Thank you both for sharing!

I hope we can still locate my other requests.

"Il Corbaro Nero"
by Gino Peguri

"Kapo"
by Carlo Rusticelli & Gillo Pontecorvo

"Don Camillo E I Giovan' D'Oggi"
by Carlo Rusticelli

And one more that I have at a low bit rate. I would love hearing this at 320!
"Lo Squartatore Di New York"
by Francesco De Masi

Thanks for anything you can provide!

Here's a quirky little promotional score. It's for an upcoming Nintendo Wii video game called "Eternity's Child". It's by a Sean Beeson, it's only like 5 tracks, but it has a really cool Danny Elfman vibe to it. Fun and quirky stuff. enjoy!

by the way, anyone happen to have a high quality version of the Point Break Original Soundtrack? =)

I'm not on the road anymore, I'm home! Maybe it's turning 47 that's done it?? Did I just say "47"? How did THAT happen??!!!?!??LOL

Isbum said...

@ bistis6 - Welcome to the "How did I Get Here?" years. Think I had my mid-life crisis somewhere between 45 and 49. ;)

@ segroeg - You are my BEST Friend today! Thanks for another one off my request list. Joy! Joy! now put the knife away, please. ;)

@Isbum Thank ya sir for the rejected bond!

@filmpac - Actually Ferrio's "Puzzle" link IS invalid. Are there any other links for it about town?

And on a personal note I can't get any files to finish uploading on ANY sharing sites. VUT THE FU? I compiled a One Theme - Several Variations of 'Ghost Riders In the Sky' with a whopping 55 versions i've been trying to put up for weeks now. Ah well, who the heck would've wanted that anyway...

Thanks alot

@J.
I did get the links to Bill And Ted to work, and I was able to download part two, but I am having an insurmountable problem with part one of the archive. I am cursed with a slow unreliable dial-up connection, and with the large size of part one I cannot complete the download before my connection drops and I lose everything......forcing me to start all over from scratch. I have tried and tried, and it is proving to be nothing but an excersize in frustration. Is there any way that you could post part one to MegaUpload? That is the only sharing service that I can resume broken downloads from.

Hello, guys!

Long ago an illuminated pal posted here the 10k bc score... I offered the front and back covers, however I went on vacation and forgot to post them here. Some days ago I saw the original front cover, and mine is very close to the real release... I guess it's good... does anyone still want it? Can I post it?

Cheers,

That was I who did the post. Yes, send the link - would like to see what you did. (BTW - The cover for the commercial release is terrible - can barely make out the composer's names.)

After the official release comes out, I will load up a more definitive version of the score... that's if anyone is interested?

@christine

heres the all new megaupload link http://www.megaupload.com/?d=IJK4FAUU it includes just the Bogus Journey score, as that was initially all you wanted, and I didnt want you to have to download more than you need, still you want the Excellent Adventure score, just let me know and I'll reupload it to mega as well. enjoy!

Thanks so much for going to all that effort. I will be getting that downloaded tomorrow night for sure. I am comitted to doing one for my son tonight, but I will be getting at it very soon.

@ comeback shane - My bad, the Puzzle link is still good, but had a "br" (break) tag at the end. Should look like this:

@ isbum - I got you covered on the two Rustichelli's, so don't race out and buy them just yet. Will be a day or two though. And thanks for the Schifrin rarities, when I get to them. Ditto Q for the remastering.

Christine Cougar said...

@J.
Just a quick P.S.
I did manage to get Excellent Adventure downloaded from Rapidshare, but only just. The connection dropped mere minutes after it finished!

Anyone have a line on the promo (16min) of Carter Burwell's score to "No Country For Old Men?" Here is an excerpt from an online article about it..

"Burwell didn't think his score - being so short, all of 16 minutes - would be eligible for an Oscar nomination, nor did he really want to submit it for Academy consideration, but at the behest of Miramax he did so."

@ isbum - First of your Rustichelli's. Seems to be a rather odd ticking noise on track #7 "The Wash-House", think of it as a leaky tap and you'll never notice. Mebbe it is, at least that's my story and I'm sticking to it...

Carlo Rustichelli "Kapo" (1959), @320:
http://rapidshare.com/files/94630530/CR-Kapo.zip

And as a bonus, here's the B-side from the same Cinevox release of Kapo. I remember seeing this at the drive-in as the second movie with I think "Kelly's Heroes" (or might have been "Castle Keep", it was a long time ago). With Jason Robards, Peter Falk & Martin Landau in the cast, it's a quirky little Italian war comedy. Love the English title...

Carlo Rustichelli "Rosolino Paternò: Soldato... (aka Situation Normal, All Fouled Up)" (1970), @320:

@ filmpac - Track # 7 from "Kapo" is a total wash on my end.
It just breaks up into bits.
Does anyone have a replacement track for it?
The score is reminiscent of Herrmann's "Battle of Neretva", very strong and compelling.
I see the film get's shown on TCM now and again. Must keep an eye out for it. Thanks filmpac!

I, too, hope the NO COUNTRY FOR OLD MEN score gets issued soon, now that the film is now an Academy Award winner.

There are two edited-down tracks on carterburwell.com, but they don't slake one's thirst. That end credits song is just terrific! :)

To redeem my utter failure to not check it out sufficiently prior to uploading (I speed-skimmed tracks, not enough time), please to accept most humble apologies. Plus a bonus Rustichelli not seen posted before...

@ ruggo - Agreed, also most happy to see those appalling songs from Enchanted NOT win the Oscar. I know that very few original songs get written for films nowadays, but that was just ridiculous!

@ mustvid - No full scores for "Spencer's Mountain" or "Almost Famous", nada, nothing. But I do have a "Harry And The Hendersons" bootleg, will dig it up soon.

Fidel J. said...

I totally agree about the whole Enchanted/original song debacle. I understand that once Di$ney stopped making "Classic" animated movies that original songs would decline, but its fairly ridiculous that 3! songs from one milk toast movie were nominated. Enchanted is nothing more than a retread satire of classic Di$ney anyway. Though in retrospect, I am glad that enchanted got three noms, as they probably canceled each other out and made room for the Once song to win, heh.

Q1. I'm inquisitive about how you judge a score . A score which works smooth in the movie or which is pleasant to hear on audio . Ooh and btw I even want to inquire how do you buy a CD ?!
Do you get the score after watching a movie or the ones which are hit on score box office ?!

http://rapidshare.com/files/95015575/BB-HarryHendersons.zip

@ bistis6 - Thanks for the heads-up at The Inferno, oh man, that has proved sooo elusive for sooo long. That, and looking at the just announced new Varese Club releases (nothing terribly exciting there), got me to thinking just how many great scores STILL go unreleased to this day, while others get re-released, re-hashed, re-recorded ad infinitum. Cheers!

Mordecai said...

Isbum said...

:( does anyone like our new home for the Franklynot Projects?

crickets...

filmpac said...

@ isbum - Sure, it looks just fine and dandy mate. Only problem I have (and I somehow suspect it is mine and mine alone) is that sometimes I can't see the sidebars at The Crime Lounge. I need to right click and select all, then fumble around in the not quite as dark as it was to find them.

Apart from that, they look bewdiful when I get onto the page. Kudos to you and Jay!

Isbum said...

@ filmpac - Is the box here too small?
I want them to get noticed so we have more contributors.

filmpac said...

@ isbum - Oh, I see! We got a box here too! Jolly jolly. Um, well, let's see... I missed seeing it. Does this mean it's too small or just that I never look up there in the corner? Probably the latter. Apart from that, it's fine.

While we are giving the room a spruce up, is there a way of making the Requests open automatically to "Newest" instead of "Oldest"? I still get fooled, and curse out ScoreTooth for being a numbnuts because of his question about the Western Project, last post on the bottom of the first page. Sorry ScoreTooth, please forgive everything I ever muttered about you, I'm sure you're really not a m#$&*%*@@ bleepard;)

Christine Cougar said...

By chance, would anyone here have the complete score to "The Shadow" by Jerry Goldsmith?

Isbum said...

@ filmpac - I thought so. THXjay suggested I make it a regular post, but I figured maintaining it at the top was going to be a hassle.

Your "open to newest post" question is a good one. Wonder if anyone at Blogger Help has asked about that?

Also, someone has mentioned the Bond Project suffers from "clipping".
Tripmastermonk agreed that it's a problem. Do you think we should re-master the project at a lower level?

filmpac said...

@ isbum - The short answer is nothing spectacularly wrong with the Bond Project... that I heard.

However, a closer look reveals that Mp3Gain does indeed reckon otherwise. Looks like volumes have been equalized to close on 100 dB, which is certainly quite high. In my previous blurb to Ennioman, I recommended a volume in the high-80 to low-90 range. Mp3Gain's default setting is 89 dB.

I note that the volume gain has indeed been set into the tags. So, this can easily be reduced using Mp3Gain, without damage to the original mp3 files. It's a quick and painless process to fix at my end. I'll leave it up to you guys to decide if a total repost is required for others.

FYI, "clipping" does indeed indicate distortion due to sound levels being too high.

Well, i've got 3 more request... *blush* It's the expanded scores for the LOTR trilogy, all are dvd-rip.
Here's the back covers:
http://filmmuziek.xs4all.nl/cd_covers/other/T-Z/FOTR%20Extended%20Back%20DA%20Des%20%2055.jpg
http://filmmuziek.xs4all.nl/cd_covers/other/T-Z/TTT%20Extended%20Back%20DA%20Des.jpg
http://filmmuziek.xs4all.nl/cd_covers/other/T-Z/ROTK%20Extended%20Back%20DA%20Des.jpg
I've found the FOTR on a turkish forum about 3 years ago, but sadly it was ripped in 56kb and didn't sound great. But even with this, i love it and i'm dying to find the 3 scores. I usually didn't bother with sfx, if they're not loudest than the music, but for the LOTR scores sfx are just great, the music is more powerful... Anyone got the cds (or at least one of these, even in 128 kb)?

Isbum said...

Here's a score that isn't listed on Soundtrack Collector.
Composer worked on many film in his homeland or island of Cuba.
Most known score is "Like Water for Chocolate".

"Alsino y el Condor" 1982 Lp @320
by Leo Brouwer

http://rapidshare.com/files/95275035/LB_AlsinoYelCondor.zip

A whopping 38 tracks comprise what I believe is the actual score as recorded for the film.
The theme and variations can be a tad repetitive, but these are so short it doesn't drag the pace down.

@ tony - I think you'll enjoy this.
As always, post if you wish.

I'll check back before uploading, if anyone else can help out first, please do so. I'd be mighty grateful. All that needs to be done is to normalize all track volumes to say 92 dB (works best for me), using Mp3Gain, and re-upload. Ta.

Hello everyone,

Just wanted to take a sec and say hello. I may be away again for a while, as I'm amidst a move from my apartment into a house. I'm excited, but the stress of packing during the school year is not something I'm enjoying.

I also wanted to ask for your prayers for Mel. Mel's town of Ashkelon, Israel, was bombed today. One rocket landed in his area. He let me know that he's okay (I was terrified all day), but their area is in chaos right now. Please keep him in your thoughts.

I hope everyone is doing well. I'm hoping for some normalcy again soon, so that I can come back to my friends!

Reur post of February 14 with some Russian soundtracks.
I understand the first one is called "The Master And Margarita" - Main Theme.
Do you have an artist name for it for the monthly link list?
The second one is a documentary called "Criminal Russia". Again an artist name would nicely complete the post.
It seems that the third one is also from "The Master And Margarita". Do you have a track or album title with the artist name?
Thank you for kind attention.

Ruggo said...

@sallie

Thoughts and prayers are with both you and Mel.

Moving: Good opportunity to toss out the old and start anew.

Bombings: Had a lot of friends in Israel when all hell was breaking loose about 20 years or more ago. They went everywhere with gas masks and with constant air raid alerts, headed for crowded bomb shelters. All survived. All eventually thrived.

Took my kids there on a business trip about 15 years ago. Cafe we ate at in Jerusalem was blown up a week after we left and the plaza next to our hotel in Tel Aviv went the same way about a month later.

Hopefully Mel and all his family and friends will also stay one step ahead of the crazies.

@ quinlan - I didn't receive your email.
Something funny is going on, I have written you 3 or 4 times now and gotten no replies.
Perhaps I have the wrong address.

@ my good friends isbum, tony and quinlan

I appreciate very much your kind concerns for my safety. The problems here seem to be ongoing for the moment and I hope it won't be too long before they are satisfactorily resolved. Thank you all very much.

@ h2o

I have had copies of David Meeker's books "Jazz In The Movies", both the first and second editions, since they were published many years ago, and have always found them indispensable. I have long wanted a more updated edition but have not been able to come across one until now. Your contribution of this new one is invaluable and I am deeply grateful to you.

My best wishes to all.

@ Mark
Next week, I will post some Cinemania Reels for you.

@ mel
Really glad you enjoyed it. For a long time, I have seen the book "Jazz in the Movies" in a vision.
Now the dream has come true !

I have the Phantasm Laserdisc box set and included in it was a 24K gold CD of the soundtrack.
I've just ripped this for Michael's Inferno Music Crypt and thought maybe some of the folks here may like a copy :)

@320 with full cover scans

Phantasm

Not sure if the gold layer makes it sound any better but I guess it stops it from going rusty :)

A little O.T., but I figured someone might have insight:
Anyone know of Private or Public Blogs for Broadway/off-Broadway cast album downloads?

@ isbum
I just resent my yesterday email.
I don't think it's an address problem since I did receive yesterday your "Just a proposed idea" subject email and, as explained in the email which you did not receive and that I just resent, I also received only yesterday your February 23 email. This is the reason why I had not answered to it yet.
Don't worry, we shall overcome.
Just a little note, we are in March now. You should close the February thread otherwise we're going to have March in February.
Thank you to acknowledge receipt of my email.
Cheers
