boynotorious, thanks very kindly for the password, can't wait to hear this!

@ mel - If indeed he has departed, I would wish that Gordon, Harry Nilsson, and he were having a nice conversation over it.

@ di(aphonous - Thank you for devoting so much attention to this film and score. Much appreciated my friend. You may level the track, but do share it with everyone.

@ thingmaker - Nice to see you helping out my friend.

Is there anyone who can check to see if there is such a thing as a PROM QUEEN promo score? Prom Queen was an internet series that aired in the summer. Music by Jim Mckeever.

Garak826 said...

Thanks Thingmaker for the fast delivery.
The two splendid "Lionheart"-CDs were certainly a painful gap in my collection.
And "Rent-A-Cop" might not be the very best of Goldsmith, but it's a further step to completion.

Some interesting scores here:
http://itscomingoutofyourspeaker.blogspot.com/search/label/Soundtrack

And while Gordon Jenkins is mentioned here: does anyone have his symphonic picture "Seven Dreams" ?

This is rumored to be quite good and fetched some bucks in the upper range at ebay in the past.

filmpac said...

@ garak826 - I was about to upload when I thought I'd run a little search first, 'cause I knew someone had upped it previously. From good ol' You Don't Have To Visit This Blog (Requests Part 3), comes an LP rip from our host Isbum himself. Link still good...

Jerry Goldsmith "Macarthur" (1977), LP @320:

@ quinlan - Please, all credit to Isbum on the links list.

@ prospero & isbum - I notice on the Joyful Project page that both of you don't have Gremlins 2 score, by Jerry G. You can find that one over at Vinnie Rattolle's Records, along with a compiled song soundtrack. Thanks Vinnie!

Perhaps someone could post "Legally Blonde" The Musical for my roomie?

Now that he has it Tivo'd, you will spare me the repeated playing of this on our television. A certain level of "perky show tunes" I can only take for so long. Please help me to put this in his car where it can play all day long.

filmpac said...

Working through some old downloads here, and I'd like to thank the poster of Gianni Marchetti's "Sun On The Skin", delightful! Has anyone ever turned up a track listing for this? I've come up a total blank. It was a 13-track Japanese only CD release. Cross fingers, thanks if anyone can help.

Also looking for the soundtrack to "Empire of the Wolves", it is a french film the music is composed by 3 different composers. I watched it this weekend and was very surprised it was a great film, with a cool score. Thanks for the help.

filmpac said...

@ isbum - I can't even begin to imagine what Legally Blonde, The Musical would sound like, all I know is there should be laws against this sort of thing. Go here and send that puppy to the ve-hickle, where it belongs;)

"A CHRISTMAS STORY"

does a score or ost exist?

filmpac said...

@ cheech - No, not to the best of my knowledge. One of the holy grails.

PS. What happened to your von?

Isbum said...

@ filmpac - We both thank you!
Honestly, it seems like it would make for a highly enjoyable theatrical experience.
It's the repetition of it that grates my cheese. When my roomie would tape shows on VHS, going back to something would give me time to tie my shoes and head out the door or secure headphones with duct tape. With the miracle of Tivo, it begins playing in seconds.

VonCheech said...

@filmpac

if you say it doesn't exist. then i believe it.

maybe we should try to put one together...

imdb gave me these tracks...

"The Hut-Sut Song (A Swedish Serenade)"
Performed by Sammy Kaye and his Orchestra

"Jingle Bells"
Performed by Fred Waring and The Pennsylvanians
Courtesy of MCA Records

"Santa Claus is Coming to Town"
Performed by Bing Crosby and The Andrews Sisters

"Peter and the Wolf"
by Sergei Prokofiev

"GRAND CANYON SUITE"
(excerpts)
Ferde Grofé Sr.

"I Guess I'll Have to Dream the Rest"
Performed by Sammy Kaye and his Orchestra

"Little Orphan Annie"
Written by Joe L. Sanders and Gus Kahn

"Romeo & Juliet overture"
Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky

"Hamlet"
Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky

"On the Trail"
from Grand Canyon Suite
Composed by Ferde Grofé Sr.

WIKI SAYS...

The mock heroic tone of the narration, filled with such hyperbole as "the legendary battle of the lamp", is matched by the extensive use of familiar classical music themes.
For example, when the character Scut Farkas appears, the Wolf's theme from Sergei Prokofiev's Peter and the Wolf plays in the background. (The name "Farkas" is derived from the Hungarian word for "wolf.")
The piece that plays after Ralphie says "fudge", and after the lamp breaks for the second time, is the opening of Hamlet by Tchaikovsky.
The Grand Canyon Suite by Ferde Grofe is featured prominently in the movie.
Movement 3- On The Trail provides a suitable Western feeling to a Red Ryder rifle fantasy sequence, and bits of Movement 1 [Sunrise] and Movement 4 [Sunset] were also freely arranged and adapted throughout the score.
The music in the dream sequence with Ralphie in a cowboy outfit shooting at bandits and later when he finally plays with his BB gun outside of the house is based on the main theme from the classic John Ford western Stagecoach (1939).
The Harp Solo from Benjamin Britten's "Ceremony of Carols" is briefly excerpted for the scene in which Ralphie awakens to a snowy Christmas morning.
Popular music of the time was also used, ostensibly as coming from the radio.
This included three Christmas songs sung by Bing Crosby, two of them in conjunction with the Andrews Sisters.

Original music for the film's score was by Carl Zittrer, who worked with director Bob Clark on at least ten films between 1972 and 1998; and by Paul Zaza, who has worked with Clark on at least sixteen films, including Murder by Decree (1979) and My Summer Story (1994).

Guess I'm feeling lucky, my brother wants "The Thin Red Line" by Hans Zimmer.
I ran across a blog that had tons of Zimmers, but not TTRL.
Checked it again, but looked like he was having some file deletions, so he hadn't posted anything new in awhile.

BOYNOTORIOUS said...

@ Isbum

I have these:

Thin Red Line (Hans Zimmer) - Score
Thin Red Line (Hans Zimmer) - Expanded Score
Thin Red Line (Melanesian Choirs) - Additional Score Cues (Chants)

Let me know and i'll up them.

Isbum said...

I'll take "Expanded Score" for 500 Alex! erm ..boynotorious, I mean.
Thought I was on "Jeopardy" for a second. ;)
My bro is a writer recovering from hernia surgery. I hope this makes him feel better. If he wants the chanting and Melanesia Choirs, it would indicate he's addicted to pain killers. I hope not, of course.
You're the topps my friend!

filmpac said...

@ isbum - Tivo? I'm still coming to grips with Beta;)

I always get a bit busy end of month, so I'll probably just post totally useless links to places nobody in their right mind would step foot in, like that Disney Channel thingy... GAH, I might never recover! Nice Gene Page collection, I've already got the Close Encounters album, and it's a cracker, cheers mate!

How goes the Joyful project? Who do we need to e-slap to contribute a track?

@ tony - On first listen, I thought The Runner Stumbles was ok. A bit of a needle bump noise, but I've heard worse. Either that or I am going tonally deef.

@ cheech - Cool. Maybe we can convince Isbum to make "Christmas Story" next month's project. BTW, I've often considered changing my nick, and vonfilmpac has a nice ring to it methinks:))

Isbum said...

@ filmpac - Yes. The site that had LB The Musical made me feel like I was a creepy old dude poking around in some pre-teens diary.

Roomie got the Steeley Dan soundtrack opened. Starred Zalman King of A-List Softcore Porn flicks.. and Richard Pryor as Wino! Where the hell does Rocket find this stuff??

@ filmpac - I got 117 min. 30 sec. on the Joyful comp.
I would still like a CD copy of "Zorba the Greek" - Ruggo and Quinlan have the same Lp rip.

filmpac said...

117 min? Is this the expanded Franklynot Joyful project, with bonus tracks and unreleased cues?

Amadues said...

http://rapidshare.com/files/72876619/ThinZimEx.part2.rar
Pass: just like sitting on a grenade and getting attacked by chanting people

@ Amadues

I'd help you out but I have to imagine that there is a REASON nobody cares about your request. :)

So wrong. Yet so enjoyable to type.

Anyone have a reason why not to help this guy? Just curious as it seems odd to me that he'd be ignored on a request for something he could likely GOOGLE and find.

@ All

While were almost on the subject of Zalman King & A-List Softcore Porn flicks, anyone have George S. Clinton's Music of RED SHOE DIARIES or DELTA OF VENUS Promo?

Here's 2 requests of mine:

Dead Ringers - Howard Shore
An Unfinished Life - Chris Young's rejected score

@ Amadues - I will second your request for the A.I. promo. I think I have the same one you do, and it sounds lousy.

Garak826 said...

I withdraw my request for "Runaway","List Of Adrian Messenger" and "Extreme Prejudice". Thanks to filmpac's hint I found them in the "You don't have to visit..."-archives.

That leaves only "Executive Decision" (complete), "The Spiral Road" and "I.Q."

@andre
Looking forward to the "Chain Reaction"-CDs :-)

Segroeg said...

@Garak826
I've got "Executive Decision Promo"
with 61 short tracks, but i probably found it here.
Go to the Quinlan links and look at it.
If you don't find it, let me know if you're ineterested.

BOYNOTORIOUS said...

@ jersey devil

I've got both the DEAD RINGERS and Christopher Young's Rejected AN UNFINISHED LIFE if nobody else has active links for both.

@ garak826

I have:

I.Q. (Jerry Goldsmith) - Expanded Promo Score (Academy)

As for the A.I, my version is a bit hissy but by no means a speaker bomb. Either way somebody has to have an active link to this thing. My best guess is that everyone is likely floating the same copy and you might be stuck with it as is. I don't have the actual PROMO as I hate the movie and personally think Williams score sounds like recycled uber-crap.

@ Segroeg

I couldn't find the link on the spread sheet. I had no idea a PROMO even existed. How I slept that one off is beyond me. Feel free to up it.

quinlan said...

@ isbum
I just dropped a new link for "Zorba's Dance" CD ripped in the project section.
And this time I'm damn' sure that it's from CD.
Well I was also sure of that for my prior submission, but the rip was not from me.
This time it's not from me either, but it's from eMusic where I picked it up for you and they have only CD rips.
Cheers

@ segroeg - The copy of "Zorba's Dance" you kindly provided sounds great!
If you could provide the entire score here it would be most welcome!
Poor Zorba sounded like he was dancing inside of an empty coffee can in the Lp rips. I am sure ruggo and quinlan would enjoy the upgrade on this classic score.

@ filmpac - Past my bedtime when I typed 117 minuets. More like 77.

@ garak826 - I can provide "The Spiral Road" if nobody else has a live link handy. Will do it this evening unless it shows up sooner.

@ amadues - We've had this chat before. It's not that nobody "cares" about your request, as you say. Since you supply no details about what you already have (tracks? bitrate?), perhaps either nobody has it, or perhaps they have the same thing you do. We ain't mind readers (yet, though we are working on it).

Also, and this is purely my own personal view. I am far more likely to provide a request to a member of this group, who contributes TO the group. You've been around for quite some time now, and I do not recall very many (if any) contributions from yourself. I know you have quite a collection of oldies, so perhaps you could have helped out on some of those Goldsmith requests. Hmmm?

There is nothing personal here, just my thoughts on the matter. Think about it.

tony said...

@isbum - Hey Pal. I actually have a copy the Lee Holdridge Lp. Quite good, I might add. Thank you for think of me though :)

@ benoit - As the resident Morricone expert, I think I might need to enlist your assistance here. A recent acquisition, it came listed as "Recording Sessions", but I am not familiar with the film, so could you please confirm it is at least from the movie. To confuse the issue more, the tracks (untitled) don't conform with the enclosed back cover. If legit, it makes a fantastic addition to Morricone Lover methinks...

Ennio Morricone "Fraulein Doktor" (1969), recording sessions @320:

Also included are the raw LP rips in case anyone wants to take a stab at cleaning it up better than I did. But hey, the scans are nice and the price is right!

My thanks to all whose efforts have brought Zorba into the 21st century.

Still on my little lap top, but will be changing out power unit on main computer based on diagnosis from all my friends here. Actually found online instructions suggesting I replace one connector at a time much as one would the distributor cap on a car. Finally a computer-related instruction I can understand.

Anybody interested in complete Lord Of The Rings recordings (1.4 gigs and counting)?

Isbum said...

Here's a Morricone I keep coming back to. After being paired up several times with other scores, it finally got the royal treatment with an expanded disc.
Something about this film brought out the best in Maestro Morricone.
Call me crazy, but I hear the beginnings of the poliziotteschi sound of the 70's here in this 1966 score.

"Svegliati e Uccidi" Cd @320
Aka: Wake Up and Die
by Ennio Morricone

http://rapidshare.com/files/73035201/EM_WakeUpAndDie.zip

@ You Morricone lovers-
I currently have "Gli Occhi Freddi Della Paura" paired with the above score. They don't really play well together. "Freddi" is just too trippy and suspence oriented.
Do any of you have suggestions for a better pair up with "Svegliati"?

Ideas welcome!

If you'd like not to leave "Gli Occhi Freddi della Paura" out in the cold:

From the twofer “A Bernardo Bertolucci Double Feature” I had moved Delerue's "Il Conformista" to *that* composers own directory. As I appreciate surprises and variety in music, I'd place Morricone's "La Tragedia di un Uomo Ridicolo" to follow the dissonant "Gli Occhi Fredi"; about 79 minutes in all.

di(aphanous said...

Above should read “composer's own directory."

That is why I need the Edit option (in Opera), or the Delete trash-can in here: it's only after I publish my message that I do spot one or more mistakes of mine.

Hi All!

I forget who, but someone recently requested this one. It's a vinyl rip @ 320 (pre stereo for this label I believe) and has one or two skips (sorry about that) ---otherwise it's in great shape and an amazing album! (heck---anything with Thurl Ravenscroft is usually amazing!)

Long time lurker - technophobic idiot who doesn't quite know how to upload full albums yet

I do have a few that I hope to have links for soon

Swashbuckler, Return of the Musketeers, The Cool Mikado, Wild Geese and Wild Geese 2

It's just a way of saying thanks and hopefully joining a nice community with good people

Thanks

"La Derobade" 1979 Lp @320
by Vladimir Cosma

Quite melancholy. Composer Cosma plays the keyboards throughout.
As a bonus, it comes with a truly awful love song titled "Client P.T.T.". They should have used the title of the track that follows it,
"Blowing". ;)

@ All - The Joyful Music Project is closed now, but to finalize it, I need two things.

1. "First Flight" from Goldsmiths score for "Explorers". @320 Cd please

2. @ edda88 - I have listened to "Love Theme from Flashdance" a number of times and the feeling I get is that it would be better in a collection of Love Themes.

Edda would like to select something from "The Sting" soundtrack, but only has it on cassette tape.
I don't have it at all. Could one of you give a link for it please.

@ edda88 - Like noted in the project thread, please let me know which track you would like here.

Thanks everybody!

My Black-Hair Girl

Mikis had first composed it as an instrumental "Cretan dance", years before Zorba came into the picture. Soon afterwards, in 1961, he turned it into that song, interpreted by Yiota Lydia.

Desperately REQUESTED a ... Yiddish translator ;-)
Have fallen in love with this "Misirlou" klezmer variant (not to mention — Oh, Adonai! — the singer's sensuous voice; for she melts me down to a silvery droplet).
Miserlou (The Klezmer Conservatory Band)

Would any knowledgeable soul be willing to roughly translate its lyrics into English? Please... French, Dutch, Portuguese or Greek will do, as well.

BTW - This version's slow tempo is the same as I have originally heard it in Greek, in my childhood.

Thank you!

I can whack out that Purple Bitch for you if nobody else has a ready link to his purposed demise.

Another ancient request: THE SECRET OF MY SUCCESS Soundtrack. I've got a LP rip that appears to be from a torrent that never completed. It's cost me considerable annoyance. Anyone have a fix?

bistis6 said...

@pinscher68

CUBA!! How well I remember that score from Christmas of '79. Although an album was advertised on the one-sheet, it never appeared in the record bins. However, I just popped over to soundtrackcollector.com and whether accurate or not, it claims that there is indeed a release. One person claims to have it in their collection. Does anyone have any information on this?

P.S. Love that underrated movie as well!

Just an advise for the passwords.
When copying a password, make sure that there is no blank space at the end of it.
Sometimes there is one which is difficult to detect visually.
If it doesn't work, just type it instead of copying and pasting.
Good luck

One of the advantages of growing older (if you've raised your kids right) is they start taking you out to the movies rather than the other way around.

Last night my son treated me to dinner and a showing of "Beowulf" in IMAX 3D.

The last 3D movies I saw were the original releases of "Bwana Devil" and "Mystery of The Wax Museum." The technolology has come a looooooooong way since the red and blue glasses (now replaced by polarized lenses).

Fanfreakintastic! And it was a good flick, too.

My son works for Red Digital, a company that provides 4k-line high definition cameras to the film industry. He said a number of their cameras are currently being used to make 3D films (Jim Camron's latest will be in 3D), and this is the wave of the future.

Film score by Alan Sylvestri was quite effective also.

Highly recommended.

@ Quinlan Something's going wrong and I couldn't create a "hot" link.

filmpac said...

@ 3410 - Interesting. At first I couldn't see what your point was on the Lost-In-Tyme site, since I routinely right click links and open in new window. I now see that just clicking on links there bypasses the normal rapidshare wait time window, and opens the file saving window directly. Neat!

So, I took a lot at the source code on the page, and the ONLY thing different is they have a target attribute on the link, so it opens in a blank window. Tried that here, and blogger comments does NOT permit the use of that attribute. So I guess we're screwed on that count.

The only other thing I can think of that makes this work there, is that Lost-In-Tyme is a premium user, so their links get some special treatment from rapidshare. I'm not, so we're screwed again.

Apart from that, I do agree with boynotorious, it's uploaders choice. There are a couple of things you can do to bypass the dreaded rapidshare wait time, which I have discussed previously. There's also a couple of free programs that claim to help, though I've never used them, since I can just disconnect and reconnect the modem to get a new IP address.

At least I tried (-:

3410 said...

@ filmpac,

I was just asking because it seems like a useful trick to allow multiple simultaneous downloads - which I would employ for my uploads, if I knew how to do it - and only asked you because you tend to be quite sharp on these sorts of questions.

Nothing to do with asking anyone to do anything differently, or complaining about Rapidshare or anything or anyone. I was merely asking a technical question (which, sadly, was totally misrepresented by an interloper).

Rock on. :)(:

filmpac said...

@ 3410 - No problem with your question. Curiously, the second set of links DO NOT have that target attribute on them, so I really think that is the key to the exercise somehow. All we need now is for blogger to allow the attribute on comments!

Isbum said...

@ di(aphanous - I don't know about ethics per se, but putting the brakes on some 2nd and 3rd party's greed feels OK.
