btw to return the favor for all the work you guys did for me lately i'd like to post some stuff for you guys. i have mostly horror/cult stuff. but most of it is on my blogs. click on profile to go there. but i do have one thing i recently upped to Rapid that i haven't posted on there yet. it's two rare different scores for the Bill Murray cult classic Stripes. one has different tracks than the other. i haven't the more rare 2nd version i have on any blogs so i thought i'd share with you guys. anyone want a copy? i'll post here. one's in 320 except the last track (A suite -192) and the 2nd rare version is 192. got artwork for both. front and back. anyone interested? let me know.

cheers!

oops i meant to say near the end of my message: "I haven't seen the more rare 2nd version on any blogs so I thought I'd share with you guys..."

Isbum said...

I'm so confused by these 2 releases, please someone help me out.

"Screamers" is listed at Soundtrack Collector as being the same as

# Fish Men, The (1979)
# Something Waits In The Dark (1982, United States)
# Island Of Mutations (1979)
# Island Of The Fishmen (1979)

Is the Lp released in the U.S. by Sandy Berman?

Isbum said...

Think I may have got the answer.
The "Screamers" Lp is just arranged differently than the Cd version.

Am I right? Both are Michelini.

@Maimone Digital - Thank you so much for the MEPHISTO/OTHER share. I love both of those books, THE OTHER is a great movie, but I have never seen MEPHISTO WALTZ. Thank you for TIME TUNNEL also.

@Thxjay & filmpac - Thank you both for sharing the video converter programs.

@Jean - More great shares, thank you.

GSW said...

@Elias - FRANCES is great. Thank you so much for sharing.

GSW said...

@filmpac - I am having the same problem with the video converter that "transit" is having. After conversion & downloading there is nothing there. I did the same song twice, once in MP3 only format, got nothing, then AVI, got the video but no sound. Can the audio be rights protected and not the video?

disneyfella said...

I have a request for a pretty obscure film. I don't even know if the music was ever made available. I suppose any info as to availability would be greatly appreciated. The film was a 1983 Margot Kidder vehicle called "Trenchcoat". The music was by Charles Fox. Does anyone happen to know anything about this soundtrack? Thanks in advance all you miracle workers:)

disneyfella said...

Sorry for the double post. I was surfing ebay and came across this obscure lp. I'm a pretty big "Black Hole" fan, (I have the French LP version thanks to my friends here) and I have the iTunes album posted. Apparently this record says that it is a dialogue and sound effects track from the film! I've never heard of this before. Can anyone validate this album? Is it legit? Is it available here somewhere? Here is the auction:

http://cgi.ebay.com/BLACK-HOLE-WALT-DISNEY-LP-SOUNDTRACK-SOUND-EFECTS-MUSIC_W0QQitemZ170230454292QQihZ007QQcategoryZ306QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

Any help on clearing up what exactly this is would also be greatly appreciated. Was it released to the public or only like a promotional album? I've never heard of this before for any feature film......

Journeyman68 said...

@disneyfella

I would bet anything that the Black Hole dialogue/music/sfx LP in that auction is one of those "story" albums, much like the "Witch Mountain" one that was posted earlier. I am saying this based on the look of the picture included in the ebay listing as it looks like the typical Disney LP cover for those types of releases.
Just my two cents, mate.

Cheers!

@Disneyfella

That Black Hole LP has the actual dialog and sound effects and music from the movie along with narration.

Not to be confused with the Read-a-long record that had music and sound effects from the movie but voice actors to do the dialog.

I have a copy if you want to hear it.

Journeyman68¡¡¡ Thank you¡¡ but that link you gave me it is the promo. Finally, I found the commercial release of Urban Legend and, sadly, there are only two suites but not the end credit, as I thought.

It is strange that in the promo release there aren't the explosive end credits from Urban Legend.

But thank you¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡

Just wanted to say that we not only have film composers who changed sexes, we also have one who changed his name:

Enjott Schneider was Norbert Jürgen Schneider, he just took the first two letts N + J which are pronounced Enjott in German.

Wonder why he did this. Did he want to appear cool ?

@ transit & gunshotwound - No real idea why that one song doesn't want to convert from YouTube, although a quick google does seem to indicate there is now some form of copy protection in place. Whether that is the cause or not, I have no idea. Might also be some oddball audio encoding that is throwing the converter. The only other alternative (apart from finding the song elsewhere) is to grab the audio straight from the computer's sound port. If you can hear it, you can copy it. Google for programs to do this.

A quick mention, another handy site for doing YouTube conversions online is TubeLeecher. This is a single pass converter that seems to work really well, and is very fast. Video only, no audio option. You'll need to enter a save filename yourself into the save box, for example myvideo.avi, otherwise you get a gobbledegook name with no extension. Apart from that, works a treat.

@ thxjay - Your suggestion of VDownloader didn't really work for me (installed OK, but the program gave an error when entering the URL). I got a new download from where the program said, and that one works fine. However, there is one big drawback for me, it seems to embed it's own website in the title of the captured video, and it is very visible on playback. I can't find a workaround. Any clues?

@ everyone

I know this group is all about film scores, but maybe, just maybe somebody here can help me with something different. For many years now I have been trying to run down a copy of the extended play version of "Cry Wolf" by the group A-Ha. I have looked everywhere, and can't even find it for sale overseas! It's not on either of the russian mp3 sites that I subscribe to either. Can anyone here help me out on this?

3410 said...

@ Christine,

If you have no luck here, it's available here for £5

Journeyman68 said...

@christine cougar

I am a HUGE fan of A-ha! I have every album that they have ever released (or at least I'm pretty sure I do) as well as numerous solo projects and misc. extended versions of much of their earlier efforts. Feel free to email me at mjniemela@yahoo.com in a day or so. That'll give me a chance to locate all of my A-ha related stuff and then I can compile a list for you and then we can see if there is anything else you don't have that you may want.
I can also supply you with a few torrent links to obtain much of what I've mentioned above. I look forward to hearing from you.

Cheers!

@Long Island Ripper

Thanks for Stripes. It's a classic!

GSW said...

@filmpac - Thank you for your input concerning the YouTube converter. The song I was trying to convert, BABY I CAN'T PLEASE YOU by Sam Phillips(female), I believe is protected. I had tried downloading the song several times over the past couple of years via Limewire and each time it would not play without a liscense. It seems strange that the music can be copy protected but not the video. I tried a different video to convert to MP3 only, but I got a message that the site was to busy and to try later. Of course immeditaly my server when down and has just now come back and I have not had a chance to try again.

Hi all,
Here's my first posting: two Russian films with scores by Mikhail Ziv. I don't know much about Ziv and none of his music is available on CD (that I know of). These are two suites (performed live, I believe), one from BALLAD OF A SOLDIER (1959, but 1961 here in the States) and CLEAR SKIES (1961). If you like big, orchestral music with a lot of melody, then you might enjoy these. They sound very "Hollywood" to me, and I mean that in a good way! Enjoy!

Several months ago, Isbum shared an album called Betrayal, scored by tenor saxaphonist Teo Macero. Teo didn't do too many other scores, but he did do this rather strange jazzy score to a Japanese end-of-the world flick. From a Japanese pressing comes...

Teo Macero "Fukkatsu No Hi (aka Virus)" (1980), LP @224:
http://rapidshare.com/files/125525504/TM-Virus.zip

Featuring Janis Ian, Chick Corea, and music by the London Symphony Orchestra. And check out Quinlan's Jazz Speakeasy for an album of Teo Macero, with the Prestige Jazz Quartet. Enjoy!

Does anyone out there have this one?

Jerry Gerber's music for the 1980s episodes of Gumby. According to Jerry's website (www.jerrygerber.com) he created the soundtrack music for 33 episodes. I'm particularly interested in the music for the End Credits, but would like to hear the rest, too.

I know... Gumby?! Sure, it's goofy, but I'm that way sometimes.
