@Big Rozsa:
Thanx for your great Mario Nascimbene compilation! I've long been looking for the Constantine and The Cross Soundtrack which it seems is only available in a currently available CD compilation along with Barabbas and Solomon and Sheba (only 4 tracks, alas!). Anyway... track 20 of your compilation is supposed to be (the Main Title? of) Constantine and The Cross, but it is actually a duplication of track 5, the Main Title of Alexander The Great, an obvious mistake. You think this can be corrected and re-uploaded????
Thanx!

@Big Rozsa

Your album:

THE BEST ARABIAN DANCES OF THE ANCIENT WORLD

is now posted over at Ruggo and Jean's Fine House Of Compilations.

Hope the cover isn't too racy!

Do you want to correct that track 5/20 duplication on Mario Nascimbene before we design album and post.

If corrected will need new link.

Regarding the prob people had with that Alex North .rar, you don't need additional software. Here's how I got around it:
Before selecting "extract," I clicked on the folder to be extracted... and noticed there was another folder...clicked it and noticed another folder.....
Well, what you do is get to the very last folder before you're going to see the actual contents. Rename THAT folder, and winrar will then rename everything.
Then, you can extract THAT folder like normal.

RonH said...

#Jeffrey Scott Arnold.

I've tried your suggestion but in that second folder rename doesn't work. It still jumps back to it's original name.

@ KevinG - I wasn't in the mood to put on my "boss" hat yesterday.

It is most definitely a SNS and will make it's retreat from here tonight.

I'm very sure that the poster didn't know.

If it becomes a regular thing, I'll just remove them immediately and answer the "why?" questions when they arise.

I hope you're Ok with that answer.
For the moment, it'll have to suffice.

KevinG said...

@Isbum

I didn't mean to be a bother, I didn't post it because I was trying to follow the rules with "in print" items.

If the poster didn't know, he/she didn't know. The SNS question is asked here fairly often, but not everyone knows, I agree.

Sorry to be an A**, and of course your answer is the final word.

Isbum said...

Seems to be a series of CD's featuring the ladies who sang with the big bands. Think it was put out by a company called Jasmine.

Of course, a similar collection should do just as well...after all the woman is in her 80's!

Ms Boricua said...

@Ruggo, that Jasmine bit helped with the name... The Ladies Sing: With The Big Bands And Beyond (2001).

I didn't find it tho. :( Altho I found Ladies' Jazz Vol. 1 thru 6 (you can find this on vagos in the jazz section btw), Ladies Sing the Swing & Ladies Sing the Blues.

Let me know or email me. I can post the links or sites in Jazz speak easy if you want. I would have to re-up Ladies Sing the Swing, unless you can open a tar file? I did open with winzip and I think winrar can open it too.

As soon as I'm done writing this I'm going to trundle my buns over to Ruggo And Jean's Fine House Of Compilations and post your wonderful MARIO NASCIMBENE Compilations. Picture of Alexader The Great on cover (in case you were thinking that was me on my high horse).

You realize there's going to have to be a volume 2 to include The Vikings & The Bible.

@ rich - Welcome to FranklyYES, here's what I have in the way of Legrands...

Gable And Lombard, LP @320 <---
Breezy, LP @320 <---
Slapstick Of Another Kind, LP @320 <---
Brian's Song, LP @320 <---
The Other Side Of Midnight, LP @320 <---
Ode To Billy Joe, LP @192 <---
Ode To Billy Joe, LP @320 <---

Some notes:
* Originally ripped by Filmmusicman on most of these.
* Thanks to Quinlan for Brian's Song.
* Slapstick Of Another Kind is really Morton Stevens, but includes tracks by Legrand.
* Ode To Billy Joe comes in two versions, someone noted the 320 version suffers from volume inconsistencies. I'm not really hearing it, so I'll leave it up to you which flavor you prefer.

Legrand Requests:
(1) Looking for a 16-track version to Never Say Never Again, see cover scans provided by Chiops at the Artwork Department. Released on both CD & LP.
(2) A good vinyl rip of Thomas Crown Affair would also be sweet.

@ big rozsa - It gives me great joy to see you now sharing with us, super! You're doing a great job on those compilations. Would you have a complete score to Constantine & The Cross?

@ josh - Sharing is easy. Rip it, zip it, upload it, and post the link. You'll see many folk using Rapidshare, just be sure to sign up for a free account first, and be logged in. Plenty of other alternatives too. Sharers do get rewarded round these parts.

@ isbum

Wow! Thanks for the long list of links. You just took a big chunk out of my list!

@ filmpac

Impressive list of Legrand links. Thank you so much! (TTW, my "Never Say Never Again" has 26 tracks...didn't know there was another one.)

@ NanM

I have a CD of the Stanyan version of "Spellbound" which also includes tracks from "Joanna," "The Borrowers" and "Around theWorld in 80 Days." But the first 11 tracks are from "Spellbound." If I can figure out how to upload, it's yours.

Ms Boricua said...

@NanM, Oh my, I'm such a doofus! Don't know how, b/c I don't remember d/ling it, but I found it in one of my hard drives, lol. Apparently I got it from a torrent site. In any case, I'll upload it now.

Ms Boricua said...

@Rich, oh that would be better, b/c it''ll be an upgrade to 320, since mine is 192 also. I can show you how if you want... just email me (link is on profile).

Ms Boricua said...

or if you have winzip... right click on the folder, go to winzip, then "add to" and that should make a zip.

Then go to megaupload.com or mediafire.com and make a free acct. I mention those b/c they are faster, pretty easy to upload to and the files seem to last longer in those if you have a free acct.

I would say rapidshare, but ppl have problems figuring out if the have a free acct and they upload to a collectors place that only lets ppl d/l 10 times.

I suck at explaining and my (poor) English doesn't help, I hope you get what I'm saying.

Ms Boricua said...

Once you make the acct, sign in and in megaupload, click browse, look for your file, enter a description, click send and wait for it to finish. Then copy the link and post it here. :P

mediafire, the same... log in, click upload files, look for the zip, then click start upload and select a folder (or my files - main folder).

Ms Boricua said...

I also said zip, b/c we have ppl here with macs and I think is easier for them, but that's just my preference. You can use winrar too.

fpalafox said...

Soundtrack Central link (for cover): http://soundtrackcentral.blogspot.com/2009/01/three-musketeers.html

While at Soundtrack Central check out scores of great posts!

Nuno Machado said...

@ Rich - That's the one.

Basicly you need to rip the CD converting to mp3 (the more the bitrate, the more the audio quality), put the files on a folder, and compress that folder by winzip or winrar.
Then you are able to upload the file via rapidshare or megaupload. When you finish the upload, you only need to copy the generated link.

More and less that's how it works. If you have some troubles doing it, just ask any folk here.

Good luck and have fun with it.

Nuno Machado said...

I always find Ms Boricua posts to be very educational :)

Rich said...

@ fpalafox

@ NanM

If I can follow Ms Boricua's instructions, your "Spellbound" request will be my first upload. I'll let you know as soon as it's up, but please be patient....I'm the new kid on the block. (Now I feel like I need to get it uploaded before someone else beats me to it!)

@ Rich - First off, welcome to this wonderful site. There are some truly wonderful people that share their scores here. Almost everyone here will go out of their way to help or answer any questions you may have.

Just enjoy being at a site where you won't be put down and your opinion matters.

Once again, welcome.

I just created a Megaupload account, does anyone know how I upload a file? I have Winrar, will I need to compress the file before uploading to Megaupload? Thanks in advance for any info.

Ms Boricua said...

@NanM, why, ty. :P I had already uploaded the file (while I made the gazillion comments earlier), so while we wait for a better rip... here's Spellbound - Miklos Rozsa. The St@ny@n version, released in '88 and @192

@Rich, you're welcome. Do you have a pc, b/c I can help with the ripping. If you have a mac, then I'll slowly back out of the room, b/c I know nothing about macs. lol

@Josh, check about 10 comments up.

josh said...

@ Ms Boricua

Thanks, I think I figured it out. What do you type in for description?

Isbum said...

@ josh - Something short.

Like "MR_Spellbound" :)

Ms Boricua said...

I feel like I need to add a warning :P... what I'm about to type is my opinion and I'm not sure if I'm right, so somebody here can correct me if I'm wrong. Phew, now that thats out of the way...

(this applies to PC users only)

For 320 kbps/mp3 rips, I use dbpoweramp. I know the best is EAC (Exact Audio Copy), but it can be very intimating at first. dbpoweramp is super easy and I think is like the 2nd best ripper out there, first being EAC(mp3-wise... I'm not talking about flacs, that's a whole other ballpark!).

dbpoweramp is the only one that works (for me) with the freedb and I also have a subscription to All Media Guide, so thats' why I prefer it.

So, go here www.dbpoweramp.com/cd-ripper.htm and d/l it. You'll have the pro version for 21 days and if you don't want to upgrade it will convert back to the free version (which is the one I use).

This is the set up guide that I used (for the 1rst time settings, etc)... www.dbpoweramp.com/cd-ripper-setup-guide.htm

Hope this helps. Like always, if you have any questions just email me. I'm sure my friends here can tell you another (maybe even easier?) way on how to rip cds. This is just my 2 cents. =)

P.S. For lossless (flacs) I do use EAC, but like I said is kinda confusing at first. That's why (since you are doing a 320 rip) I recommend dbpoweramp, just while you get your feet wet, then you can switch to EAC. And I swear I don't work for either of them, lol.

Ms Boricua said...

@Josh, you're welcome. Yea, something short or whatever. It don't matter really. :P

josh said...

"Mission" is 320 kbps I believe

Isbum said...

@ josh - Rule of thumb on SNS, if it's a commercial release and less than one year old. It's a SNS.

If it a Limited Release and not sold-out *OOP*, it's a SNS.

If it's a re-issue of an OOP Limited Release - it's a SNS. ;)

It's always nice to ask too. :)

You will find that Bette Davis & Gone With The Wind are not on listed postings either. They were posted earlier by two wonderful persons.

@ Javier - Take a trip over to Mindy's shop. You should be able to find all show show musicals there.

I always enjoyed this film; Nyman's score is pretty minimalist but lovely. Here you go...

End of the Affair - Michael Nyman

I am trying to figure out what the bit rate is. I am using dBpoweramp for the first time, once I discover I will post bit rates in the future.

Requests:

King of Kings complete - Rosza

Star Trek III: Search for Spock - Horner

American Anthem - Silvestri

Big Rozsa, my friend....I might be wrong, but think "Dead Men Don't Wear Plaid" was even one of his later scores than "Feodora", etc.

MC...I only know of the Red Shoes Ballet, by Brian Easdale. There was once an LP with the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra...conducted by Remoortel, I believe. (Was he the one who committed suicide...or was that another conductor?) I'd like to have a complete score of the film, as well...especially the section called "Heart Of Fire", which was never completely played, in the film. I really enjoyed that opening, though! You might remember, in the film, it was composed by Julian Kraster (Marius Goring), and someone had stolen it from him. Both Marius Goring and Moira Shearer have passed on. Anton Walbrook was great in the film, as the ballet impresario...you might also remember he played a role (Polish aviator) in "Suicide Squadron" (which used Addinsell's "Warsaw Concerto"

03. By the river
04. Gypsy camp
05. Love theme and Gypsy dance
06. Finale
07. Three coins in the fountain (Bonus Track)

@ Ruggo

Thank you so much for the shares; both have been requests for a long time.

Jan A. P. Kaczmarek's score for the Third Miracle is one that I wish was more well known. It is so uplifting, I hope others feel the same. Enjoy!!
