Welcome to October at Franklynot. If it gets cold outside, just come in and we'll throw a log or two into the fireplace, hand you a hot cup of coco, and play some great music.
As always, enjoy the warmth of this little spot in cyberspace.
And since it is the 1st day of My favorite month, I decided to post this today...
Yesterday I left a lengthy comment on a Special Limited Edition "Custom" unreleased soundtrack. Here it is In case You missed it...
REAL GENIUS [The 25th Anniversary Remastered Edition]*
*August of 2010 will mark the 25th anniversary release of the film. I chose to do this project now out of inspiration from being on this wonderful forum and frustration as to what was originally uploaded on the net by a fan of the film. Unfortunately their version sounded like crap. So this one should make it right, "It's A Moral Imperative" & " I Aced This", but can I "Hammer a 6" Nail in the Ground with My..?"
Yes... I Can. : ))
LIMITED EDITION POST... Just like those other soundtrack companies do with limited numbered editions, the link will be deleted on Saturday. So Please, No Reposting here or distributing outside of this forum, as this is to be a gift for the members of this blog only, not the rest of the world. That's what makes it so special here.
If this OST were to have been released officially, it most likely would have been by A -&- M Records, due to the fact that a majority of these artist had records issued during this time from the label. I would imagine there could have been legal issues between record company's as well as the low box office take.
Generally 80's film soundtracks did well with the promotion of various pop artist.
On the Tech: I worked My ass off, 4 hours total, doing the clean up and conversions on Final Cut Express HD Soundtrack. All the original sound files were sourced from both LP and CD. Even though I had better K rate sources, who ever ripped the full length LP's did a piss poor job, but I did manage to bring out the best of them. They have been reformatted to 256 kbps. The original source files were anywhere from 209 VBR to 320 kbps.
Included in the file...
The Music* in film order (11 tracks @ 256)
1-"You Took Advantage of Me" performed by Carmen McRae 2-"Summertime Girls" performed by Y&T 3-"The Pleasure Seekers" performed by The System 4-"The Walls Come Down" performed by The Call 5-"I'm Falling" performed by Comsat Angels 6-"One Night Love Affair" performed by Bryan Adams 7-"All She Wants to Do Is Dance", performed by Don Henley 8-"Number One" performed by Chaz Jankel 9-"You're the Only Love" performed by Paul Hyde and the Payolas 10-"Standing in Line" performed by The Textones 11-"Everybody Wants to Rule the World" performed by Tears for Fears
The Soundtrack Covers (3) The Artist Covers (11) Lyrics Embeded for iPod / iTouch
*The only track missing and NOT available; TONIO K - The Tough Do What? This would have been track No. 2, if it were to be had.
NOTE: If there is somebody, especially those who may know someone in music industry that can obtain this rare song, PLEASE by all means post it here, so I can amend it to the album.
I thought about asking someone here to design some new cover artwork. If the interest is sparked to be creative, Please let Me know.
And Now Here It Is...
REAL GENIUS [The 25th Anniversary Remastered Edition]
Theme to series 1 & 2 of Veronica Mars TV series, if anyone could please. Theme to series 3 is a remix of the above, & to be honest, it sounds bloody awful, the original is best.
I was thinking about another classic 80's film, To Live And Die In L.A. The original soundtrack was performed by Wang Chung. The was a lot of other music heard in the films soundtrack, but not included on the official album. The film was released in theaters back in '85, so I was thinking about doing a special project here similar to what I did with Real Genius, as far as an Anniversary Edition goes.
Maybe You and a few others that could possibly contribute in some way, whether it be artwork or music. It could be a New FranklyYes Project, just a thought.
Here is the list that I found on Wikipedia of the artists and song titles featured in the film...
Junior Wells Song ( Laudy! Laudy! ) Junior Wells Song Performer ( Good Morning School Girl ) Tony Kinman songs ("The Conductor Wore Black" "Coyote" "Rank and File") Chip Kinman songs ("The Conductor Wore Black" "Coyote") Alejandro Escovedo Song ("Rank and File") Rank and File Song Performer ( Rank and File ) Otis Rush (II) Song Otis Rush (II) Song Performer ("Cold Day in Hell") Samual Maghett Song ("Lookin' Good") Magic Sam Song Performer ( Lookin Good ) Linton Kwesi Johnson Song Linton Kwesi Johnson Song Performer ("Independent Intavenshan") F. AM-FM Song Performer ( L.A., L.A. ) The Blasters Song Performer ( Red Rose )
I'll be doing google searches as well, but maybe someone here might have these.
-The FSM edition of "The Egyptian" (Newman/Herrmann)
-Silva's "Warriors of the Silver Screen" -compilation
-The re-recording of Rozsa's "Julius Caesar" (Is this worth having if one already has the FSM edition?)
-The other, less known LP release of "Ten Commandments" (Elmer Bernstein). By this I mean the one with ten tracks spread on two sides.
-The 16-track re-recording of "The Robe" (Alfred Newman)
Still searching for these: (previously made requests)
- The Decca edition of "Ben-Hur" in a good bitrate. - The Varese edition of "The Blue Max" (Jerry Goldsmith) - The original 14-track release of "The Alamo" (Dimitri Tiomkin) - The two "Bond Back In Action" -albums. - Constantino Il Grande/Giuseppe Venduto Dai Fratelli (Mario Nascimbene). - The missing "End of Act One" -music from the 3-CD bootleg of Spartacus (Should be the final track on disc one)
This isbum-clone was the funniest thing :) M@n! He/She knows this business √e®y we££. I leeched his/her stuff twice and then threw up. Bad blood :( I wonder what does it m@ke people like "C@rr¡e" so µpset?

Do you happen to know what the password is for that "Ten Commandments" RAR-file?
That Ben-Hur link is in 128 kbps, by the way. (Funnily enough, that just happens to be the link from which I originally downloaded it from). The sound is not terrible or anything, but it would be nice to have it in say, 192-320 kbps.
In the past few months, I've been playing around with DVD rips of film scores that unfortunatly have had no official release. My favorite composer is Bernard Herrmann, and so in listening to some of his unreleased scores, I was so moved by them I decided to do these DVD Rips. Enjoy.
Hangover Square (BOOTLEG / DVD RIP)
Since this score has had no official release other than two rerecordings of the Concerto Macabre, a great chunk of the music Herrmann wrote has gone unheard, except for the (possible) bootleg compilation entitled The Marvelous Film Music of Bernard Herrmann. Using the DVD of the film, and comparing the music heard to that in the Marvelous cd, I was able to put in order the cues as heard, plus rip the music from the DVD when it was not available. Unfortunately, the recent 20th Century Fox DVD of Hangover Square does not include an isolated score track like their DVDs of Jane Eyre and Garden of Evil, which leads me to believe Fox only includes isolated score tracks for soundtracks that have already received commercial releases. That aside, this bootleg is far from perfect, but with a mixture of the Marvelous cd and taking the music directly from the film itself (these tracks often include sfx and some dialogue--one cue in particular, one of the most beautiful in the film, has wall-to-wall dialogue), one can get a sense of how truly beautiful this Herrmann score is.
Like the situation with Hangover Square, The Bride Wore Black has never been released in complete form. Elmer Bernstein recorded a suite in the early 90s, and there has been a LP, which was recently transferred to cd and released commercially, but that only contained four pieces from the film. Using these two sources, but mostly the MGM DVD release, I took all the cues from the film and placed them in sequential order, using Herrmann's original cue titles, provided by this website and the terrific score rundowns: http://www.filmscorerundowns.net/herrmann/index.html If you read the intro the Bride Wore Black rundown, you'll find that director Francois Truffaut edited or removed roughly 40%-45% of Herrmann's music, including a notorious piece called the scarf. Truffaut preferred a Vivaldi record because the score Herrmann wrote for that scene was too somber. The documentary, Music for the Movies: Bernard Herrmann, played the cue, and ripping that segment of the film, I was able to reconstruct the cue as Herrmann wrote it. I used Bernstein's rerecording (very few parts of the suite were verbatim taken from the score) and the LP and the rest came from the DVD. Unfortunately and especially concerning the last seven or eight cues, there was so much dialogue that only segments were worth saving. Since this was my first DVD rip of this kind, I didn't rip the music/dialogue/sfx and I honestly don't feel like going back and doing so since it's a lot of work. So, enjoy!
I made this using two different sources: the suite available on the Bernard Herrmann at Fox disc, and the (possible) bootleg disc, The Marvelous Film Music of Bernard Herrmann. Comparing the suite with the four tracks from the Marvelous cd, I arranged them in this particular order hoping they are chronological. Unfortunately, I do not know Herrmann's own titles for any of the pieces from the score, and having never seen the film, I used a basic naming convention.
I created this in the same way I did A Hatful of Rain, though on the Bernard Herrmann at Fox cd, King of the Khyber Rifles is presented in individual cues. There are only three different cues offered on the Marvelous cd: one is obviously the Finale (obvious if one knows Herrmann's work). Another cue was rerecorded by Charles Gerhardt. The third (which, according to the order on the Marvelous cd, is the first of the different cues) I do not know the title, so I labeled it "Unknown Cue Title." It's a good score, but certainly not one of Herrmann's most important, though the prelude is very good.
I uploaded these DVD rips several months ago, but the sound quality of these new rips is greatly improved. There was a lot of unnecessary hiss behind the previous uploads, and the quality of these are, in my opinion, far superior. If you've downloaded DVD rips of the complete scores to these two films from any site, chances are these new links will be a lot better.
The same description applies for this new upload, only I cannot remember if I uploaded my previous rip or not, so if I have, these sound a lot better, too.
These next two links are widely available bootlegs or possible legit releases of Herrmann's original recordings. I know there is some thought that Tsunami releases are legal in Germany, but really who cares as long as we can hear this terrific music. The problem with both cds is that there are several cues per audio track. In fact, the Tsunami Marnie cd has them out of order. Again, using the score rundowns found here: http://www.filmscorerundowns.net/herrmann/index.html I was able to identify each cue and give them Herrmann's own cue titles. Interestingly enough, even though the cover of the Tsunami Marnie cd states it is the complete score, it is not. Several cues are missing, but luckily, many though not all of the missing cues were rerecorded by Joel McNeely, which itself is not complete. Actually, the Tsunami cd offers more cues than the McNeely rerecording, plus these are Herrmann's originals, and even though I very much enjoy McNeely's rerecordings, Herrmann's are preferable.
I took this from the terrific Warner DVD, which included an isolated score track that actually sounds far superior to the Rhino cd from 1999. This is, next to McNeely's brilliant rerecording, the best sounding version of this Herrmann/Hitchcock collaboration.
The next two DVD rips are not from Herrmann. They are actually the original scores written and performed for the world premiere of some of the greatest silent films of all time:
I ripped this from the Kino DVD that's been circulating for a couple years now. Though now that the complete film has been discovered and once the restoration is complete, there will be a brand new recording of the score which will be available in the eventual Kino Blu-ray and DVD (I really can't wait to see this milestone complete).
That's all for now. I'm working on more DVD rips, including Herrmann's scores for the Twilight Zone (now that I'm discovered a new way of ripped the audio, these are worth doing) and his score for Brian De Palma's Obsession. Thankfully, the DVD (which for some reason is very rare) includes a 5.1 audio mix, which makes the dialogue and sfx easy to remove, though it won't be perfect; it will simply be another sub par option if you want to hear this brilliant work until an official and complete release is made available (hopefully Herrmann's originals since the location of the recording and how he mic-ed the choir, getting their echoes rather than their direct vocals, makes Herrmann's originals very unique).
I have in my soundtrack folder on my HDD, a Six Million Dollar Man 2 CD soundtrack that seems to be a rip from an episode or 2 of the programe, and CD2 features variations of the main theme.
Does anyone have the actual Track Listing and any CD sleeves.
Here's Jackson's UPHILL CLIMB, not my rip. It seems to come from an LP, but surface noise is minimal. It's also 192. If I find anything better, I'll upload it as well.
@ Southview212 - Thanks for the Tamarind Seed! I tried fixing the one I had, but the track times weren't matching up with the boot listed at Soundtrack Collector.
People¡¡ You are simply fabulous¡¡ Many thanks to the people who upload my requests: Andreas, Southview2 and the other man that I don't remember now
Southview, you must be a very kind and good person, for your commentaries and attitude to the others. Thank you for being here and for being as you are¡
And now, I have a little bunch of requests: (at 320kb if it is possible)
* THE BLUEE LAGOON (B.Poledouris) at 320kb, a masterpiece
* THE AMYTIVILLE HORROR (Lalo Schifrin) at 320kb, LP, Anotehr masterpiece
But I want the music that was at the LP (30 minutes I think) and not the music from the more recent cd with more music but a poor sound
* CASANOVA (ALEXANDER DESPLAT),at 320kb
The regular release or the promo with more music (a friend tell me that there is a promo)
*OLD GRINGO (Lee Holdridge) at 320kb, another masterpiece
And a question, what is the meaning of LOSSLESS/FLAC? There are some requests that are downloaded in Lossless/Flac at this blog, it is the same sound of 320kb? It is a better sound Lossless/Flac? Soemone can explain me this?
Thank you very much to Filmpac, Isbum and all the others and Southview , you are a champion¡
Alex
P.D: A last question, I bought to Varese, the North and South De Luxe Edition of 4 cds (very good buy) but I want to know if I must buy the 3 additional cds from North and South part 2 (It seems for me that it's the same music or variations from the music fron the first bunch of cd's, What you have to say?
And anotehr final question to Isbum, what is best of the soundtrack to Elizabeth and Essex by Korngold? The newly recorded score by Carl Davis or the Suite by Charles Gerhardt? Which is the best of the two versions?
@ gsw - My mail too! I click on new mail and a blue box pops up that says "Loading..." with spinning dial. I've never had to wait at all to see what's in my IN box.
Rapidshare is hinky tonight too. 35MB upload wanted me to wait 654,788 minuets! Oh, I didn't wait very long...it cut me off after a minuet and a half.
I'm turning this crazy thing off. Goodnight everybody! :)
@Rebecca - See if this fits your bill. Not my rip. Thanks to the original uploader. Last of the Dogmen (14@320) http://www.megaupload.com/?d=CCEP1ANO
@indigoblue - Thank you for The Cure. Could you upload tracks 7,15 & 18 again? They are corrupt and when extracted you get 0kb file size. All the others are OK.
I have : ESPER_Definitive_Collector_Edition 4 CDs @VBR (from 284 to 143) & ESPER_Edition 2 CDs @ vbr (276 to 234) No my rips, so I can't guaratee autenticity and quality ;)
If they are good enough for you let me know to post them. Good luck :)
This concert is absolutely remarkable. The score choices are really great. This is a MUST download. This is the complete concert, start to last encore + interview. @VBR mp3.

@WriterDirectorCollector: What a great job and an amazing job you've done on "Real Genius"! I taped it on VHS off of cable way back when and recently got the DVD for two reasons. One, I love the movie (chock-a-block classic one-liners) and two, I've been looking for Chaz Jankel's "Number One" ever since I first saw the film. (I almost spit a mouthful of coffee at my computer monitor when I saw that it was 13.6 MB!) Thank you very, very much. Looking forward to "To Live and Die..." too.
@ Alex dang piped at the post bravo Stereoelf Amityville Horror @ 320 covers inc. http://rapidshare.com/files/287881942/AmityvilleHorror1979Schifrin__LP_.rar
@ indigoblue - The Cure is indeed afflicted by the Mac-Win filename thingy. Now, normally this will extract using WinRar, which gives a warning and strips out the offending characters. Not so this time. You need to open the archive using WinRar, rename the three tracks (which include a ":" symbol, a deadset no-no on a PC) and extract manually from within WinRar. Or just download this: The Cure 7,15,18 Cured <---
@ anonymousremains - Don't feel so bad, if your Amityville does indeed contain cover scans of the original LP, you are hereby awarded official hero status :))
Info: It was the idea of Bruno Lawrence to get together a group of musicians, actors and friends who would travel around New Zealand on a tour to get away from the pressure of the music and movie scene. He organised the traveling group and in October 1971 they departed on their tour. The group travelled around New Zealand in a very distinctive red bus.
Thanks to both Stereoelf & AnonymousReamains for killer Amityville rips. Yep, legend status goes to Anonymous for the LP scans too. Filmpac very happy camper, that was #2 on my vinyl scans wishlist :))
In appreciation, here is the premiere posting of a stompin' good crime jazz score. Found on p2p, huge thanks to the original ripper and sharer...
And if that doesn't float yer boat enough, re-posts of a couple of other stompin' good crime scores. Previously posted but might be appreciated by newcomers...
@ all - I had a sneak preview of the disc posted by Isbum above, and its a great soundtrack album by a band nobody knows. Songs, yes, but a great bunch of songs from an early 70s Kiwi band. Stompin' good stuff!
Request: Gotta mention, here's #1 and #3 on my LP scans wishlist: Barbarella Billy Jack
@indigoblue - Thank you for re-upping those 3 tracks. I didn't even think about or see the "no no" characters and I even went into WinRar and tried to extract them but still got 0kbs files. It didn't dawn on me until I read your re-up post and filmpac's. I still had my original download file and went in an renamed and extracted. If I had noticed the "no no" characters to begin with I could have saved you a lot of trouble. I am sorry.
@Joseph - Being a Herrmann junkie I thank you very much for your posts and the time and effort you put into the rips.
@writerdirectorcollector - Thank you for Real Genius.
I have no idea if this is the artwork you desire, but as it was just sitting here on my hard drive, I figured it was worth offering it. The scans are a bit low rez. But again... what the heck.
Yes, definitely a great idea. "L.A." is one of my absolute favorites from the 80's, it was my introduction to Friedkin as a filmmaker, and it still holds up in a way that many more flashy pseudo-gritty cop movies don't.
I was in high school when it came out and even wrote a parody for my media communications final about counterfeit hall passes being investigated by rogue hall monitors called "To Live and Die in Foxfield High." :D
@ joona - As requested, "Warriors of the Silver Screen", as performed by the CityOfPragueOrch. This, in my opinion, is one of the best compilations they recorded. It's two CD's @320.....
Here are a few standards I thought some may be in need of. Both are cd rips at 320. Enjoy!!
Secret of Nimh(V@re$e) - Jerry Goldsmith http://www.megaupload.com/?d=2ZAZR8J6

I've created my own custom cover art for the Barbarella soundtrack after my frustrating search for good quality LP cover scans of the original. Thought I'd share with you all if you guys were interested.
The new V@rese remaster of the Children Of The Corn has sold out before shipping. Hopefully that will appear through someone's generosity as an SNS in the future. If you don't have the original here it is with the sequels:

This one's for Dentist71, who requested it in the art department. Of course, it's for anyone else who sadly never got this: Ben-Hur, 1991 2-CD Sony Music Special Products release in FLAC. Someone else had previously posted the artwork in the art dept, so here's the music!!!
@ all: I have also posted 5 discs worth of music (!) from the Lost In Space TV series at the Sci-Fi Planetarium and a rare film score & a concert work by Tan Dun at Asian Cinema Scores.
I'm in the middle of a Bernard Herrmann binge and I realised that I don't have the original soundtracks for either Fahrenheit 451 or Vertigo (though I do have the McNeely version I think).
I'm sure they've been posted here before but I can't find them! Anyone know which cupboard they're hiding in (preferably at a hi-bitrate)?
Jeffrey Scott Arnold - I'm looking for the original soundtrack conducted by Herrmann himself. I've seen a CD around by a label called Tsunami. No idea if this is a legitimate release or not.
@dear American branch Leigh Harline! WANTED FOR MIRTHTER!!
Anyone done or willing to do a rip from the Walt Disney Treasures - Silly Symphonies & More Silly Symphonies DVD's? - because i would knaw your arm off to get 'em ( us poor Brits are so not Region 1) It'd be the perfect xmas thing too

Thanks for your incredibly tediuous and well compiled Bernard Herrmann contributions. I like most others notonly love his work, but wish to convey my admiration for your generous contribution.
@southview212
Great Bruce Rowland posts, especially "All The Rivers Run" made my day as a Rowland fan. As always your work is seriously meticulous. You always make others know that your name equates to a"real treat".
@ anonymousremains

Add ".rar" onto the end. After downloading, I tried unpacking it and it didn't like the length of the filename, so I tried just renaming it to "Who.rar". Did the trick.
Thanks for the heads up on that Walt Disney Gold Box Special, as I couldn't pass up a deal like that! I have just now ordered it. This will be a nice addition to what I have in My collection, like A Musical History of Disneyland [BOX SET] & Walt Disney Takes You to Disneyland CD.
Cheers! \ ( - _ - ) /

REAL GENIUS [The 25th Anniversary Remastered Edition] has now been deleted. I left it up a few extra days so everyone could get a fair shot at it.
This week I will be working on the To Live And Die In L.A. [Special Edition]
I still need the following...
> AM - FM (featuring Jeff Leiber) - "L.A. L.A.". I have serious doubt that this one can be had, but stranger things have happend. [best possible Please!]
> The Blasters - "Red Rose" from the album 'Non Fiction' (1983) [192 or higher Please!]
@ bistis6
Thanks Again for the contributions to the project!
@ riddim1903 & Jean - More Bruce Rowland scores (he is my favorite Australian composer) -
"The Snowy River Arena Spectacular", originally shared by either Filmpac or isbum, many moons ago. This is the music to the rousing live performance based on the movie. It contains an extended version of "Jessica's Theme", @320. No offical artwork, but a tracklist is included.... http://rapidshare.com/files/289120950/TheSnowyRiverArenaSpectacular_BR_VA.rar
"Anzacs", shared by Filmpac, some time ago. My copy was found in a cut-out bin and I think it's a composer promo. Artwork consists of a front card and a jewel case back, @320..... http://rapidshare.com/files/289104485/Anzacs_BR_VA.rar

@ southview - I can't take credit for the Snowy River Arena spectacular, it came about as a result of one of those lucky Frankly coincidences, when I posted the original albums. Thanks go to that original poster, whose name sadly escapes me now. Many thanks for the other Rowlands :)
@ wdc - Hats off for Real Genius, sounding great!
@ anonymousremains - Stanley Black Film Spectacular Vol II can be found on that Phase 4 blog. Thanks mate for the Rosenman album, super :)
@Southview212 & Filmpac cheers for the Phase 4 nods - like the best charity shop cardboard box ever!!
i snaffled the Spectacular vol 2 from that site which is the remastered CD. It's in a different order from the Lp, so i'll throw the vinyl on the Platter in the next day or two - now has anyone got "film Spectacular" vols 4-6 lurking
Speaking of Stanley Black, here's a bit of a mystery that needs solving. i've got a link for a 2004 reissue of a 1963 'album' ,don't know if it was even released at the time, called 'The Jewish Twists of Soloman Schwartz'. This was Black's original name and some Russian thread had put him and this record together. It's a hi-energy Klezmer/twist hybrid that has proved a good backing for Strong coffee consumption and vigorous house cleaning. More snooping came up with a vague referance to Wally Bergman who, another site said, was quite big in London and America at that time and had made a Jewish Twist album that Stanley Black had taken the credit for, but said no more than that. Then back at the Russian thread a group called 'The Temples' was mentioned in connection. Phew!thats all i can find, but i'm intrigued here it is http://rapidshare.com/files/5971938/Solomon_Schwartz-Jewish_Twists_of_-_2004.rar
just made this rip Maurice Jarre - Crossed Swords LP @ 320 with covers http://rapidshare.com/files/289187797/CrossedSwordsLP1978Jarre.rar
@Alchemist you are so right about the necessity for double posting - just as an experiment i've had a few things down at the Classical Chapel of Rest ,but apart from blowing the dust off 'em myself in 90 days they'll not be long for this world at that rate. so here's a few LP things that deserve your attention folks
Elgar's 2nd Symphony performed in 1944 by Adrian Boult I can hear Herrmann in the great scherzo http://rapidshare.com/files/286994870/Elgar-SymphNo.2Boult1944EMI.rar

Could you please re post the link about John Williams "the eager sanction" because I would like to download it this morning (french hour) because it is more quickly but it has already download 10 times (by somebody else I suppose), so I couldn't download it myself !!!!
Further to my request for the OST of Fahrenheit 451 conducted by Herrmann (which I can't seem to find anywhere!) I'm now on the look out for the Stromberg complete score version of the film.
I see that Stromberg had done a lot of soundtrack recordings - what are they like? I don't know much about him...
Hi Dear Friends. I upload a new compilation about films filmed in Mexico. Es la mejor recopilación Compadre. I hope that yoy like this compilation.

Hi dear Friends. IT´S VERY IMPORTANT. Please I have got a problem with the computer and I lost anyone soundtracks such as:
SCARAMOUCHE (FSM) - VICTOR YOUNG. This score is posted in vagos.fm but I have very bad sound (192 kbps) and the tracks 13 (Trap Door) and 23 (Chase) contains noises and distorsions. Please, can anyone upload the score to 320 kbps and vey good sound. THE INVITATION / A LIFE OF HER OWN (FSM) - BRONILSAU KAPER HOME FROM THE HILL (FSM) - BRONISLAU KAPER
Sorry, for the inconvenience. I hope that anyone help me. Many, many, many thanks.
@filmpac Many thanks dear friend, always been grateful by this improvement. It´s a pleasure you help.
@Richard - I have 2 recording of Herrmann conducting Fahrenheit 451 (Tsunami & Soundstage) plus a suite he recorded for London Phase 4 Records. Would you like these? I can post them for you this week.
Also I have the F@M edition of The Egyptian and the Varese edition of The Egyptian conducted by Alfred Newman. You interested? It is a gorgeous score.
I'd love the hear them, thanks! Which is the most complete with the best sound? I think that I might have the suite though (about 10 or 11 mins long?) http://custummadealbums.blogspot.com/2009/01/bernard-herrmann-suite-volume-9.html
Grateful thanks for the Who (guilty thanks, perhaps, as it should have been a 'weekend job'!). Despite myself, some of this music still brings up the goosebumps remembering my cinema trips to see these as a kid! Marvellous stuff.
Hi All: I don't know where I saw a posting for it but doesn anyone have access to the soundtrack to " A Slipping-Down Life) with Guy Pearce singing (it's the Anne Tyler adaptation). Also: does anyone have access to Alberto Iglesias non-OST work, particularly A registered Patent (2001)?
I'm having a similar problem with the Doctor Who link. I renamed it "who.rar" but it still won't unpack. If you can suggest anything else I can do, then I will indeed have cause to cry not "who.rar" but "hoorah!"
@ Southview212 - You must call the name "budarc" three times and he will appear with his self-made compilation of Danny Elfman's music titled "Music for a Darkened..Vol.3".
If that doesn't work, perhaps you will have gotten the attention of someone else who has it. ;)

happy october to all!!
Hi all,
@ Colonel Saunders
I will upload for you "Night Games"...
See you later!..
Enjoy!
Happy Autumn friends! (Well, here anyway).
Happy Oktober to All,
And since it is the 1st day of My favorite month, I decided to post this today...
On the Tech:
I worked My ass off, 4 hours total, doing the clean up and conversions on Final Cut Express HD Soundtrack.
1-"You Took Advantage of Me" performed by Carmen McRae
2-"Summertime Girls" performed by Y&T
3-"The Pleasure Seekers" performed by The System
4-"The Walls Come Down" performed by The Call
5-"I'm Falling" performed by Comsat Angels
6-"One Night Love Affair" performed by Bryan Adams
7-"All She Wants to Do Is Dance", performed by Don Henley
8-"Number One" performed by Chaz Jankel
9-"You're the Only Love" performed by Paul Hyde and the Payolas
10-"Standing in Line" performed by The Textones
11-"Everybody Wants to Rule the World" performed by Tears for Fears
The Soundtrack Covers (3)
The Artist Covers (11)
Lyrics Embeded for iPod / iTouch
*The only track missing and NOT available;
TONIO K - The Tough Do What?
This would have been track No. 2, if it were to be had.
NOTE:
If there is somebody, especially those who may know someone in music industry that can obtain this rare song, PLEASE by all means post it here, so I can amend it to the album.
I thought about asking someone here to design some new cover artwork. If the interest is sparked to be creative, Please let Me know.
And Now Here It Is...

Laudy! )
Junior Wells Song Performer ( Good Morning School Girl )
Tony Kinman songs ("The Conductor Wore Black" "Coyote" "Rank and File")
Chip Kinman songs ("The Conductor Wore Black" "Coyote")
Alejandro Escovedo Song ("Rank and File")
Rank and File Song Performer ( Rank and File )
Otis Rush (II) Song
Otis Rush (II) Song Performer ("Cold Day in Hell")
Samual Maghett Song ("Lookin' Good")
Magic Sam Song Performer ( Lookin Good )
Linton Kwesi Johnson Song
Linton Kwesi Johnson Song Performer ("Independent Intavenshan")
F. Envil Song ("Uphill Climb to the Bottom")
Walter Jackson Song Performer ("Uphill Climb to the Bottom")
Jerry Leiber (II) Song ("L.A., L.A.")
Jed Leiber (II) Song ("L.A., L.A.")
AM-FM Song Performer ( L.A., L.A. )
The Blasters Song Performer ( Red Rose )
I'll be doing google searches as well, but maybe someone here might have these.
Thanks!
New requests:
-The Green Berets (Miklos Rozsa)
-David and Bathsheba (Alfred Newman)
-The FSM edition of "The Egyptian" (Newman/Herrmann)
-Silva's "Warriors of the Silver Screen" -compilation
-The re-recording of Rozsa's "Julius Caesar"
(Is this worth having if one already has the FSM edition?)
-The other, less known LP release of "Ten Commandments" (Elmer Bernstein). By this I mean the one with ten tracks spread on two sides.
-The 16-track re-recording of "The Robe" (Alfred Newman)
Still searching for these:
(previously made requests)
- The Decca edition of "Ben-Hur" in a good bitrate.
- The Varese edition of "The Blue Max" (Jerry Goldsmith)
- The original 14-track release of "The Alamo" (Dimitri Tiomkin)
- The two "Bond Back In Action" -albums.
- Constantino Il Grande/Giuseppe Venduto Dai Fratelli (Mario Nascimbene).
- The missing "End of Act One" -music from the 3-CD bootleg of Spartacus (Should be the final track on disc one)

To Live and Die in L.A. [Special Bonus Disc]
I have located some of the albums, but I still need the following to complete this project...
> Linton Kwesi Johnson - "Independent Intavenshan" from the album 'Forces of Nature' (1979), it can also be found on the the 1998 'Island Anthology'.
> The Blasters - "Red Rose" from the album 'Non Fiction' (1983)

I have serious doubt that this one can be had, but stranger things have happend.
Any help would be appreciated, Thanks.

I can get you 'David and Bathsheba' after work today.
@ fdfdfdfd
Do you happen to know what the password is for that "Ten Commandments" RAR-file?
That Ben-Hur link is in 128 kbps, by the way. (Funnily enough, that just happens to be the link from which I originally downloaded it from). The sound is not terrible or anything, but it would be nice to have it in say, 192-320 kbps.
Thanks for the re-recorded version of The Robe.

Thank you very much for the Bond-music. Now I'm only still missing the 15-track version of G0ldfinger. Could you help me with this one?

Hello everyone,
In the past few months, I've been playing around with DVD rips of film scores that unfortunatly have had no official release. My favorite composer is Bernard Herrmann, and so in listening to some of his unreleased scores, I was so moved by them I decided to do these DVD Rips. Enjoy.
Hangover Square
(BOOTLEG / DVD RIP)
That aside, this bootleg is far from perfect, but with a mixture of the Marvelous cd and taking the music directly from the film itself (these tracks often include sfx and some dialogue--one cue in particular, one of the most beautiful in the film, has wall-to-wall dialogue), one can get a sense of how truly beautiful this Herrmann score is.
http://rapidshare.com/files/280212260/Herrmann_Bernard_-_Hangover_Square_DVD_Bootleg.rar
The Bride Wore Black
(BOOTLEG / DVD RIP)
Like the situation with Hangover Square, The Bride Wore Black has never been released in complete form. Elmer Bernstein recorded a suite in the early 90s, and there has been a LP, which was recently transferred to cd and released commercially, but that only contained four pieces from the film. Using these two sources, but mostly the MGM DVD release, I took all the cues from the film and placed them in sequential order, using Herrmann's original cue titles, provided by this website and the terrific score rundowns:
http://www.filmscorerundowns.net/herrmann/index.html
If you read the intro the Bride Wore Black rundown, you'll find that director Francois Truffaut edited or removed roughly 40%-45% of Herrmann's music, including a notorious piece called the scarf. So, enjoy!
http://rapidshare.com/files/280214358/Herrmann_Bernard_-_Bride_Wore_Black_DVD_Bootleg.rar
A Hatful of Rain
(BOOTLEG COMPILATION)
I made this using two different sources: the suite available on the Bernard Herrmann at Fox disc, and the (possible) bootleg disc, The Marvelous Film Music of Bernard Herrmann. Comparing the suite with the four tracks from the Marvelous cd, I arranged them in this particular order hoping they are chronological. Unfortunately, I do not know Herrmann's own titles for any of the pieces from the score, and having never seen the film, I used a basic naming convention.
http://rapidshare.com/files/280199120/Herrmann_Bernard_-_Hatful_of_Rain_Bootleg.rar
King of the Khyber Rifles
(BOOTLEG COMPILATION)
I created this in the same way I did A Hatful of Rain, though on the Bernard Herrmann at Fox cd, King of the Khyber Rifles is presented in individual cues. There are only three different cues offered on the Marvelous cd: one is obviously the Finale (obvious if one knows Herrmann's work). Another cue was rerecorded by Charles Gerhardt. The third (which, according to the order on the Marvelous cd, is the first of the different cues) I do not know the title, so I labeled it "Unknown Cue Title." It's a good score, but certainly not one of Herrmann's most important, though the prelude is very good.
http://rapidshare.com/files/280202916/Herrmann_Bernard_-_King_of_the_Khyber_Rifles_Bootleg.rar
Jane Eyre & Garden of Evil
(DVD RIPS)
I uploaded these DVD rips several months ago, but the sound quality of these new rips is greatly improved. There was a lot of unnecessary hiss behind the previous uploads, and the quality of these are, in my opinion, far superior. If you've downloaded DVD rips of the complete scores to these two films from any site, chances are these new links will be a lot better.
http://rapidshare.com/files/280202046/Herrmann_Bernard_-_Jane_Eyre_DVD_Rip.rar
http://rapidshare.com/files/280220489/Herrmann_Bernard_-_Garden_of_Evil_DVD_Rip.rar
The Day the Earth Stood Still
(DVD RIP)
The same description applies for this new upload, only I cannot remember if I uploaded my previous rip or not, so if I have, these sound a lot better, too.
http://rapidshare.com/files/280217714/Herrmann_Bernard_-_Day_the_Earth_Stood_Still_DVD_Rip.rar
Cape Fear & Marnie
These next two links are widely available bootlegs or possible legit releases of Herrmann's original recordings. I know there is some thought that Tsunami releases are legal in Germany, but really who cares as long as we can hear this terrific music. The problem with both cds is that there are several cues per audio track. In fact, the Tsunami Marnie cd has them out of order. Again, using the score rundowns found here:
http://www.filmscorerundowns.net/herrmann/index.html
I was able to identify each cue and give them Herrmann's own cue titles. Interestingly enough, even though the cover of the Tsunami Marnie cd states it is the complete score, it is not. Several cues are missing, but luckily, many though not all of the missing cues were rerecorded by Joel McNeely, which itself is not complete. Actually, the Tsunami cd offers more cues than the McNeely rerecording, plus these are Herrmann's originals, and even though I very much enjoy McNeely's rerecordings, Herrmann's are preferable.
http://rapidshare.com/files/280208398/Herrmann_Bernard_-_Marnie_Tsunami_Individual_Cues.rar
http://rapidshare.com/files/280216278/Herrmann_Bernard_-_Cape_Fear_1962_Bootleg_Split_Cues.rar
North by Northwest
(DVD RIP)
I took this from the terrific Warner DVD, which included an isolated score track that actually sounds far superior to the Rhino cd from 1999. This is, next to McNeely's brilliant rerecording, the best sounding version of this Herrmann/Hitchcock collaboration.
http://rapidshare.com/files/280206139/Herrmann_Bernard_-_North_by_Northwest_DVD_Rip.rar
The next two DVD rips are not from Herrmann. They are actually the original scores written and performed for the world premiere of some of the greatest silent films of all time:
Nosferatu (1922) by Hans Erdmann
I ripped this from the 2 disc Kino DVD.
http://rapidshare.com/files/280225333/Erdmann_Hans_Nosferatu_1922_DVD_Rip_Tracks_1-20.rar
http://rapidshare.com/files/280226999/Erdmann_Hans_Nosferatu_1922_DVD_Rip_Tracks_21-30.rar
Metropolis (1927) by Gottfried Huppertz
I ripped this from the Kino DVD that's been circulating for a couple years now. Though now that the complete film has been discovered and once the restoration is complete, there will be a brand new recording of the score which will be available in the eventual Kino Blu-ray and DVD (I really can't wait to see this milestone complete).
http://rapidshare.com/files/280229281/Huppertz_Gottfried_Metropolis_1927_DVD_Rip_CD_1.rar
http://rapidshare.com/files/280232141/Huppertz_Gottfried_Metropolis_1927_DVD_Rip_CD_2.rar
Enjoy (and sorry for several long posts).

Hi all,
Does anyone have Clash of the Titans by Laurence Rosenthal?
I'm also after any other Ray Harryhausen movie soundtracks, apart from The 7th Voyage of Sinbad and Mysterious Island.

Not my share, so thanks to the original uploader.
People¡¡ You are simply fabulous¡¡
Many thanks to the people who upload my requests: Andreas, Southview2 and the other man that I don't remember now
Southview, you must be a very kind and good person, for your commentaries and attitude to the others. Thank you for being here and for being as you are¡
And now, I have a little bunch of requests: (at 320kb if it is possible)
* THE BLUEE LAGOON (B.Poledouris) at 320kb, a masterpiece
* THE AMYTIVILLE HORROR (Lalo Schifrin) at 320kb, LP, Anotehr masterpiece
But I want the music that was at the LP (30 minutes I think) and not the music from the more recent cd with more music but a poor sound
* CASANOVA (ALEXANDER DESPLAT),at 320kb
Thankl you very much¡
@benbridges
thanks so much! And so fast! What a great place to visit this is!

@WriterDirectorCollector:
What a great job and an amazing job you've done on "Real Genius"!
Happy October, everybody!

Or just download this:
The Cure 7,15,18 Cured <---

By

http://rapidshare.com/files/287181077/Blerta_TheReturnTrip.zip
Info:
It was the idea of Bruno Lawrence to get together a group of musicians, actors and friends who would travel around New Zealand on a tour to get away from the pressure of the music and movie scene. He organised the traveling group and in October 1971 they departed on their tour. The group travelled around New Zealand in a very distinctive red bus.

May it be perfect on Win.
I am sorry.

re: "To Live & Die in L.A."

Hi there,
I'm in the middle of a Bernard Herrmann binge and I realised that I don't have the original soundtracks for either Fahrenheit 451 or Vertigo (though I do have the McNeely version I think).
I'm sure they've been posted here before but I can't find them! Anyone know which cupboard they're hiding in (preferably at a hi-bitrate)?

Richard-
Are you looking for the recent Tribute Classics release of Fahrenheit 451 from Stromberg/Morgan?

@southview212
Great Bruce Rowland posts, especially "All The Rivers Run" made my day as a Rowland fan. As always your work is seriously meticulous. You always make others know that your name equates to a"real treat".
@ anonymousremains
Wonderful thought to share those great Stanley Black albums here.
Thanks very much
@ riddim1903 -
Thanks for the kind words.
Stay tuned, I have a few more Rowland scores to share.

@Parzival,
has Boogiepop already invited you?
@Goldiemusic
This seems to work with the Dr.Who file.
Add ".rar" onto the end. After downloading, I tried unpacking it and it didn't like the length of the filename, so I tried just renaming it to "Who.rar". Did the trick.

@Southview212 & Filmpac

i snaffled the Spectacular vol 2 from that site which
is the remastered CD.
It's in a different order from the Lp, so i'll throw the vinyl on the Platter in the next day or two -
now has anyone
got "film Spectacular" vols 4-6 lurking
Phew!thats all i can find, but i'm intrigued
here it is

request... anyone have alexandre desplat coco avant chanel?
Further to my request for the OST of Fahrenheit 451 conducted by Herrmann (which I can't seem to find anywhere!) I'm now on the look out for the Stromberg complete score version of the film.
I see that Stromberg had done a lot of soundtrack recordings - what are they like? I don't know much about him...
best

@filmpac
Many thanks dear friend, always been grateful by this improvement. It´s a pleasure you help.
@Richard- in short, they are terrific. Are you interested in the Stromberg version now (I couldn't find the one you're looking for either)?
Unrelated, here's something that everyone might have, but still it's a classic that everyone needs:
Jaws: 20th Anniversary Edition from Decca:

@Jeffrey Scott Arnold .
Yes, I'd love to hear the Stromberg Fahrenheit 451. Thanks so much!
It looks like I'm going to have to delve more into the Stromberg recordings - looks like a real treasure trove!!!
I see that he also did Herrmann's The Egyptian!
Thanks and best
R
@Richard - I have 2 recording of Herrmann conducting Fahrenheit 451 (Tsunami & Soundstage) plus a suite he recorded for London Phase 4 Records. Would you like these? I can post them for you this week.
Also I have the F@M edition of The Egyptian and the Varese edition of The Egyptian conducted by Alfred Newman. You interested? It is a gorgeous score.
@gsw
I'd love the hear them, thanks! Which is the most complete with the best sound?
I think that I might have the suite though (about 10 or 11 mins long?) http://custummadealbums.blogspot.com/2009/01/bernard-herrmann-suite-volume-9.html
The Egyptian sounds fantastic!
thanks!

Request:
This was out Feb 2008 so presume it's okay to ask for it.
Klimt - Jorge Arriagada
Thanks!
@ ALL-
A heartfelt pat on the backs to all of you for the really hard work, and excellent shares so far this month!
@Captaincubbio
Grateful thanks for the Who (guilty thanks, perhaps, as it should have been a 'weekend job'!). Despite myself, some of this music still brings up the goosebumps remembering my cinema trips to see these as a kid! Marvellous stuff.
I'll second that request for a re-up of The Eiger Sanction at 320. Cheers.
@Quint & Jadstersdad
Sorry about that... here it is again:
EIGER SANCTION - John Williams (@320)
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=YD7PJROP
Hi All: I don't know where I saw a posting for it but doesn anyone have access to the soundtrack to " A Slipping-Down Life) with Guy Pearce singing (it's the Anne Tyler adaptation).
Also: does anyone have access to Alberto Iglesias non-OST work, particularly A registered Patent (2001)?
@ gsw
I for one would be interested in the FSM edition of "The Egyptian".
Actually I already made a request for it earlier, but still...
@Ebonsun
Thanks for Eiger Sanction again. Much appreciated.
I have a request...
Could someone please share (again), Elfman's "Music From A Darkened Theater, Vol.3" promo....
Thx!
I'm having a similar problem with the Doctor Who link. I renamed it "who.rar" but it still won't unpack. If you can suggest anything else I can do, then I will indeed have cause to cry not "who.rar" but "hoorah!"
@ isbum
Fantastic! Many thanks for Un Singe En Hiver :)
@ Southview212 - You must call the name "budarc" three times and he will appear with his self-made compilation of Danny Elfman's music titled "Music for a Darkened..Vol.3".
If that doesn't work, perhaps you will have gotten the attention of someone else who has it. ;)
budarc, budarc, budarc....
plus one more....BUDARC....
Here's hoping!!!!
For me, it's a Danny Elfman day, just wait and see.
