@ budarc - I see. So Bryon has to monitor quite a few blogs every day.

Hopefully, we can show him that we are going to remain in compliance quickly, so he can focus on other blogs.

A few requests:

- "Hollywood Goes To War" and "War! - Themes From World War II Movies" from 3i!v@ 3cre-n.

- The hour-long bootleg of Tiomkin's "Giant" (I already have the OST) .

- The Tsun@mi 1CD bootleg of Max Steiner's "Helen of Troy" (already have the 2cd and Bernstein collection versions). If the 1CD edition of Spartacus from this label can be found somewhere, that too would be nice to have.

- I still haven't haven't found the Tiomkin/Rozsa compilation "Great Epic Film Scores". If someone can find this, and possibly also rip the Exit Music from the DVD of "Fall of the Roman Empire" (it's NOT the "Intermezzo" piece from "More Music From..."), I would be most grateful.

Doctor Go said...

@Joona

Fairly large music.

http://www.megaupload.com/?d=TQ636MDN

I can't remember where I found it, so the usual thanks go out to the original uploader.

Isbum said...

@ All - Comment Moderation is off for now.

I just ask again that you please not post any music released on Varese Sarabande.

Verify all music with Soundtrack Collector to be sure that the material has never been released on this label, even if it was merely re-issued by them.

It's simple, we will be left alone IF we comply with the C&D notice.

I'm not big on rules, but this one has to be followed.

Just a quick question: Is the SNS/TWS gone for good?

Because between this catastrophe over here and the fact that FFS has been down all week, I haven't really been able to get my new release fix, which is mostly what I stay in this business for.

Oh sure, there are a couple of other blog/sites that host a few links here and there, but I always came here as the DEFINITIVE place to go for everything new and exciting.

If so, this is a sad event indeed. And VS can go suck it.

Isbum said...

@ budarc - The time's they are a changin'.

No need to hate on them specifically, the industry has been trying to put this genie back in the bottle for over 10 years now.

It's why I encouraged everyone to form friendships here.

If you have friends who collect soundtracks, it's time to email them and see if they have your "fix" or not.

Time was when you could make friends on soundtrack message boards, but lately they've become hostile environments loaded with bully's and alpa-jerks who spend all day looking for someone to fight with.

Another sad development for the score community, IMO.

Isbum said...

@ Big E - Regarding the "Lone Wolf" you seek.
According to Soundtrack Collector, composer Francisco DeMasi was cashing multiple checks in 1995.

Varese/Colosseum and Beat Records released the score in the same year.

You could request the Beat release ONLY down in the Euro shop.

NL197 said...

@ isbum, you hit the nail on the head.

Soundtrack forums are about the worst places around, because everyone there has such disgusting, elitist attitudes and the stench of superiority coming from the lot of them is too much to breathe in. The relentless personal attacks they launch on both composers and each other is the definition of pathetic, as if anything they say ultimately matters in the real world.

Does anyone have the score for The Iron Giant?

Magnus said...

@ isbum

I am not really surprised for the industry hits; I am surprised instead for how long he was in stand by on your great soundtrack Agorà on the web.
As I already wrote in my first post, thanks to your blog and this wonderful community I knew the other side of the OST moon, buying a lot of original Cds from SAE after downloading them here, and I don't think to be the only one.
Anyway, I may suggest one more method to find "fix": peer to peer. Why not to create a sort of community on Slsk for example?

Finally, many thanks to Wisconsin friend for Quincy!

Big Rózsa said...

@Madman

My sense of humor has been dragged into a back alley and beaten severely.
After a few days in the emergency room, I was wondering if it would ever recover.

Then I read this.

Bill Gates has teamed up with the recording industry to develop a program that get's back at the file sharing community.

It's called "The Leno 2010".

The program installs on your home computer at 10:00 Pm. Then, at 11:30 it begins repossessing all the music you have on your hard drive that was downloaded illegally.

What? You thought they were going to knock on your door and ask for it?

Actually, that's Phase 2, and you'd better rent a storage unit in a terrible neighborhood to put your external hard drives in.

Hit it June! :)

Both filmpac & THXjay have left the blog.

Fact is, the loss of those guys has left me bereft and depressed.

Just trying to heal my mood with some humor.
Bear with me while I work through these feelings.

Ruggo said...

@isbum

I don't understand the term "left the blog." Can't comprehend anybody bailing at this time unless it is to establish some alternatives in which we can all participate and provide a vehicle of continuation should one ever be required.

However, if the term "left the blog" is simply self-explanatory, please be assured that there are many more of us who will be here, steadfast and active members in the wonderful community you have created.

In the meantime, if there is anything I can do to help I remain available to assist in any manner possible.

Isbum said...

@ Ruggo - Thanks my friend.
Perhaps they'll be back.

Rocket From Mars said...

@ isbum---I'm also a little confused by your recent post...what exactly do you mean by 'left the blog'? Did they resign? Are you talking about an Elvis kind of situation as in: "Elvis has left the building."? Are they just a little tired and taking a bit of a break from the blog-o-sphere? If you don't mind could please elucidate on that comment? (Yours, not mine. ;) ).

Personally, the last round of craziness has dampened my spirits (My friends and I can't get into the old Vinyl Adventures archives which is a bit of a drag). I realize you've been the point man and it must really SUCK...but hey! that's why we affectionately refer to you as 'Fearless Leader'

Remember...keep smiling and blog or no blog, music sharing or no music sharing, the majority of us really love hanging out at this 'party' because of you! Our host with the most! (Most what? I haven't a clue..but it's gotta be good!)

"The General With The Cockeyed Id"
came on the boot Lp with "Coogan's Bluff", but the Schifrin was all I got.

Dang! I guess it's the hook & rim-shot for me now.

@Count Istvan

Now we know isbum's problem. He's been rubbing his Gwanji all this time when he should have been smoking it. Tommy Chong could have 'splained that.

@ Isbum
Are you a contortionist?

@ Dr Go
Even though your long hook gave me a pain in the neck, I THINK (definite emphasis on THINK) that I MIGHT (double emphasis on MIGHT) have TGWTCI on a bootleg CD at home. I'll lecher know when I get home from work in a kupla hours.

Count Istvan said...

@ Dr Go

Eureka! Please... no boom-boom comebacks about me not smelling so good either.

My Boot CD has The General With the Ideyed... OOPS, you know what I mean, joined together, all as one long track, with City of Fear, which I know is up on Tony's turntable site. Do want the whole thing as on my CD, or do you want me to split them and just upload General?

Count Istvan said...

Belay that previous bilge. CD does have 2 tracks; it's just that media player read it as only one. Am converting General now and will up soon. Watch this space...

Count Istvan said...

@ fdfdfdfd

You're welcome.

The Big Country tracks on the Coogan's Bluff boot LP were some of the same tracks that were later on the SAE complete soundtrack CD in the deluxe LP-sized box; which was later re-released by SAE in a normal CD case; which I believe has since been re-re-released by LaLaLand. If you've got the SAE/SAE/LaLaLand Big Country CD you've got all the tracks that were on the Coogan's Bluff LP.

@VF-1A,
Thank you for the Trek covers. I never doubted they were real, I just didn't know where they came from. Now I know. Japan. That explains how they have artwork nobody's ever seen before.
Interesting side note, I looked at the track list, (Which is the same as the VS,) but the actual episode titles themselves are different.

In Japan,
Movie series are original name of "Star Trek".
but,TOS was named 'Space big operation(Utchu Daisakusen)".
and,
whenever every time broadcasting again,these episode title is different each.

@all,

And,further...
I have Francis Lai's very rare album(1993/KICP-356).
Is this "13 Jours En France (1968)" necessary for you?

@Steven64 and Doctor Go,

In Japan's TV,
Name of some crews of Enterprise's...It is as follows.

James Kirk is "Captain.Kirk",
Spock is "Mr.Spock",
Leonard McCoy is "Dr.McCoy",
Chekov is "Chekov" and Uhura was "Ura".
(The above-mentioned name... Everyone can understand easy or somehow.)
but!
Scotty was "Charlie” and Sulu was named "Mr.Kato"

A long time till then...
Everyone including me believed their names are these.

when I saw the Star Trek's first movie...
(Secretly!)They were corrected to the original name.
Therefore,
"Sulu is who?" or " Who is Scotty?"
...I was confused very much.

Now I think that this is a funny story.
I did laughing about this happening.

Doctor Go said...

@DL Warner

With some free time on my hands, I've been watching episodes of the original Star Trek. It's harder these days to get engaged with the series because William Shatner is such an overacting ham.

I kind of wonder how the Japanese voice actor interprets Shatner's overacting?

For all my friends:

My son just sent me a link to this fabulous 5 minute film.

Most things with grandiose titles seldom live up to their potential, but this one does.

It is an amazing short film beginning with Carl Sagan looking back at the earth from the depths of space and the filmmaker has illustrated much of Sagan's wisdom with clips from the films which continue to make up our collective consciouness.

Enjoy:

http://gizmodo.com/5513783/the-world-would-be-better-if-everyone-watched-this-video

My feeling is that blogs like this and communities which have been built such as ours are an important and necessary continuation of that collective consciousness.

Thank you all for still being here.

Who is "GOJIRA"?
I do not understand well in information only on it.
but,
Perhaps,Hideki Matsui of LAA of Major League...
Mr.Matsui is called "GOJIRA" from Japanese peoples.
If I say an unrelated thing, I'm sorry.

Regardless of the number (or lack thereof) of a "thankyou" now and then, I believe your and the others' work is greatly appreciated more than you know.

I call your attention to the recent section providing comments regarding difficulties in blogsville: Did you notice how many e-mail addresses came out of the woodwork, wishing to hitch a ride to any new blog?

None of these people may be offering thanks for what you provide...but they are there and a very quiet part of the community who surely appreciate the hard work.
