Welcome to December at FranklyYES!
Tis the season to be jolly, ta-rumpa-pum-pum. And what better place to spend the silly season than right here :)
@WriteDirectorCollector
I love the soundtrack of your human consciousness!

Does anyone have the "Pandorum" score for share?

@ fdfdfdfd
You're very welcome. I'm only sorry I couldn't help with the other request - the Academy Award sings, but I'll keep a constant lookout for it.
Here is Charade, at 192 KPS (that's how I got it, sorry - thanks to original uploader, whomever you are):

Not sure what You meant by that comment?

So far, with the items that You and others have provided, I now have 14 of the original VCL releases in 320...
Cherry 2000
Fedora / Crises
Pino Donaggio: Symphonic Suites
Vibes
The Rose Tattoo
Bloodline / Red Sonja
Raggedy Man
Stars 'n' Bars
Eye Of The Needle / Last Embrace
The 'Burbs
Jagged Edge
Flesh + Blood
We're No Angels
The Music Of Alfred Newman
I'm not quite sure of any other titles that have been released in the VCL 9000.0 / BCL 6000 series. If by any chance that You, or Others may have more than what I have listed here, I would really appreciate and be interested in those as well.
These early VCL releases are fantastic, I wish I had got on the CD Club wagon and mail ordered them when they were first released. Hindsight is bliss. Thanks to You and others, I now have a larger appreciation for these scores, and wish to eventually see the films they are from when the opportunity comes.
Thanks Again Southview212! \ ( - _ - ) /
@ --mcc
Where did you read this session exist?
@mcc
The "recording sessions" for BTTF are likely to be a bootleg or hybrid of the commercial release and other sources. Before the Intrada a copy of such a thing would have been viewed as the Holy Grail. From what I hear the sessions for 2 and 3 were leaked but not so for the original film.
I got hold of my copy of The Watchmen Motion comic via a torrent - at over 3 gigs it's pretty big for direct links. TPB has one I believe.
@ JoshR --
Thanks a bunch for CHARADE!
@ JM's Enterprise --
As a BTTF superfan/completist, I'd love to hear the Recording Sessions, but if it turns out to be the exact same as the Intrada, there's probably no need to go through the trouble. If it's different somehow, though, or even includes background patter like Silvestri speaking to his orchestra in a sort of behind-the-scenes way (like being a fly on the wall during the recording process), it'd be fun to give it a listen! :)
@ stereoelf --
Thanks, I'm just looking for the SCORE to the Watchmen Motion Comics, as I already have the animations themselves on DVD.
Got a line on the music? Pretty solid stuff!

Back in the very early days of this blog I made a comment about the kazoo. Either isbum or filmpac immediately sent me links to a slew of kazoo music.
Yeah. Actual legit recordings of that basic of all instruments harmoniously toodling together in fascinating rhythms.
Gentlemen, and any ladies who may be wandering by (please don't get offended), retribution is finally at hand.
Yesterday my son sent me this link to youtube. My reaction was disbelief which rapidly changed to hysterical awe. I still haven't fully recovered from the fall from my chair and rolling on the floor.
Gentlemen (and Ladies), I give you:

I've got nothing against "commercial" Christmas music. After all, Rudolph is fun for the kids and who can resist White Christmas?
But here's something for your more contemplative moments during the season. I hope some of these touch you as much as they have me.

May I second Jeffrey Scott Arnold's request of 30 November for Carl Davis' soundtrack to the 1980 Thames Television series "Hollywood" (Us title: "Hollywood: A Celebration of the American Silent Film").
I used to own this title on cassette, but it went missing many years ago, and I have never been able to replace it.
Many thanks in advance to anyone who can help.

@ all: Those SOBs at Rapidshare are shortening their length of holdings from 90 to 60 days. That means any file of mine that hasn't been downloaded in over a month can expire & perish. I'll try to post them & download my own to keep them active but I'm sure many will fall by the way side as what happened with my Sendspace & other links. This may make all of GSW's work logging these things a bit pointless. Is there any service that once you join it doesn't delete your files? In any case, here are the endangered species:

Hi all,
I have one request:
"Cross Creek" by Leonard Rosenman
Very thanks for your help!
Enjoy!
@The Alchemist,
my personal opinion is, that megaupload is the best place for sharing files.
@Ningue
Thanks for that Southside Johny info. That's more than i managed to find!
Cheers.
A VERY UNUSUAL REQUEST-
does anybody out there have the soundtrack of 'Come September''
lyrics by bobby darin and music by hans j salter
starring rock hudson...
i luv the catchy main title tune
@ fdfdfdfd
Your request is an intriguing one. Although Darin wrote the lyrics for the title song of Come September, I can only find an instrumental version.
There are no labels for this soundtrack in Soundtrack Collector's database.
Looks like he didn't sing it. Would you be happy to get the tune only?
@ The Alchemist
Whee-eww!
I forgot it's december....was wondering why I don't have any frankly mails *mefeelingverystupid*
I second @--mcc *stakeout* request

I can help with PLAYING BY HEART when I get home from work, probably another 9 hours, or so.
Re: BTTF
Here are the recording sessions from BTTF that were posted here a while back. Many thanks to the original uploader.
http://rapidshare.com/files/315300886/Back_to_the_Future_-_Part_1__complete_.rar
I think these are recording sessions. It is simply titled BTTF complete. I had several copies of BTTF on my computer and one day I listened to them all and felt these had the best sound quality.
Also for the sake of completeness, here are the sessions from BTTF Part 2.
http://rapidshare.com/files/315304208/Back_to_the_Future_-_Part_2__complete_.rar
I don't think BTTF Part 2 had much original music, except for a Biff theme. Part 2 has the distinction of being the first compact disc I ever bought that was not a replacement for an LP. The digital age had indeed begun. This is heavy!
But what about part 3 you ask? I have that too, and it does feature extra music not on the CD.
I must have seen this movie in the theatre a dozen times and I NEVER thought that one day I would become a locomotive engineer, which I am by the way.
http://rapidshare.com/files/315307976/Back_to_the_Future_-_Part_3__complete_.part1.rar
http://rapidshare.com/files/315308557/Back_to_the_Future_-_Part_3__complete_.part2.rar
It was a tad over 200MB so I had to split part 3 up. You must get both parts to unpack. Enjoy.
Doc: See you in the past.
Marty: You mean the future!
Doc: Exactly!!
It has nothing to do with Simon and Garfuncle (except I did include a bonus track of their famous song sung with exquisite harmony by another group).
But I was once again taken with the artwork (which I hope you enjoy) and looking for a fitting subject to go with it, which our wonderful film composers have taken care of when they write about the subject of "silence."

I hear your moan about Rapidshare. They're really putting the squeeze on everyone. But then, you have to consider, their capacity can't be infinite, but the uploads seem to be. One high definition movie pretty much blows you out of the water. And there's a loy more of those going on their computers.

Dear friends,
I'm already on to Saint Patrick's Day in my musical celebrations of holidays and am looking for:
John Williams - Far and Away
Many thanks!
Back in my much younger years I had a chance to see a traveling Van Gogh exhibit in San Francisco. Unfortunately, most reproductions don't do the beauty of these masterpieces justice, so seeing the originals with their slathered-on paint and bold colors made a lasting impression that is still with me.
Just a small, relaxing share:
STARRY, STARRY NIGHT

We have an ever-growing group here, so maybe I'll try about once a year to find a record I've been looking for. When I had a copy, it was a 45RPM.
ANNA MARIA ALBERGETTI singing "Caro Nome."
One of those single performances of a very common popular opera aria I've never forgetten.
@ isbum
Hi buddy, welcome to December.
I hope you're over being under!
Just got home from seeing Werner Herzog's BAD LIEUTENANT: PORT OF CALL, NEW ORLEANS with Nic Cage, score by Mark Isham. Really a very cool score, and looking around online I found this: a track edited by Isham himself, offered free online out there "for the fans." :)

When I started researching cues for sea-related tracks, I couldn't avoid the influence from Elmer Bernstein's great soundtrack, THE ETERNAL SEA. I just had to use that title.
This time a little something different. To give honor where honor is due, since I borrowed the title from the movie, the least I could do was include a seperate link to Bernstein's score as well as my unrelated compilation.

TECHNICAL QUESTION:
I've come across an interesting DVD. It's a 45 min. "treat for eyes and ears that forges a stunning connection between art, technology and organic life." Not my words, but pretty descriptive.
LUMINOUS VISIONS offers 11 digitally animated cyberworlds in which to get lost.
The soundtrack is by TANGERINE DREAM and I know there's a large Tangerine Dream fan group out there.
I've never ripped a DVD before, but I'm ready to try so I can post this here.
Two questions: 1) Best ripping program to use (preferably free and 2) to what format should it be ripped for best reproduction.
I do know that I currently have the software to make an image of the DVD which can be broken up into rar or zip files and then reassembled. But I'm assuming that would be a lot of downloading.
Suggestions?

You’re very welcome for Anna Maria Alberghetti. She would have been only 15 when she recorded that.
I have been posting a few singles here during the last couple of days. You like sea-related music, and I have a beautifully arranged recording of Ebb Tide by The Living Strings - so why shouldn’t I share it with you? The intro is totally breathtaking:
http://rapidshare.com/files/316034247/LStringsEbbTide.rar
I rip soundtracks from DVDs with Audacity (freeware and user-friendly). I have the option of saving as mp3, ogg or wave. But I think the DVD audio is usually mp3 anyway (unless, I suppose, it’s Blu-Ray).

Thanks for the Ebb Tide. Even Errol Garner couldn't complain about the way the Living Strings play this.
I've got Audacity. I'm looking for something to rip the whole DVD, not just the soundtrack.
Thanks for the back-up, Southview212... :)
@Ruggo
I use "DVD Shrink 3.2" to rip a whole DVD. Free and easy to use. You can "Backup" a DVD,inclucing protected DVD's in their complete form or take out the adverts / other parts and just leave the main feature. It has worked for everything i have tried apart from the newer Region 2 Disney films from Wall E onwards. Software called "Ideal DVD Copy" will work wih those Disney films though ( the Region 1 versions only and you only get 10 useses of Ideal Copy DVD for free!)
Hope that helps.

!!! THE BLADE RUNNER SCORE !!!
In 1982 Blade Runner and Vangelis fans were put off by a "Meco" type release of the film score by The New American Orchestra. Then, in 1993 Off World Music released a limited edition boot CD of 2000 pieces. 1994 saw an "Official" Vangelis release with cues not used in the film as well as some new tracks. Many boots later, 2008 saw the release of The 25th Anniversary Trilogy 3-CD set, with previously released cues, some "Cleaner" unreleased cues that have been found on some bootlegs, and disc #3 with "Inspired by the film" music.
At best, most fans felt slighted by the "Official" releases, and most of the boots in a word... SUCK.
There never seems to be an end to the "Complete" bootleg, which brings Me to this...
There is guy who has been milking a "Blade Runner/Complete Music Collection" project for almost 2 years come february. His first post...
http://originaltrilogy.com/forum/topic.cfm/Blade-Runner-The-Complete-Music-Collection/topic/9053/
"I am ready for the trials", then it's a complete milk job to the others that are hanging on every word this dude writes. Hey, either Sh*t or get of the pot guy. Even some of the other members are getting "Concerned".
So this brings Me to putting another project together here like the To Live and Die in L.A. & Real Genius. I have most of the hard to find cues, but some of You may have better "Clean" sounding files. I recently came across 3 more cues that I haven't seen before, lucky that I was able to download them with a good bit rate from a site that was referenced from an ebay auction for a new bootleg CD. I was very surprised to find 'New' unreleased cues. There are still a few more needed cues in order to have a decent compilation for this forum.
This will be a strait forward "Clean Cues" only project, No SFX rips, there are enough bootlegs floating around with that.
If anyone is interested in contributing to this project, Please feel free to chime in on this and well compare notes.
Cheers! \ ( - _ - ) /

Treat your eyes and ears to a fantastic world created by Yoichiro Kawaguchi that forges a stunning connection between art, technology and organic life. Luminous Visions offers eleven digitally animated "cyberworlds" in which to get lost (depending on what you're smoking, you may not want to come back), filled with pulsating abstract shapes and vibrant morphing colors. Mesmerizing techno and bass beats by Tangerine Dream accompany the visuals, and an interview with Tangerine Dream is included.

Here's a tip for all the Bernard Herrmann fans here - and who isn't a Herrmann fan?
On December 15, 1941, all US radio networks simultaneously broadcast a program commemorating the 15oth anniversary of the US Bill of Rights. The program had been in the works for some time, but it took on even greater meaning following the December 7 attack on the US naval base at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, drawing the US into World War II. The score for the program was composed and conducted by Herrmann.
The fascinating old-time radio blog, Rand's Esoteric OTR, has now posted a rip of the original transcriptions of the show in very clean (but unfortunately low bit-rate) sound.
