Becuase Isbum won't be around for the May changeover we are opening a little early this month! (different timezones)
Isbum wanted to make a small change to the site name and banner to reflect the "Can do" attitude of the amazing people here. He felt that "FranklyNOT" was a little negative so we've changed it to the more positive FranklyYES!
If you haven't already noticed it, go take a look :)
I'm sure isbum will add his thoughts when he manages to get back on his feet. Until then, carry on as usual :)
And don't forget that if you missed anything from April's Filmscorium you can get back to it in the sidebar archives.
@Ms Boricua - This is gunshotwound. I just shortened my name. Here is the link for the Auric post. Not my rip. Thanks to the original uploader. Classic Film Music of Georges Auric 2 (25@320) http://www.sendspace.com/file/2odosc <--
@abby - Go to this site Here and download the first WinRar program. Compress all the tracks in your file just like you would zip them. Once all the files are compress into the RAR, upload the RAR at SendSpace. That is all there is to it. You can also extract files with this program.
@GilinAZ - I already had this uploaded. The Red Balloon - Maurice Le Roux (lp-1@320) This is taken from the LP and it was ripped as one continous track. Not my rip. Thanks to the original uploader. http://www.sendspace.com/file/k9c9z1 <--
You may also want to download Abby's when she gets it uploaded. From what she is saying, hers is seperated into individual tracks.

Does anyone has Pino Donaggio's Hercules (Intrada OOP) in lossless, please?
Ned Kelly (2003) (by Klaus Badelt) (in lossless) [posted on April ;), post here just so may be noticed again] http://rapidshare.com/files/227438800/KB-2003NK-aS-a.zip http://rapidshare.com/files/227442785/KB-2003NK-aS-b.zip

@ Wild: It was me who requested it ;) Noticed the first post, but didn't have the chance to answer earlier. Anyway, thank you sooo much for Ned Kelly in lossless, really appreciate this share!!!
@ Dannyboy: You recently asked for Track 10 of Tyler's complete score for The Greatest Game Ever Played. I uploaded this single track, this version should be fine, it's @ 320: http://rapidshare.com/files/227862426/10_track_10.mp3
Enjoy!
@ all: If anyone is interested in the full version of the complete score for Brian Tyler's The Greatest Game Ever Played, please let me know.
Here is a really nice adventure score, by J.A.C. Redford, from 1995. It's "A Kid In King Arthur's Court". It's @320 w/ the complete artwork at the Artwork Dept.
@ Wild: Didn't know that you posted it already. My version has 48 tracks @ 320. How many tracks does yours have? If you have the same one, I (of course) don't need to post it.
@ all: Wanna request 2 scores, as always, any help is highly appreciated: Pheloung, Johnston, Hinchliffe - Red Riding (TV) @ 320 or lossless if possible(I second this request) and Patrick Doyle - Man To Man @ 320 if possible.
For those of you who downloaded my previous novel, "NIGHTANGEL" here's another one. A completely different genre.
"THE FANATIC" is a story of murder, sex, drugs and power in Hollywood.
Here's the blurb from the back cover of the book. Hope you enjoy
(WARNIG: EXPLICIT SEX AND VIOLENCE)
Little on the silver screen of his local theater comes even close to the real world for LAPD detective, Vince D’Amato. Vince manages to wrangle his way onto the homicide team investigating the death and mutilation of famous Hollywood agent, Harvey Melnick. As he probes the possible involvement of aging movie star, Millicent Swann, he meets and begins to fall in love with production assistant, Samantha Brinkman. Meanwhile, a stalker has intervened to make Vince’s task harder as the body count grows.
Filled with murder and mayhem amidst the rich and prominent of Hollywood, Beverly Hills and Bellaire, this fast-paced story introduces us to the dirty underbelly of deceit and obsession that frequently fuel the high-stakes of a volatile industry where you are only as famous as your last big hit. As we witness the introduction of a young detective to the realities of the world’s largest dream factory, it becomes evident that all is not as it seems — for anyone.

Someone who liked my "Ultimate Adventure" mixes asked if I could make a compilation of dramatic themes to complement all this adventure stuff. As heartwrenching a thing as it was for me to consider, it actually proved to be quite the cathartic experience.
1) Forrest Gump (Alan Silvestri) 2) Patch Adams (Marc Shaiman) 3) Awakenings (Randy Newman) 4) My Life (John Barry) 5) Dances With Wolves (John Barry) 6) The Legend of 1900 (Ennio Morricone) 7) Dead Poets Society (Maurice Jarre) 8) Mr. Holland's Opus (Michael Kamen) 9) August Rush (Mark Mancina) 10) American Beauty (Thomas Newman) 11) The Shawshank Redemption (Thomas Newman) 12) Cast Away (Alan Silvestri) 13) Deep Impact (James Horner) 14) Contact (Alan Silvestri) 15) The Man Without A Face (James Horner) 16) Empire of the Sun (John Williams) 17) Schindler's List (John Williams) 18) Saving Private Ryan (John Williams) 19) Glory (James Horner)
It was incredibly difficult to limit myself to 80 minutes, so I apologize for what may appear to be the sprawling nature of the track listing on first glance. Drama is relative (and covers a wide range of styles), so there is a little bit of dipping into and crossing-over into other genres. But that's okay. Hope you enjoy.
P.S. Since there was no way to contain all of my favorites to just one disc, a second volume will be inevitably forthcoming. ;)
Big favor... Here's the thing, I wrote the link down for Randy Edelman - For Richer Or Poorer and I just d/led it, but something happened and it says that track 10 is corrupted. I didn't write the name of the person that uploaded it. I want to ty btw, I normally write down the names, dunno what happened. I'm assuming I got it from here, but could be wrong. Could that person upload track 10? Tyvm in advance! Sorry for asking.
Gonna re-post my comment, in case anyone missed it...

@Abby - I am sorry the link did not work. Since blogger changed the format for hyperlinks, I have had a hard time getting things correct. @Southview212, I owe you one, very nice of you. Ty very much! =)
@Gremlin, would love to hear that too, but I get this error...

@Omega: Thank you so much for the link to the Martyrs score. I've been waiting for this. The score for Eden Log (composed by the same guys) is also available for free on this site.
at the moment I'm looking for all star wars scores (John Williams), if possible complete scores?? I checked my 'usual suspects' and just found phantom menace ultimate edition....
any help would be appreciated. I know I haven't been as active as I would like to be, yet you'd make me quite happy if I could get some support...
Hi ... Would anyone have the soundtrack to "The Cycle Savages"? Also, I recently won from eBay the soundtrack to "Golden Breed" by Mike Curb. I'll post it when it arrives.
@--mcc I can help with the Intrada RElease of Body Double 320kbps. Give me about 30 minutes and it'll be up for FranklyYES - great new title befitting the great works done here :O)
1) Life is Beautiful (Nicola Piovani) 2) The Straight Story (Angelo Badalamenti) 3) Twin Peaks (Angelo Badalamenti) 4) The Elephant Man (John Morris) 5) Being John Malkovich (Carter Burwell) 6) The Man Who Wasn't There (Carter Burwell) 7) Gods & Monsters (Carter Burwell) 8) The Hudsucker Proxy (Carter Burwell) 9) Adaptation (Carter Burwell) 10) One Hour Photo (Johnny Klimek & Reinhold Heil) 11) Sideways (Rolfe Kent) 12) The Truman Show (Philip Glass) 13) Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind (Jon Brion) 14) A Beautiful Mind (James Horner) 15) Sommersby (Danny Elfman) 16) Dead Again (Patrick Doyle) 17) Seven Years In Tibet (John Williams) 18) Legends of the Fall (James Horner) 19) Braveheart (James Horner) 20) Bicentennial Man (James Horner) 21) A.I. Artificial Intelligence (John Williams)
There's an arc here, believe me. Light --> Dark --> Light
Let me deconstruct this collection, just to justify my actions:
The disc starts out on a sad, but beautiful note, "Life is Beautiful," just to establish the tone. (I was going to include more foreign works, but I'm saving that for my next project: "A Touch of Romance.") Then that transitions to my short tribute to three David Lynch pictures, where it becomes noticeably darker. I then pulled out my quintet of Burwells, because - what can I say? The man does fine, deep (and dark) dramatic music. From there it's still sad and melancholy, but eventually becomes progressively lighter (but still heavy) in the last half. I finally got an opportunity to include a little Danny Elfman because tonally his work is so hard to include in these compilations. That, and I'm saving it for another all-Danny Elfman project somewhere down the line. I end it with the last half I like to call "John Williams V. James Horner. Yes, Horner has more pieces represented on here, but Williams has the last laugh. ;)
I went decidedly darker with this one because I'm a dark guy. I can't deny my roots any longer.
The biggest regret I have is just picking one cue from "The Truman Show." If I had the space, I'd include the entire soundtrack on there. Probably one of my top 5 scores ever.
I'm glad you like them, KevinG. The feedback is what makes it all worthwhile. :)
You're right; the personal compilations are probably the ones that mean the most, although of course it depends on the type of person you are. I don't expect everybody to agree with my choices, which of course means you are free to create your own, which is so much fun to do!
Don't worry, though. As soon as I finish this next Romantic Themes project, I'll soon return to adventure... ;)
@ Ms Boricua: Could you do me a favour and rip only the 1st track of Philippe Rombi's Ricky, which is called "Ricky (Theme)" @ lossless? This track is simply amazing, so many wonderful melodies in one track. If I understood you correctly, you own the original cd. Would be outstanding!
And thank you for And When Did You Last See Your Father?
@KevinG - I wish you wouldn't keep winking at me, people will start to talk ;)
@Budarc & His album downloaders! Is anyone actually printing out the covers for the Adventure series? I only ask because I don't want to spend time doing covers for the Dramatic & others if your just using the thumbnails for media players. If that's the case I'll just do some small quickies :)
If I do covers for the other comps, any suggestions for the style?
@Southview212 - thanks again, great to finally hear it at such good quality.
Can anyone improve on a 192 for Sir Richard Rodney Bennet's Far From The Madding Crowd 0ST? Many thanks if you can.
If anyone has any custom cover requests, feel free to ask. I prefer films from the 60's or 70's. My style, if you have not viewed it, can be found over at the art department. Just type Custom in Search.
I don't really have any cover suggestions for my dramatic compilations, although I did somehow envision the cover for the first volume to be sort of like an empty park setting with a bench. But I may be thinking of Forrest Gump. For the second one, much darker in nature, I imagine something opposite to that, like a night setting or something. Something empty and introspective and lonely, like the night sky. I don't know, that's just what's in my mind when I'm listening to the compilations...
Addendum to that last bit: For the second volume artwork, I'm thinking something A.I.-esque (like that scene on the hill at night). I can only convey my ideas in feelings, so that first one has that sad Forrest Gump-y feeling and the second one has that sad Artificial Intelligence-y feeling. Does anyone know what the hell I'm talking about? ;)
Here, I found some pictures to help aid my incredibly abstract references. Like I said these are just ideas that popped into my head. As always, I appreciate your work on all of this, THXjay. I know I'm a demanding son of a bitch. ;)
Does anyone know if there is a bootleg or promo of the score for the movie Drop Dead Fred by Randy Edelman? And does anyone have Arthur by Burt Bacharach? Thx in advance!
1) Gone with the Wind (Max Steiner) 2) Doctor Zhivago (Maurice Jarre) 3) Romeo & Juliet (Nino Rota) 4) Love Story (Francis Lai) 5) Somewhere in Time (John Barry) 6) The Godfather (Nino Rota) 7) Cinema Paradiso (Ennio Morricone) 8) Malena (Ennio Morricone) 9) La Vita E Bella (Nicola Piovani) 10) Il Postino (Luis Bacalov) 11) Chocolat (Rachel Portman) 12) The Lake House (Rachel Portman) 13) The Bridges of Madison County (Lennie Niehaus) 14) Indecent Proposal (John Barry) 15) Titanic (James Horner) 16) Superman (John Williams) 17) Robin Hood, Prince of Thieves (Michael Kamen) 18) The Princess Bride (Mark Knopfler) 19) Shopgirl (Barrington Pheloung) 20) Punch-Drunk Love (Jon Brion) 21) The Curious Case of Benjamin Button (Alexandre Desplat) 22) What Dreams May Come (Michael Kamen) 23) Love Actually (Craig Armstrong) 24) Dragonheart (Randy Edelman) 25) Edward Scissorhands (Danny Elfman) 26) Modern Times (Charles Chaplin)
I know it's a ballsy move to call something I made the "greatest" of anything, but I actually believe this is the best compilation I've ever come up with. I'm really proud and happy with the way it turned out. In the end, I had to throw out 1 or 2 tracks in order to make it fit, but the way it stands now it's as strong as the first "Ultimate Adventure" in terms of wall-to-wall beauty and powerful impact. There is no filler material here, believe me.
There is something about listening to good music that is so soul-stirring and spirit-strengthening that it sweeps you up in overwhelming emotion. This collection represents 26 of those pieces. Hold a loved one near as you're listening to these, or in my case, cry yourself to sleep. ;)
I try to download the soundtrack of my favourite movie (for the music and the story) "Body Double" @320 from intrada collection without any succeed (limited to 10 download) :-(
But i remember there was a link somewhere on the web :-)
Here is this link (not my post)
This masterpiece should be known by everybody !!!!
Sorry guys! In my haste and enthusiasm I uploaded the Body Double soundtrack to Rapidshare as a free user. oops! Will rectify now. Sorry for the confusion!
Once again, apologies for the false start on the Body Double files. Here they are again, for your attention. I do not expect any further problems but please let me know if any occur;

Friends, I just wanted to report that I have spent all of last week listening and studying Giachino's new Star Trek score and now all weekend listening to Lost Season 4 and I gotta say, Giacchono really is one of the best 'new' talents out there! Regardless of my initial reaction of disappointment, the Star Trek score is terriffic, full of energetic writing and frenetic action, with an abundance of hummable themes and motifs that are hard to get outa your head once they're in! Nevertheless, my first criticism stands, it does after all not sound much like a Star Trek score like we're used to...but then again judging from the footage I've seen, the new movie doesn't LOOK much like old-school-Star Trek any more either! :D I love how the classic Star Trek Theme in the end segues into the new melodies. I'll definitely buy both albums soon! ;) Now, if only they would release "Fringe" too this year and I'll be a well-served score-buff in 2009. Ok, don't know why I posted all this but I feel much better now having vented my renewed-Giacchino-enthusiasm...:) :D Thanks. ;)
@ Parzival - Thanks. It's a lesson in the domino effect of how one bad judgment can lead people to homelessness. Even though neither of us ever wanted involvement in the credit card game, they've managed to find a way to pull us in. Insidious seems a very worthy title for it.
Alfred Hitchcock wasn't suffering from delusions of paranoia. He was just seeing the future.
Hi All: does anyone have Loek Dikker's The 4th Man and/or Pascali's Island ripped? I've seen references to some dead links for the first and would be grateful if anyone has a live one they could share.
@ Isbum - Happy to see you on the blog my friend, Peoples working very hard over here :-) I hope you will be out your moving soon, All my whishes are with you.
The original Trek is my favorite all time TV show. Strangely enough, while I respect the other shows and find the occasional episode very good, I can't get into them. As such I'm sure I'll hate the new movie at first.
All I can hope for is that Paramount will try to make money by releasing something new with regards to the classic show. I have already ordered the Blu Ray first season and the movies. I can't get too excited because I don't have anything to play them on yet. And Christmas is still seven months away!
Film score wise, maybe we will get a proper release of Goldsmith's The Motion Picture and The Final Frontier. All the TV music would be nice too, but the DVD rips are satisfying for now.
A fast message to give THANKS, BIG THANKS TO SOUTHWIEW212 who upload for me Angel by P.Rombi (excelent score?
Thanks Southview212, you seem very good people. This message is only to give my thanks and thanks to the other guy who post THE PRODIGAL AT 320KB for me (I don´t remenber his name) And thanks to Isbum and Filmpac, nice people, nice people
Maybe some of you could go to Ubeda, the marvellous film music festival this July:
just thought i'd give everybody a heads up that rapidshare is now sharing IP information of copyright infringers at the request of the recording industry...German copyright law allows content owners to seek a court order to force ISP's to identify users behind specific IP addresses. apparently a user in germany was illegally sharing the new metallica album one day before it was officially released, and ended up getting raided at his house by authorities...
i don't think this will affect most of us, but i think we should exercise a little more discretion with new release SNS's, but even more especially with bootlegs or advance promos that have yet to be released. it seems that they aggressively go after the latter.
see here for more info: http://arstechnica.com/tech-policy/news/2009/04/rapidshare-hands-over-user-info-in-germany-users-panic.ars
just thought i'd inform everybody of this potential threat...fight the power, and stay black my peoples!!
Does anyone happen to have a short piece of piano music that Elmer Bernstein wrote for ESQUIRE magazine, back in 2002, for their article on "WHAT IT FEELS LIKE TO..."? The articles that ran in the annual issue covered subjects like; "What it feels like TO BE ATTACKED BY KILLER BEES" or "What it feels like to WALK ON THE MOON." Bernstein wrote about a minutes worth of piano music that emoted "What it feels like to TURN 80," which he did that year. At the time, one had to log onto ESQUIRE'S site to listen to the piece. I kick myself now for having not downloaded...ugh!
Does anyone have this piece? Obviously a fun token piece of music, by one of the greatest of film composers.
G'day all. I had a wee forced absence due to a failing drive, which rapidly became a failed drive. Arrrrrghh!
Looking to replace some older downloads which I never quite got around to tagging and copying to an external. If anyone has existing links I'd be mighty appreciative. Looking for mp3 @320 only: MGM Soundtrack Treasury Indy Box Superman Blue Box TIA for any help at all. Heaps of other titles gone walkabout too, but these are the main ones I am keen to replace.
Some musical shares, at least one was a request...
@filmpac - welcome back, failed drives have happened to me twice and I've learnt to back up and then back up the back up... if that doesn't sound lavatorial I don't know what does.
@ filmpac -- wow, didn't think it would happen, least not for a while, but thanks for INTO THE NIGHT. Very much appreciated. Also MR. TIBBS. What other titles have gone walkabout?
I definately agree with you regarding the new Star Trek score......the music is fresh and memorable....truly superb. As to the film itself, I'll reseve judgement untill I see it. I am a die hard Trek fan, and really love the original series, so we'll see.
Does anyone have the promo to "Hotel For Dogs" by John Debney? For some reason, the music stood out to me. I know that the score has been released/leaked, but I haven't been able to track it down anywhere. Thanks!
I must say that I don´t like the score to the new Star Trek. I don´t dislike Giacchinno but I think that this score is too derivative and a little boring.
The original Goldsmith effort was a masterpeace but this new one by Giacchino it seems (for me) like filler music and not very memorable
Dear Friend please I need Tiomkin´s Soundtracks "GIANT" (Soundstage Records) Expanded Edition (31 tracks). It´s very important. Can you help me? Thanks in Advance!
Other important request: RIO BRAVO - DIMITRI TIOMKIN THE BIG SKY - DIMITRI TIOMKIN
I agree with the positive comments about the new Star Trek score. I like MG but didn't think he had the ability to craft themes as well as Jerry Goldsmith. I was wrong. I should have gone back and listened to his Medal of Honour OSTS, I guess.
@ Javier and Octagonproplex, I’m not forget you friends, But I have a problem For the John Barry Soundtracks it’s a 2009 released, and I don’t want isbum have some trouble if I post them here. Of course the links are OK and Ready , I can share it by mail, you have mine in my profile. If this is a problem for you I will find another way to complete your collection.
Just added some custom covers for Southview's Pirate compilation over in Ruggo & Jean's if anyone wants them :)
Southview included some plain white covers in the download but as I was busy working on Budarcs I decided to do some for this as well. Hopefully they are "Piratey" enough :)
For some reason I'm currently much more into discussing scores instead of sharing them. I hope you don't mind it too much. ;)
As for the new Star Trek, I admit that it sounds somewhat unspecific, which is to say, the score would probably also work well in Medal of Honor pt. 25 or Speed Racer Reloaded or whatever (I guess you could call that genericism indeed). What's really missing are those "sense of wonder"- cues like in Goldsmith's scores or the aural recognizability of the musical style, but then again we should bear in mind that our Hollywood-heroes most likely write what they're told to and I can only wager that JJ Abrams as an admitted non-star-trek-afficionado might have ordered Giacchino to stay away from the "classic star trek terrain".
I have by now read several really bad reviews of the movie in question, claiming it to be ill-cast and in many ways to be as "untrue to the original canon" as some of us have feared. That would be a shame, I will have to see for myself. I grew up with Kirk on TV and hold the fondest memories of the show, its spin-offs and movies. Actually, I also am in favor of the idea of remakes or contemporary updates of movies in general, cause there's much inetersting material to re-interest audiences in, but I find it distressing that those remakes/updates/prequels usually are pieces of commercial garbage.
How was I looking forward to the new 'Planet of The Apes' back then - and what piece of cr*p it turned out compared to the Shaffner-original. And what about those stupido remakes of 'The Omen' or 'Amityville'? There are plenty of examples. Omega Man comes to mind as well as another wasted opportunity. Sometimes I wish, they'd just invent a new character or narrative-universe than destroying our classic ones. Do we really need a gloabl Star-Trek-prequel set in an alternate universe that has little to do with what we knew it to be? Maybe an all original "Space Trek" would/could have been more rewarding? Same with Bond. When I grew up, Bond epitomized style and classy macho-verility with a cynical backdrop - nowadays he looks like a prole dressed-up in a tuxido, acts like Rambo and the only things reminiscent of the original Bond are the title and the theme. How sad all in all. It's like they made random movies and put deceiving titles on them. It says this and that, but it is sth. else entirely.
Anyhow, I only regret how Giacchino must come across to people unfamiliar with his pre-big-screen work as a 'newcomer'. Remember MI:3? Many people were really disappointed both by the movie and the score; and while Elfman's was my favorite in the series, Giacchino's score was one of the grittiest and most aggressive action-scores in a long while - a good work in its own right, if not in the series (I think Zimmer's effort was the worst in that franchise). I hope Giacchino will soon have the chance to shine with his stellar abilities and cease to be regarded so controversially. He really deserves better.
Regarding HGW's Wolverine music, I gotta agree with wayfarer, that's truly an example of pretty generic and boring music. ;)
As for originality, I for one thought that Hirshfelder's highly praised score for 'Australia', though an enjoyable listen and functional score in the movie, was one of the least original and most derivative works I've heard in a full decade! And still it was Academy nominated, wasn't it? :D But I don't blame Hirschfelder, I blame Baz Lurman or the production company for that! ;) As if Hirschfelder knew nothing but Elgar and Pärt, I just can't believe that! ;)
Ok, before I totally outlive my welcome here with my superfluous ramblings I wish y'all a great day!
I grabbed the new Trek but haven't given it a spin yet so I can't comment. I expect it will sound like Pirates of the Caribbean or something similar to the Hans Zimmer sound factory.
All the Star Trek spinoffs had music that was like air conditioning noise to me. No themes. One long sustain after another. Prime example: Fielding's Trouble with Tribbles score compared to McCarthy's Trials and Tribulations.
But maybe it's what I'm used to. Today's directors don't want bombastic themes. I'll always prefer the older stuff by Duning, Courage, Steiner and of course Goldsmith.
Here is food for thought: Is it possible that everyone just likes what was going around when they were growing up? Whatever you hear in our formative years just sticks to the walls of your brain? Count Basie? The Beetles? And as we get older we all shrivel at what the "kids" are listening to? Disco! The Bee Gees!

If someone is interested, here's ''Blur'' promo score by Kevin Saunders Hayes: http://rapidshare.com/files/228327374/Kevin_Saunders_Hayes_-_Blur__promo_.rar
@ scoredaddy - Thanks for all those uploads my friend. It's always a pleasure seeing you share here. :)
@ All - I know that the new Star Trek is a big event and everyone who loves it will have something to say about it. Please keep the tone of your opinions civil.
Franklynot was created as a place for celebration and friendship. Thanks.
@star trek fans I have to admit that I am totally opposed to the entire concept of the new Star Trek film. I think it is preposterous to have other actors play these roles. They were better off creating new characters. Also, ignoring the history of the Star Trek will not serve the franchise well (such as rewriting what has already happened in the MANY episodes and films). What cam before is just as (or more) important than what WILL happen. I will try to keep as open a mind as I can when seeing this film. The score sounds like a good one, but that really cannot be correctly judged until one views the movie.
Having been a Star Trek fan my whole life (still my favorite tv show) I was a bit skeptical about the new movie. I've heard such great things, now I'm excited to see it asap. The original series is such a classic; the fact that it continues to live through remastered episodes and now a new movie speaks volumes to the timelessness of the original series. I think that's rather cool.
My biggest gripe with the new Star Trek score is not the new music(although it had to grow on me), but rather the use of the Original theme. I know this is supposed to be in connection, albeit loosely, eith the original series, however I don't think the Courage theme fits with the rest of the album. Goldsmith's or Horner's would, IMO, segue much better.
But I think the thing you guys are forgetting is that it's a prequel, right? So it's supposed to somehow segueway its way into the original series and the other movies and stuff. I think. Kind of the way "Revenge of the Sith" seguewayed into "A New Hope." Ay, bad example. ;P But it would make sense that the Courage theme makes an appearance if it's supposed to link up to that one.
The new Star Trek is having very good reviews (there a lot of raves for this film, I think it will be very good). I don't like the score but I think I will enjoy the film.
I want to recommend a score that I have heard a few days ago and it's very good and beatiful:
THE GRASS HARP, by PATRICK WILLIAMS
I recommend to all of you, I didn't expect a so nice score by Patrick Williams (I don't know very much this composer)
A very short score (26 minutes) but it has great solo flutes and very southern and pleasan music
Alex¡
Michael Giacchino goes to the Ubeda Film Festival in Spain¡¡ (with Christopher Young , jOes Hishaishi, etc, etc)
@ Southview212 Many many Thanks dear friend. Sorry, I did not know it was your post and I had not seen. I will have passed. Thank you very much again. Congratulations because It's fantastic.
Hi Friends. Please also I need HIGH NOON: ORIGINAL FILM SCORES OF DIMITRI TIOMKIN (includes Suites from: Cyrano de Bergerac, Hign Noon, The Alamo and 55 Days of Pekin) It´s important for me. Many Thanks!
@gsw Per your request @320 http://rapidshare.com/files/229423719/Copland_Conducts_Copland.part1.rar http://rapidshare.com/files/229413427/Copland_Conducts_Copland.part2.rar
Is anyone interested in a severely underrated work by Bill Conti?
Upon the interest of at least one individual, I am willing to share with you all the soundtrack to the 1992 TV-film, "Nails," courtesy of the label styles of V@rese S@r@b@nde.
This Bill Conti score is consistent of synthesizers, wonderful guitar work - that is, electric guitar work - and even some orchestral pieces here and there.
Hi all, Happy Cinco de Mayo for those that like Margaritas!
I have a request: I'm looking for,
1- A 4-cd compilation named "The War", A Ken Burns film, The Soundtrack. 2-The sound track of Don Siegel's 1964 "The Killers", music by John Williams (as Johnny Williams)
Marathon Man (DVD rip) The greatest show en earth (it is a cd including songs and the score of Trapece) aaron copland greatest hits (they are two cds) music from the films of steven spielberg (silva screen) music from the films of tim burton film music of thomas newman slumdog millonaire (promo score)
Any chance you can re-rip THE 4TH MAN LP lossless and with less distortion? It sounds like it was recorded at too high a volume. Looking at the sound graph of the first track there is some major clipping going on. I have another rip that's a bit better but far from great. You're the first person I've seen who actually has the LP so thought I'd ask.
I relistened to those tracks - YIKES! Don't know what I was thinking... they sounded alright on playback when I did that rip, but that was months ago.
My apologies to everyone.
I will re-rip that LP -- when that will be is the question. My PC that I use for media projects is having some HD problems that I'm attempting to get resolved.
I don't have the capacity to do lossless as of yet, so it will be @320, more than likely.
Here is the soundtrack to the surf flick "Golden Breed," which was made by Mike Curb and Harley Hatcher. The LP I got wasn't in great shape, but I did the best I could with it. W/covers.
@ All – I’m sure it’s between all of yours Australian Peoples. I don’t want to hurt US peoples but I am crazy and a great lovers of the Australian Movies. Mad Max, The Survivor, Patrick, Harlequin, Etc… they are so much I cannot put them All. Well here are my request, I’m buying the Film “ Gabriel” directed by Shane Abbess. If someone of you could help me to Find The Original CD Music. I will appreciated very much. If there is a shop in Australia where I can Buy them it’s would be Great. I don’t think it’s a Hard request but for sure this will be a great Help to me.
@ jean You can get that at Amazon http://www.amazon.com/dp/B0013RUQ58/ref=asc_df_B0013RUQ58790287/?tag=aus-music-20&creative=380333&creativeASIN=B0013RUQ58&linkCode=asn#moreAboutThisProduct
@ John James - Thank you so much, I tip So much time "Gabriel" on Amazone and never find Something. Thanks, Thanks, I order them just Now. I realy enjoy your help.
Hi to all. Last week I had to reinstall my computer, and I lost one link, the 33and1/3. I know it's somewhere in the comments, but can't find it. Someone?
@ southview - Your the Prince of the Webb, Thank you very much for these Australian's soundtracks. You know I relly like the Australian Directors, as Simon Wincer, Peter Weir, George Kennedy, Richard Franklin, Etc.. but There where all kidnapped by Hollywood. :))) OK. back to download Now.
I am here! Been lurking lately; awfully busy at work, not much time to share.
There is a new item of interest over at the Big 10-Inch Unmentionable, the Victor Young/Frank Skinner score for Written on the Wind coupled with the Alex North/Henry Mancini Four Girls in Town. The latter is outstanding.
http://big10inchrecord.blogspot.com/
PS - Iz - hope you are settled into a new place and all travails a thing of the past.
@ Buster - Oh, goodie! Glad you're oK. I'm pretty sure we have a place but I don't want to say much until the t's are crossed and everything is signed.
I wouldn't wish this experience on my worst enemy (I don't have one;).
@ eliotw - Many many thanks for "The Golden Breed", has been a Holy Grail for some of us for quite a while now. Great stuff, cheers!
For those interested, I was able to split the one large mp3 file into 12 tracks, amazing easingly. Here's how: (1) Download Direct MP3 Splitter Joiner (2) Install and run it. (3) Drag the mp3 file onto the waveform section at top of screen. (4) On the Split Panel beneath the waveform, select the "Pause Detection" tab. Click "Start Detection". You should wind up with 13 tracks (should be 12 really, the last being just 4 seconds of silence you can toss). (5) Click the "Split" button up top, select a folder to save to, and voila presto!
@ southview212 - Many thanks for those Aussie scores, awfully hard to come by, even Down Under :))
In keeping with the Aussie spirit, here's a great compilation by Bruce Rowland. Please note this is not the official soundtrack to the movie (which I have posted before), but does contain the premiere recording of a 15-minute concert suite of the title track, which according to the liner notes is becoming increasingly popular in many orchestral reportoires"
The blogger's lament - so far 46 people have downloaded Written on the Wind/Four Girls in Town. Number of comments: 0. Not unusual; most of the comments I get are from the same group of people, most of them well known in these parts.
For those of you who enjoy what we offer, a few comments every now and then would be appreciated!

Well, it was about hightime that Isbum listened to the wiseman ;0))

This is what I came up with.
IN ALL SERIOUSNESS...Dramatic Scores Part I
1) Forrest Gump (Alan Silvestri)
2) Patch Adams (Marc Shaiman)
3) Awakenings (Randy Newman)
4) My Life (John Barry)
5) Dances With Wolves (John Barry)
6) The Legend of 1900 (Ennio Morricone)
7) Dead Poets Society (Maurice Jarre)
8) Mr. Holland's Opus (Michael Kamen)
9) August Rush (Mark Mancina)
10) American Beauty (Thomas Newman)
11) The Shawshank Redemption (Thomas Newman)
12) Cast Away (Alan Silvestri)
13) Deep Impact (James Horner)
14) Contact (Alan Silvestri)
15) The Man Without A Face (James Horner)
16) Empire of the Sun (John Williams)
17) Schindler's List (John Williams)
18) Saving Private Ryan (John Williams)
19) Glory (James Horner)
It was incredibly difficult to limit myself to 80 minutes, so I apologize for what may appear to be the sprawling nature of the track listing on first glance. Drama is relative (and covers a wide range of styles), so there is a little bit of dipping into and crossing-over into other genres. But that's okay. Hope you enjoy.
P.S. Since there was no way to contain all of my favorites to just one disc, a second volume will be inevitably forthcoming. ;)
@budarc
And the hits just keep coming. Thanks very much for all of your work putting these together.
Will we have some more custom covers by THXjay for this set?
I'm not sure. But I'm hopeful.

@WAYFARER
Thanks,if possible,to reactive the body double link.Thanks.
@budarc
I really appreciate all the thought that you put into the compilations. Adventure is easy, this is much tougher.
The big cd companies don't seem to "get it" with compilations sometimes but I guess that is the difference between personal and commercial.
Fantastic job and I eagerly await your further releases.
We still need covers, however (wink to THXjay)
I'm glad you like them, KevinG. The feedback is what makes it all worthwhile. :)
You're right; the personal compilations are probably the ones that mean the most, although of course it depends on the type of person you are. I don't expect everybody to agree with my choices, which of course means you are free to create your own, which is so much fun to do!
Don't worry, though. As soon as I finish this next Romantic Themes project, I'll soon return to adventure... ;)
@ Ms Boricua:
Could you do me a favour and rip only the 1st track of Philippe Rombi's Ricky, which is called "Ricky (Theme)" @ lossless? This track is simply amazing, so many wonderful melodies in one track.
If I understood you correctly, you own the original cd. Would be outstanding!
And thank you for And When Did You Last See Your Father?
@ boogiepop:
Thanks for The Reader!
@ Jean:
Thanks for Xena!
@Tlkjwe - Your the most welcome. Thanks!
@Gremlin, ty very much.
@Wayfarer, sorry to be a pain, but I get the same error as earlier... Limit reach, etc. I 2nd what Georges said. Thx in advance!
@Boogiepop, Thx for JCVD!
@Jean, I took Xena too, thx!
@Tlkjwe, Sorry, that one I got from e-music, so is @ vbr. :( I'll ask around for it.
@ Ms Boricua thanks for the Pheloung!
@KevinG - I wish you wouldn't keep winking at me, people will start to talk ;)
@Budarc & His album downloaders!
@ THXjay
Does anyone know what the hell I'm talking about? ;)
@THXjay
We will see after you come up with some covers for budarc's new compilation.
I'm very shy, but I love your covers. It's sickness I know and I can only fight it for so long,
Please, show us the covers...
Here, I found some pictures to help aid my incredibly abstract references. Like I said these are just ideas that popped into my head. As always, I appreciate your work on all of this, THXjay. I know I'm a demanding son of a bitch. ;)

Leave it with me, it may be a while before I have time to spend on them.
@Budarc - I think I know exactly what you mean ;)
Thanks man. :)
@ THXjay - Budarc's Copvers....I did, great covers for great compilations!
Oh yes, yes, Oh Yes,
Sorry, spent. Custom covers, YRAH!
Does anyone have Thomas Newman's score for 'How to Make An American Quilt'?
Does anyone know if there is a bootleg or promo of the score for the movie Drop Dead Fred by Randy Edelman? And does anyone have Arthur by Burt Bacharach? Thx in advance!

It's @320 and not my link or upload. Thx to Joserael for this one.
@Quinlan... Please, do not list. Thx.
Found "Arthur", still looking for any info on Drop Dead Fred by Randy Edelman. Thx!

Hold a loved one near as you're listening to these, or in my case, cry yourself to sleep. ;)

@ All - Keep the good wishes coming, we may be getting a place on Monday.
I love how the classic Star Trek Theme in the end segues into the new melodies.
I'll definitely buy both albums soon! ;)
Now, if only they would release "Fringe" too this year and I'll be a well-served score-buff in 2009.
Ok, don't know why I posted all this but I feel much better now having vented my renewed-Giacchino-enthusiasm...:) :D
Thanks. ;)
@ isbum
That's great news, Isbud!
I'll keep knocking on wood with my crossed fingers for you! :)
@ Isbum
I hope it works out, my friend.
P.S. Will you have a couch I can crash on?
@budarc
@southview212
You have done wonderful work here, grasshoppers. I am greatly pleased that the universe continues to expand.
Hope these get worthy covers and posted over in Ruggo & Jean's House of Compilations as they will greatly enhance the growing archives.
@isbum
An army of good thoughts marches beside you, my friend.
@Parzival and everyone
Re: New Star Trek
@isbum - fingers crossed for Monday, & thanks for the supportive comments over at the Art Department. Makes it all worthwhile.
A fast message to give THANKS, BIG THANKS TO SOUTHWIEW212 who upload for me Angel by P.Rombi (excelent score?
Thanks Southview212, you seem very good people. This message is only to give my thanks and thanks to the other guy who post THE PRODIGAL AT 320KB for me (I don´t remenber his name)
And thanks to Isbum and Filmpac, nice people, nice people
Maybe some of you could go to Ubeda, the marvellous film music festival this July:
@ ALL...
just thought i'd give everybody a heads up that rapidshare is now sharing IP information of copyright infringers at the request of the recording industry...German copyright law allows content owners to seek a court order to force ISP's to identify users behind specific IP addresses. apparently a user in germany was illegally sharing the new metallica album one day before it was officially released, and ended up getting raided at his house by authorities...
i don't think this will affect most of us, but i think we should exercise a little more discretion with new release SNS's, but even more especially with bootlegs or advance promos that have yet to be released. it seems that they aggressively go after the latter.

@ All
Does anyone happen to have a short piece of piano music that Elmer Bernstein wrote for ESQUIRE magazine, back in 2002, for their article on "WHAT IT FEELS LIKE TO..."? The articles that ran in the annual issue covered subjects like; "What it feels like TO BE ATTACKED BY KILLER BEES" or "What it feels like to WALK ON THE MOON." Bernstein wrote about a minutes worth of piano music that emoted "What it feels like to TURN 80," which he did that year. At the time, one had to log onto ESQUIRE'S site to listen to the piece. I kick myself now for having not downloaded...ugh!
Does anyone have this piece? Obviously a fun token piece of music, by one of the greatest of film composers.
Much thanks in advance.
Wild on!

G'day all. I had a wee forced absence due to a failing drive, which rapidly became a failed drive. Arrrrrghh!

TIA for any help at all. Heaps of other titles gone walkabout too, but these are the main ones I am keen to replace.

@ parzival
I definately agree with you regarding the new Star Trek score......the music is fresh and memorable....truly superb. As to the film itself, I'll reseve judgement untill I see it. I am a die hard Trek fan, and really love the original series, so we'll see.
Hello All...
Would anyone happen to have (SNS) "Synthesizer Soundtracks - Blade Runner" (V/A) [SILVA TREASURY] 1995?
Please Help if You can... \(°•°)_
Alex¡
@ L. Rob Hubb: thanks so much for the 4th Man!
Hi Fiends!
@honored general & Others
Dear Friend please I need Tiomkin´s Soundtracks "GIANT" (Soundstage Records) Expanded Edition (31 tracks).
It´s very important. Can you help me?
Thanks in Advance!
Other important request:
RIO BRAVO - DIMITRI TIOMKIN
THE BIG SKY - DIMITRI TIOMKIN
I've posted my covers for Budarc's latest trilogy over in Ruggo & jeans place :)
I agree with the positive comments about the new Star Trek score. I like MG but didn't think he had the ability to craft themes as well as Jerry Goldsmith. I was wrong. I should have gone back and listened to his Medal of Honour OSTS, I guess.
HGW's Wolverine score is pedestrian and bland.
I just hope Elfman doesn't screw up the T4 score.
Best Whishes
But I don't blame Hirschfelder, I blame Baz Lurman or the production company for that! ;)
As if Hirschfelder knew nothing but Elgar and Pärt, I just can't believe that! ;)
Ok, before I totally outlive my welcome here with my superfluous ramblings I wish y'all a great day!
:)
@Star Trek
Were any of you going to see Jaws, Raiders, Star Wars and saying, "What crap! They just don't make them like they used to?"

Giacchino Rules!!
Does someone have the 2CD Star Trek Album by the City of Prague Philharmonic Orchestra?
Thanks Isbum. always a pleasure to share here!
@star trek fans
I have to admit that I am totally opposed to the entire concept of the new Star Trek film.
@ NanM - Just receive Today The Star Trek I need to rip them and will post them Soon.

THXjay beat me to it, but I too had to replace the plain white covers for the Pirate comp. =)

Awesome covers! A 2-for-1 deal. The question is, which one do I use???
Having been a Star Trek fan my whole life (still my favorite tv show) I was a bit skeptical about the new movie. I've heard such great things, now I'm excited to see it asap. The original series is such a classic; the fact that it continues to live through remastered episodes and now a new movie speaks volumes to the timelessness of the original series. I think that's rather cool.
@Scoredaddy - Thank you for your latest posts. Always good to see you sharing your treasures with us.
I have a request for you. I know you are a huge Copland fan. I have a Copland LP and would like the tracks to go with my cover scans I posted in the Art Dept.
http://thecrimelounge3.blogspot.com/2009/04/copland-conducts-copland-lp.html <--
I know the music is avaiable from several sources, but I would like the tracks the same way they were presented on the LP. Could you help me?
@BossEllis, Wayfarer & Rebecca, you're all very welcome. Always a pleasure sharing with you guys/gals.
@Filmpac, Thx for Parenthood! Been looking for it like crazy and found it in the spreadsheet (didn't think it was gonna be there either). ty ty. :D
*inserts two cents*
Hello to all¡¡
The new Star Trek is having very good reviews (there a lot of raves for this film, I think it will be very good).

@All interested:

@L Rob Hubb - Thank you for Goldsmiths.
Could any kind person improve on a 192 for 2 Les Baxters' a)Hell's Belles & (b) Wild In The Streets. Thanks if you can.
@ L. Ron Hubb
@Donovan's Brain
Look for it in a couple of weeks.
@All:
Here is Bill Conti's kick-a** score for "Nails:"

Hi to all. Last week I had to reinstall my computer, and I lost one link, the 33and1/3.
I know it's somewhere in the comments, but can't find it.
Someone?
Princes Valiant.
This one??
http://33andthird.blogspot.com
Ron
Nice to have you back Princes!
Now, where the heck is Buster these days? I hope all is well, Buster.
Drop us a line my friend.
Yes Ron, that's the one, thanks!
@Isbum: thanks for the kind words, give me a few weeks more (due to my new job, I've very little time, I have to follow courses etc..).
@all: cheers!
@ isbum,
Cheers my friends, it's almost Friday again!
@ eliotw - Many many thanks for "The Golden Breed", has been a Holy Grail for some of us for quite a while now. Great stuff, cheers!
For those interested, I was able to split the one large mp3 file into 12 tracks, amazing easingly. Here's how:
(1) Download Direct MP3 Splitter Joiner
(2) Install and run it.
@ isbud - GREAT news pal :))
Bruce Rowland "The Man From Snowy River And Other Great Australian Themes", @320:

@Maimone Digital (Re; SCORES OF SCORES)
Do You still have this one?
"Jerry Goldsmith at 20th Century Fox" (6 CD Set)
Please help if You can, Thanks a Million!
