@ JADSTERSDAD

Thanks for the Edward Woodward link. Apparently the library track "Girl In The Dark" was also known by the alternate title of "A Man Alone", probably on another library release. These things were often called different things.

I think it's purely coincidence that it is similar to John Barry's title for his Ipcress theme.

Re Callan:

I forgot to mention that there is a cover version of the theme on the John Gregory album "TV Thrillers" which you can download from my site HERE

Great info. I have that Rosenman Lord of the Rings and haven't listened to it in some time so I'll give it a spin.

If you care to rip that Forbidden score, I'd be grateful to give it a listen. No rush at all.

This Genesis Project is more elusive. I'll keep checking on that one.

Thanks!

A few words about these shares...

For those of you who are familiar with the traditional versions of these soundtracks, these particular releases are rather unique in their own way. The Japanese versions of both 'Halloween' and 'Phantasm' are well worth the download alone, considering the different variations used throughout. The track listing on each LP is also different than what you would normally find on the American releases. My personal favorite track is probably "The Roar" which is an alternate version of "Spacegate To Infinity" from the 'Phantasm' soundtrack! I've also included the disco version of the "Phantasm" theme with these two particular shares since the follow-up tune "Sure Can Boogie" was never shared anywhere else that I know of, and has a similar sound to that of the "Phantasm" disco remix. The same thing can be said about the "Theme From Friday The 13th Part 3" Promo, since "Rock Bottom" is an extended version of the same theme.

Enjoy! :)

@ Saunders

As promised, here's the version of "Love's The Only Game In Town" which I don't believe you have, sung by one "Suzanne Stevens", from an lp rip I downloaded eons ago (thanks to that benefactor) that was erroneously called "Film Music Of The 70's." It's a 2-lp set that indeed features mostly 70's era tracks, but a few are from the 60's (Birdman Of Alcatraz is actually 1962, I think). Rather than changing the name I just uploaded it as is. Not a great rip but it is 320. Williams is represented by that Pete 'n' Tillie song as well as soundtrack selections from The Long Goodbye, the superb finale from The Poseidon Adventure, and a rare soundtrack excerpt from Midway.

Lots of other goodies from Shire, Goldsmith, Fielding and others, plus lesser-heard Jarre and the wonderfully under-rated Billy Goldenberg (Up The Sandbox). So check it out and enjoy! A couple of scans included.

http://rapidshare.com/files/313482986/Film_Music_Of_The_70s.zip

As to the rare soundtrack version of 'Yes, Giorgio', I still haven't found it yet, though it's somewhere in my house. I'd nabbed a copy on a pristine cassette at Half-Price Books for one nickel (honest!), and threw it in a huge box of such cassettes all awaiting the rainy day I keep counting on to rip them. When I dug out the box, it wasn't in there, but like most of us, there are dozens of such hiding places around my house and I just have to keep looking until I track it down. I'll share it the moment I find it, if it's there to be found. (This is the actual soundtrack version with Pavarotti performing the Williams tune as well as lots of opera of course, as well as "I Left My Heart In San Francisco")

luckymike said...

@ anyone who proofreads this stuff while they read it

"wonderfully under-rated"

was meant to be "wonderful, under-rated"

Is there anything wonderful about not getting the notice you deserve? My guess is Billy would think not.

@ Saunders

Loved "cutting up teddy bears" - what a mental image.

Although the existing version of Jane Eyre is probably my favorite film music ever, I've long awaited the actual film version, sans dialogue, etc. Your rip will be a nice addition to the collection, as I own the CD and also created an audio rip of the whole movie which I enjoy listening to, but have never cut it into a suite. Always hoping some day it gets a real recording, because surely no one has the sessions from such an obscure piece of essentially "made for tv" material. (Well, those poor-quality sessions to Goldsmith's wonderful, wonderful "The Homecoming" exist, so ya never know.) As JW has always claimed Jane to be one of his personal faves, the score is held in high regard even by the many who have never seen the (wonderful) film. Yeah yeah, it's not true to Bronte, but it's easily the most cinematic and moving (both due in no small part to a certain musical contribution.)

I continue to hold out hope that one day someone will embark on a complete score recording, a la Midway. The haunting sequences at Lowood, Helen's death and the scene where Rochester first reveals that he loves Jane are the moments I'd most most love to hear in all their Williamsy splendo/ur. :)

Anyway, hope you have the earlier lp downloaded by now. As I'm a paid RS member, it's my file sharing site of choice, though I realize it's a pain for many.

If you don't mind, btw, I'm gonna borrow the spleen for the evening.

Hey! Don't let that Chuck roast go to waste. Upload away and send me the links and I'll post it over at Ruggo And Jean's Fine House Of Compilations for a Chuck Norris feast.

The FINE HOUSE is always happy to accept compilations. We have a theory that many compilations are the cream of the crop of soundtracks and deserve wide exposure and premium presentation.

You can always post links and track lists in the comments section: I check it daily, even when there are no new comments (can't help it, I'm compulsively afraid I'm gonna miss something)

If you don't have artwork, you can put yourself at my mercy and I'll cobble something together.

JESUS CHRIST: SUPERSTAR (Jesus Christ In The Movies)

Here's some not so good news...
I just received an e-mail from Scoredaddy. It seems that many of the share links on his website have been compromised, therefore Scoredaddy's site is now closed until further notice.
What pisses me off is why would a person/persons want to mess with a site that is being run by such a wonderful giving person.

Here are two really fine (and I think rare) Dimitri Tiomkin CD's. Both are re-recordings and compilations.
The first CD is "The Western Film World Of Dimitri Tiomkin", released in '88 @320.....

http://rapidshare.com/files/313628455/TheWesternFilmWorldOfDimitriTiomkin.rar

The second CD is part of the BMG Classics 100 Years of Film Music series, released only in Germany in '95. The sound quality of this recording is superb.
"High Noon - Original Film Scores Of Dimitri Tiomkin", @320.....

These are from my CD's and complete artwork for both can be found at Crimelounge.

@ WriterDirectorCollector:

Thank you for the wonderful compliment..."The BEST Blogger of 2009!" Sweet! :)

Honestly, I had initially wanted to share these special scores last month as a "Halloween" special, but it wouldn't have been as special as it was without the Captain Zorro and Harry Manfredini tracks...those were stored away in my old closet bedroom at my parents house, and while I was visiting them for the Thanksgiving holiday, I thought it would be a perfect opportunity to upload the whole lot. I'm really glad that you enjoyed them. It's a wonderful feeling when you find something that you never thought possible (which is exactly how I felt when I started blogging here), and what better place to post these wonderful shares than at Isbum's place! If you would have purchased these on eBay, you would have easily paid in the hundreds!

I would like to also give kudos to you for your recent posts of 'Real Genius' and 'To Live And Die In L.A.' Both of those were truly brilliant soundtrack compilations, especially the B-side of 'L.A.'! I have one soundtrack compilation in the works that will be posted on here for the Christmas holiday. Stay tuned!

@ VOODOO MAGIC:

I'm really glad that you enjoyed Harry Manfredini's "Rock Bottom" track! I've always got my fingers crossed that a box set of his 'Friday The 13th' material will be released.

You can expect to see 'The Last American Virgin' post in a few days, as well as that bonus teen-sex comedy soundtrack that I hinted about. I will also check out my resources for those Southside Johnny tracks that you're looking for.

I'm trying to piece together albums for the following 80's flicks:

DEAD END DRIVE IN

MY DEMON LOVER

I almost have all of 'Drive In' except the score and the end title song Playing With Fire by Frank Strangio & Lisa Edwards. If anyone even can do a DVD rip of that end sequence, I'll gladly post the songs I have!!!!!! Also need 'Hes Got It' by Short Circuit and 'Down The Road' by Southern Lightning

I have an LP transfer of David Newman's score for 'Demon Lover' and we need these songs:

# "Let Go"
Performed by Intimate Strangers
From the album "Charm" (1986)

# "Snake Charmer"
Performed by The Shangs

# "What Are You Waiting For?"
Performed by Intimate Strangers
From the album "Charm" (1986)

Performed by The Shangs

# "Chemical Reaction"
Performed by John Neulin

Whadda ya think guys, any interest? Working on a complete AFTER HOURS also, now that we have the glorious 12mins. of Shore's score available at last, surely a holy grail for me :):):)

Although there are myriad contributors to this wonderful compendium of sights and sounds, you two stand out as possibly the most prolific.
