAC (281 mb)....
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=8AOGIHQU
I can only help you with 3 more scores, as FLAC. I'll send them when all are uploaded.
When I first tried to open the zip file for the good doctor, it wanted a password. I followed the advise of Ebonson and renamed the whole file who.zip and got it to open.
Does this mean that we can open any password protected zip file by simply renaming it? Hmmmm!!
@ stereoelf - I can definately send Martinez's Narc", @320, later today. FYI, the commerical release of "Wonderland" (2003), is a song only CD. There aren't any Martinez tracks on the CD.
Roryseber previosly posted Trinity & Beyond, so here is another Stromberg and Morgan collaboration for another documentary about nuclear weapons. So here is Atomic Journeys & Nukes In Space. This is not my rip. Thanks to the original uploader(?)

@ all: Sorry about the Rosenthal screw-up. I don't know just what happened there at all. I've deleted the files & they no longer work. When I get time, I'll go back & re-rip the discs & post the links to the new files (which I hope & pray won't have these problems). Again, I wasn't aware of what happened & I'm sorry. I'll try & correct it if I can.
Here's one I've never seen offered before. If you dig Mark Snow's work on 'X-Files', you should enjoy this, which was composed around the same time period and has a very similar sound.
I've decided to try to reconstruct a soundtrack for the Republic Serial, Flash Gordon's Trip to Mars (the soundtrack of which was originally made up from various pre-existing soundtracks anyway)
Does anyone have any of the following?: Black Cat - Heinz Roemheld The Invisible Man - Heinz Roemheld Dracula's Daughter - Heinz Roemheld Bombay Mail - Heinz Roemheld Werewolf of London - Karl Hajos Great Impersonation - Clifford Vaughan.
I am trying to find the cd Conversation Piece: An Unvarnished Chat with Bernard Herrmann. Here is the art work posted in TAD. http://thecrimelounge3.blogspot.com/2009/06/conversation-piece-unvarnished-chat.html
Hi dear friend, I also a lot of for time search this soundtrack but I don´t find it. That´s a pity!. I wait let's be able enjoy soon this Nascimbene's magnificent contribution.
Many thanks by Prophesy By Leonard Rosenman but the request was the good friend Colonel Saunders. Anyhow thank you very much because is fantastic score
@Ruggo and Alls
Hi Dear Friends. I upload a new compilation about swards and heroes in the cinema. I hope that you like this compilation.

Dear friend Ruggo, sorry but I don´t designed artwork and I hope that you can design. Always I confide in your spectacular and magnificent Atrwork. Many thanks dear friend. A great pleasure upload a one new compilation to Ruggo and Jean's Fine House Of Compilations. Thanks.

Themes from Classic Science Fiction, Fantasy and Horror Films - VSD-5407 Music composed by Henry Mancini, Hans J. Salter, Herman Stein and others. http://www.megaupload.com/?d=6FFY81KC
Originally released in 1959, this album was re-released on CD in 1993, but has now been out-of-print for some time. Ripped @ 320 with 300dpi cover scans.
Re: Rosenthal: The uploader has indicated there was a problem with the tracks and removed the posting. He said he would be re-upping them, so stay tuned.
There's some sort of promo release of music from THE MAN WITH ONE RED SHOE and GUNG HO (the Michael Keaton movie). Might have it somewhere around here, will check after work. :)
I am always happy to receive one of your imaginative compilations, and enjoy preparing cover art for them.
However
Just in case I happen to miss your posting on the busy Filmscorium, please also post in the comments section of Ruggo And Jean's House Of Fine Compilations. The comments there are fairly sparse, and I always check for additions.
Should anyone else have that special "mix tape" you'd like to see posted, I invite you to do the same.
Your GREAT SWORDS OF HOLLYWOOD artwork is done and posted over at Ruggo And Jean's House Of Fine Compilations.
Note: Historians claim that Basil Rathbone was probably the most accomplished swordsman in Hollywood. Therefore, it is only appropriate that he be on the cover of your album along with the other great swordsman (in more ways than one!), Errol Flynn.
If you're a completist, here's the original 1959 vinyl version of Themes from Classic Science Fiction, Fantasy and Horror Films (which includes (silly) narration and sound effects). I found this at http://universalhorrorsounds.blogspot.com
@Ebonsun & --mcc: I've got the "Red Shoe / Gung Ho" promo @320 and am uploading now. I just had it handy, but --mcc, if you get it up here before I'm done, totally cool.
Ralph Richardson narrating Peter and the Wolf ,need i say more... plumped out with Brittens Young Persons guide to the Orchestra and R Strauss Till Eulenspiegel (apologies for skating across some parts of the last track)
@ isbum - Curioser and curioser. That one would be nice too, hopefully it shall turn up. But there does appear to be a complete LP of just Pete 'n' Tillie, if the listing on Soundtrack Collector is correct:
@ Filmpac - It's the one I ripped already - Listed as "Centurion CLP-1600" titled "Film Music" Unless any John Williams fan tells me otherwise, their is no full Lp of P&T.
Subject: To Live and Die in L.A. • The Other Side of L.A. [The 25th Anniversary Limited Edition]
Status: Done
That's right, here's another Special Limited Edition for all the contributing members of this AWESOME forum. I have got some cool things that some of You have provided, so I feel the need to give back in a Special way, other than just uploading a generic OST.
I would imagine that these songs were not included on the original release due to licensing agreements.
This film must have been one of the best films of the mid 80's. It's too bad they don't make 'em like this anymore. I still remember every time I drove through L.A., it was mandatory to play the CD soundtrack while sitting in traffic on the 5 Northbound. Ya, I kinda miss it.
This 'Limited Edition' will only be available thru this weekend, and I request that it be kept within this forum of members, so as to make this an exclusive kinda thing.
A Very Big THANKS to bistis6 for the contributions to some links that helped to complete this collection.
Track List; 1. Hey Lawdy Mama - Junior Wells 2. Good Morning Schoolgirl - Junior Wells 3. The Conductor Wore Black - Rank and File 4. Coyote - Rank and File 5. Rank and File - Rank and File 6. Cold Day In Hell - Otis Rush 7. Lookin' Good - Magic Sam 8. Independant Intavenshan - Linton K. Johnson 9. It's an Uphill Climb to the Bottom - Walter Jackson 10. Wang Chung - Dance Hall Days / Wait (Inner Groove Outtro) [Special Bonus Track Mix]
Well, the only problem was locating the AM-FM song "LA, LA" (Jed Leiber). If any one here has this or a link, Please post it so I can amend it to this compilation.
About this Alternate OST: All the tracks have been Digitally Re-mastered using Final Cut's Soundtrack Pro. If an LP source was used, then they have been carefully edited / faded and-or- 'mixed'.
About the Wang Chung 'Mix':
The source was from the German LP, the track are arranged and mixed into each other, as well as an extra bonus 'inner groove' track that repeats at the end of the LP, of course it fades out on this compilation. The Dance hall Days has been mixed into Wait, I hope You like it.
Why wasn't the original Wang Chung offered here?
Because Most of You who are going to D/L this one already have it. - It's still easy to come by these days, especially in the used shops, or eBay.
If someone would also like to do a cover for this Special Edition, Please do so, I know there are some talented people here that have done some cool covers for other projects on the forum.
@british music lovers anyone want a 30 cd hee-hem-hi boxset of Vaughan Williams in flac weighing in at 8GB...can there be anyone with enough time!! anyway i got the opera Riders to the Sea (still in my to be listened to 'pile'!) It's a Russian site and the links are still good, here's the original page http://boxset.ru/vaughan-williams-the-collectors-edition-30-cd-box-set-flac/ and here's a download of the seperate links http://rapidshare.com/files/290494708/vaughan_williams_edition30cd.txt there's plenty of other composers at this site too.
Thanks a million for ONE RED SHOE. I'm most appreciative!!
@WriterDirectorCollector
Impressive job with the TO LIVE AN DIE IN L.A. soundtrack. Thanks!! (The original soundtrack has always been one of my favorites - 'tis great to add to it.)
@ Ruggo it's been that long since i downloaded the vaughan williams i can't remember if i had to do anything fancy..i'll ava bash tommorow when my heads more in gear then let u know if i get any where..
Could someone upload a copy of the song "Number One" from Real Genius for me? I had a crash over the weekend, and lost the download of the album, but that was the one song I really really wanted, and now it's gone! Thanks in advance!
i'll leave you with this, a real Film theme cracker from 1965 a bonus record from a Readers Digest set...don't know what. really well played includes excellent versions of Charade and Tom Jones and many more
@Christine Cougar: I'm uploading "Number One" and it should be ready in a few minutes. (That was my favorite song, too!) Of course, thanks go to WriterDirectorCollector for the original upload.
You wouldn't happen to have that "All the Presidents Men" release, would you? (I'm looking for any release actually, but that one does look darned nice.)
The Film theme bootleg is really an amazing find. Not only does it contain he creme of 70's themes but a lot of the versions are new to me! Never thought I'd hear a souped-up All The President's Men, Mackintosh Man, Or Long Goodbye. I guess these were 7" singles released to cash in on the movies. Excellent stuff!
That Russian site also has the Stravinsky legacy 22disc set. I can't recommend Strav enough - he's probably my favourite composer.
And fans of John Williams should most certainly visit part 9 of his Rite of Spring. Williams unashamedly ripped it off - I mean paid homage to it ;) - for his Star Wars score(the Dune sea of Tattooine/Jawa Sandcrawler)
Bernard Herrmann - Jason and the Argonauts Roy Budd - Sinbad and the Eye of the Tiger Miklós Rózsa - The Golden Voyage of Sinbad Franz Waxman - Dark Passage
@Richard - You can find a bootleg of Dark Passage over at the Master Cylinder's shop. I don't think there was ever an official release of this score. STC doesn't show one.
I have the other three and I will post them tomorrow evening for you. If someone else posts before I can by all means grab theirs.
@Southview212 Thank you so much for Narc. @all Just took my crew to see Toy Story 3D - if you haven't had the pleasure, go see it! Let's go home and....play.
@ Richard didn't universal have to cough up to the Stravinsky estate over the jaws music too....arrgghh don't make me dig my Stravinsky records out!!..i've got enough on my plate..oh go on then..i'm off into the attic!! ; )

Out of interest, why are the recordings shared here mostly in compressed/mp3 format?
All the other music collector sites that I use are quite rigorous about preserving rare/shared recordings in a lossless format, such as FLAC or SHN.
SNS request: does anyone have the Harkit CD of Goldsmith's SEBASTIAN? http://www.harkitrecords.com/sebastian.html Lossless or MP3@320 would be appreciated.
Would any Sonic Youth fans, or fans of Japanese cinema, have a line on a soundtrack to a Koji Wakamatsu film called UNITED RED ARMY... featuring Jim O'Rourke (of Sonic Youth)? As far as I know, it's a Japanese import item. More info: http://www.united-red-army.com/?page_id=17&language=en If so, thanks!
I had enough material for about five volumes, but for once used a little self-control and limited myself to just one. Didn't want any chapped lips.

@jcmg103: Here's one of your requests. "Star Trek V: The Final Frontier" by Jerry Goldsmith - CD rip - 10@320 - complete artwork included http://rapidshare.com/files/290866955/trekv_320.zip
Will you guys trust me when I say that H@rkit release blew monkey chunks! The Digit@l Gold Lp rip is a hundred times better than that.
However, if you won't take it from me, someone who is dead set against criticizing ANYTHING, at least listen to it @320 before wasting someones time with a lossless version.
All that was accomplished with this release was to delay the proper version *again!
*"Klute" was delayed for around a year before F@M produced their complete version. UGH!
This might be rare, might not. I bought a cassette, "Psycho: Great Hitchcock Movie Thrillers," back in 1992. When I bought the cd version a few years later, I noticed that the track below was not on the cd. So here's a transfer from my cassette of a nice arrangement of Miklos Rozsa's "Spellbound" theme, with Stanley Black conducting the London Festival Orchestra and Chorus (there's a chorus instead of theremin), from 1968. Runs about 4:47.
Hi philcrosbby: Honored General shared Napoleon in August; here the link from that time http://www.sendspace.com/file/bgq135 Honored General I'm still listening to it and so grateful for your effort.
All - THERE IS A NEW SPREAD SHEET!!! You can find it on the main FranklyYes page. THXjay has kindly made a new sign for the sheet and I thank him very much. Simply click the sign and you will find the link for the sheet in my post.
Thank you isbum for your enthusiasm when I first told you what I was up to and for making such a wonderful environment for us all to share with each other.
I hope you guys enjoy this new update. It should make it much easier to find what you are looking for.
Today's UBIs (Useless Bits Of Information): #1: The lead character in Dead Heat is named Roger Mortis. Mortis is Latin for "death". #2: Carnivorous animals will not eat another animal that has been hit by a lightning strike. #3: Studies show that if a cat falls off the seventh floor of a building it has about thirty percent less chance of surviving than a cat that falls off the twentieth floor. It supposedly takes about eight floors for the cat to realize what is occuring, relax and correct itself. #4: 99% of all lobsters die a few weeks after hatching. In fact, the odds are 10,000 to 1 against any larval lobster living long enough to end up as a lobster dinner. #5: It is a misdemeanor to kill or threaten a butterfly -- so says City Ordinance No. 352 in Pacific Grove, California. #6: The fingerprints of koala bears are virtually indistinguishable from those of humans, so much so that they could be confused at a crime scene. #7: Iguanas, koalas and Komodo dragons all appear to have two penises. Actually, they have a single penis, but it is split in two (pretty much 'Y'-shaped.) Apparently, the dual penis is for ease of left-handed or right-handed mating. #8: Many species of bird copulate in the air. In general, a couple will fly to a very high altitude, and then drop. During their descent, the birds mate. Sometimes the couple gets too involved and SPLAT!
@Richard - I am sorry I did not clarify where the Master Cylinder's shop was. I took it for granted that you were aware he had his own shop. Bad move on my part.
I have your Harryhausen requests uploading now and I should be able to post the links in a couple of hours. I got a late start tonight.
@anonymousremains - Thank you for assisting Richard with the Master Cylinder search and for taking up my slack. Sometimes my old gray cells don't always spark the way they are suppose to.
Would anybody be interested in an LP rip of Mancini's score to the '67 flick, Gunn? I found it the other day at a thrift store, and it's in really good condition. Let me know. :O)
@ filmpac - wow. those UBI's were so damn fascinating, i actually copied & pasted your post into a text file for reasons i cannot even explain. i somehow just felt compelled to save it. where do you come up with this stuff? amazing...foreals.
@ Richard - re: your question as to why things are more often posted in compressed mp3 format over lossless here...lemme start off first with my disclaimer...
i can only speak for myself, so my opinions may not necessarily reflect the views of this blog or any of it's visitors. having said that, my guess is that it's probably because to my knowledge, this community has been around for at least 3-4 years now (please correct me if i'm wrong, isbum) and it's been pretty much the standard protocol to share at 320kbps mp3, as this was before FLAC became as prevalent as it has today. old habit's die hard, and as we get older, we naturally resist change. for me, the slight improvement in sound quality simply isn't worth the trade-off for the size being more than twice as large. in all honesty, i've been working in audio/recording engineering for almost a decade now, and i have a hard time noticing the difference. if i were listening in a mixing environment with nearfield monitors and headphones, and i was to compare a 320kbps mp3 vs flac encoding of the same song, i might be able to discern which of the two was which, but anywhere else, i'd have a real hard time telling the difference.
i might be offending some people in saying this, but i've been wanting to get this off my chest for some time now...whenever i see people requesting a lossless version of a post somebody has just shared at 320kbps, i can't help but feel slightly irked by it all...not only for the obvious "beggars can't be choosers" reasons, or the "if you want lossless, then go buy the cd" reasons, but also because i'd be real skeptical that the person would be able to tell the difference if they were to be put to a listening test.

Enjoy them all!
I have a 2 disc 32 track (no track titles) bootleg of Golden Voyage of Sinbad that I have no idea of where it came from. Does anyone know anything about this? Anybody have any track titles for it? Anybody want it? I can upload if you do.
All kidding aside, I also agree with you completely. For me, lossless = CD, not FLAC/APE/Etc. Unless you have dog's ears I honestly can't see how anyone can tell the difference betwixt 320 and lossless.
I need some help from one of our resident computer experts.
I store my music files on an external hard drive and I am having major problems with the number of spaces I can use to name track titles. At the moment I can only use 70 spaces to name a track. The crazy thing is the number of spaces varies from file to file and when I reach whatever the limit is the allowence for the next track is shorter and each time it gets shorter and shorter and shorter. What is going on? I can't even name tracks while they are on my main hard drive anymore because if they happen to be longer than whatever lenght the external drive decides they should be it corrupts the track when I transfer the file. Isn't there some kind of setting on the external hard drive where I can adjust/choose a character/space limit?
Isn't the normal character/space limit somewhere around 250?
Another thing is if by some miracle the hard drive does accept a long track title if I choose to rename the file the tracks with long titles corrupt or if I choose to move the file within the hard drive it refuses to move the tracks with long titles.
@ tripmaster - Same here and thanks for saying what at least some of us have been thinking! I get the whole 320 vs. 128 issue (although I didn't at first until I started getting upgrades here of soundtracks I already had), but all the FLAC flack just strikes me as little more than snobbery.
Assuming you are using a Windows PC, it's possible your external hard drive is formatted to the older FAT file system instead of the newer NTFS system. Most external drives are FAT that way they can advertise them as being Mac and PC compatible.
An easy way to find out is to right click on the drive and select properties and it will say what the file system is. Hope this helps.
re: the harddrive. I have the same problem. But as far as I am aware it's not possible to change the character/space limit. But I could be wrong. The files aren't corrupted as such, they just get automatically renamed.
@everyone I totally agree that you can't hear the difference between flac and a 320 file (I'm often happy to go down to 192, though 128 is clearly substandard); I was just wondering, that's all. I hope my question didn't come across as a complaint - it really wasn't intended that way. As you can see I also uploaded at 320.
Now that this bell has been rung, (followed by three or four chimes) I can only imagine that a few of our visitors and contributors will be making for the door marked "out".
I've always been fine with "share what you can, when you can, in any way you can."
Time will prove these format's to be either this moments fad or the new standard of sharing.
One thing is clear. Exact Audio Copies = The Cd. I know of at least one private blog that shares only in lossless formats.
Let's just keep an open mind for now. Southview212 is fine with filling these. The Alchemist would be fine if they brought in the kind of download numbers that .mp3's do.
I'm not into splitting our community over this. I say we relax and let it play out naturally.
I just delivered "Prophecy" to my buddy who's recovering from surgery. After 5 weeks of frustration and despair, I've never seen such a happy expression on a dude's face like when I presented him the delicious Pizza Rosenman. Isbum, many thanks for your help. There is actually no way for me to repay you. But I owe you a big favour.
@JM's Enterprise - Now that you mentioned FAT & NTFS I remember having a conversation with filmpac about my hard drive formatting but I can't remember what prompted the conversation. Mine is FAT32. Can the hard drive be re-formated to NTFS and if so, how? What I really don't understand is why this character/space limit is not consistant between files. I renamed the tracks for three different files, the first one I had no problems, the second one I had major problems (which reminded me of the problem because this was not the first time I had encountered it), the third one no problem. Computer functions make no sense to me at all.
RE: Spread sheet. Thank you all for your kinds words and excitement.
@ gsw - Yep, I did indeed advise you format as NTFS vs FAT32, as that is deemed to be more stable, especially on large drives. Reformatting now would wipe the drive, so you would need to copy everything off first. If you go down this road, google for instructions on how to format for your operating system, since they vary quite a bit.
Re file naming: The total length of the pathname (filename plus all folder names) cannot exceed 260 characters. There is no setting for this anywhere, it is a fixed length. As a general rule, this is more than enough, unless you strike really really long folder names, like that recent Dr Who download. If you are storing your music in a long folder name on the external drive (eg GSW's kickass score collection that he got from the really cool people at FranklyYES)... then shorten it hehe.
Final note: Regardless of which format you are using (NTFS or FAT32), and even assuming you have ridiculously long folder names... under no circumstances should this cause file corruption. So yet again mate, you would seem to have some other cause at work. Perhaps some funny non-standard character in the folder name? I dunno really, but here there is some good news, you can rename folders to your hearts content.
Oh yeah, and thanks for the spreadsheet mate, a freakin' godsend! Best :))
PS. Yeah, I go with what everyone up there said about 320 vs FLAC. At least until we get bigger drives and faster connections.
Thanks so much for posting "Number One". I can live with the loss of the other songs, but not that one! Fortunately, all of my other recent downloads were stored on my secondary hard drive and were spared.
Hello Friends - I thought I would express my two cents about the lossless vs 320 issue. I listen to my music on my computer, connected to a DAC and then to high grade audio gear with B&W speakers. I, for one, definitely notice the difference in sound quality between an MP3 and a FLAC-encoded rip done correctly, depending on the music. Orchestral music recorded in the "modern" era (last 20-30 years) will almost always display compression artifacts in the strings when encoded at low bit rates. I noticed this early on. Rock, pop, jazz, song scores and older, vintage recordings are almost always FINE at 320.
A rip done on properly-configured EAC (Exact Audio Copy) program will provide an EXACT duplicate of the CD, including spacing between tracks (or no space, providing a seemless and uninterupted listening experience). How many of you have listened to a soundtrack at 320 with gaps between the tracks when none was intended?
Anyway, these are my personal preferences and fully respect those that are satisfied at 320 (or lower). There is no need to insult anyone's opinion or preference.
These days, HD's are dirt cheap so space is not an issue for me anymore, like it once was. Therefore, LOSSLESS for me!!
That being said, the 320 rips offered here are great and I love auditioning discs I am considering for purchase. THANKS TO ALL YOU GENEROUS SHARERS!!
to whom it may concern: is it possivble to re-upload the "Film Themes" compilation from Centurion (Centurion CLP-1600)? I'm very much interested in the Golds,ith/Williams covers!
I am not acquainted with George Malcolm, so thank you for the opportunity to listen to him.
Having found a discography of Peter Nero, I see that I am missing a few more than I thought.
Would you by any chance have any of the following?:
Reflections, RCA, 1964. Career Girls, RCA, 1965. Peter Nero Up Close, RCA, 1966. Tender is the Night, RCA, 1967. Peter Nero Plays "Love is Blue" and Ten Other Great Songs, RCA, 1968. Love Trip, RCA, 1969.
And are there any that you are looking for? Here is the list: http://www.spaceagepop.com/nero.htm
Wow, George Malcolm sure knows his way around that harpsichord! What a technique! The only faster performance of the Bumble Bee I've heard was the late, great Ray Turner on Sparky's Magic Piano - and that was probably sped up anyway.
I'll be brief: you can't really compare Malcolm with Nero - both are top keyboardists and there's lots of room in my collection for each of them.
I invariably post lossless files on my blog and elsewhere because that's what I archive and you can easily change lossless to a lossy format, if you choose. Now, considering that I trade almost exclusively in vinyl that is more than 50 years old, why would I bother with lossless files? It's because restoration software and my own skills keep getting better, and the files I offer now are much better than the files I offered a year ago. If I have lossless files, I can (and do) go back to the original rips and provide better transfers. I couldn't do that as effectively if I saved out everything in lossy format.
For that reason, I wish everyone would offer lossless files, although I would never ask for such. This is true even of rips from CDs. CDs often sound fine, but they just as often sound bad - not because the CD medium is a bad medium, but because the mastering or original recording wasn't very good, especially on vintage material. For that reason, I often rebalance even CD rips to my own taste. But then I am a little weird!
Maybe not score-related, but Halloween related (hey it's October)! From 2003, Jerry Seinfeld performing his bit on Halloween, from the audio cd that accompanied his book. About 6 minutes in length.@320
REQUEST: If anyone could help me. I am looking for the soundtrack to Woody Allen's 1985 film "The Purple Rose Of Cairo". It was released on vinyl for MCA records. Thanks!
As promised, here's a custom cover I tossed together for "To Live And Die In L.A.". Take a look, tell me if you like it and/or what changes can be made, and we'll go from there. Hope you like it!
Lossless won't go into the iPod so I prefer MP3. I guess it depends on what you want to do with the music. I don't use CD's much anymore.
A question: I gather that most people here use Windows. How come you guys use Apes and Flacs instead of .wav which you can make with Windows Media Player? That is lossless and it can be used with iPod and everybody should have it on their PC.

Hello, friend. If it's possible, could you look into posting less-lengthy links for everyone here?

Dramatic cover of "Chinatown" and "Murder On the Orient Express" themes.
Very good versions of "Shaft", "The French Connection", "Sacco & Vanzetti".

Hello all,
I visit this forum since the end of August and found some interesting music here.

Thank you for the Takovsky film music.

@Richard, and anyone else interested - John Morgan's and Wm. Stromberg's score for Trinity & Beyond

@ Steven64 -
Worked great. Everything seems to be complete. THANKS!
@ The Alchemist
Thanks very much for your Rosenthal shares.
2. Claretta (2:00)
3. Matteotti's Death (0:53)
4. The Family (3:38)
5. The Squadristi (1:20)
6. Ciano And Edda (1:26)
7. Rachele (1:37)
8. Riots (0:46)

I'm looking for the 2001 promo/boot, not Master Cylinder's rip. Urgent! I need this for a good friend of mine who just underwent a critical eye operation. He needs some sophisticated distraction over the weekend, and I know he wants this score so bad...
And two humble wishes for this weekend's SNS or one of the next ones:
Request No #2:

Might I also suggest echoes of Ai No Corrida - the bed as battlefield?
@ Parzival:
Thank you very much for The Minus Man!
I don't worry about the delay...
I'm just happy that someone filled my request!!!
Thanks a lot, Parzival!
@ all:
Uploaded some scores, thanks to the original ripper!

Many thanks Dave for 'THE CARETAKERS and THE YOUNG DOCTORS' and, as you say, thanks also to the original uploader.
@ Tlkjwe - Here is the first of your many requests. "The Greatest Game Ever Played" - Brian Tyler. A really fine Big Orchestra score. Probably one of Tyler's best efforts. It's lossless-FLAC (281 mb)....

I can only help you with 3 more scores, as FLAC. I'll send them when all are uploaded.
Re: Dr. Who
When I first tried to open the zip file for the good doctor, it wanted a password. I followed the advise of Ebonson and renamed the whole file who.zip and got it to open.
Does this mean that we can open any password protected zip file by simply renaming it? Hmmmm!!
@ stereoelf -
I can definately send Martinez's Narc", @320, later today.
FYI, the commerical release of "Wonderland" (2003), is a song only CD. There aren't any Martinez tracks on the CD.

Could someone share please, Jerry Goldsmith - 40 Years of Film Music, if you have.
Thanks for all.

Hey guys!

@ Ebonsun --
There's some sort of promo release of music from THE MAN WITH ONE RED SHOE and GUNG HO (the Michael Keaton movie). Might have it somewhere around here, will check after work. :)
@ Richard
Thank you very much for
Themes from Classic Science Fiction, Fantasy and Horror Films
@Big Rózsa
@Big Rózsa
@ Abby: There was a screw-up with the Rosenthal TV files & I will re-post them this weekend.

Just hearing there MAY be something recorded from ONE RED SHOE is encouraging. Thanks for your time, sir!
Here's a rarity I stumbled across recently, listed as a promo single by Soundtrack Collector. Walter Matthau sings...
John Williams "Pete 'n' Tillie" (1972), single @192:
http://rapidshare.com/files/290431056/JW-PeteNTillie_Single.zip <---
Request:
Soundtrack Collector also lists an LP of Pete 'n' Tillie. Really?? Anyone?

I've got the "Red Shoe / Gung Ho" promo @320 and am uploading now. I just had it handy, but --mcc, if you get it up here before I'm done, totally cool.

@ Filmpac - The album you speak of is the bootleg on Centurian records called "Film Music".
Listed here below F@M's "All the Presidents Men" ->
http://www.soundtrackcollector.com/catalog/soundtrackdetail.php?movieid=24804
I ripped this and thought for sure Tony had it posted @ I LOVE MY TURNTABLE, but can't locate it, so my link may have died.
@ isbum - Curioser and curioser. That one would be nice too, hopefully it shall turn up. But there does appear to be a complete LP of just Pete 'n' Tillie, if the listing on Soundtrack Collector is correct:
http://www.soundtrackcollector.com/catalog/soundtrackdetail.php?movieid=22823
The song by Walter Matthau is really quite lovely.
@Dusty - Go to the August 8, 2009 comments and you will find your request. The Alchemist posted them along with other Dark Shadows related files.
@ Filmpac - It's the one I ripped already - Listed as "Centurion CLP-1600" titled "Film Music"
Unless any John Williams fan tells me otherwise,
their is no full Lp of P&T.
To: All
Subject: To Live and Die in L.A.
Track List;
1. Hey Lawdy Mama - Junior Wells
2. Good Morning Schoolgirl - Junior Wells
3. The Conductor Wore Black - Rank and File
4. Coyote - Rank and File
5. Rank and File - Rank and File
6. Cold Day In Hell - Otis Rush
7. Lookin' Good - Magic Sam
8. Independant Intavenshan - Linton K. Johnson
9. It's an Uphill Climb to the Bottom - Walter Jackson
About this Alternate OST:
All the tracks have been Digitally Re-mastered using Final Cut's Soundtrack Pro.
TT; 46' 30"

If someone would also like to do a cover for this Special Edition, Please do so, I know there are some talented people here that have done some cool covers for other projects on the forum.
And here it is, finally...

I have most of the RCA Victor Peter Nero LPs but two or three have eluded me so far in my never-ending search. Songs You Won't Forget is one of them.

@anonymousremains

Out of interest, why are the recordings shared here mostly in compressed/mp3 format?
All the other music collector sites that I use are quite rigorous about preserving rare/shared recordings in a lossless format, such as FLAC or SHN.

I'll take a shot at a custom cover for To Live and Die in L.A.

Just got a heads up on Martinez scores, including Wonderland, downloadable from:

Hi @ll
i'm searching these scores:
CLIFF EIDELMAN - Christopher Columbus: The Discovery
JERRY GOLDSMITH - Star Trek V: The Final Frontier

Thanks in advance.
I had enough material for about five volumes, but for once used a little self-control and limited myself to just one. Didn't want any chapped lips.

@Steven64
Thanks a lot for your release.
I'm sure i will enjoy it.
@ Scoredaddy & Dylan -
Will you guys trust me when I say that H@rkit release blew monkey chunks!

Ernest Troost "Dead Heat" (1988), LP @320:
http://rapidshare.com/files/290917181/ET-DeadHeat_LP.zip <---
Today's UBIs (Useless Bits Of Information):
#1: The lead character in Dead Heat is named Roger Mortis.
So there!
@Richard - I am sorry I did not clarify where the Master Cylinder's shop was. I took it for granted that you were aware he had his own shop. Bad move on my part.
I have your Harryhausen requests uploading now and I should be able to post the links in a couple of hours. I got a late start tonight.

@ gsw
I think I can say that, on behalf of all of us, thank you for all your hard work in putting together your new spread sheet.
It's going to make life a whole lot easier for us now.
@tripmaster
Amen.
@ tripmaster
With regards to your comments about mp3 as opposed to lossless, you took the words out of my mouth.
@ tripmaster --
Ditto on lossless v. 320. For what it's worth.
@ tripmaster
Preach it, Brother!
@gsw
@gsw
Thanks for the incredible uploads! fantastic!
And the spreadsheet!
re: the harddrive. I have the same problem. But as far as I am aware it's not possible to change the character/space limit. But I could be wrong. The files aren't corrupted as such, they just get automatically renamed.
@everyone
I totally agree that you can't hear the difference between flac and a 320 file (I'm often happy to go down to 192, though 128 is clearly substandard); I was just wondering, that's all. I hope my question didn't come across as a complaint - it really wasn't intended that way. As you can see I also uploaded at 320.
@ stereoelf
Thank you very much for the Cliff Martinez site.
@ tripmaster
I also agree with you about mp3 downloads.
@ Richard
Don't sweat it. This is a friendly place. Honest...but friendly. :)

I can only imagine that a few of our visitors and contributors will be making for the door marked "out".
How about that? Huh? :)

Saunders
@ Colonel Saunders - Let him know that his happiness made my weekend too! :)
@isbum
I will, isbum, I will.
Saunders
I'll say it again!
@gsw
Fantastic work with the spreadsheet. Many thanks!
@ Steven64

I wondered if there was a soundtrack to the 60's film - 'Some Girl's Do'

So far I have been unsuccessful!
Thanks for any help
@ anonymousremains
Here is the list:
http://www.spaceagepop.com/nero.htm
@ anonymousremains
Wow, George Malcolm sure knows his way around that harpsichord! What a technique! The only faster performance of the Bumble Bee I've heard was the late, great Ray Turner on Sparky's Magic Piano - and that was probably sped up anyway.
I'll be brief: you can't really compare Malcolm with Nero - both are top keyboardists and there's lots of room in my collection for each of them.
Many thanks!
Re: 320 vs. lossless,
I invariably post lossless files on my blog and elsewhere because that's what I archive and you can easily change lossless to a lossy format, if you choose.
Hi friends,

Sorry I didn't get to you sooner, but a thousand thanks for the rip of Metropolis. I've been waiting for someone to post that - thank you!
Lossless Vs MP3
Lossless won't go into the iPod so I prefer MP3. I guess it depends on what you want to do with the music. I don't use CD's much anymore.
A question: I gather that most people here use Windows. How come you guys use Apes and Flacs instead of .wav which you can make with Windows Media Player? That is lossless and it can be used with iPod and everybody should have it on their PC.
