Does anyone happen to have the Jerry Goldsmith re-recordings of "A Streetcar Named Desire" and "Who's Afraid Of Virginia Woolf?" in 320? I know both were recently posted here - but they aren't the re-recordings.

Thanks very much.

@ everybody

I just received "Bananas/Everything You Always Wanted to Know About Sex/Sleeper" and it's a beaut!! A wonderfully produced, colorful package. Two terrific scores (the unused material for "Sex" as well as the bonus cues for "Bananas" are great discoveries). Look for it soon!!!

Oh, and it's OOP so I'll post it here as soon as possible!

I'm not into Blue Ray but when I googled "blue ray ripping software" I saw a heading describing Sony ripping software that made me chuckle:

"Sony is also a media mogul and has a lot to gain from the adoption of blue ray, so it is ironic that their media can be ripped..."

My desire to listen to some non-score music led me to pick up a copy of this album I really liked in '99.

"This is Normal" 1999 Cd @320
By
Gus Gus

http://rapidshare.com/files/333844425/GusGusIsThisNormal.zip

Info:
Looking to explore individual normality within the album's 11 tracks, Gus Gus' multiple singers and songwriters expound on sex, fame, youth, and love. 'Ladyshave' features sly vocals from Daníel Ágúst and a slightly kinky premise, while Hafdis Huld's breathy soprano elevates 'Teenage Sensation', 'Superhuman', and 'Blue Mug' to an icy, remote beauty.

Also, as I came to find out, NOT a film score, but quite a tripper of a record.

"Liquid" 2003 Cd @320
By
35007

http://rapidshare.com/files/333744251/35007LIQUID.zip

Info:
The CD cover includes the words 'Original Sound Track Recording' before the title, but you will not find the movie on video. As bassist Michel Boekhoudt described it, it is "a soundtrack designed to make your own headmovie to." For those not familiar with the group, they play a type of progressive music which is often described as "Stoner Rock", although they don't care for that particular label.

Anonymous said...

Just curious - Anyone here so loopy and sadly fixated on film music that they've bought movie tickets based solely on who wrote the score? I'd say "get a life, dude!" except that, uh, I'm one of those people. I've also purchased DVDs based on the score.

Is it just me?

@isbum - Amazon is streaming the movie for $9.99. Expensive, but much less than the VHS; running around $25.00.
Although there is one on EBAY for $15.00. :)

Isbum said...

@ Tony - So I can watch it on the computer for 10 dollars?

I tried searching ebay, but with the word HIT in the title, I got buried in unrelated stuff.

Perhaps I should type Billy Dee Williams & Richard Pryor.
Then I can choose between Lady Sings the Blues, Hit! & Bingo Long. LOL!

Dylan S said...

@ all,

I'm looking for some rare Marvin Hamlisch. I just went through all of his recording at Soundtrack Collector and was wondering if anybody had any of these:

-Theme from Kotch (arranged and conducted by Henry Mancini) (the title song won a Golden Globe and was nominated for an Oscar but oddly had no soundtrack release)

-Themes from "Worlds Greatest Athlete" (Walt Disney Records)

-Chapter Two LP

-Starting Over LP

-Ordinary People (arrangements and his 5-10 minutes of score)

-This "Great Movies" LP which contains rare Hamlisch and many other unreleased tracks from late seventies, early eighties films:

http://www.soundtrackcollector.com/catalog/soundtrackdetail.php?movieid=49491

Then there was an Intrada release I wasn't aware of: I Ought to Be in Pictures (paired with David Shire's "Max Dugan Returns")

How's Shirley Valentine?

Had a bootleg recording of his Jean Seberg musical surfaced?

Thanks!

Watch for the Woody Allen CD soon (hopefully by tonight)!

"Hate Crime" 2005 Cd @320
By

http://rapidshare.com/files/333792139/ET_HateCrime.zip

I really enjoyed this score, but they included 3 tracks of dialogue from the film that just broke the mood.

Here's the score re-tagged without the dialogue.

http://rapidshare.com/files/334374960/ET_HateCrime.zip

Isbum said...

@ Tony - Very tempting... if anybody wants to send it my way, I'll do my best to rip the Schifrin score off of it.
It's the same year Lalo wrote "Enter the Dragon", so it's bound to be interesting.

tony said...

It's really a shame that many of the films from the 60's and 70's are rarely shown anymore. Even TCM tends to repeat many of the more well-known films. With so many cable channels, you'd think someone would pickup some of these little gems.

Isbum said...

@ Everyone:

I know this post isn't necessarily applicable to this forum, but I found something that some of you may appreciate.

For those that are big novel readers, particularly in the fantasy novel genre, I found a new group on facebook that is looking rather promising. Do a search for Appernysia and you will find the group. The group was created about a week ago.

It appears that this is the first novel by the author Terron James (I haven't been able to find any other published works by him), but he is already gathering a surprisingly large fan base. It also looks like he has hired out a graphic designer and an illustrator.

As far as the group site is concerned, there isn't much on there yet besides some monologuing by Terron. He has posted the first paragraph of his book and there is one graphic design (used as the group symbol), but his style of writing looks good and he has promised more shares in the near future.

In one of the posts, he said that his goal is to have the first book finished by the end of April. We'll see, but anyway, I am intrigued and will probably be picking up the book when it gets published.

The bad review - "This CD is really good untill about the 5th track where it sort of turns into like 80's Cosby Show chamber music with vocals by the Lion King cast. It is really awful. and stupid sounding. It picks back up around track 12 though."

Due to the lack of response over at Master Cylinders place I may blamage myself but I'm reposting my message here:
This is a most incredible place! I just stumbled in and discovered a Blaxploitation gem in the form on Abby by Robert O. Ragland. And I noticed that it lacks a cover. Any takers? Tony? THXjay? Isbum?

Also I would like to compliment Quint & THXjay for their efforts on the Starsky & Hutch complete series. Sounds And looks great. One minor thing tho: J.J. Johnson actually scored episodes The Bait & Texas Longhorn 1975. I believe he went uncredited in Your rips.

Speaking of J.J. Johnson. If I provide a VHS-rip of Top Of The Heap (1972) would someone be willing to do a Bootleg of the soundtrack?
/Funkback

@Isbum I could easily provide a rapidsharelink to a rip w. the following specs:
GSpot v2.70a avi file details:

File Name.....: Hit.1973.VHSRip.Xvid-CG.avi
File Size.....: 1,565,622,272 (bytes)
Run time.....: 2:14:53 (194032 frames)
Resolution.....: 608x432
Display Aspect Ratio ("DAR"): 1.407
FPS.....: 23.976
Video Codec.....: XviD 1.1.2 Final
Video Bit Rate.....: 1405 kbs

Audio Bitrate.....:129kbps ch VBR 48000Hz
Quality Factor (bits/pixel)/frame: 0.223
Audio Channels: 2

Subs: English (hard)

Will that do for a rip of the Lalo score?

Please don't type in the record label names.

It makes them searchable and easy to report links to the host site.

Most soundtracks have only been released by one label.
No need to be specific, friends.

@Dylan - My external hard drive went kapoot recently, so I lost a ton of mp3s.

Might I also suggest that in some cases that if the soundtrack was re-released on a different label than originally issued, Type like so;

examples;

INTR@DA - F$M - V@RÈSE - MÇA - L@-L@ L@ND, S@NY, etc...

This is best if all request be as covert as possible, but be distinguishable from mirror bootlegs or expanded editions.

If the request is more precise, the up-loader or provider of the link can better help fill the request.

Cheers! : )

mel said...

@ The Alchemist

Firstly, you of all people need never hate making requests. You have been more than generous in sharing so much of your collection here with us.

With regard to the deleting of your links, I believe that our loathed and despised webhoster R@p!dsh!t is now using software that can detect certain uploads simply by the number of tracks and their length (I think it works something like gracenotes or whatever it’s called) and can run an automatic ban that will delete them no matter what one puts in the title.

The way around this is to add a bit of guff to your upload - pictures and/or reviews - that will change the content. Anyway, no correctly spelled titles or composers should ever appear in the link.

And when your premium account expires, try MediaFire - it’s completely free of charge and there are never any hassles with deletions.

What you do is this: download a few pictures (of anything at all) from the internet and save them in a special folder.

Each time you zip up your files prior to uploading, simply include the pictures in the zip (you can use the same pictures for subsequent zips of other material too).

This will change the data of the ripped CD and Rapidsheiss's software will not recognize it as being verboten.
