Many thanks to the original poster.

Thank you, Segroeg. Really great film, that one; one of my all-time favourites.

surpisingly good record with only flute acoustic guitar interplay. beautiful lilting melodies. apparently this is a comedy set in africa during the 'roman' times. you wouldn't think from the music.

@ segroeg - Evil Baby! The .mp3 has a character in "fantomas" that shut my player down twice even though I changed the file name.
Just a word of caution for others, pain may ensue when the big red X appears.

I have to admit the format of this site is rather daunting, easy to get lost in the shuffle. especially when you start downloading about 8 albums in a row! so much good stuff here i still haven't gotten to the first page! thanks to everyone who has shared here and thanks isbum for hosting this great site...this is seriously the best blog for italian soundtracks any where on the 'net.

Isbum said...

@ library209 - I know what you mean about the format. Blogs with pages and pages of records pictured with links below them are very convenient for leecher's. They don't talk much.

I like to know who I'm giving music to and I think most people here do as well.

Less downloads - More friendships!

That's my motto! :)

@ All - I'm very curious about the Remastered "Mandingo" recordings from the 1970's. How many albums were treated to Cd remastering?
I just nabbed "Primevil Rhythm of Life" at 192kbt and would sure like hearing more!

Blog links are fine if they're posted elsewhere, but if you got 'em in your files could you post them here for me please?

Thanks!

Isbum said...

@ tripmaster - I 2nd your statement.
Amazing that they were around long enough to actually run through the whole back catalog!
That's a feat of astounding magnitude!
I remember a guy who put up just 2 new releases from one of the big Italian labels and was summarily crushed for it.
Morricone Lover has been posting newly released expanded Morricone's weeks after they became available.

One hell of a run! Somebody has a couple of extra hard drives packed to the max with all those soundtracks. Ruggo? ;)

library209 said...

RIP to morricone lover...what a great blog...

i have noticed people are pretty stern about anything that has been reissued...if you do a search on just about any record that has been easy tempoed etc. it is not there...i even had the link on my blog for the tropicals deleted even though only half that album was reissued and i was emailing people the link instead of sharing it to the wider public...

Isbum said...

@ library209 - It seems pointless to bother with having people take down Lp rips once they've reissued it on Cd. I would think if someone loved the record they would buy it so they didn't have to listen to all the crackling and pops every time.

Seems illogical. Doesn't it?
If anything, having heard the Lp could only raise awareness.

Apart from this great vinyl, the total score could be found on the CD called Polnareff : Les premieres années CD2

Isbum said "It seems pointless to bother with having people take down Lp rips once they've reissued it on Cd. I would think if someone loved the record they would buy it so they didn't have to listen to all the crackling and pops every time."

I totally agree but copyright and intellectual property rights make you in the wrong if you share it. I personally don't agree with it, but it makes sense that someone would want to get it taken down...lost revenue for them if they are reissuing it. I try to keep my shares to stuff that isn't reissued (and will probably never be reissued), even though technically that stuff is copyright protected too, even if the record label is defunct and the artist is dead (which is the case with a lot of italian libraries).

tripmaster said...

i agree, unfortunately lots of these defunct record labels eventually got caught up in mergers and acquisitions, and usually fall under one of the mega 4 emi, warner, bmg/sony, and universal. sad thing about library records, is that the original composers and artists probably do not own the publishing or the copyrights for these works, as they were most likely done as "works made for hire", where the label will retain all rights...which means they will be the ones enforcing. dunno what the point of all that babbling was but just thought i'd chime in!! lol.

Good to know you have archived the entire collection Segroeg. My requests for anything I missed will have your name on them. ;)

Good day!

The program of Russian soundtracks is continued by more serious music than in my previous post.
Today we have soundtrack to a cult Russian TV series "Seventeen Instants of Spring" (1973). It's about mission of the Soviet secret agent during the World War II. Music is composed by Michael Tariverdiev. It's very lyrical and, despite the series name, is more autumn on mood. Basically it consists of instrumental tracks, but includes also two vocal tracks.
Released in 2005.

@ Stumble on this,

thanks a lot for the good job, I appreciated. Unfortunately that is only the Morricone sountrack of the 3° episode directed by Pier Paolo Pasolini. Honestly I didn't even know there was a soundtrack of just that episode available around, therefore, double thanks!

The good new about the rare unreleased 28 tracks version I was looking for, is that I'm in touch with an italian LP collector who is sending me a CD of it.
Once I get it, I'll upload it quickly for the joy of Piccioni's aficionados

@dimich

thanks for the hot tip!

SQ said...

Have a gift for you Piccioni lovers,
I've just uploded the original (rare) full version of "Le streghe" (58 tracks...)

so far Piero's part seemed to be impossible to find, especially the main theme and variations (tracks n°38 to 52)

http://rapidshare.com/files/146410044/Morricone_Piccioni_Le_streghe.zip

@ Stumble on this

the mistery about the proveniance of the 22 tracks is just solved, they are certainly part of this album.

...sorry, no covers (I've put just one jpg found on the net)
and no tracklist......not yet

Somebody requested some Franco Tamponi, but now I can't find the original request. Anyhow, I don't think this is the one requested, but we're getting close. A compilation of mondo music...

Franco Tamponi "Donna Sexy Di Notte", @192:
http://rapidshare.com/files/150097640/FT-DonnaSexyDiNotte.zip

Dusty Grooves had this to say:
Sultry jazziness galore from composer Franco Tamponi -- mondo grooves that roll effortlessly from easygoing movie jazz, to rollicking mod burlesque sounds, with touches of Latin jazz and moddish grooves! The sounds are far more diverse than you might be expecting, from brassy jazz, to cheeky, international sex comedy soundscapes -- with mod bits and even strains of early garage rock in the compositions! The sounds are often as big and boisterous as they are sexy and intimate, mostly acoustic, but heavily so! The 24 tracks are all composed, orchestrated and conducted by Franco Tamponi -- taken from Mino Loy mondo movies.

Belated thanks to all for some wonderful shares of late, I haven't got to most of them yet, but what I have is super. Thx for Gaslinis, Piccionis, Umilianis, Grapellis... more spaghettini than you can shake a meatball at:))

i know this is a long shot but does anyone know the original record that the theme song to curb your enthusiasm comes from ? it is by michelini...

If you mean "Frolic", I'm also very curious about that, it's the only tune of the album I've not been able to go back to the original source.

@ Jimi Vampiro of Sardinia,

With thanks to the original ripper, here is Bruno Nicolai's
Mission Speciale: Lady Chaplin @192

Request:
Trovajoli's "Sette uomini d'oro"
(not "Il grande colpo di sette uomini d'oro").

Thanks.
:)

@ Isbum,

Check out this YouTube of the Gianni Ferrio Orchestra in action in 1984.

Isbum said...

@ 3420 - Wow! I love her chicken walk, hilarious! Late night guy, Conan O'Brian does these various passes at the camera during his monologues. Funny stuff!

Did you get Ferrio's Orchestral Salute to Piero Piccioni?
Jason and I are working on a once a month tribute to composers and I'll be posting the Ferrio along with over 40 Piccioni soundtracks soon.

Always a pleasure to fulfil your requests, my friend.

@3410

I think the Trovaioli is too high-pitched, don't you ?
Perhaps you can fix it?

Isbum said...

@ Segroeg - I have another version (I hope it's different) of Seven Golden Men uploading now.
At the least we can check them against each other to determine if "pitch" is the problem.

One moment please...

"Seven Golden Men" Lp @320

Thanks, guys. :)

Segroeg,
Pitch is right, just a fairly rough LP, I think. Isbum's copy is definitely worth the upgrade but in any case it's one of those reprosessed-mono jobs which never sound fantastic.

Isbum,
Don't think I did get the Ferrio/Piccioni thing of which you speak. Looking forward to your tribute fest.

tropicals - urubamba

library with jazz funk and afro percussion over dubbed by barigozzi

please don't share this one. half of it is reissued on optical sound by easy tempo.

@ library209 - Thanks for dropping in with these great records!
If ever you'd prefer sharing music for a limited time it's fine with me.

Just let Quinlan know the link is limited, so he avoids adding it to the Monthly Excel Spread Sheet.

It's fine also, to ask folks not to share them outside of this forum.
People who do that always get caught and look stupid for trying to get away with it anyway.

But that's another bag of crisps, isn't it? ;)

library209 said...

yeah if you could limit the tropicals so it doesn't appear in the archives, that would be great. i can't believe i can actually find records you guys don't have! amazing this site is.

Hey all, while were at the top of the page, I'd like to let you in on Janus2810's upcoming Cd release!

The following was what he told me:

Hi Everybody!

Just wanted to let you all know, our CD is coming out on October 6th, opening party is at Hugh's room. Our website is up and running, all the details are there:

http://www.rubbernecksite.com

It's a bluegrass album, some of you may not know that about me, but yes, I do play bluegrass! Check out the website, buy a CD, drop us a line! :) This CD has been in the works for a long time, but, it's finally done!

Hope to see some of you that don't live overseas there!

Cheers

Janus

isbum says... you just never know who among us are talented beyond having great taste in music!

library209 said...

thanks isbum for giving some publicity to janus. i ordered 4 already :)

library209 said...

oh yeah this one is sort of obscure (don't think it's ever been reissued in any form)

stelvio cipriani - le mataf

french movie that i see for sale a lot but have never heard.

Isbum said...

@ library209 - Bluegrass and Christmastime! Who the heck could have a sour holiday finding that Cd in their stocking?

You got a link for that there Cipriani? :)

library209 said...

oh sorry i was making a request...i've read so much of these archives i feel like my brain is going to explode!

Piero Piccioni - La Commare Secca (1962)

Isbum said...

@ H2o - That was a couple of months ago, some guy was swearing that his brother had a Cd of "Planet Sauvage" and we waited ...and waited...and gave up waiting for him to send us a link. Thanks for remembering! I'll upgrade now. :)

Also H2o, your timing is perfect for a Piccione. Keep a lookout for our first in a monthly series of Tributes to various composers.
Piero Piccioni is our first!

@ isbum

Thanks for the CD plug my friend! Much appreciated! I know it's universes away from Euro scores, but, hey, nobody ever accused me of being musically one-sided! :)
